I am a 22 year old who was so so scared going into the abortion procedure. For the last 2 weeks I feel like I had been fighting for my life with the mental battle of all of this. I had originally booked at another place, went in and was super sketched out and left. I did my research and found this place, which has nothing but good things said about them. I booked my appointment 2 weeks out because I had to be 7 weeks. Those 2 weeks leading to this was hard and my anxiety grew stronger everyday from the fear of this procedure. I am writing this review to help someone else who is in the same boat as me. When I got to camelback family planning it was very welcoming and nice staff. I took a zofran to help with nausea, right when I got there today they got me right in, my appointment was at 9:45 and I was out at 11. did the ultrasound, talked it over with the doctor (who was INCREDIBLY sweet) a stylish blonde fabulous older lady, who I expressed I was very nervous. She helped me along the entire thing and made me feel so unbelievably comfortable. The nurse in the room with me as well was fabulous. It was much more relieving then I expected. Mid convo in the procedure room I went out from the IV and then felt like one minute later I was in the recovery room, where a very sweet nurse also took care of me. I remember absolutely nothing until I woke up 30 minutes in the recovery room. If you are scared you will remember anything during the procedure don't worry you won't remember a thing. I was very worried about that. I am now home and feel so much better. I have light bleeding and cramps and I am so glad I went with the procedure over the pill, which I had originally planned on doing the pill but was talked out of it by friends saying this is the way to go. I wouldn't have done it any other way. This place is incredible and they really treat you like one of their own. If you are hesitant on doing this let me be your say on go here! I couldn't recommend more and will be recommending it to anyone I know in the future. I went in for a surgical abortion, at first they couldn't see anything, warned me of an ectopic pregnancy. I went in again and they could see an egg sack, they performed the procedure and I went home. I then began to feel very sick a few days later and had the worst pain in my life, I call the nurse line and they tell me not to go to the emergency room and it's probably just something to do with my bowels. I go to the emergency room and I have free standing fluid in my abdomen, my hcg levels were through the roof and there's still a fetus without a heart beat. Three weeks after my procedure I got a negative test and I FINALLY feel like I have my life back! I got an early surgical abortion at about six weeks and had a fantastic experience with Dr. G. She was very kind, calm, eased my nerves, and answered all of my questions (amidst my tears.... lol). I was SO nervous, but, in the end, had NOTHING AT ALL to be scared about. This was my first abortion and, to be honest, I feel like the stigma surrounding the procedure is what scares women and guilts them into thinking it's a wrong or "immoral" choice. It's a simple, safe, and easy procedure.... Dr. G kindly reminded me that I had a greater risk of dying from A. driving to the clinic and B. going through with the pregnancy full term. I had no negative after effects from the procedure and look forward to having children when I am truly ready. The stigma and fear, I believe, comes from the pro life, "forced birthers", that can't think critically enough to realize that pregnancy may not be the right choice for a woman, the right time for a woman, might be forced upon her through rape, birth control failure, and/or might put the woman's life at risk. In the end, the choice is and should always be hers. I have always been very pro-choice, but actually going through the experience myself reinforced my view point. It was not an easy choice... I did feel a lot of sadness, as it was very much not a good time for me to go through with a pregnancy, but I never felt an ounce of regret. The doctors and nurses that work here are HEROS. I chose the surgical route and was knocked out cold. It was like a quick, painless nap... I woke up and it was over with no recollection of the procedure. Due to AZ's restrictive abortion laws (YUCK....) you do have to get up early and stand in line for the initial consultation and ultrasound, which can be inconvenient. After that, I was able to get in very quickly. I bled lightly for two days... I had some sharp uterus cramping, which is to be expected and is normal. Thank you to everyone who works here. I can't imagine working in such a stigmatized (and ESSENTIAL) profession. You are all truly heroes and do change women's lives every day. Thank you... thank you... thank you for what you do. Do NOT come here. They say the first appointment is free, charge $600+ for the pill, and if you back out or cancel your appointment, they still charge you $100, even before the 24 hour limit. They NEVER mentioned that to me, not even on the info paper they gave me. I told them it's whatever but I mentioned they should actually bring that up to people, especially when they're scheduling