He sent go around the back of the bar put a menus on the 2 seats next to you & you'll be good. DEF not the case when this elderly couple come in with an appearance of regulars (chatter boxes with the bartenders/staf) and just pick up our saved menus from the 2 seats directly next us & sat down. I immediately jumped up & said those 2 seats are saved for a couple that were literally right behind them. They were jabbering with the 2 bartenders and my military voice must have fell on def ears. THAT piss me off. Told me friends that the fish better be the best NE Wis has to offer or my wife & I will NEVER return to pour a beer on the fire ever to save the place from going down. How friggin rude for a Friday Night Fish Fry. So we 4 took a tall still table & waited to place our food order all the whilst pounding an Alaskan red & 3 old fashions. Now mind ya I'm older then these 2 geezers but they just thought those seats had their name on them for centuries. Hell the fish we get @ Lodge Kohler seafood butter had better flavor. Nothing a few grams of Malden sea salt of both straight and smoked could have cured. I went on a Friday around 4:15 and the restaurant was packed already! The Friday perch fish fry is delicious! The breading is light. The fish is flaky and not greasy at all. I ordered the double and I got a huge pile of fish! The baked potatoes are always good with a crispy skin, yum. I don't know how they make so much good food and move tables. The severs are busy! And friendly. I think the prices are reasonable. A server told us they have about 1,000 customers on a Friday night! Be prepared to wait a bit but order a tasty Old Fashioned. read more

Crowded, but staff was friendly, efficient, and cheerful. Came at 5:30, and I had to wait at the bar for about an hour. ( but the quality, service, and price, make it worth the wait) Bartenders were fast and friendly. Drinks were delicious. I had a whiskey old-fashioned sweet. That was one of the best I ever had. Waitress came to us in the bar to take our order. Then, she came back later when a table was open. Food was great. Chicken, baked potato, Cole slaw, and stuffing. The only thing that I did not like was the stuffing. It was ok, but was more of a paste like consistency than fluffy stuffing . It' never fails to have both good food and service. The waitstaff works as a team makes the dining experience flawless.

First off, the fried food is not too bad here, and the cheese curds are the best thing on the menu. BUT their owner might be one of the worst humans in the area. I am currently trying to eat cleaner and lower calories, so that means no fried food. I ordered their filet/tenderloin for this reason, and I ordered it medium rare. We get sat, our sides come out, everyone else's food comes out (group of 4, fried fish), and they tell me mine should be coming out shortly. 10 minutes later my steak comes out, and it's medium well. I ask for a new steak, since I ordered it medium rare, and they take it away. They bring me back the same steak 5 minutes later. The waitress said the cook cooked it more. I told them that it was already over cooked, and I wanted a new steak. They then brought out the same steak and said it was rare. I cut into it and it's basically a hockey puck. I then again tell them I wanted it medium rare. Then I wait 20 minutes for the steak to come out and it's medium on one side and well done on the other. I eat one bite and by this time I'm done. I'm with my family, so while I'm in the restroom my mother ends up getting the waitress to get the manager, who end up being the owner. The owner tells me "Well you got the steak." He basically said he lost 3 dollars on the meal and that it was our fault the food came out that way. We weren't looking for any free food, we were just looking a sorry, or maybe even a well cooked meal. He claimed "it usually takes 50 minutes to cook 2 steaks", keep in mind I'm a cook at home and grilling is my specialty, so obviously he doesn't know how to cook a steak, or have the intelligence to have good customer service. This man (the owner) was the cook. I think a monkey, or the cow where this beef came from, could have made me a better steak. This man is a horrible human who only cares about money and his fragile ego. This message is for the owner. Hopefully the 3 dollars you lost on the 2 hockey pucks you gave me doesn't put you into bankruptcy. You're a greedy, life sucking leach and your employees don't even like you. I went here with a friend on the recommendation from another friend. I wanted a good steak. We arrived at 530 PM. The place looked like a car lot. There were so many people there and they open at 400 PM and close at 800 pm. We entered read the sign which said take a number and a menu and we'll be with you as soon as we can. Since I had never been there I had to ask a nice gentleman just entering if it was worth the wait. He looked around the place and looked back at me and basically said all of these people are here for a good dinner and smiled and said yes it's really good. We took our menu and number and found a table in the bar area and about 20 minutes later a nice young lady came and took our order. About 10 minutes later a girl came and walked us to our table and immediately brought us our salad. As soon as