We're in town for a 3-day getaway and obviously wanted to partake in wineries and dining options. We decided on Italian for one of the three nights and Lombardi's kept coming up in our searches. I saw the mediocre reviews here on Yelp, but that can go either way sometimes. So, we gave it a try. The server was pleasant and it was clear she wanted to do a good job; no complaint there. The food however, is absolutely terrible. There is zero flavor to anything. And the prices for what you get and how it tastes are ridiculous. My wife had chicken Alfredo (pictured) except that it's not an Alfredo sauce. It's a creamier version of a flavorless butter sauce. There is also no flavor to the chicken whatsoever. The entire dish really has nothing to offer. I had the ravioli and asked to upgrade to meat sauce which seemed to be a concern of the server as far as making that happen. She was able to do it though but made sure I knew I would be charged extra for it... no problem. I expect that. I also asked for the dinner salad which costs $7.95 and you can eat it in five bites. That's a bit ridiculous especially at a place like this. Once my ravioli came it was also completely flavorless. The red sauce is just a tomato-y bland paste of a sauce. The meat was literally just ground beef with an overkill of oregano. Nothing else. "Garlic" bread comes with every meal but it's really just buttered toast. This was quite disappointing. The restaurant is very dirty, especially the carpets. I've never seen a restaurant with carpet and a dirty one at that. It says it was open from 1999 and I get carpet is original Well we had spaghetti - very poor version. It was overcooked and sauce looked like canned puree. We asked for olives and peppers. After years of enjoying this restaurant when we go to the coast, it is with sadness that we will be going elsewhere in the future. The worst part was the service. My husband and I arrived at 4:40 PM for an early dinner. Not only were we the first customers for the evening, it turned out that we would the ONLY customers that evening. We ordered right away as we knew what we wanted and received our bruschetta appetizer and glass of wine fairly quickly. But after that, we never saw the server or anyone again until our lasagna dinners were served at about 5:40 PM. It would've been nice to request a second glass of wine, or to let her know the bruschetta didn't taste right, but she never checked on us to see how we were doing. Once she arrived with the dinners, we expressed our disappointment. There were no apologies. We noticed right away the lasagna appeared different than when we ordered in prior years, and it tasted a bit different. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the dish we remembered so fondly and were looking forward to. We left the restaurant shortly after 6 PM, and walked over to the Linns s gift shop to look around. We noticed that Linns restaurant was quite busy. We walked back to our car which was parked in front of Lombardi's and noted there were still no customers at all in the restaurant. We came as two families - for that I gave the restaurant the stars for being family friendly. However, for all else I would give 1 star. Before I write more, I will share this feedback was also shared with the restaurant directly. The door remained open and flies were inside landing on food and us. We ordered a variety of different dishes - pizza and pastas and all were incredibly mediocre at best. The kicker, however, is the servers checked in on us twice and - while disclosed on the menu (our fault for not noticing before as we would have not sat down to eat) was the 20% tip automatically added to the bill for parties of 6 or more. Pretty much the worst food on the planet. The $10 salad was very small and completely uneventful. The balsamic vinegar tasted like gasoline. The hard pizza crust was clearly frozen, but even if you choose to use a frozen crust there are much better options out there today, and besides, an Italian restaurant shouldn't use a frozen crust anyway. Pricing is incommensurate with the bare minimum quality food. Makes you miss Chucky Cheese. Staff have clearly leaned not to check on you and ask what you think, because they do not want to know. Don't walk away from this place, run! The empty restaurant at 5:00PM should have been our warning. At least now you know. It may be too late for us...save yourself! read more