an appointment. the lady snapped at me and said it's on their website with a cringy, nasty attitude. The nurses are condescending and rude, the dummies at the front are extremely unprofessional. This clinic is so disgusting for how they treat women who don't have many options for these situations. I know when I seen I was pregnant I wanted it done ASAP but don't go to just any clinic. Wait in line and secure yourself and your future health with Camelback Family Planning. I would 100% recommend this place. I absolutely had the best service and felt comfortable with the nurses and doctors. I lined up on a Wednesday at 6am and was the sixth person in line. One girl was in line since 3:30am, so when you go for a consultation/consent please go early. You receive a morning card, think the first 10-15girls get them. After they hand out the afternoon cards. You fill out a form then pee in the bathroom and go to your car to wait to be called to meet the nurse. They take an ultrasound, ask some questions, talk about birth control. After that it's as simple as making an appointment. I went for the surgical procedure literally scheduled the next day after consultation. First thing I did was put my things in a locker and walk to the back with the doctor. I took two pills and talked to the doctor as they went over a few things. Next thing I know I'm waking up with a heating pad on super dizzy looking at an ultrasound showing I am completely cleaned out. I have some spotting but absolutely no pain whatsoever during recovery. It was a huge relief and my stomach finally stopped aching, my term was 6-7weeks of age if curious. So if you want to have the most comforting atmosphere for an abortion I recommend this place. I know no one want to get an abortion or be there but they do they best service they can. My doctor suggested this clinic to me instead of planned parenthood. I'm very happy I listened. All the staff was incredibly nice and informative, including the doctor. Yes wait times can be long but it is worth it because of the care they provide. The woman at the front desk was very sweet even when there was a girl in front of me who was speaking very rudely to her she remained calm and was still nice to her. I can see at a clinic that provides abortions how the environment could turn sour easily because everyone coming in is stressed and scared to some degree, a little bit of negativity or one negative staff member could ruin it all. So I can't say enough how much I appreciated the environment they created here and I truly believe that because of it they are preventing women from having traumatic experiences. I knew I was in good hands and was calm the day of my procedure because I knew that. Also appreciate that they fully sedate you, I talked to other women who got surgical abortions from planned parenthood or elsewhere and they said they were sedated with something but were partially aware and that was somewhat traumatic for them. One girl told me to try not to listen to what they're saying during the procedure so obviously she was not completely out. That was not the case here I was completely out and woke up in the recovery room. Recovery was easy and I was able to work the next day. I arrived at 4am on a Monday because they don't schedule appointments for the consultation. Me and one other girl waited until other people started to show up after 6am. You can use the QR code to scan and put yourself in line starting at 7am. My one suggestion to the staff was to only put out one QR code instead of multiple around the building so that those at the front of the line could scan first. Because at 7am unfortunately almost all 10 people could scan right away even though me and one other girl had been waiting for hours before them. Neither one of us was first in line but we were both scheduling our procedure and leaving the clinic by 11am. I was able to schedule the very next day if I wanted. Amazing in case you're wondering for the steps , you'll call right when they open at 8am and they will schedule you for a consultation the next day then they'll schedule you for the termination either the next or anytime during the week you want, then you'll pay the day of your termination (I believe they also do walk ins but it does take longer because they squeeze you in between people who have appts), it was the best experience I had they were super sweet and they saw I was nervous and they helped me and reassured me I forgot her name but she was the sweetest, all of them are sweet and professiona,l I definitely recommend they made me feel comfortable every second I was there after the termination they even asked if I wanted a snack and they put me on a chair with a heating pad a while before my ride got there , BEST EXPERIENCE EVER I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND INCREDIBLY COMFORTABLE and it's definitely improved since 2 years ago , oh they also offer financial aid ! I can't recommend this place enough. The staff is incredibly supportive and efficient. The wait time for the consultation visit can be long but it's worth not having to wait weeks for the procedure like every other clinic in az right now. I was able to get an appointment within the