Terrible pharmacy. Called in an RX and after 1 week, they still have not filled it, claiming they had to "order" the meds., after promising me the RX would be available in 2 days (important heart meds, taken daily). Constantly they give me the wrong drugs (scary!), they are not friendly or helpful, filling an RX is extremely slow, always tryiing to find my "lost" RX behind the cashier, they have to order every RX drug. Cambria Drug has no idea the customer is first and filling any RX comes with some urgency. The pharmacy manager is an idiot. They have problems with insurance, when other pharmacies do not. The worst pharmacy experience ever. Moved all my RX needs to Pill Save in Morro Bay with 5-star results. read more

Bad customer relations Unknowingly parked in a spot the owner claimed was posted no parking. This one spot at the end did not have a no parking sign above the space. Owner drove in and purposely blocked our car in by parking in the alley. After noticing him 3 times we wanted out he kept us waiting 45 minutes . Only when we mentioned calling the police did he relent and park in another space so we could get out. Whatever you do don't part in his unposted parking space in the rear of the pharmacy. read more

Lots of nice gift items. My wife bought a beanie and I bought a gift card and COVID test kit. The COVID test kit was $32 for two tests. That's highway robbery. Terrible value. The service was terrible. No one in line. I waited for 5 minutes for the cashier to finish chit chatting with one of his fiends in the store before he decided it was time for him to take care of me. Pathetic. I know the pace of life in Cambria may be a lot slower than other places, and this store is the only game in town, but that's no excuse for exorbitant prices and poor service. The gift items they carry are very nice. However, I no longer get my prescriptions here. The owner/pharmacist treats you like a drug addict. Even though it was my Dr who ordered my meds. I had assumed this situation was unique to me. Having shared my experience with other Cambria locals I found many others will not order from Cambria Drug & Gift either. They too felt they were being accused of being an addict. Most now go to Cayucos Pharmacy instead. read more

This pharmacy has never filled drugs in a timely matter. One time they actually gave me someone else's prescription bag. They often don't have what you need in stock, and when the pharmacist is at lunch they can't sell you the prescription. They are also very snippy. read more

Needed emergency migraine medication for my husband. Came on a Saturday and my husband wound up with a migraine and no pills, not good! Negative stars weren't an option so they get 1. Quite possibly the most unprofessional pharmacy that I've ever dealt with. I called my prescriptions in a week in advance since they're so slow and are closed on the weekends and for one I was told to come back tomorrow. I waited to speak with the pharmacist and instead of an apology I got an offer to "step outside " so he could "kick my ass". When I declined he stated that I was "all talk". I don't know what their past is. But me and my Roomate came to Cambria as part of a pit stop and when we walked to this store (the first store we walked into) we were met with hostility. They followed us around the store mind you we never indicated we would steal something. We actually bought something but it ruined our experience of the town. Took a picture because they don't even have a sign up anymore. We wore mask (covid era) and we abided by all rules. Sad cause Cambria was a beautiful town but left with a bad taste in my mouth because of this single store. Every experience I've had with Cambria Drug and Gift has been a positive one. My friend came to visit us and almost immediately learned from her doctor that she would need to take a specific antibiotic that is expensive and difficult to get. Cambria Drug and Gift was not only able to get it before Costco, but they filled the entire prescription at a better price than Costco offered for a quarter of the prescription. The people who work there are friendly and extremely helpful, especially the pharmacist. To tell you the truth, I've never dealt with a small, neighborhood pharmacy before coming to live in Cambria. I'm extremely impressed with the personal and professional approach to their work and I'm reassured that they're there whenever we may need them. read more

Avoid this pharmacy. There are alternatives in this small community. The prices here are high, especially drugs, and the attitudes suggest that the staff is annoyed one entered the store. I find this odd, particularly in the pharmacy, since one would expect that, at least there, the orientation would be that of a health professional, rather than a huckster. In any case, I had a very unpleasant experience; you might want to avoid the same. Go where the prices are more reasonable and the people working there are happy you stopped by. read more

