All the creature comforts! Sidney gives a full four paws review!!

Sits on a corner with plenty of free street parking (at least in September.). Pups welcome and there is a cute outdoor patio that hugs corner; enter through that door (a few steps to access.) Lots to look at, fun signs and great vibe. Also a small covered patio at main entrance. The staff were epic. Very welcoming, kind and gave excellent sincere service. Appreciated the water bowl for my pup! Food is basic fare; you're not coming here for a foodie experience. Instead, soak up local color, meet and chat with others and enjoy a meal/full bar with your beloved pup companion! I'm here for a week; I'll be back.

Love the ambiance in this place! There's artsy pictures of Frida, Katarina and Marilyn Monroe plus old west artifacts. Our wonderful server seated us with a nice view of the street so we could people watch. You can get the fish of the day with salad, rice or fries. I got the Mahi mahi and it was moist and tasty. My friend loved her juicy burger and fries. You can also get beer, local wines, ice tea or lemonade. Everything was delicious and there's plenty of seating.

This is my second time here. I love their salads. So far this is all I have tried. But I loved it so much I went back again to get the same thing. I love a good steak and onions rings, and why not have it all on a salad! Everyone who works here is so friendly and helpful. The only thing I would say is it could be kept up a little more. I loved trying the patio this time. It was a beautiful day for it!

Filet Mignon with rice pilaf and vegetables

A cozy mountain cabin style restaurant, with 2 floors of indoor seating and a small covered outdoor seating area. We had the breaded calamari appetizer which was okay. For the main entree, I had the bacon wrapped filet mignon with rice pilaf and vegetables. The filet mignon was tender and juicy, but slightly bland (maybe I should have asked for the peppercorn sauce?). The bacon strip wrapped around the edges of the steak was disappointingly soft (sorry, but I like my bacon crispy). The rice pilaf was very tasty, but the vegetables were too soft. My guest had the calamari steak with rice pilaf and vegetables. The calamari steak was identical to the appetizer except it came as a flat steak instead of strips. Nevertheless, it had a nice crispy crust and the calamari itself was okay. We were not offered a dessert menu; not sure if they offer desserts. Overall, the ambience and service were great, the food was average/good, and our dishes were in the mid $30's. May try it again and order something different. It's a cute little place with lots of personality and I hope they can up the their game food wise.

If I could give negative starts this place is the Winner! Fish and chips. Fish is like large Fishsticks. Ordered Alfredo pasta we got cooked noodles with tons of watered down Alfredo. Food came out extremely fast. I would prefer a little wait to have better prepared food. Overpriced

We were looking for an affordable lunch in Cambria and decided to drop into this place. Being a weekday, it was busy and we were seated right away and given menus. I ordered their Cajun Burger with fries and hubby ordered a bowl of their clam chowder. The food came out and was flavorful and filling. Service was attentive, there weren't any issues; couldn't ask for more! Their interior is decorated with random items like framed newspaper pages highlighting events in Cambria. It has a log cabin facade with fun tchotchkes hung up on the walls. It was entertaining to point things out while we waited for our meal!

And the onion rings were pretty boring. I don't think they make them there, I am not sure about that, though. But they had kind of a generic look and feel to them, but the problem was they had zero flavor. Like nobody put salt on them when they took them out of the fryer. That's the first thing you do when you pull something out of a fryer, you season it. The server was nice enough, but they have a thing now where if you ask for water, they want to sell you a bottle of water. I get that things are tough for restaurants, but I almost rather pay a little more for the sandwich and get water, if you know what I mean. I'm no food expert, or running a restaurant expert, these are just my reactions as a local who stops in here fairly regularly. I think if the folks who run this place feel like there's any value to my little thoughts, they would be easy to fix and wouldn't cost anything at all really. I've been coming here for years, and I want these folks to do well.

We enjoyed cocktails in the parking lot and met some nice people visiting from Evergreen, CO. We love the atmosphere when you first arrive, with all of the chefs prepped in anticipation of the bustle of the first patrons arriving. We split the Rockefeller for a starter. It went great with the Markham Sauv Blanc!! We had the shrimp scampi over pasta--so ridiculously good, it should be illegal. We also had the sea bass which was tasty. The potatoes on the side are perfectly done every time. I would say a 4pm arrival is probably the right time to get in line. Worth the wait!!

