A couple of years ago my company in Hollywood sent me to Camarillo for a project for three months. I have to say that I hated the drive. During my stay I found this great chimmichaunga surf joint called "Olas" you all should try out. It's freakin' G- Double O- D... GOOD! My friend in Agura Hills heard that I was being sent out to the fields and told me to stop by this mom and pop's gun store that he highly recommended. What was nice was that it was next to Olas. So after I ate I skipped over to check it out. They also had the brand that I loved there. As I was looking around I heard a six shooter being spun. I didn't think anything of it and looked around some more. The younger guys helping out with my questions. 10 minutes later what was starting to get annoying was that spinning sound of the old wheel gun. So I looked over to where the glass cases meet in the corner was an old Caucasian man giving me the stink eye spinning his loaded gun looking like he wanted to shoot me. I thought "Really? What... an asshole." He wanted me out of there. So I left. I went back to H-wood and told everyone at the studio about my experience and to try out Olas but to never go to that pea shooter shop. I was going to give a 2 star rating but just thinking about the doddering old man sitting in the corner with a loaded gun and an itchy trigger. I'm gonna give this shop a star. Bought from these guys and they said they would hold my purchase until the needed paperwork came in. I spoke with them multiple times to confirm that the firearm was still on hold and they confirmed. When I went in to pick up my purchase, they had restocked it AFTER telling me it was hold then sold it to someone else, on top of being charged for the restocking fee. read more

This store is great for folks looking for reloading supplies, firearm cleaning supplies, and buying firearms in general. They have a great selection (of reloading supplies in particular which is amazing for this area) and are very helpful. Even while being crazy busy at the gun counter with sales and pickups they found the time to help me pick up some reloading supplies and checkout without waiting in the gun purchase line. They mentioned they took over the store in September 2015 and come out to gun shows all the time to help folks like me in the Santa Maria area get our reloading supplies. Went to Turner's in Oxnard and they were out of what I needed, so I decided to stop my camarillo gun store on a whim. Walked in already knowing what I wanted and was helped by an older gentleman. He instantly knew what I wanted and went on to show me his current gun and chatted with me for a good 10 minutes, literally the best customer service I've had in ages and very knowledgeable. The store has new owners as of a couple of years ago. The gun inventory is literally hundreds of guns including hand guns, rifles and shotguns. The selection of previously owned guns changes rapidly with popular guns selling very quickly and some hard to find guns available often. They have an extensive loaded ammunition inventory and an excellent selection of reloading supplies. Prices are fair and most often lower than the chain stores. If you put a gun up for sale on consignment then change yoir mind and want it back you have to treat it like a new sale. Wait 10 days do a new background check. Also a consignment gun is sold as is. Have been here in the past to check inventory. I recently bought a rifle . The transaction was as expected. The salesperson was helpful and seemed as frustrated by the state paperwork as I was. I have been a gun owner for 60yrs. Not much has changed in the use or design of firearms. Just legislation that makes it costly and difficult to do business in California. So much for attitudes. This is a small store and stock is limited due to space. You might have to go thru guns like excess baggage to find what you want. Do not be in a hurry. I t will save time and grief to know state gun laws and research before going. Also there is a new bill to restrict ammunition. This has been tried before. Hunting grounds and stores are becoming scarce. But the traffic goes on and on. read more

One of the store's veteran representatives was very informative when it came to trying to sell me the gun he felt was the right one. He was helpful but misinformed me about which guns were sold on the market and which were not allowed. I later found that the gun I wanted to buy was available for sale. He told me that no other gun store was selling the G19 cheaper than what their store was selling it for. I found it cheaper at another store later that week. Overall, he was helpful but just the fact that he hid some facts from me just to make the sale bothered me. read more

Honestly one of the most unprofessional and incompetent staff's I've ever had the experience of having to work with. when selling items(my guns) through them they refused to release my funds and when asked to then to return the items they give ridiculous excuses as to why they can't be returned to the owner. resulting in a situation in witch the staff refuses to release the funds, and refuses to return the items. this is equivalent to a sophisticated robbery. the staff also stone walls any attempts at resolving these issues and are very rude and are intentionally miss leading citing non existent regulations and fain ignorance when ask to return said items. camarillo gun store is essentially running an illicit operation. DON'T consign with this shop, stay away for your own good, or expect to have to find a lawyer to secure the return of your items read more

I would rate this establishment lower, but have to select a star. This is a local gun store and figured I would support the little store rather than the big chain stores. Well I won't be supporting this store. I went into the store to see what they were about. Checking out what they had to offer. I asked if they had .22 rimfire in stock and the gentlemen behind the counter said no. This is where it gets interesting, I proceeded to look around for other items I can purchase for reloading. While I am looking around, another guy comes in that he apparently knows and asks for .22 rimfire, and the same gentlemen behind the counter says, "yes, can you hold on and wait a few minutes because I just told this other guy I didn't have any in stock". I was 5 feet away from him when he told the other customer to wait a bit. So if you are looking to trust this gun store...I would say steer clear. What else do they lie about? I was looking for an FFL dealer and give this shop another try ( had a not so good experience the first time i went here). Carl (new owner) was very accommodating and politely answered all my questions. The cool thing is that they will still help you with the transfer even if they have the firearm in stock (which most guns shops will not do).