same week as my consultation. I chose the surgical abortion and didnt have any pain or discomfort. All I remember is having an IV placed and then being walked to the comfort room. After, I had some minor cramping and bleeding so it was like having a light period. I also had an IUD placed, which the clinic was able to provide to me through a program for those who are low income. I received financial support to reduce the cost of the abortion itself as well. Thank you! And especially thank you to my nurse Katie, who was so kind, supportive, and informative. I came back recently for an IUD check and although I unfortunately don't remember their names, I really appreciate my doctor and nurse for taking me and my concerns seriously! I was forced to go here as the other clinic is no longer open for unknown reasons. They only do walk in for first time consult. They are closed for lunch between 11-1. Due to covid you have to wait up to five hours. And they failed to confirm my insurance so I was unable to get my birth control injection the day of my procedure forcing me to have to return yet again for another appt. day of scheduled procedure you still have to wait! I waited for four hours. I get that they can't help the case volume due to covid so I understand . But they should really figure out how to reserve appts on a day that walk ins aren't being done. Anyway. The front desk staff was very nice. Even tho they are not double checking your chart or asking you if there's anything else they can't help you with. . And dr goodrick was compassionate at consult. I didn't interact with her on procedure day which was concerning. My procedure nurse was nice. And lightened the mood when she was getting me set up. Recovery was maybe a little less enjoyable. I wasn't asked much about how I felt or anything. So maybe they can work on communicating more with that. I advise you speak up about how you're feeling so they can interact with you more appropriately. I hope you have a decent experience. Voice your concerns. Don't rely on them to remember anything. You need to be responsible for yourself and speak up. Bring something to entertain yourself while waiting. Make sure your phone is charged. BRING YOUR INSURANCE CARD. I recieved a surgical abortion here at 12 weeks and could not be more grateful and pleased by the quality of care, cleanliness of the facility, kindness from staff, clear aftercare directions, and even getting a prescription for the pill at my consultation. This place is the best of the best. Limited protesters, comfortable office, and most importantly quality healthcare. While the state of Arizona does not allow you to use insurance for this procedure they offer financial aid and if you don't qualify with them they give you other resources. They got me in for my consultation at 8:50 and my appointment was set for 9, they are extremely efficient. First they go over your health status, then they describe the procedure and any risks involved. After that they verify that you are there by your own free will and ask if you'd like to be prescribed birth control after. Once my consultation ended I booked my appointment for 3 days later and was escorted out by womens health advocacy volunteers. Three days later i returned for my procedure, we signed in and they took payment. Shortly after that i was given antibiotics to prevent infection and then pills to help soften the uterus. While the pills dissolved in my mouth for two hours i was brought to a comfortable room where i could relax, play on my phone, or take a nap. I elected to take a nap to make the time go by quicker. Finally they escorted me to the room where the procedure would be done in was given privacy to undress and a blanket to cover myself with, they then inserted the IV and gave me anesthesia. When i woke up the procedure was over and they escorted me to my vehicle. I was pretty tired when i arrived home but in very little pain, for me the next day and a half felt like you're average period. I am nearing the end of my second day post procedure and feel just fine and have limited pain/bleeding. I could not recommend this place more, they are fierce advocates for womens rights and i'm so grateful for their kindness and gentleness while helping me through this delicate matter. Just be prepared to wait, we were ! Got here at 450, 7th in line, & got done around 145. ( just more time based info for some people) But The lady at the desk wouldn't even let people waiting use the restroom. You would think after sitting outside for 6 hours I could use the bathroom since I was told not to leave. Guess not. Another concern I have is that I don't know if the ladies working here know or not but not a lot of people do this regularly so I think they should be more helpful then rude when the patient/people are asking questions. These girls need to feel comfortable not judged, it's already a rough spot. Trust me I know with the pandemic stuff is rough, it can be an excuse for a lot besides being rude when simply being asked a question. Other then that this place is a blessing! read more

