From 12 till 2 you can have lunch in the Cambria Pines Lounge. They have great service with a friendly bartender/server. Nice sitting there with a nice fire going. I would like the lightning a little lower. Very cute area. Like you're in a cabin. Food is good. The salmon salad is very good. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Very moist. Hubby had the French Dip. Could have had a bit more meat on it. But it was tasty. We enjoyed our meal.

We had breakfast here, that was included with our stay. It was buffet style. There were pancakes, sausage, plain scrambled eggs and scrambled eggs with pepper and onions with cheese on the top. There were also hard boiled eggs and roasted potatoes. There was a toaster making where you make your selection of bread, either white or wheat, and place it at the top of the toaster. When it's done it falls to the bottom tray. You have options of butter and jellies for the toast. There was also coffee, hot tea and orange juice. There was a cold cereal self serve area with cut up bananas and oranges. As well as hot oatmeal. Vanilla yogurt was also an option with granola and sweetened blueberries as toppings. The condiments included ketchup, pancake syrup and fresh salsa for the eggs. Everything is self service. There was a very long line of people waiting to get in before they even opened. They had a lot of seating options. I'd say the food was just okay. It wasn't the best but it did the job. The pancakes were terrible and the potatoes were hard and dry. The scrambled eggs with onions and peppers were very good with the fresh salsa. The hard boiled eggs, yogurt with granola and fruit and the toast with butter and jam were also very good. Their coffee was terrible. The orange juice was the best option for a beverage.

We enjoyed dinner at the lodge on an overnight stay. We had booked the dinner and stay package and could choose from any entrees on the menu. I chose the scallops and my husband the prime rib special. Additionally, we ordered the crab cakes and shrimp scampi appetizer. The ambiance itself is super cozy and quaint. The service was slower but not in an annoying way. It felt like a slower pace dinning experience, which personally I really enjoyed. The busser brought water and warm bread to our table right away- which was awesome! The appetizers were both very good! The one entree that was not desirable was the prime rib. It was very thin, tough to cut through and certainly overcooked. I would pass on the prime rib. The scallops were really wonderful! I would certainly order them again! The next time we're staying at the lodge, I'm sure we would make plans to come again!

Went here for dinner before going to the Christmas Market. We had reservations for 5pm. Our food didn't arrive until 6:30pm! Service was friendly but they obviously did not staff the kitchen correctly for a busy night. Good was ok but very pricey. Had the filet pomme frites which was tender but fries needed salt and the demi glaze was tasteless. Other items we had: Seared scallops were good Ravioli Trio was good but mostly sauce with a few ravioli Prime Rib was good The lodge itself is decorated festively. I would go back for drinks but not to eat.

Stayed here with my family and everyone loved it. Very kid friendly. Large property with many beautiful garden's. Positive energy, observed many birds and deer on the property. Their pool and hot tub were nice. Our room was somewhat outdated but very spacious and clean. All in all we cannot wait to go back.

The Cambria Pines Lodge Restaurant is delightful. We were staying at a local dog friendly hotel in Cambria and the front desk highly recommended the restaurant at the Cambria Pines Lodge as a pet friendly must go to for a delicious dinner. We arrived without a reservation and were greeted by very welcoming and friendly hosts. We were promptly guided to a wonderful patio table in a garden setting that was directly adjacent to an open fire in a fireplace. Such a memorable location. Our server was very welcoming and friendly and introduced us to the specials of the day while handing us menus. We had a hard time deciding between all of the tempting choices. We ultimately ordered the Swordfish with a Cajun Cream sauce and the Blackened Salmon served on a bed of penne pasta with a sun-dried tomato pesto cream sauce. These turned out to both be taste sensations! The swordfish was perfectly cooked and the Cajun cream sauce was delicious. The blackened salmon was superb and the penne in the sun dried tomato pesto sauce was a wonderful partner to the robust spice combination of the salmon. We absolutely loved our first visit to the restaurant at the Cambria Pines Lodge. The next time we are in the area we will definitely return for more of their delectable options. Yay!

Had a magical night at the pines lodge restaurant- sat outside by the craft made fireplace and enjoyed delicious food. The Pines has improved much recently to provide world class cuisine and excellent service. Love it.

This is a popular spot! The lounge was hopping with live music, singing and dancing, people playing cards and drinking. You can order food in there too. We ate in the restaurant- it's maybe a little dated, with the wallpaper and plastic tablecloths, but cozy with candlelight and plenty of tables. Not too many choices, for the giant menu; plenty of seafood and about 4-5 other choices: chicken, pork chop, burger, steak. They have prime rib every night but usually sell out. We got a couple and they were very good. We also had the scallops based upon a friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint. The sauce w/ mushrooms and greens and the scallops was excellent. I had a burger, it was way too salty. I wouldn't order that again. Our waiter was extra chatty. He recommended a wine that was different from what we ordered, it was an upsell, but we did enjoy it. He gave us a cake and ice cream for my Dads birthday and that was nice The prices are $$$ 4 of us $227 before tip.

I couldn't believe how good this place was being that it's a restaurant at our lodging. You know how it typically goes, they hike up the charges for convenience, and the food is mid. The restaurant in Cambria Pines was great! Very reasonable prices, especially for the area, $42 for our 10 oz steaks, and $13 for the appetizer. Vibes were great, good music, beautiful property, and fresh veggies from their kitchen garden! The steaks and potatoes were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor, we will definitely be back!

