Never knew this place was here tucked away in a commercial business lot, can't really see it from the street. I just had a couple beers in the afternoon. Guy next to me had a very good looking and smelling plate of bangers and mash he said was great. They have some local beers on tap as well as bigger names and beer from the UK. I tried to come with a friend to try the 2 lb fish n chips but FIFA World cup was on and the place was packed. Went again yesterday because I was meeting a friend who wanted to smoke on the shady patio. Otherwise I would have gone down the street where they have a good happy hour. I've been here a few times to watch soccer with friends, and we have friends nearby who come often. Service warm and welcoming--it really feels like a neighborhood spot. What we liked: Fish and chips. It's classic comfort food-light, airy not doughy. Of course, there's a solid selection of beers, seltzers and cider, and seltzer, plus non-alcoholic options like sodas. It can get loud, there are TVs everywhere, and the energy picks up--but the staff stays attentive and friendly. The bartenders here are very welcoming. I would put ZERO IF I COULD. I had a very disappointing experience here. Two customers who appeared to be attending a FIFA event were making racist comments that created an uncomfortable and hostile atmosphere. The OWNER witnessed the other customers actions and what was happening, but no one stepped in to address the situation. I understand a restaurant CANNOT control every customer's behavior, but they CAN CHOOSE whether to respond when discrimination is happening. Because nothing was done, I did not feel welcome or safe, and it ruined my dining experience. I won't be returning. FYI PLEASE CONSIDER.... after my visit, the owner participated in racist comments in the parking lot and behavior along with other customers who appeared to be attending a FIFA event. Instead of making all guests feel welcome, the owner's actions contributed to a hostile and discriminatory atmosphere. No one should have to experience racism while trying to enjoy a meal. I do not recommend returning, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to others. read more

I have been wanting to visit this pub for a while now to sample their British treats. Was greeted by friendly bartender Bree who recommended a great local beer to enjoy while I waited for my food. Ordered a Shepards pie with the side salad. The atmosphere is cozy with great music, friendly regulars, and a large back room to play pool and darts. This place was fun for the novelty of going to a British pub and eating British foods, but it's not a place that we will necessarily go back to. We arrived around 6:30ish on a Friday evening. It wasn't really thatttt busy (although it got busier while we were there), but still our food took 30ish minutes to get to us. Our server was apologetic and kept checking up on us. She had warned us that the meat pies would take about 25 minutes, but I would assume our other food should have come out earlier... Wings - These were good! We got the mild and it was a nice buffalo mild spiciness. There was a good amount of meat on them, too. We didn't want fries with it, so we asked if there was any substitute we could do. They said they could give a few extra wings instead, so that was great! At $11, it was good value :) Fish & chips - Fish were a good size and had a nice batter around them. Good with the tartar sauce, but a bit boring without. The fries were actually the biggest disappointment. The waitress highly recommended them, but we were really disappointed. Nice size and texture, but they were dry and flavorless and not really worth finishing. At $19, this was sadly overpriced. Steak & mushroom meat pie - This was good! Nice portion size and yummy taste. Mashed potatoes also good. And this will sound crazy, but a highlight was actually the peas. They were just so pleasantly nice hahaha. I come here at least 3 or 4 days a week and my tab is always over a hundred bucks easily. Love the bartenders love the food. Drinks are reasonably priced. Would give 5 stars if the owners would get a new pool table. It takes your quarters and the balls don't even come out. I hate bugging the bartenders constantly over a dollar. Please help . I've been coming to Black Watch Pub for years. The atmosphere is fun and upbeat. I have noticed more recently that it is more and more difficult to get acknowledged by the bartenders when ordering. If I get to the front of the bar, they tend to look over at their "regulars" and those who already have an open tab to wait on first. I have to work to get their attention. I wish the current bartenders were more friendly. I haven't tried the food yet. I think the ordering system needs to be made more clear. I sat down at a table. I didn't see a menu or a server coming to take my order. I didn't see any visible signage on how to order food. This was on St. Patrick's Day night. I was led to believe by their Instagram post that there would be corned beef and cabbage served all day as well as St. Patrick's Day swag given out like necklaces, shot glasses, etc. Instead, I didn't see any food being served and no swag given out. On top of that, all of the music was rap between 8:00-10:15pm when I was there. They played ONE song by The Dropkick Murphys. Everyone cheered and wanted to hear another one, but instead they switched it back to rap. That was disappointing. They've been know to have Irish bands play, but not on St. Patrick's Day. Bummer. I was also disappointed that there were no Walker's chips (crisps) at a British Pub. They ran out. They did have them on New Year's Eve, though. I don't care for the American chips. I thought Black Watch would be the best St. Patrick's Day party in town. Instead, I was disappointed mainly because of the rap music and no Irish songs except for one in a 2 hour span. I think I'll party somewhere else next St. Patrick's Day. Your New Year's Eve parties are legendary. It's a missed opportunity to not put the same effort into St. Patrick's Day. 3 stars because it has been 4 stars in the past, but this time was 2 stars, so I'm splitting the difference. read more