Spoke with Cambria Drug's owner and Pharmacist Alvin Ferrer at 11:15am to confirm he had the medication on hand. Went to pick up at 1:15PM. Told by the vet they had refused a verbal over the phone from our vet, and need our entire dog's medical history and a written prescription faxes to them. They said they had received nothing. I called my vet back and they confirmed our Veterinarian has not only spoken with the Pharmacist "technician" twice, but the information was faxed. I asked them to confirm the fax number and found out they were one digit off, TWO HOURS LATER (FOR A TOTAL OF 4 PILLS), while we stood outside in the hot sun....we finally received her medication, and charged $47.95 for 4 PILLS; which is normally $17.89 for 60 pills. When I questioned the charge the clerk stated that was without insurance. I told him I always pay $17.89 at Walgreens or CVS for 60 pills non-insured. He told me I could go elsewhere if I don't like their price. Well....I don't like their price. They are RIPPING OFF THEIR TOURIST who supports their economy, as much as you could totally tell from the owner and staff, your business is NOT wanted here. So I was charged $11.98 a pill when the normal price is 30 cents a pill. I was going to buy a few other items, and left everything there. I will NEVER give them an ounce of business. Ripping off your tourist clientele, that helps to keep your town alive, is not something to be proud of ALVIN FERRER! read more

4th rate pharmacy. Won't fill a new, one time prescription unless customer moves all of their prescriptions to this pharmacy! What?! Not going to happen. I have good mail in service through insurance for repeat presc. that is quick and always correct. Staff here are often rude, there's high turnover, inefficient refill service, chaotic. An air of moribundity pervades this place. "Loop.net website" showed this pharmacy, the French Corner Bakery, the parking lot, and A Matter of Taste are all one parcel and were for sale, 2017. Stopped by as an out of towner because I ran out of a prescription and asked If I could get a refill here if my doctor called it in. I was met with an extremely rude staff that immediately told me it was a controlled substance (ambien) and that they would not fill it (as if I am a junky asking begging for more Norcos or something) and that I would have to have all my prescriptions filled here If I wanted help. I just find that extremely unacceptable if someone needs a medication and don't live here or are traveling and need a script refilled. We visited Cambria six years ago and my husband bought a cap there. He really loves it, and after wearing it almost continually, it is worn out. We did not remember the name of the shop where we bought it. I took a chance and looked up a list of Cambria stores online. I called Cambria Drug and Gift, and Dena was nice enough to call back and then text pictures of the caps they have. We were able to choose two which are similar to the original. Dena mailed them to us. We are very pleased and certainly will visit again as soon as we are able. read more

Shoddy products and do not stand behind their customers. I purchased a purse and within one week the clasp broke. Turned out it was plastic, not metal. I replaced the strap myself. I did NOT use the purse every day. After little more than 2 months the faux leather was shedding off the body of the purse. I was shocked at such cheap construction. When I sent this information to the store, they responded with basically "Sorry but too bad. Won't replace or refund." I just threw $30 away. My friends and I are planning another trip to Cambria but will never buy anything from this ripoff store. Buyer beware. read more

If I could do 0 stars I would. Horrible customer service over the phone and in person. Never have I witnessed an entire staff that openly disrespects their customers but also the pharmacists talking trash about employees and customers. I've been told, "we don't have to tell you your prescriptions are ready and you didn't call it in" on numerous occasions because of their own clerical errors. I tried giving them another shot in an emergency for antibiotics, and it was the wrong choice. Even when phoning in to confirm an electronic prescription is being filled, they don't start until you get there to pick it up and take an hour. You ask the same question and get a different answer from each employee and then they blame it on you. No wonder the whole town took their business to Morro Bay. I suggest you do the same and avoid the hassle. read more

I came into this drug store to browse around and see what they had. I was impressed with the variety of first aid and sundry items along with a nice selection of greeting cards and gifts. I ended up purchasing a few items. The female cashier was very friendly, however, she had problems processing my purchase with a credit card. She even asked another employee to help but something was wrong with their "system" that neither one could figure out. I finally offered to pay with cash which I didn't really want to do (it was over $50). As I was waiting at the counter, I heard their phone ringing. No one bothered to answer their phone as it continued to ring. There were 2 pharmacists and a cashier. Although they were all busy, I felt that one of them could at least pick up the phone. What if someone needed to fill up an important prescription? I felt sorry for whoever it was that was trying to call. read more