TL;DR - Ambiance? Kinda cute. Service? Excellent. Salad? Pretty good. Pizza? Forget it. Lombardi's certainly looks the part. Everything screams homey, comfort, deliciousness. Unfortunately, the pizza Margherita was not up to the task, and it's all down to the crust, literally. The crust was thin (as a good PM should be), but it had almost no flavor of it's own, and also had no char. It was not underbaked, and yet at the same time probably could have been left in the oven for a little longer for the magic that is the Maillard Reaction to happen. It tasted like an anonymous flatbread rather than a pizza crust. If we ever go back to Lombardi's, it won't be for the pizza. read more

In a word: Abysmal. Against my better judgment, I ignored the glaring red flag of a nearly empty dining room and ventured inside. I started with an $8 small side salad featuring their "homemade" creamy Italian dressing. What arrived was a tragic collection of about seven leaves--most of them aggressively brown--smothered in a dressing that more closely resembled spackling paste. I sent it back, asking if they could remove the dying foliage and perhaps add a bit more volume. The waitress returned and actually asked, "You wanted the small salad, right?"--a charming way of implying I was just being cheap. The replacement wasn't any larger, though the greens were at least among the living. Next up: the eggplant parm sandwich. Truly a marvel of culinary disappointment. The sauce was inexplicably grainy and completely devoid of flavor, while the eggplant itself was a tiny, mushy afterthought. Knowing it was likely a lost cause, I ordered a side of meatballs purely out of morbid curiosity. Meatballs are arguably the easiest thing in an Italian kitchen to make, yet these were spectacularly bad. They were tough, studded with mystery white chunks (un-minced garlic, perhaps?), and drowning in a sauce I can only describe as "brassy"--that distinct, metallic tang of tomatoes reacting poorly to a cheap cooking pot. Stopped in, we had seen this place many times. This was our 1st visit and I must say, it seems like a small simple place but the food was fresh and tasty. The bread on the sandwhich was crispy but soft. It was full of flavor. The spaghetti with meat sauce was a nice portion and was very good. I do recommend this place everything is clean and tables are cleaned quickly. If I could leave a review with a zero then that's what I would do. We have been going here for years And have been happy with it. this is a family owned business and the good chef has had health problems And not there any longer. i believe the family has been trying to keep it going. They are not succeeding. We have been going to show our support and food has been edible BUT today, I have never had such disappointment in food like this Before. My thin crust for my pizza was a premade tortilla/cracker type thing. There was no flavor in the sauce, oh it was awful! My sister ordered Lasagna. There was a thick about 1/2 inch. patty like thing of ricotta cheese that was cold. The sauce was deep red and old. It was disgusting. The waitress had good intentions but she is very young and doesn't know what she is doing. Pretty standard classic style Italian food! I always enjoy my meals here and the service is great! There's an older woman who is just an absolute gem, she works only a few days a week, and it's always a pleasure to see her! It's a smaller but cute hole in the wall type place on one of the side streets off Main and totally worth it! My only qualm is their chicken breast in some dishes doesn't seem to be seasoned so it's lacking a little flavor but the sauces they put over it make up for that because they're delish! Our server was great. She was super sweet and attentive. The reason I gave this place a 1 star is because of the food. My family and I had lunch here and all ordered different things - eggplant parmigiana. Pesto pasta, mushroom and garlic pasta, and aglio olio pasta. Each dish was a disappointment especially for the price all being over $15. The eggplant parmigiana was very salty and eggplant was thick and soggy. The garlic and olive oil pasta was spicy because of the raw garlic and there were lots of it on top. The pesto pasta for some reason was sour. The mushroom and garlic pasta didn't have taste. The ambiance was very quiet, came in at 12/1pm for lunch on a Sunday for reference. I'd hate to say it but for $90 this was a disappointment and would have rather gone to olive garden. I hope this place does better because I would love to come back but I can't justify spending this amount for the taste and quality of the food. read more

