Ok so we went here with friends about a month ago. None of us have ever been here. The food is amazing. We have been here 4 times since and going today. So far we have had the scallops, perch, king castle burger and the steak sandwich. Everything has been amazing. Good Old Fashions per my husband. This was our 1st visit to Camelot. The perch was probably the best perch I have ever had! The atmosphere is a real local bar in Wisconsin for a Friday fish fry. I would advise on not ordering an old fashioned. It is very very cherry. Also be ready for a long wait time for food. Sit back and enjoy cocktails. We were there at 4:15 on Friday and it took about an hour for our food. It is definitely worth the exceptional fish. We will be returning for sure! read more

We had a bad perch lunch over a month ago, but decided to give Camelot a second chance. Went today, ordered the perch again. Still not good. The perch was very thin, over cooked and the skin was too tough to cut through with a knife. I don't know if it's the quality of the perch, or if it was overcooked or if it was over breaded. $50 for 2 meals, left feeling terrible. Never said a word, the waitress never asked how it was. Not her fault. We will not be returning. read more

The fish fry here is a great deal. They have a few different types of fish to choose from--perch, haddock, baby pike, or sun fish--and they give you plenty. My friends ordered the double combo plate with perch, haddock, shrimp, and scallops, and was a fair amount of food for two people. I tried the perch, pike, and shrimp and all were perfectly cooked, with an appropriate amount of breading. The food itself is pretty basic, even plain, but that doesn't mean it wasn't delicious. It's a good, classic no-frills fish fry. Everything, including the sides, was made just right. Camelot is seat-yourself. You can start at the bar (if you're 21+) and grab a table as they open, or just eat at the bar. There's also pool and darts to play while you wait. If you have a group bigger than 4 people, you'll need to push some tables together. This place is packed with regulars though, so expect to either arrive early/late, or split your group up. This isn't a quick service restaurant. Grab a drink and relax, and catch up with friends or family. We even saw a table playing cards while they waited for their food. For us, I believe we ordered around 6:30 and it took about half an hour for us to get our fish. The service was good, and the waiters handled the rush well and were quite friendly. In all I'll say come for the fish, but come back for the atmosphere. read more