Loved the fish and chips. Orders the 2 lb because why not. Enough to share but I didn't. The Cole slaw was FANTASTIC! Not too much dressing which I thought would be a negative BUT they know what they are doing. Its was just the right amount. The batter of the dish was crispy and not too heavy. Easton the malt vinegar if that's your jam and save the lemon squeeze until you are ready to take a bite. Made parts a little soggy but that was my bad. Will definitely be back to eat this again and maybe the lamb shank too. Sorry no pics this time, I was just too hungry to bother. Kid friendly - yes and no. Had my 8 year old on a weeknight and it was 5pm so not too many drunks at the bar but too many smokers and they leave the door open so it was second hand smoke that is my only negative experience with this place. We were looking for a bar to hang out in, drink some drinks, and talk for hours on end. Sam, our waitress, was on the hustle! Pouring drinks at the bar, table service, and perfect timing for the next round - she was everywhere all at once it seemed, with a smile and friendliness. A shepherd's pie, meat pie with mashed, and a salad were ordered. Food was hot, tasty, and made it so the alcohol could keep coming. We lingered for hours, never feeling rushed or given the side eye, even as we moved from high top to big table, to smaller table with the comfy chairs. You know it was a decent spot. Pretty big inside. We went to watch the Dodger NLCS game here because we heard it was a Dodger bar. When we arrived it was kind of empty. We ordered some drinks and food. I got the fish n chips because how can you go to a British pub and not get that? Then my boyfriend got the meat pie. His was delicious, a little hard to cut, but super good with the gravy. Mine was okay, my fish was actually a little soggy, which surprised me. Maybe the fryer wasn't hot enough before they laid the fish in? I don't know. The fries were hard to chew as well. Again like they put them in and the fryers weren't hot. The fries seemed like they were refried or something. Hard to explain, but they didn't have that crispy outside soft inside at all. Just stale. :( I really wanted to like it because LOVWE fish and chips. We'll give them another shot and I'll be sure to order after I see other people's food come out so at least I know the fryers were on and hot and see what happens. lol The ambiance was what you'd expect out of a pub. However when we were watching the championship game you'd think they have the TVs louder so you could hear it. After awhile more people started showing up and were interested in watching. So I asked them if they could put it louder. The girls were so nice and accommodating and did so. But then some regulars told them it hurt their ears so they had to lower the volume again. They were talking so loud you could hear their conversation from one end of the bar to the other end of the pub. Hubby picked this local bar based on positive Yelp reviews. So, we decided to give it a try on 9/4. It's located towards the back of a business shopping center- with plenty of parking. The entrance is at the back of the shopping center near the outdoor seating area. We got here around 3pm on Labor day and the bar area was pretty full. Seemed to be lots of regulars as everyone seemed to know one another and were friendly. The young bartender was sweet and greeted us when we arrived. We sat in the restaurant area and she quickly took our orders and brought out our drinks- Pomona beer- very good and served cold! Menu is not too big and our group decided on: fish and chips; lamb shanks; and chicken and mushroom meat pie. Food did take about 30 or 40 minutes and when it arrived we were pleasantly surprised! Portions were huge, food looked very appetizing and the tasted pretty darn good. While the fish compromised of very thick pieces of cod- the batter was light and crispy while the fish was delicate and moist. It was served with fries (just ok) and coleslaw. Hubby had their lamb shanks which he enjoyed. It came with a generous helping of fluffy and mashed potatoes that were seasoned perfectly and also peas. You also get extra Gravy with this which he appreciated! Another member of our party ordered the chicken and mushroom meat pie. He normally does not eat much- and he ate about 90% of his food! It was my first time here a few days ago. I came with some friends who frequently come here to hangout. It was a fun and relaxing place to grab a drink with friends. In the backroom they had darts and pool, I believe, and in the front was the bar and some seating. Lots of TVs so I could see people coming here to catch a game or two as well.