We also ordered a $20 pasta with marinara, the sauce was so unpleasant. Very low to no quality on the tomatoes. The $20 vegetarian antipasto had only canned beets, canned artichoke and canned roasted red peppers. No fresh vegetables. No cucumbers or green peppers or spinach or carrots or any basic fresh vegetables that youd rightfully assume a restaurant serving pizza and salads would have. No olives? Every single corner is being cut. After tip the bill was $72 and far lower quality than an olive garden. Locals do not eat at Lombardi's, they only serve to rip off the tourist demographic. The restaurant we wanted to go to had an hour long wait, so we came here, which was no wait. But it still took us an hour to get our food. It was sooooo slow, and my kids were starving. Not sure why since there were only a couple other customers. That being said, my kids were super happy with their food when it came. They definitely don't skimp on the cheese for their pizzas and dishes. I ordered the seafood ravioli. Not exciting, but family-friendly options. My kids ordered some of the 10" pizzas. Hi, I stopped at Lombardi's after going to Hearst Castle. I ordered the eggplant Parmasean which came with rigatoni pasta and garlic bread. The eggplant was well cooked, the tomatoes tasted fresh and the cheese was nice and gooey. Found this quaint little Italian restaurant while researching for somewhere affordable to eat before heading to the Christmas market. Had a couple people outside the restaurant highly recommend the food so that was comforting before walking in. First impression of the inside was that the decor was very outdated, but it also had a cozy feel to it. My parents and I decided to try the baked sandwiches which was a pleasant surprise. I went for the hot vegetarian submarine and the artichoke and peppers were a real standout. I very much enjoyed it. It came with a small bag of chips and a banana pepper on the side. I washed it down with a coke, but be aware that you only get 1 free refill (or so the menu says). My parents had the Renee's special and chicken pesto. They said the Renee's special was also a standout that they enjoyed. My gf ordered the chicken parmigiana and said was alright because something in the ingredients had the taste of freezer burn. They also brought a basket of toasted bread that didn't have any seasoning on it. All in all it was a fairly quiet atmosphere with decent baked sandwiches. We ordered an Italian salad and I went to use the BR. It was absolutely disgusting, with the worst attribute being the urinal full of dark yellow pee with an out of order sign on it. The iced tea I ordered was cloudy, opted not to even drink it. The salad was okay. The waitress suggested we could share the salad which saved us over $10. My wife and I decided to stop in Lombardi's for a late dinner, around 8pm. The place was about half full. I ordered their super combination of meat sauce, sausage and meatball over rigatoni. My wife ordered mushroom, garlic and oil over penne pasta. We were both satisfied with the portion size and the flavor of our meals. The garlic bread was perfectly toasted and flavorful. The meatball and sausage were tasty and the meat sauce was tangy and pleasing. My wife said her mushrooms were fresh and plentiful. The service is very good and the atmosphere quaint. This is a family run restaurant that has been here for years and we remembered dining here in the past. We will be back to try other dishes. read more

To be honest I blame myself for this one. I should of listened to the reviews. I got two large subs to go along with two pastas and whatever spread they put on the sub (I wanted just mustard and Mayo) but they put this putrid smelling spread all over it that kind of has a fish taste? I had to throw both away and the pastas. They also have a sign on the door saying their card machine is slow and takes 3-5 minutes. it took 15 minutes. The staff was incredibly friendly but the food, just no. I even hate writing this review but I've never had inedible food like this before. I had no idea you could mess up subs. We wouldn't go back, and feel it was a waste of a vacation dinner experience. The ambience matches the food; humdrum, and seemed over priced as a result. We ordered pasta with pesto sauce, the pasta was overcooked. Also ordered cheese bread and cheese pizza. Big mistake! Our 15 year old grandson wouldn't eat either one. One of my most memorable places in Cambriai always have to go to when I'm in town . I've been going there since the 90's and loved every moment of every meal. I always order the the spaghetti with meat salude and sausage . The sauce is to live for,the flavour ,the taste is sensational and really makes you appreciate the moment your in love after tasting food you'll remember forever.. I also have some garlic bread on side and a glass of red wine to complete it preferably chanti or Merlot My happiest time is when I'm there eating and enjoy the experience . . The service is great ,the people are so friendly and the atmosphere is like being at your grand mothers house so warm and special. I highly recommend this icon Italian restaurant. read more