Absolutely the best Old Fashions and Friday Fish Frys around hands down! It does get extremely busy on Friday nights, so you do have to plan accordingly but the wait is well worth it! You really can't get more Wisconsin than this place. I came here while in town on business (I'm from Madison) and was looking for something on Yelp that looked local and Sconnie. This place is fantastic! It's a Wednesday night at 6 pm and the place is fairly packed with people who are all clearly locals. I sit at the bar (complete with white Christmas lights because 'Sconsin) and ask the bartender what he recommends. He tells me the haddock, and that they go through about 200 pounds of it a week. I mean, most places don't do GREAT haddock anymore. OMG it was soooooo fantastic! Probably one of the best fish frys I have had in a bazillion years. The fish was perfect and huge portions (I couldn't eat it all). Perfectly done light crust and flaky on the inside. Decent coleslaw, super friendly service. Iwas here for Wednesday fish fry. I got the combo plate with 2 each: butterfly shrimp, haddock fillets, scallops, yellow perch and frog legs. All were breaded and deep fried and served with melted butter, cocktail sauce, and tarter sauce, plus your choice of fries or potato salad and cole slaw. I've been going here with my family for a few years for their Friday Fish Fry. I've not eaten here for other menu items, but I will tell you that the Fish Fry is great. Plenty of food - big servings. Choices of fish include haddock, walleye pike, perch, salmon, sunfish, frog legs, scallops, and shrimp. I may be missing one! Choice of potato and rye bread rounds out the meal. It's always busy, and that's how you know it's good. Go early or go late. Go for lunch, even better! There's a full bar with seating and you can eat at the bar if you don't want to wait for a table. Went Friday for fish fry, this place was packed! We grabbed a seat at the bar luckily because no tables were open. It was an hour wait for fishy fry but we figured it would be worth it. Everyone in the bar was super friendly including the staff. The bartender did a great job keeping up with how busy they are by making sure everyone had a drink while also keeping track of all the orders for people eating at the bar as well as taking food to go. We enjoyed a couple of drinks and hanging out in the bar/ restaurant. Typical Wisconsin place for fish fry. Huge bar, seat yourself, small cooking area of a flat top and fryers behind the bar. It was clear this is where the locals go to eat fish fry. We both got the perch which was great, huge serving too! The fish was fried perfectly and tasted great. The tartar sauce here was really good as well. I also loved the coleslaw! We both got fries but you can opt for potato salad too. I didn't even have room for fries and I had to take fish home, that's how much you get. You also get bread with the meal as well. So come hungry, they don't skimp on the portions. Incredible fish fry! I had deep fried perch and frog legs. Even the processed fries were done to perfection. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. The frog legs were HUGE and the "lunch plate" of perch was a generous sized serving. My wife had the haddock and potato salad and was quite pleased. A fun place to go with friends for some great fish on a Wednesday or Friday night. Don't be in a hurry, it's seat yourself...so if it's busy, head to the bar and enjoy some cheap drinks! No you don't get a baked potato but you do get your choice of some great fish! There tends to be an early crowd so if you're in a hurry, go there later! Extremely slow service. We arrived at 4:45 and were seated and ordered immediately. After 1 hour of waiting we asked our server about our order. We were told the order would be out in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later we were finally served. Other patrons near us also complained out their order. Granted this was a Friday night but, it was not terribly busy, hence us being seated immediately. At the very least the wait staff should have told us it would be a hour and one-half before we would be served. Had that been the case, we would of left (which is probably why nothing was said). My husband and I just went there tonight for the first time since we had heard many times how good the food is. We got there at 4:10 p.m. and ordered within 5 minutes of arrival. The waitress brought our beverages and his clam chowder that he had ordered. She had come back to pick up his empty bowl when he was finished. I realized it started to pick up about 20 minutes after we had gotten there but we had no wait and sat down. Anyway, we watched people come in, wait for a table, get seated and served. We waited and waited then waited some more. We did have an appointment to get to at 6 p.m. but thought that would be plenty of time to eat first. Needless to say, at 5:15 we got up from our table and asked for our bill. I might add, our waitress never once came back to our table to check on us or to make sure we had our food. The bill presented included our food that was never brought to the table. We explained to the man at the bar that it was our first visit and we hadn't received our food. We had money ready to pay for our beverages/soup. He said what had occurred wasn't right and said he'd take care of what we had eaten/drank. Unfortunately, we will not be returning..... was sad about that experience, especially being the first time there. read more

We had heard about this place from a friend and have been meaning to stop in for a while. The menu is short and simple, but what they make is pretty good. I got the badger burger (I was a little cautious of trying the angry one on my first visit) and it was pretty good. I got it with the sweet potato fries, which were a bit expensive, especially considering that they cost more than the truffle fries, but they were yummy. I like that they do something kinda different and serve it with a sweet cream cheese. My husband got the Guinness fish (I forget what kind) sandwich with the truffle fries and he was pretty happy with it. I thought it was pretty good to. Overall if you are specifically in the mood for a good burger this is a great place to go and is infinitely better that the mad hatter that used to be there. The staff was very friendly and spent some time talking to us when she had a chance. It's always nice to go to a place that makes you feel so welcome. This place is great, very unassuming in looks but makes up for it in quality of the food and the service. We went for a family members' birthday and Brian the owner, who waited on us personally, really hooked him up after he discovered their shared love of bbq. The birthday guy got a brisket sandwich and loved it, and he's eaten brisket in so many places he's an expert by now. Plus, he makes his own smoked brisket and after talking about it at length with Brian, he got to take a look at the smoker set-up out back and was duly impressed. The rest of us got various sandwiches, a reuben, a chopped steak sandwich and a quarter pound burger; it was all delicious. Also once Brian found out we were celebrating a birthday, he brought out a stuffed green pepper for the birthday guy, on the house, which was a super nice touch.