Lorelei was such an amazing help! I was on vacation & my doc was supposed to send a prescription to Cambria Drugs & Gifts. She kept looking, & finally found it (doc sent it a couple of times). I had also asked if she could contact Walgreens near my home to transfer another prescription & she gladly agreed. When paying for my first prescription (with a different person in the pharmacy), I couldn't find my prescription insurance card (why does there have to be a separate card?), & I ended up paying full price for it. I wouldn't be able to pay full price for both prescriptions, so I called Cambria Drug & Gifts & asked them not to transfer my prescription. I was having quite a bit of trouble with my asthma & really needed both prescriptions, so I called my insurance to help me with my prescription card. Success! So, back we went to get the difference back on the first med. Lorelei helped me again. She said, "Of course we can charge insurance for the first," etc. I went on to tell her that I hope she didn't get my message about not calling Walgreens...of course, being the ultra efficient person that she is, she had already called Walgreens back to cancel the transfer. But she said she'd call them back. She had someone else finish the charging of my first script, then she rang me up. I thanked her for all her help & asked her if she would mind calling Walgreens again. She'd already done it! She said she'd call me in the morning to let me know when my 2nd script would be ready. I am not sure who the girl was who yelled at me on the phone, but I have not been treated with disrespect recently. This sundry shop on Main Street has all the charm and cutesiness you want from ANY small shop on ANY Main Street in ANY town. On the outside. Set foot in here and you leave Smalltown USA and arrive directly on Planet Weird. The shop itself is fine - there appeared to be many locals in line to fill and pick up prescriptions, and on a Monday morning it looked like any other drug store. BF and I were probably the only tourists in there. In terms of tourist appeal, this is a great stop for picking up things you may have forgotten when packing like toothpaste or deodorant. Prices aren't desirable, but neither is not brushing those teethies during your romantic long weekend away. A few years back, this was also one of a handful of locations in town that proudly stocked the novel The Haunting of Cambria by Richard Taylor, a delightfully spooky book set in the town and full of locations and businesses you'll be familiar with if you know the area (including a few no longer around like The Brambles Dinner House). Highly recommended! Twice over the years though I've popped in for simple things, and it's never a smooth transaction. They most definitely move in slow motion, and their happy demeanors disappear when they see an unfamiliar face approaching with purchases (which makes no sense to me - I'm here to buy deodorant and a Diet Pepsi, not burn down your town and kidnap your children. Commerce is good, peeps!) My most recent visit was a doozie. I saw the I HEART CAMBRIA monkey in their window and thought it would be a cool souvenir but would up more charmed by a small ceramic wall hanging depicting a beach scene with the town name - it was just a better fit, and would be a happy reminder of the town I love hanging on the wall back home. I handed the item to my cashier and her previously smiling face went blank. She asked me where I found it, and I pointed to an area not far behind me and in clear eyeshot of all the cashiers. She walked over to the display and then walked back to find a manager I assume - no idea on the price, and apparently no quick reference guide. Once she found the price, she moved in slow motion ringing it up on the register. She seemed to sense my growing irkyness and halfheartedly asked how my morning was going. I was pleasantly surprised and said "Fine, thank you!", and her response to that was to laugh at me and say "That's funny...". And there went my nice morning. My little souvenir ended up costing $9.99 which made me choke but whatever - I wanted it so I paid up and hauled buns out the door. I kinda hope I never have a reason to return. It's endlessly frustrating and weird how half the businesses and shop owners here are incredibly welcoming and kind, and the other half are unfortunately snobby and bizarre. If there's an alternative anywhere nearby for sundries, I'm not aware of it. Take my advice - pack really well before you leave. If not, prepare for an adventure. An overpriced one. read more

I live in Cambria and drive 30 minutes to avoid using this pharmacy. I have tried to give them a chance but they are rude and unwilling to fill prescriptions that they are not comfortable filling (although the patient has stage 4 cancer). Every other pharmacy we have ever been in has had no issues. In a small town with an older population you would think they would go out of their way to accommodate. I choose to give my business to people who are compassionate, helpful and appreciative of the people that walk through their door. read more

The prices for the items are kind of expensive but since my family and I were on vacation, we decided that we needed it. The store was is a good size. They had a lot of gifts and a variety of stuff.
