I had never held a gun 6 months ago when I first entered Camarillo Gun Store. I was a bit intimidated and wasn't sure how I as a newbie would be perceived. The people working there were top notch and very understanding. I started talking with one person, and soon others also stepped in to help as well. They answered every question I could think of. They had many suggestions, helped me select a starting point, and never made a sales pitch or pushed anything. It seems like everyone there just loves to share their knowledge. Over the next few months, I purchased a few firearms here. Each time, I received expert advice, expert service, and was always impressed with the professionalism of everyone working to help me. This is a busy place and on the busiest of m days, they have a bunch of people working. From my experience, they are all superb. I have been back many times to browse and look at options for my next purchase. Each time, I consistently receive outstanding service, lots of good ideas/suggestions, and incredible service. Forget large chain stores! This gun store is fabulous. All the employees are knowledgeable and great to deal with. We always bring our little white poodle in when we shop. Not only do they welcome him, but they found a perfect gun for his size. While this was just a joke, they were so kind in letting us take a photo of him with the gun. As a result, we returned a few days later with our daughter who purchased a Glock and several accessories a couple of weeks ago. We returned today. To make mother purchase, but unfortunately they did not have any in stock. We plan to keep following up with them weekly as we would not purchase any where else. The most incredible staff. There are a few gentlemen there that are expert reloaders and can point you in the right direction. Its nice that the store has a good supply in stock. But prices are higher than most other stores. Powder, ammo, guns etc. Guns are priced way higher than even the msrp. Go to angeles reloading for your supplies and buy your guns elsewhere where they dont gouge you and make you feel more welcome. Another store down the street gave me a deal and covered the 4473 cost. That is probably why this place has a lot of inventory. They would rather sit on their guns forever versus make a deal. Next read more

Ok prices are a little higher that what you would expect. There are several places with better prices I'm guessing it because they have to pay the 50 employees that work there. I gave a price to start negotiating for a consignment gun and was told the guy won't take that. Well how would you know? Did you ask him or just assuming? Did the guy get the price he is asking off gunbroker? Did you make the price? It's not your gun. Big selection so probably will go back just to look at guns I want then go to other stores for the better pricing and costumer service. Some of the guys behind the counter are cocky know it alls The dude that has the accent, blond hair don't know his name, is very knowledgeable good guy to talk with he actually listens. Also, they had a very nice selection, I was surprised to see pricing not far off from my home state. Showed up at 6pm PST today on a Monday evening (well within posted business hours) to a handwritten sign saying they were closed for the day because *ALL* their employees were "sick". It pains me to write a 1-star review for local small businesses, but this is simply unacceptable for a physical retail store that lists FIFTEEN (15) employees under their "Meet the Team" section of their website. There was no mention of this on their social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) For what it's worth, I've been here twice in the past: once for a PPT during the AR15 rush of 2015 and the second time earlier this year to buy a box of self-defense ammunition. Service was decent and prices were slightly inflated over what you'd find elsewhere in the silly state of California. If you're looking for a "go to" local gun store, I unfortunately can't recommend this one in Ventura County. Your mileage may vary. read more

Made a return visit to this shop. Still 5/5. Several observations: 1) I actually got treated even nicer by the staff here during my second trip than I did during my first. Many FFLs in Los Angeles County could really take a lesson or two from these guys in the arena of customer service. 2) My pick-up was about as fast the DROS was during my first visit - 5 to 10 minutes or so. Rock on, guys. 3) In retrospect, it was probably unfair of me to base my general view of their pricing principally based on the Five-seveN and CZ RAMI I saw. Looking at more items this time around, I indeed stand corrected by Karlton H. - their more pedestrian offerings (Glocks, SIGs, and S&Ws) appear to all be priced below MSRP. 4) Following on #3, I was very impressed that they appeared to list MSRP on the tags of most of their FFL-controlled items on display. This type of transparency to customers speaks volumes about the character of the shop's management. 5) The price tags on their ammunition packages include tax - I view this business decision very favorably, as it simplifies things for the customer (I like round numbers). Definitely one of the best LGS that I've even been to do. Pity it's so far away from me, I'd definitely otherwise be stopping by more often. read more

This is not the old Camarillo Gun Store it used to be. The new owners are very nice and the place is fully stocked. In the past this store was very high priced and had only a few modern guns. This is no longer the case these guys have great prices and are fully stocked and not to mention have great attitudes. read more

I walked in to purchase a Walther 22 caliber for a CCW. The staff member assisting me tried to talk me out of purchasing the Walther stating that 22 calibers are not authorized for CCW. I had never heard of this before despite talking with multiple other gun dealers about using a 22 for CCW and I never once saw this rule posted on any California gun law website. The staff member stated that 22 calibers are not allowed for CCW because they don't kill immediately and that makes them dangerous to shoot. I quickly replied by stating that all guns are dangerous to shoot (they are f-ing guns!). He then tries to upsell me a more expensive Sig Sauer. I was infuriated because I felt like the staff was taking advantage that I was a woman and assumed I would fall for their scam tactics. I left immediately. The next day I visited another dealer who reassured me that 22 calibers are permitted for CCW. California law states a CCW allows you to carry "a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed on the person". There is no where in the law that restricts 22 caliber guns from being used for CCW. The staff member was clearly lying to me to get me to buy something more expensive. I will never come here again! read more

