We have tried four times to patronize this business. Three times they were closed to the public, and once we stopped by around 5pm for dinner and while we got in, they were out of the two items we wanted. Tonight, when we came by, the owner happened to be walking by while we were noticeably disappointed, he called to us that he had a big catering job and couldn't be open. Perhaps they would benefit from having a catering arm of this business. Perhaps just focus on catering and don't try to be a restaurant that is open to the public. When friends have asked if there is BBQ in the area, we have told people to try in the past, but they have also found the establishment closed or out of food. The owner did not like our thoughts on the matter and screamed at us as we walked down the block to our car, yelling that we don't understand how he runs his business and that he will not lose sleep over us not coming back. We won't try again and certainly will not recommend. read more

We consider ourselves barbecue aficionados :-) we like to try different places around the country and travel quite a bit. We found this place and gave it a try. I've seen and heard positive things about this restaurant. Maybe, those things clouded my expectations. Not wanting to be the person adversely affecting their rating, I'm opting for 4 stars but reality says 3.5 stars. It is a nice little restaurant. The staff I interacted with were helpful and pleasant. The menu is pretty large and the prices were within reason for a BBQ place. My disappointment was not the size of the platter I ordered. It wasn't the ribs, they were tender and flavorful. It was the brisket and the beans. Beans tasted like Bush beans, which are good, but anyone with a can opener can prepare them. The brisket was chopped, not sliced. I honestly have made better flavored pulled beef in my crockpot. I think it would be appropriate to list on the menu that the brisket is chopped. I wanted to see a nice smoke ring and to get the flavor I had gotten from the ribs. My dining partner had a chicken sandwich. It was messy but had good flavor. Both meals, were packed nicely in to go containers for consumption at the taproom located next door. I'll give the place another shot; however, brisket and beans will not be part of our order. read more

Hands down, some of the best BBQ I've ever had! I ordered the ribs and brisket, and both were exceptional. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, with just the right amount of smoky flavor and a perfectly caramelized crust. The brisket was equally amazing--juicy, with a smoky depth that's hard to find. You could tell it had been cooked low and slow, as it melted in my mouth with every bite. The sides were just as impressive, and everything had that homemade touch that makes you feel like you're at a family BBQ. Average. Average. Average. The food is at best average, poorly served, some of it was hot,,,some of it was not hot. Doesn't taste like they have a real pit, seemed like flavored smoke or something going on with it., had butter cake and the pecan pie and they were ok. The service was fine. Moo & Oink nachos were delicious, 10/10! We got the Alamo hot sauce and it was spicyyyyy but delicious. The sauce is made with 3 different hot peppers; ghost pepper being one of them. Pickle chips were amazing as well, crunchy with a Cajun seasoning 9/10. We stopped tonight for first time. Based on reviews we expected great things. They had a sign letting us know they were training a crew in the kitchen. We were ok with that. The meal was ok but not spectacular as everyone else claims. Ordered the oink & moo sandwich, blazer sandwich, and fries. It didn't take too long to get the order. The fries were very good, lightly seasoned and hot. The sandwiches were room temp at best, far too Smokey for our taste, and a bit on the dry side. I was pretty sure I hadn't ordered burnt ends but who knows. I prefer my sandwiches hot, so when the server finally stopped to check if everything was ok, I told him the fries were good, the sandwiches were cold. I asked for a bag to go so I could heat them up to enjoy them. The server appeared appalled by my feedback. Apparently we are the only ones ever experiencing the situation? Maybe no one has ever been honest with them regarding the food. The restaurant does need to do a bit more training with the servers. No apology. No asking what they could do to make it right . I wasn't looking for a free meal just acknowledgement that they could improve. We paid our bill. We didn't offer a tip, which apparently was another offense. The food was fair, not a 10/10 as others stated. We've been to Texas many times, this ain't Texas y'all. ***** I need to follow up on yesterday's review to be fair. This place is excellent, I was able to sample 4 different smoked meats and they all were delicious. I went on a Friday for lunch and the place was consistently packed. The owner was extremely apologetic for the wait, which was no problem. she was very busy, and was still able to be kind, attentive, and happy. The family that runs the business seem like great people. My Husband raved about the cornbread, and the beans. I liked the mac and cheese. Neither of us are potato salad fans but their potato salad was good. I was not a huge fan of how the food was served, however this is an extremely busy mom and pop place, so paper and plastic probably work best for them. Eating meat out of foil is not really my jam, but the food is so good regardless. It was my friend's birthday they brought her a slice of desert, which was so lovely. I walked away from this place excited about going back soon!! If you love BBQ this hidden gem is a must!! read more

Wow, just wow. How did this happen in Kimberly! Absolutely amazing new BBQ restaurant in Kimberly. We ordered takeout, but they do have a cozy dining room. We ordered pulled pork, brisket, pulled chicken and Texas fries. All of the meats were amazing! The sides were just as wonderful. I am very picky about coleslaw, and theirs was fantastic! I think there was even a hint of cinnamon in the baked beans. Cornbread...yum! I am a huge fan of loaded fries. The Texas fries were phenomenal! Loaded high with creamy mac and cheese, brisket, fresh jalapeños, and bbq sauce. Even the elusive teenager came upstairs and grabbed a fork. And to top it off, real sweet tea. Not from a can, or regular tea that had sugar added, but real. If you have not had real sweet tea, you have to stop by. I feel this will be a destination. ( I wonder if I can buy it by the gallon?) I don't understand all the 5 star reviews. I was expecting the food to be so much better. Besides the mac and cheese and the BBQ pulled chicken, everything else had an odd taste to it. The pulled pork tasted like lighter fluid (or cleaner?) somehow. The sides portions were tiny, like 1/2 cup of each. The baked beans were very odd. They make them with cinnamon. Not good. Worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant! My wife and I visited the restaurant on Feb. 18th. I was excited because I grew up with BBQ. The place was quite busy. (A good sign) So, after sitting down, I raised my hand to get the waitresses attention. She said she would be there shortly. I thanked her and said I understood. All of a sudden, the Line Cook began yelling (screaming!) at me violently from the kitchen. Telling the waitress, she didn't have to take any shit from me. That they were not fast food. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This went one for quite a while as everyone stared at us. We changed our order to go. As we were leaving, I tried to engage the cook again. He immediately started to yell at me. We did nothing wrong. We were polite and friendly. We did not deserve this treatment. To make things worse, (how could you?) The cook muttered under his breath. (Loud enough for me to hear, of course) F****ING white people think they're so special. I do not accept the racism involved! This was a horrible experience. I will not go back, and I recommend people stay away unless you go in, sit on your hands, and wait for the king and master to grace you with his presence. When he's good and ready.