Everything went great until after my procedure when they put you in a recovery room, with a woman taking phone calls and other nurses in and out talking about whatever amongst each other, so how can they expect you to rest when A. It's too loud to be comfortable, and B. within 15 minutes they're already expecting you to have your ride and to leave. I told them multiple times I was not ready to leave and that I'm feeling rushed and just wanted to rest a bit longer. They finally left me alone in the room to recover, to then overhear the nurses talking shit about me and the fact that I wanted extra time. So incredibly unprofessional and made me cry. Now I was rushed into my Uber and feeling more nauseous than when I left. read more

Absolutely worst health service I have ever received. The front desk lady Destiny, messed up my appointment, and falsely told me I was okay to come in the building after calling the front desk. Once I came in, I was told in a very cold manner that I would have to wait for a call and text, after being told I was okay to come in. I returned inside the building after I got the text, and was then told by the you lady, Destiny, that my attitude was disrespectful and was intolerable. I was informed there was a 3 strike policy and that I was on my first strike. Later the situation escalated, the manager and Destiny both sided with one another and ended up refusing service to me. They exaggerated my actions to the Doctor in order to keep service from me and my child. They refused to check on my baby to see if everything was healthy. These employees do NOT care about their patients and have no respect for any woman that enters through those doors. The manager played victim and not one apology or comforting action was displayed. The absolute worst health care facility in the U.S. I encourage no young female to go to family planning camelback. You can find a much more caring, supportive health facility for you and your child. I hope corporate sees this and reviews with these employees. read more

U won't find a more compassion8 professional 4 ur female annual checkups, testing, delic8 procedures, family planning (or lack there~of if ur on/needing birth control). She's very understanding, non~judgmental, goes over all options/risks 2 assist u making an informed decision & possesses a rarely found bed~side manner 2 put u @ ease. My family member is a high~risk pregnancy expecting twins w/ a lot of complic8ed factors that require significant monitoring, but she couldn't b in better hands 4 her expected new additions!! So 4 any females seeking a good 'gyno',~ (I know, sensitive/uncomfortable subject) she's ur woman! It's evident she truly cares about her p8ients, making it as comfortable as it gets 4 paps, stirrups & these kind of visits 4 check~ups & women's healthcare needs... u won't b sorry being in her very capable hands! read more

Dr. Goodrick was a decent enough provider even though I never actually saw her when I came in for my Depo shots- just her staff, who were generally wonderful. You do feel a little like a number at the DMV when they are behind the glass while you check in and then wait to be called. But my main issue is the professionalism, which I expect to be high from a doctor's office. Dr. Goodrick's office first lost or misplaced or SOMETHING my paperwork for my Depo shot in August 2017, which I had been going to her clinic for for the last 2 years, so my shot this past November was late because they did not send out their usual reminders and I had to call and ask for an appointment when I remembered. I got lucky that I wasn't pregnant and got my next shot in time. Then two months later, in January of this year, Dr. Goodrick kicked me out of her practice because one of her office staff has a personal problem with me outside of the professional setting. This personal problem was present the previous November, when I had received care with no issue. I leave my personal issues at home when I go to work. I am sorry that Dr. Goodrick and her staff can not do the same. read more

Finding a clinic right now has been really tough because they're all booked. When I called and asked for a consult they told me all the details right away, when the line outside begins (4am), how many people they take a day (20-22), and what to expect. Extremely kind and helpful staff made me feel safe during this time. I came on a Tuesday morning at 4:15 I was about 6th in line and got checked in by 8:45. They called me back around 11:30 and booked my appointment for the same week. They were really careful and reassuring, I felt in good hands. I came here because of all the good reviews I read but after having my own experience I would never recommend this place to someone again. When I came in for my initial evaluation everything was fine and I scheduled again a week later to get the pills and end my pregnancy, when I came in for that appointment I was told I can follow up with my provider after everything if I would like to make sure everything is okay. While at this appointment I hear the nurses talking in the hall about how they had to explain to some woman not to use her " dirty and not cleaned properly " toys inside her because of risk of infection and proceeded to talk about what toys they use and how to clean them properly. I chose to ignore it and move