I took the last bite of my salad a huge steak and all the fixings were brought to our table. The food was tasty the service was outstanding and the follow up to ensure everything was done to our satisfaction was prompt and polite. I was not feeling rushed but I did notice how quickly the servers turned the tables over. I received so much food that I did take a to go box home. Even though I was completely full I admired several other plates of food as looking very appetizing. This place is definitely on my favorites list. Oh one little reminder on the ambiance if you are from out of state as I am, don't go if you don't like the Green Bay Packers. If you're new to the Redwood here's how it works... when you enter you will be handed a number and menu from a silent hostess- That's not slang for anything, she really just looks at you saying nothing. Find a place to hover near the bar and wait for an opening. About 45 min.A woman will find you and your number and take your order - then more waiting. Now that you're 2 sheets to the wind cause I forgot to tell you to pace yourself, you'll be led to your table... This last part moves pretty quickly. You get your food within minutes of sitting down which is great cause you need something substantial following the liquid apps you enjoyed. So now you know whyou're getting into. I generally don't leave one star reviews and it's a rarity that I leave a restaurant without actually having the meal. The Redwood Inn bar staff managed to see us searching for the exit within a few minutes of our arrival. Here's what I can tell you about the Redwood Inn. They are cash or check only. There's an ATM on site with a $2 service charge. Cash only is a turnoff in the 21st century, but I can deal. The restaurant is in a dated rather bland building with an interior somewhat resembling a open banquet room facility. We arrived at 4:30 on a Friday and the place was already pretty busy. We did the bar check in to get our number to have a waitress come take our order. The older female bartender made no offer of information as to how long the wait would be. It looked like several orders were being prepared for carryout. I don't know if this is a standard for the Redwood or just something because of social distancing and Covid concerns. An older woman (60's+) wearing a facemask stood next to us to pick up her carryout order. She gathered her to go meal and left the bar area. As soon as she walked away the female bartender (50's+) exclaimed rather loudly to a Male bartender that she believed anyone wearing a facemask deserved a kick in the ass for doing so. Personally, I don't want to wear a facemask when I'm out and about. That's my choice and it's not for me to criticize someone else that chooses to wear one. I don't know why someone chooses to wear a mask and it's none of my business. I can appreciate there are many people that continue to have great concern about the Covid situation. I found it reprehensible that a bartender would be so rude towards a customers personal choice. You are operating a business and in the current climate should recognize people are more health conscious than ever before. What type of hygienic approach is Redwood Inn taking with their food preparation if the staff wants to kick someone in the ass just for taking priority in their personal safety. This is an old school super club with a limited menu. Arrive early and I mean like 4pm early. I once showed up at like 6pm and had to wait till 8pm to eat. You get your drink at the bar (strong old fashions here) and then you wait your turn to place your order with a waitress. This trip we waited about 20 minutes to do this and two rounds of drinks. Once your food is ready that is when you are seated. This took about 30 minutes since we showed up so early in the evening. I ordered the single perch plate with fries. If you look at my pictures you will see that a single is 6 filets of perch. Enough to feed an army after being paired with all those fries. The coleslaw is served to the entire table. I do like the cook on the perch and the fries were fine nothing special. I did not like the coleslaw it was runny and not seasoned at all. Service was not the best. The waitress taking our food order was not patient when one member of our party had questions on a menu item. I am pretty sure when one of the waitress's dropped food and my mother-in-law tried to help her she literally told her off in the worst tone ever. Having visited Wisconsin for practically every year of my life, I have yet to find anywhere that does fish fry as well (and as often) as Redwood. My family followed them from the tiny little bar to their beautiful new location and it's one of the "must go" places on my list when I visit. I love that you can get fish fry practically every night of the week, and the portions are generous. I always get the single perch with baked potato, which gives you three large perch fillets (butterflied, so really 6 fillets) and two baked potatoes. Always end up with a take home bag, and it's just as good the next day reheated. Their tartar sauce is so good I get a bag just to take some home, because store bought sauces just won't do. It's a great system they have. Go the bar for a drink, place your order, and when it's ready you can sit down and