Not worth the hype…read more We went to Sea Chest Oyster Bar last night. Honestly, it was extremely disappointing. The food was lackluster and bland. The Clam Chowder tasted like flour and needed salt. The Soy Ginger Mahi Mahi was presented with the Soy Ginger sauce on the side, rather than being cooked in. It was so bland you had to search for the flavor of the sauce. I'm not sure how a dish with soy needed more salt, but it certainly did. Rather than it being a reduction or the fish actually cooked in it, it was just flavorless. And don't get me started on my Halibut. All of the fish is cooked in butter, which should give it some flavor, but it did not. We are usually plate-cleaners, but we both ate only about half of our meal. Lackluster, boring, bland. I would say it was a one-note flavor, but you'd have to have some flavor for that to be true. The only positive I have about the fish is that it was fresh, so I guess there's something. The service was fine. I can imagine what it's like to have an entire restaurant sat at the same time, so there should be some forgiveness there. But for $200 for two people for one appetizer, two entrees, and three glasses of wine, I would expect to be able to get through the meal.

Kept our waters full and checked on us several times during our visit. Let's get down to it. The moment that counts. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. They were FANTASTIC. They were stuffed with a feta type cheese and were absolutely delish! My main dish wass the Filet Mignon. I ordered it medium. It came with veggies and mashed potatoes. When the steak showed up it looked good and I cut into the steak. It was done to perfection. It had some kind of JD whiskey sauce on it. I took a bite and it was awesome. SO much flavor. I was in heaven. It was like eating candy. I have always considered The Range in Santa Margarita the best but THIS, yeah this was going to be hard to beat! The Sows Ear was now top dog! The mashed potatoes were epic as well. Perfectly cooked and very creamy. The veggies, (broccoli, squash, and carrots), were great as well. Not a huge squash fan but they did not over do the squash and it was just full of flavor. This REALLY went well when it came to the food. The portions were spot on. Lastly we come to the dessert. We had the Mud Pie. Yep, it was a HUGE piece for less than $10.00. Great value and man.........., was it good. Enough for 2 people. It really creates that intimate setting when you can share with your significant other and it be more then enough. This place would have gotten 5 stars had the interior temp been comfortable. 4.5 stars! The bill for the two of us, no alcohol, was right at $140.00. with tip were out the door at approx. $170.00. Thanks to the staff for making this experience great! Ramona, Katie, and the guy walking around that made sure we were good! They made a great team! I would totally recommend the Sow's Ear in Cambria. This place is everything you would expect and you will not be disappointed. Don't miss out on this place! Worth every penny. That is all! I do not eat seafood, therefore this review is based off of my group. My husband enjoyed the oysters stating they were fresh and sweet. My daughter loved the calamari. I was quite underwhelmed with the spicy tequila cream chicken pasta. I was told that the dish was very spicy. To me, there was barely a hint of heat to it. The flavors was lacking. I feel as if the sliced onions should be left out. Our friend ordered the cioppino and mentioned the same thing, the sliced onions made the dish taste a little off but otherwise delicious. The kids fusilli with Parmesan was ok. It was basically tossed in butter and she can add her own Parmesan. The rib eye came out medium well. We thought that maybe it was just the ends that were a bit more cooked, however, almost the entire steak was medium well. The only part that we didn't eat was looked to be medium. Although the steak was not cooked to our preferred temperature, it was very flavorful and tender. And we sure were hungry after a day of exploring. We ate nearly the entire plate. I didn't want to mention anything since we ate 90% of the plate, but our friend convinced us to bring it up to the server. And so I did, not wanting to anything to be done about it. We did nearly finish it. We also did not want to wait longer for the steak to be re-made. I paid for my tab and it was well under what I had expected the total to be. I scanned through the itemized receipt and realized that they took off the steak. I felt ashamed for even bringing it up since we basically ate it all. The cocktails were great. Not too watered down or too heavy with alcohol. The restaurant has an amazing view overlooking the Pacific Ocean and offers outdoor seating. The service is quick and everyone was very friendly. Will I came again? For sure. Just not for pasta.