on because its whatever. Then a week ago I called because I had stopped bleeding for a week and then started again almost as heavy as the first day of the whole process. But it had been a month and I took my follow up test and it was positive. When I called they told me to take a test in a week and call again if it was positive, I had an upcoming doctors appointment so I brought it up there my doctor told me to get an ultrasound done and see if I have any remaining tissue, when I got my ultrasound done there was tissue remaining so I called Camelback Family Planning and got in next day. When I got there my nurse was EXTREMELY rude and condescending. She asked me why I came in and when I told her I came in because my OB saw remaining tissue she asked my why I would go to my OB and when I told her that my doctor recommended it she said I never should have gone to my doctor I should always call them, I told her I was advised I could follow up with my provider. She told me that was wrong and I never should have been told that. She then continued to tell me how my OB was probably wrong because most are and they have no idea what they are talking about and don't know anything about their process. She did my ultrasound and told me she saw nothing ( I was just told the day before my OB sees tissue ). She said my pregnancy test was negative which means everything worked. She said they do not intervene unless someone is bleeding through 4 pads or tampons in one hour, bleeding so much the look physically ill, and are hunching over in pain. So basically they want you to be extremely sick and in pain to help you. She said by initially looking at me I look fine and have nothing to worry about and sent me on my way. I immediately followed up with my OB to get advice on how to proceed because I do not trust the medical advice I was given and she informed me there should never be any tissue left because it puts you at risk for an infection, I do not want to get to that point so I will be proceeding with my OB. This place is extremely unprofessional and I feel bad for anyone who comes here and is scared and worried about their health. read more

I cannot stress enough how amazing this place has been to me- I made a lot of hard decisions lately and the doctors and nurses made me feel at peace, and assured me that this was my choice. Ashleigh, one of the nurses, was overqualified, completely sweet, and overall a super wonderful person. As a nursing student, I admire her knowledge (and especially the way she worked the IV like magic with minimal pain, knew the equipment like the back of her hand, and her explanations of birth control options and procedures were extremely helpful)!!! I remember being out of it and asking how long she'd been nursing, and although I can't remember, I will always remember her expertise, humor, and personality. The doctor was a complete expert too, as I underwent a quick procedure and was sent me home with helpful pamphlets that put my mind at ease. Entire staff is so rude, unprofessional, disorganized, and negligent. Dr kept calling me by the wrong name even after I politely corrected her. She spent the whole time going on and on about all this bs of how much she was there for me but couldn't even be bothered to get my name right.. Clinic is also full of nurses who act like they have all the time in the world to gossip and chit chat with each other but that r so lazy and forgetful. No one ever called me back as promised after I paid $$$$. If this is the only clinic you can get an appointment at and u have the money just be in line 30 minutes to an hour before 7am and get it done, but beware don't expect them to actually care unless you are dying at their hands read more

This place is a fucking joke. I went here to get the pill to end my pregnancy. They gave me 10 Norco to help. They told me I could take 2. So I did because the pain is unbearable. I'm a red head..red heads experience pain a lot dofferently then other people. I called and said I was running out of the Norco could I have a few more. They told me to use ibprofin. I cannot take ibprofin. I have kidney disease and other side effects I can't take it. They were extremely ride over the phone and said I can't get anymore. I said then why tell me I could take 2 when I couldn't. I'm really angry and in a lot of pain. I'll be buying pills off the street cause these fucking assholes don't care about their patients. read more