tuck right in. The service is great, everyone's friendly, and the decor is very Wisconsin - Packers stuff all over, but not cluttered. I've had the broasted chicken and the smelt before and they're all great, but I always get the perch because that's a fish we don't get down in Florida. But we had heard about the wait times and being our first time there, we thought we'd beat the crowd and get there before they open. Nope. Doesn't matter. They keep you at the bar and take your order from there. And it got crowded! Folks were standing waiting around the bar. As we stared at a large mostly empty dining area. When we first got there, there were two groups of older folks at tables. Already seated before opening, eating. So I dont know if they were owners, or just really VIPs. I've never been to a place like this. There must have been close to a hundred people in there before they started seating some of us. We got and the cauliflower appetizer, tenderloin and ribeye. It started with a meh salad and bread. Then the steaks came out. Ten minutes later the appetizer showed up. The dinner was decent. Tenderloin was way better than the ribeye. We had left overs and ended up recooking the ribeye to make it more tender. Dinner was followed by a grasshopper in a styrofoam cup which I really enjoyed. I only recommend this place for drinks. My family, and I have been regulars here for 40+ years, and the food, and table service has always been excellent. That being said ... the sooner the owner wises up and fires the unpleasant gossipy sow behind the bar, the better off they'll be. Arrived about 11:10, and sat at the bar while waiting for my parents to arrive at 11:30. Upon walking in, and sitting at the bar, it took the old sow quite a while to acknowledge me, and take my drink order. Why you ask ... she was too busy with a couple of others, gossiping, and backstabbing a "friend" of theirs who is currently hospitalized. But we got drinks ordered, found a table at the bar and had enough time to chat, people watch and order a second drink. At that point, our order was taken. My co-worker told me this is her 'spot' for fish. My wife and I decided to try it out at 6 pm'ish. True to others reviews it was packed. We lucked out and shared a table near the bar. The bar tenders were friendly and the beverages were cold. A lady came around and took our order while we waited for a table to open up. We went with walleye, perch, mushrooms, and cheese curds. I figured, hey, why not for the wait. As soon as we sat down at the dinner table the food started to roll out. The mushrooms were quite possibly the best I had. . . at least for a long while. On the table was a small bowl with a small ball of sour cream. For me, enough sour cream for one potato. There were three of us and we each had two potatoes. I asked for more and we each ended up with one small serving of sour cream. A side of cole slaw to share was also on the table . The food gets 4+ stars, the pre order drops it a star. I just don't like that and I would have enjoyed a pre dinner adult beverage. But the fish was really good and cooked just right. A few things to know , cash or check only. First and last time ordering from here. The owner posted a menu in the Brown County take out group that advertised lobster. Called to order and was told by a very sweet waitress they don't have lobster on Fridays. Even though it's on the menu the owner posted I said ok that's fine and ordered something else. I then replied to the owner's comment in the group with "Called to order lobster and was told it's not served on Fridays " I commented as a courtesy to others who may call to order it. My boyfriend went to pick up our food and was completely caught off guard when the owner chastised him because "his wife accused him of false advertising." That was not at all what I did nor was it my intention. I called to clear things up with the owner before leaving this review hoping it was all a big misunderstanding. I am in absolute shock over his reaction. Instead of apologizing and at the very least showing me an ounce of respect, he was extremely defensive, wouldn't let me talk, interrupted me, and argued. At one point I told him he didn't have to yell at me and he insisted he wasn't yelling, "that's just the way he talks." He argued that his waitress told him I said it was false advertisement and "misleading." That was not at all what I said but he wouldn't believe me. Instead he responded with, "You wanna talk to the waitress? She's right here!" I was literally in tears because of how rude and demeaning he was. He also forcefully insisted that I listen to him "explain what happened" - he had to "throw $600 worth of steaks away cause of the Coronavirus." I tried to explain that we tried to support him but he wouldn't back down. He never once apologized and insisted that he "did everything he could by giving me an extra piece of chicken that I didn't want. All I wanted is for us to be treated with respect. I apologized for any miscommunication and it's awful that he couldn't be bothered to do the same. Never in my life have I had a business owner speak to me in the manner that he did. My husband does not ever waste food. We took home lots of leftovers pretending to be full because a friend was picking up the tab.
