Dined at Robin Restaurant today and overall we had a mix of hits and misses, but there were definitely a few dishes we really enjoyed! We got lucky and got moved to the outside table with live music. Beautiful garden with fruit trees and flowers. We started with the fried calamari, which was pretty good and actually ended up being the kids' favorite appetizer. We also tried the garlic bread, but unfortunately it wasn't our favorite. For the mains, the kids had the pepperoni pizza made with pita bread, which was a nice option for them. The short rib with mashed potatoes and carrots was okay, but nothing really memorable. The enchiladas with green sauce, though, were easily the best dish of the meal! The sauce was flavorful and the whole dish was really good. We also ordered the Thai green curry (not pictured). It tasted good, but it was a little too salty for us. I wish it came with more rice to balance out the saltiness. We took dessert to go and tried the carrot cake ($11) and a regular ice cream sundae ($17). The carrot cake was really good, especially with the nuts, cinnamon, and cream cheese goodness. Definitely the better dessert choice! The sundae tasted good too, but it came in a small plastic cup and for $17, I just didn't think it was worth the price. Overall, there were some good dishes and some that were just okay. Friends said we had to come here since it's their favorite place to get in Cambria. Definitely a gorgeous patio for ambiance. The inside is also like a treehouse, very cute. We tried to go Saturday but it was 1.5hr wait so we made reservations for Sunday and there was no crowd. We got to sit outside and see the beautiful garden. It took a little bit for the server to come greet us but seems to be the norm in Cambria. We ordered: -Peruvian chicken- good but a little dry. Green sauce helped make the taste yummy. -Short rib was very tender and fell right off the bone -Filet mignon was all gone -the daily special of Wagyu chow mein was my least favorite. Beef was overcooked and it was just ehh. -chocolate pistachio tart was delicious! Not too sweet but very tasty! -carrot cake as well was great! Moist and different. Wow, the Robin's Chow was undeniably awesome. The noodles,sauce, vegetables, and chicken were cooked and mixed to perfection. Of course we got the ice cream hot fudge sundae for dessert. Stopped in on the way to Hearst Castle. We wanted a place that had something for everyone, and we were all happy. My bride had the Thai chicken and it was delicious. I had the shrimp scampi special and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the shrimp and how well it was prepared, the dish was fabulous. So glad we chose to dine here for our 40th Anniversary weekend celebration. Everything about this place was amazing. Our server Maggie was so sweet and helpful with our meal selection. We started with the garlic sourdough bread which was incredible. I had the Ahi Poke stack as my dinner and it could not have been better. Very fresh, flavorful and for me plenty big enough for a meal. My husband had the Robins Chow and he too thought everything tasted fantastic. This was within walking distance of where we were staying so we decided to check it out. It's open air and there's greenery everywhere which was very nice, and as the evening became cooler they turned on their outdoor gas heaters which was much appreciated. We ordered the Salmon, the chicken, and the lamb curry. Each one of these dishes were absolutely delicious, they came out hot and in a timely manner. I was particularly impressed with the lamb curry because I was expecting it to be watered down, but it was not. It didn't have as much heat as my Dad's, but it tasted authentic. It took a ridiculously long time for anyone to approach our table once we were seated. Usually if servers are super busy or they get double seated or something, one of the managers will help them out by coming over and telling us someone's on their way, or they might get our drink order started, they do something to help mitigate the absence of acknowledgment from the server, but that did not happen. I observed the comings and going's of all the staff (managers, servers, bussers) that were passing us by and every single one of them averted their eyes. This is not what I expected from a place like this, and every moment that passed made the experience even more off putting. Just as I was deciding to get up and leave the restaurant, because it seemed like we were invisible, our server showed up. Just in time. Sitting out in the garden feels lovely and like you are tucked away (and the space heaters do their job). There were a lot of tasty sounding menu items and easily shared the salted beets and Thai green chicken. Both had wonderful flavor and were delicious; we were super happy with our order and would absolutely order those items again. We, my daughter and I went there for my birthday. The staff there were such nice, accommodating people! The restaurant is an historic adobe home with a lovely indoors, atrium, or patio in which to dine. We shared a great pinot, one glass of wine but in two glasses, and I think he added some extra because both looked like full orders. We had the salted beets. My daughter ate the feta (she is not vegan, and it was not vegan). It was really good and a hugh portion! We ate every scrap. Then we got the Chile relleno and shared that. All I can say is WOW! It was that good! For dessert we shared their vegan Vegalicious Sundae, which they gave me for my birthday (my 83rd, BTW). I wish I lived closer. I would be there once a week. read more