This is our second time visiting this restaurant. The first time we chose this restaurant was when we stayed at Cambria Pines Lodge in August last year. Due to the Cambria Christmas Market event, it was fully booked; so we were assigned outdoor seating. However, we enjoyed the opportunity to experience outdoor seating. We have now tried the GRILLED PORK CHOP, FILET MIGNON, FRIED CALAMARI, CAJUN CHICKEN PASTA, and the most delicious chocolate cake. All in all, this place has excellent service and great food. But the menu doesn't have many choices. We highly recommend the triple chocolate cake. The flavor is rich and delicious. Also, if available, reserve outdoor seating for more privacy and a relaxed atmosphere.

Seeing that there was a Patio and that everywhere I had been up to that point, including our hotel, had allowed dogs, I walked over with my tiny pup in his little carry bag. When we arrived, I saw that the patio was enclosed, so I realized I might have to take my pup back to the hotel, but then saw an open air spot with tables and chairs in the parking lot. I would have been willing to sit there and order, so my companion went to ask if that was possible, but was given a very quick and rude "we're not pet friendly", which I was an attitude I was already catching on to as I walked closer and saw unnecessarily large "no pets" signs. I was offended, not for the policy, but because I was already starting to see that was the case & it would have been so easy just to say it gently or nicely & acknowledge that our inquiry was no longer about coming into the restaurant or patio at all. That response made the difference between us taking the doggo back to the hotel room to return for dinner or writing a negative review apparently, because it felt condescending and no food experience is worth feeling unwelcome - especially when every place surrounding the area was completely pet friendly. They are located on a beach, but that day with not-so-relaxed vibes when a simple redirect would have been perfectly fine. I'm a pet person, and it's ok if that's not something you accommodate, I completely understand (especially, sadly, because some pet owners are not responsible, and their pets act like animals and not necessarily family members) - but there's no excuse for being rude when your entire job is service. You're in a beach spot where people come to relax with the people (or animal companions) they love most, no need to have an unfortunate attitude. :( Sorry restaurant/ chef/ other staff, I really would have liked to try the food. P.S. Dog-friendly places can happily have all my money, cheers to patio dining in (most of) California.

In fact is was so warm that my wife had to go outside to cool off a couple of times. Service was stellar. From the server, (Ramona) to the other staff. They took very good care of us. Kept our waters full and checked on us several times during our visit. Let's get down to it. The moment that counts. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. They were FANTASTIC. They were stuffed with a feta type cheese and were absolutely delish! My main dish wass the Filet Mignon. I ordered it medium. It came with veggies and mashed potatoes. When the steak showed up it looked good and I cut into the steak. It was done to perfection. It had some kind of JD whiskey sauce on it. I took a bite and it was awesome. SO much flavor. I was in heaven. It was like eating candy. I have always considered The Range in Santa Margarita the best but THIS, yeah this was going to be hard to beat! The Sows Ear was now top dog! The mashed potatoes were epic as well. Perfectly cooked and very creamy. The veggies, (broccoli, squash, and carrots), were great as well. Not a huge squash fan but they did not over do the squash and it was just full of flavor. This REALLY went well when it came to the food. The portions were spot on. Lastly we come to the dessert. We had the Mud Pie. Yep, it was a HUGE piece for less than $10.00. Great value and man.........., was it good. Enough for 2 people. It really creates that intimate setting when you can share with your significant other and it be more then enough. This place would have gotten 5 stars had the interior temp been comfortable. 4.5 stars! The bill for the two of us, no alcohol, was right at $140.00. with tip were out the door at approx. $170.00. Thanks to the staff for making this experience great! Ramona, Katie, and the guy walking around that made sure we were good! They made a great team! I would totally recommend the Sow's Ear in Cambria. This place is everything you would expect and you will not be disappointed. Don't miss out on this place! Worth every penny. That is all! Have a great day!

Did I laugh out loud when I heard their out going phone message, yes, yes I did! We were two doors down staying at the Sand Pebbles Inn. On a Friday night we arrived about 5:30 p.m. No line. We brought a bottle of wine and sat near the fire pit and talked to a few folks while waiting for our table. They said come back at 7:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Predictably we powered though our one bottle of chardonnay. I took a stroll back to the hotel to grab another. By the time I got back my wife had already been seated. It was about 6:15 p.m. So much for the high demand and long wait. She got sat towards the back at a little two top table nowhere near the front with the ocean view. Meh. Okay let's do this. We put in an order of the Clams Casino to start, clam chowder, and we were going to split the large order of Cioppino. This is no knock on the restaurant but we were seated next to a couple that really liked each other. I mean a lot. Luckily my wife had her back to them. I tried not to watch but they were going at it pretty hard for being in a well lit crowded restaurant. Good for them? Ahh, to be 30 again. Sourdough bread was really sour. I don't think I've ever thought twice about bread being served at a restaurant until now. Clams Casino comes out and it's not looking so good. We know what this dish is and supposed to be. This was a bad version to say the least. There was little to no breadcrumbs. Just some clams on the half shell swimming in butter and garlic with a slice of bacon on top. A poor excuse for this dish. Only $27.50! I suggest they try Brophy Brothers Garlic Baked Clams. About a million times better and about $10.00 less. Then came the clam chowder. I've had clam chowder high and low and this was some of the worse I've ever had. First off it's kinda translucent and appears to be thickened with cornstarch or maybe xanthan gum. All I can tell you is it's gooey, not creamy, short on clams, and tastes of over powering black pepper. We also discovered an unexpected ingredient, spinach. This confused both of us to no end. So at this point my wife says she's had enough of this and tells the waitress to cancel the Cioppino, and bring us the check. She says back, it's too late for that. My wife isn't taking no for an answer and stands her ground. Where am I this whole time? I'm hiding behind my glass of wine wishing we were some where else. They brought the check without incident and we left. What a train wreck that was.