Here's my experience with camelback family planning. I found out I was pregnant on December 24. It was an unplanned pregnancy. Unfortunately, I was never a sexual person and I was basically raped by someone I knew....I was so devastated to learn my life and goals was taken from me. I became depressed and would cry everyday. Make long story short since that day I tried finding an abortion clinic. My friend told me about PP (planned Parenthood). I called them but they were booked and gave me an appointment until January 19, but reading their reviews it was likely to be canceled due to the physician always calling out. So I panicked and cried some more. I was desperate to get the abortion done before my fetus would grow some more...I tried calling basically all the abortion clinic available in AZ and literally they were all booked! I was feeling weary, scared and stuck with a pregnancy I didn't ask for. Then I read about Camelback Family Planning and their walk-in consultation. On January 4 I decided to head there super early before 8 am (the time they would open) hoping I would be first there. I got there and at first I felt overwhelmed because they had a long line already waiting outside. We waited until 8 am unfortunately half of us were turned away but were given the opportunity to come back at 1 pm and they wrote our name on their clipboard. I decided to wait it out and I am glad I did! I came back at 1 pm and yes the wait is a bit long but I promise you it is worth the wait. When i was called for my consultation everyone was so kind, understanding I felt so emotional because I didn't have anyone to understand me. I was able to get my blood test, urine test and ultrasound (which was uncomfortable to me but didn't hurt). The nurse who talked to me and Dr. G were even kind enough to give me a card to reach out as a sexual abused victim. I felt so safe with them. Luckily I got my procedure appointment 3 days after my consultation! The day of my procedure came and believe me I am a HUGE scaredy-cat. Read a lot of scary stories about surgical abortions experience online and I was seriously traumatized. Cried before my procedure as well. When I got there i waited for about an hour before heading in. The doctor/nurse who called me in explained to me the procedure. I felt so scared and overwhelmed but she assured me I wouldn't feel a thing. And she was right! I remember her putting my IV in and i was staring at the ceiling at this ballerina doll hanging there and like i think i was staring at it for 3 seconds and I was out. I woke up in the recovery room. I was so surprised I was out like a lightbulb and felt so relieved that those reddit stories didn't happen to me. The nurse was so nice to me and checked on me. I was lucky to go home and not have bleed anything and no serious cramping like i read online. Although I am a bit sad about my fetus being gone. I know I made a good choice.Anyways, I highly recommend Camelback Family Planning. I seriously promise you that you are in great hands! also don't read those reddit stories! First appointment I was nervous like I'm sure any other woman would be. The nurse I saw (Rose) was not the most pleasant. Expected me to know the difference between the pill and the procedure. Pricked my finger without telling. Just seemed like she didn't care about being at work. I had an ultrasound and she said "there's nothing there you can sit up" hands me the picture and tells me to sit up again. She comes back and explains what could be happening and my options and says "so what do you want to do" very bluntly and rude. The experience with her just seemed like I was another person in her assembly line and to be honest I was pretty mad. This is a very vulnerable and emotional time for women and it's not the place to have a bad attitude dealing with women that are going through an extremely hard situation. She never makes you feel rushed when you are in for an appointment, has excellent bedside, and is pretty accommodating. Personally, I think I can border on asking a lot of questions sometimes and being rather wordy and she never has seemed annoyed about it like other doctors tend to be. I've personally have known Doctor Gabrielle Goodrick for well over 20 years as she was my families Primary care physician. Goodrick is one of the kindest and most compassionate physicians I know. She cared for my children as they grew into teens and provided them with the same gentleness and caring attitude. My daughters to this day remember her. I would highly recommend Dr. Goodrick to any female who is need of a gynecologist and want a doctor who is truly caring and comforting. read more

They were so friendly here, and it was very private and professional. I had a hard time with making such a decision but I had to... and they made me feel so comfortable with it. And I thank you guys so much. Just remember you have to bring your ID, and if someone goes with you they have to have it as well for security purposes. I would give this place 5 stars if it wasn't for this nurse that made me feel more like crap. I believe her name was Rose. I was already upset and sobbing and she did nothing but talk down to me and belittle me. I have never felt even more alone than in that moment. I feel as though she has been worn out by this place and she was getting tired of hearing the excuses everyone had about why they were here today. I know someone who has also come across this nurse and had the same experience. You would think all the employees would be more supportive and welcoming at a place where women have to make such a hard decision. Everyone else in the office was amazing. Dr. Goodrick if you're reading this, I would hate to see a practice get a bad name because of one employee. You do such wonderful work and one employee shouldn't ruin it for the rest of the office. If you plan on going to this office, request not to see Rose. She will make you feel even more like shit, than you already do. read more