I was slightly annoyed that they escorted several people to their tables before me even though I was there first. But once I was seated the awesome wait staff made up for it. We were here in March a few years ago and liked it so much we decided to come again during our December visit. The place is even more charming during the holidays with the Christmas decorations and lights adorning the warm wood interior. The restaurant is housed in a cozy historic home built in 1935, and that vibes still lingers in the dining rooms and garden setting. We felt like we were dining in a piece of the town's story. The food reflects the culture of the central coast. Well executed, simple but with a global influence, comforting and fresh. On this visit, highlights included the filet mignon, cooked to a perfect medium rare and plated over mashed potatoes with a velvety demi glace sauce and mushrooms. The baby back ribs, which were tender with a wonderful savory glaze. The autumn salad was fresh with seasonal apples, squash, pomegranate, and feta mingling nicely together. For dessert we shared the pumpkin cheesecake which creamy not overly sweet and a graham crust that crumbled nicely together to the chew. We booked reservations for a Tuesday but were I. Town on Monday so stopped to see if we could have lunch that day I stead? Was meeting up with some long time friends in Cambria and we decided to go to Robin's. We made a reservation online and arrived a bit early. They had a garden table for us, even though the reservation system said none were available. What a peaceful setting. The tables were spaced appropriately so that the guests could still have meaningful conversations without having to worry about being overheard. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and boy was I happy. The fries were amazing, wish there had been more since I had to pace myself while I ate my burger!! My friends enjoyed their meals, as well. First time here, and what a wonderful experience from start to finish--even for our little Chihuahua! This is truly a dog-friendly restaurant. The garden outdoor seating area was so charming and relaxing. They even offered space heaters which we didn't need but was nice it was an option. We started with the Tuna Poke Stack, and it was delicious. The combination of fresh tuna, sweet mango, and creamy avocado was the perfect way to begin our meal. For my entrée, I ordered the seafood special featuring white seabass, and I can honestly say it was one of the best seabass dishes I've ever had--and I order seabass whenever I get the chance. It was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. My boyfriend had the short ribs, which he really enjoyed, although he admitted my seabass was the winner! We paired dinner with a bottle of Daou 2023 Pessimist, which was outstanding and complemented every bite. Even our Chihuahua got to join in with the grilled chicken from the dog menu, and he absolutely loved it! To finish the evening, we shared the Pistachio Chocolate Torte. The rich dark chocolate paired beautifully with the wine and was the perfect ending to an exceptional meal. A special shoutout to Roxanne, who made the evening even more memorable. She was warm, professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Her outstanding service elevated an already fantastic dining experience. We left already looking forward to our next visit. I had performed some research on Cambria restaurants before venturing out on my trip and make reservations in advance at Robin's. I arrived and checked-in and was immediately seated. The restaurant was separated into three areas: inside, outside and the garden. We were seated outside directly under the heaters. The outside area was cool looking as roots from the surrounding plants wrapped around the wooden structure. I got to peek indoors and the inside area was quaint as if you were in a house. As for the food, we ordered garlic bread, Peruvian Chicken, the pork chop, brown ale short rib and chop suey. We also had the split pea soup all around and I ordered a special item salad with spinach, strawberries, pecans, feta cheese and croutons. The soups, bread and my salad came out first. The bread was good, the salad was great and the split pea soup was not great. I'm used to my pea soup with ham and bacon and this was a vegetarian option. The main courses arrived and everything looked good. My pork chop was dry although it had good flavor. The brown ale short rib received the best rating at the table. The chop suey was OK and my wife hated the Peruvian Chicken. This ended up being the second largest restaurant bill during my vacation. Overall three stars with good ambience. read more

We absolutely love Robins. The food is great and tonight was no different. We always go here at east once each trip to Cambria. We were looking forward to dessert afterward. But after waiting 30 minutes after our plates were cleared for anyone to come by to see if we wanted dessert, we finally had to flag down a bus boy to ask for our check. So we decided to not get dessert and when our waiter came by we didn't let him leave without our credit card so that we wouldn't have to wait another 15 minutes. The curry was tasty, just wish it had a bit more coconut flavor since it was more avocadoey, but still really good! Prices were reasonable and the service was great. Our server was really attentive and friendly the whole time, even while dealing with a "Karen" nearby, which we noticed and appreciated. The place itself is really lovely, especially the floral garden, such a cute vibe. Only thing is it could be a little more spacious. Friendly staff, beautiful outdoor setting (I remember indoor area being lovely, but it's been years since I've sat there because we now visit Cambria with our dog and sit on the patio). The patio is within a charming garden. We were seated next to a pear tree. The waitress said when her kids were little, she used to put the pears in her kids' lunches. Isn't that sweet? We had the beet salad (looks a bit messy but it's delicious), Peruvian chicken, and vegetable/ tofu Penang curry. Super flavorful. Curry had so much veg and tofu that I was too full to have dessert. Maybe next time we'll skip the salad so I can have dessert! read more