I went to go visit about 10 days ago to see what options they had for a concealed weapon. I noticed they didn't have many guns like other Gun stores in the county but the guys there were very nice and helpful. They recommended the Smith and Wesson M&P Shield. Great little Gun which felt great when I was holding it. I was not really planning on buying anything yet but the Gun felt so good in my hands I had no choice but to buy it. They showed met he different grip options they had and a gun holster. It was great is that they allowed me to put down half as long as I brought the rest when I picked up the gun (which is today!). I went online and researched the gun and found out it is considered one of the best if not the best small conceal carry pistol on the market right now specifically for the price. Every review talked about how great the gun is. I am thankful for Camarillo Shooters supply for selling me a great gun at a very good price. I compared it to what it was selling at other gun stores in the area and it was within $10 of what everyone else was selling it either more or less. I went to Camarillo Gun Store with my son-in-law who purchased a new rifle and scope. Naturally, I had to return to the store and buy one for myself! The guys at the store were incredibly helpful: with their assistance we selected rifle, scope, scope rings, rifle case etc. The staff bore-sighted my rifle in the store, so at the range It needed very little scope adjustment. This place had regulars who stop by once a week to see what's new in the display counters and chew the fat. The amazing thing is Karl knows what days to expect certain people in. First time I ever went to this store was back in 2007, (Don't know if it was the same as current owners or not), walked in, looking to buy my first shotgun, was completely ignored, I don't believe I was even ever greeted. Went back a year or so ago to give this small store another shot, and once again had a very similar attitude. I voiced my opinion of the gun store on a local community forum on Facebook where then the gun store owner started attacking me and my family, making fun of my handicapped Vietnam veteran father about his glasses stated that he was in the gun store with me and my fiance, and that my fiance was talking to someone behind the counter about shotguns. Mind you, I haven't seen my father in 2 years, and the last time he was in this state was about 20 years ago, so I know that's a lie and the owner went onto my Facebook profile to look at my photos to see my father just to make fun of him. Then the other lie would be about my fiance. She doesn't even like shotguns so why would she have a conversation about them? The only reason I went in there the 2nd time was because I had to go to the fishing shop next door, figured I'd give them another chance but obviously that was a mistake. read more

Went here today for the first time. Was looking at buying a Berreta 92fs. I wanted to support a small mom and pop shop rather than buying it cheaper at the local big chain store in Oxnard. They never acknowledged me when I walked in, nor while I was waiting to be helped. The old man wouldn't even make eye contact with me. After about 10 minutes of waiting there another customer walked in. He happened to be an middle aged Caucasian man. He was quickly acknowledged and waited on by the old man. At this point I just walked out of there. This is the first and last time I will go to the Camarillo Gun Store. read more

Two stellar encounters at the store recently. I told my dad to check it out after he got tired of waiting for his number to be called at the local big box gun store (you know the one). I went with him and they showed him a new and used shotgun in the model he was looking for. Karlton helped him and even talked him through purchasing different sights that dad wanted and offered to put them on for him. Fast forward a month or so and I was ready for my latest addition. I knew what I wanted before I got there and I believe i was 17 minute to and from the car with my receipt and copies of my completed paperwork. Ten days later was much of the same, I think it was fifteen minutes and I even chatted with Karlton for a few minutes. Great place. I live Oxnard, so there's not many local gun stores around me that sell reloading equipment. I've seen and passed by this place a few times but never actually had the chance to stop inside. Recently I've been getting into reloading and needed places I could stock up on components. I purchased a box of small pistol primers, bullets and an ammo box today. Scotty the owner is a pretty great guy. Received a friendly greeting when I walked in and definitely helpful in assisting me with questions and things I was looking for. Enjoyed the friendly conversation when I was being helped and it says a lot about this small business. Though currently there's a shortage on powders in stock, but the owner, Scotty is definitely trying his best to get more in stock as fast as he can. Prices are decently competitive with other local gun stores in and nearby the Ventura County area. I even went to check out another gun store in Simi Valley that also sold reloading supplies but were a bit more expensive, which had primers and powders costing 45% more than the online prices even with Hazmat fees considered, which is my case is not economical for me considering the 45 minute drive there. The prices here at Camarillo Shooters Supply were more reasonable and closer location-wise. This is my new favorite local gun store to buy reloading components from. read more

I was in the market for making my first semi-automatic pistol purchase. My purchase at this location was the the H&K P2000-V3(FDE FRAME). I felt since it being a local shop I would get better service, fair pricing and not be overcharged. Come to find out they had this gun listed with a 27% mark up. I would think they would want a returning customer. Full amount was paid in cash 999.00+tax. Retail on this pistol that I've seen it as low as 674.00 @ Turners a few days later to top this experience off. I called to ask if I can get a 10% discount but they chose to do nothing. Not even on a future purchase. I gave this shop my business and support but did not feel valued as a returning customer. read more

A couple of years ago my company in Hollywood sent me to Camarillo for a project for three months. I have to say that I hated the drive. During my stay I found this great chimmichaunga surf joint called "Olas" you all should try out. It's freakin' G- Double O- D... GOOD! My friend in Agura Hills heard that I was being sent out to the fields and told me to stop by this mom and pop's gun store that he highly recommended. What was nice was that it was next to Olas. So after I ate I skipped over to check it out. They also had the brand that I loved there. As I was looking around I heard a six shooter being spun. I didn't think anything of it and looked around some more. The younger guys helping out with my questions. 10 minutes later what was starting to get annoying was that spinning sound of the old wheel gun. So I looked over to where the glass cases meet in the corner was an old Caucasian man giving me the stink eye spinning his loaded gun looking like he wanted to shoot me. I thought "Really? What... an asshole." He wanted me out of there. So I left. I went back to H-wood and told everyone at the studio about my experience and to try out Olas but to never go to that pea shooter shop. I was going to give a 2 star rating but just thinking about the doddering old man sitting in the corner with a loaded gun and an itchy trigger. I'm gonna give this shop a star.
