I think a true review must include everything that they offer. I hate the fact that this spot doesn't take visa or debt! It is the year 2008 people. This is why this place can never get five stars. I had a half fish half chicken plate with chips. My girl friend had there combination plate, half fish and half calamari with chips. We also had there jalapeno poppers as a side order. The jalapeno peppers were OK and the chips need to be eaten quickly because they get a little soggy. The fish is really good but I think there calamari was better. The chicken wasn't grease even though it was deep fried. There tater sauce to be honest SUCKS! They don't refrigerate it or there ketchup. I luckily had some tater sauce of my own from the grocery store that tasted better. There interior makes you fell like you are in London. From the paintings to the England style phone booth painted on the bathroom door. They have some newspaper clips up that were written about there restaurant also. I read one of them and it was about how someone drove there car through there front door. The car made is half way through the dining area. Normally I'm not a big fish and chips fan but this place makes me a fan. The first time I ordered from here I got the scallops and chips, with malt vignegar and it was delicious! This last time, I got the shrimp and chips and they were also delicious! The prices are decent for what you get, good portions seafood and lots of fries. The food was fried to a perfect golden brown. We had the seafood and chicken which were all tasty and not oily or salty. They have affordable beer and wine. What makes this casual spot five stars is their staff! There was a young girl working the front and she deserves to be mentioned. She was super sweet and works really hard. They also have a nice selection of other fried seafood...all reasonably priced. Excellent place in an excellent location. You would almost believe you were in England with the fog and smell of cool salt air which is the perfect time to indulge here in some steamy hot fish and chips. Crunchy and perfect white fish but not greasy at all and the batter was spot on. Crab cakes are flavorful and clean of shells unlike some places around the bay that I have been. They have malt vinegar on the tables of course along with ketchup for you Americanizers. They have a lot of different seafood and appetizers so I could literally eat here every day of the week and have something different. Have a variety of English beers to go with it and you are all set to go. They do as others have said only accept cash and I understand why but who cares, there is an ATM right next door at the bank! Parking is not a problem either especially in the evenings but there is a huge lot across the street in case right in front street parking is full which it never has been since I have been going there. I've been going to Camelot since I was a little kid with my parents and the quality has always been very good. I like to get it to go because I'm more comfortable eating at home but my husband always wants to eat out. I'm just going to bring our usual orders home ( one fish & chips and I shrimp and chips) and keep it warm in the oven. I'm sure it will still be yummy! read more

Haven't tried this place in at least 15 years cause back then it was BAD. So figured as it had been around for so long perhaps it had improved. NOT. The worse fish & chips I have ever had in my life. Greasy greasy and the grease tasted OLD i.e. it had been used over and over for a long time. The fish had absolutely NO FLAVOR. If I had shut my eyes I could not have guessed what I was eating. Moveover, the WHITE fish was half YELLOWISH on the outside and the fish texture was as if it had been frozen for a while and also was old. I took all the batter off the fish and used the tarter sauce to at least have something to eat for my over $10.00. The tarter sauce was equally BAD. NO FLAVOR, except for a light cheap mayonnaise taste. Apparently Pacificians have very low standards for fish & chips. I'll get a MacDonalds fish filet next time or fish sticks from Safeway. read more

I was craving fried shrimp so i yelped and this was the closes spot from where i lived, my boyfriend and i decided to go down there and try it, i ordered a combination of chicken and shrimp and i came with fries, and my boyfriend had the fish and chips HANDS DOWN A GREAT SPOT TO EAT food took about 15 min wich is reasonable food came out hot and steamy and the girl that took our order brought our food she was very friendly and asked if we needed any sauces, we will forsure be going back for more. prices are good for the amount they serve. read more

Despite the fact that this restaurant takes cash only, my experience was above average. The texture of the fish was perfect and the chips were decent as well (I kind of wished I had a beer with the meal because I hear from other customers that the fish and chips go hand in hand with beer. Waited 20 minutes for fish & chips to go, and the "chips" were cold and flabby, and the fish had clearly gone straight from the deep freeze, where it likely spent a very long time given the tough texture and total lack of flavor, into the fryer. There is no excuse for serving old frozen fish in the bay area where fresh fish is readily available for daily delivery to restaurants directly from local suppliers. The style of the batter was not British, despite Ye Olde Englande theme of the decor. It was a thin crumb-like coating, not the fluffy batter of English fish and chips. Would rate this place 3.5 stars more. Service wasnt that great and it wasnt even rly busy. The food was deep fried a lil too much but still good. I fried the camelot which had scallops, fish, shrimp, and oysters. the shrimp tasted like frozen food. The oysters were decent but my mom liked it the most. My favorite would have to be the scallops and fish. And i drowned it in malt vinegar sooo good! also ordered a side of deep fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were not as fresh as they couldve been but were still good. substituted the chips for sweet potato and they were rly good. i wanna come back when im 21 in December and also try their deep fried mars bars! read more
