They just shipped their collection of holiday chocolates and cookies. I normally visit for tea and soft drinks, but randomly purchased this box of Border chocolate cookies and these are delicious! The cookie to the far right is a perfect combination of sweet with a hint of savory. Will definitely go back for another box before they run out. read more

This place is so charming and such a lovely addition to the neighborhood. I stopped in here the other day and I felt like I was transported to the UK. My family is Welsh - and much of my family currently lives in Wales and England. Having grown up visiting the UK every summer - I grew up with clotted cream and scones, Horlicks, sausage rolls, Walkers crisps, Hot Cross Buns, Galaxy Chocolate, chutney, fruitcake, Ribena, Jaffa Cakes, tea and biscuits, and much more. This store has all of that and much more! The staff member working when I popped in - was exceptionally kind and was there to answer any questions I had in regards to their beautifully curated selection of products from Scotland, Wales, England etc. Truthfully I wanted to buy everything and I wish that my mom and sister could have been with me to explore this magical shop. I know that they would have appreciated the well curated store and the good vibes throughout it. I ended up buying a fantastic Pendleton picnic blanket (perfect for GG Park ) and a bag of Jelly Babies sweets. Later - after checking out their facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/willowonthegreen/ - I was thrilled to see that they regularly post about new product additions to the store and they often host unique cheese tastings throughout the week. They have even collaborated with Arizemendi bakery - doing Fondue tastings - using Arizmendi's exceptional bread. Willows on the Green is amazing. It was evident in my brief time in the store - that they're truly invested in being part of the Inner Sunset community. They enjoy supporting other local businesses in the area - and they're excited about sharing the excellent aspects of British culture/food with the San Francisco community. Thank you! Long live the Queen of England! Wished I was there to see her in person. She'll always be remembered throughout the entire world. Other British stores and tea cafés have paid tribute to her, even the specialty store Willow. Just thought I would swing by to see how are things back in Europe. What's my first purchase in the specialty store in the Inner Sunset? Something to drink and a gummy snack for starters. I wanted to buy that meat shaped haggis, but only if my whole family agrees that I would buy one. There are other items on the shelves I haven't come across; thus, I'll wait for a later time. Highly recommend anyone who loves British goods. read more

If you like British/Scottish/Irish food, cheeses, meat pies, snacks, biscuits, cookies, chips, creams, jelly, jam, drinks, teas, etc, this is the place to go. Very quaint looking. We went in around Halloween time last year and it was amazing to see two mechanical witches churning away in the front window. I have a short video of it, but not sure if I can upload here. Service was very nice, I purchased some snacks and I believe they cater to picnic selections so you can get some nice cheeses and snacks for your picnic at nearby Golden Gate Park. read more

Excellent selection of cheese (including vegan if that's your thing), back bacon, black and white puddings, piccalilli, Heinz beans, Branston pickle, brown sauces, etc. To top things off the owner is local to the neighborhood and is highly knowledgeable about cheese, so even if you walk in here knowing nothing about what kind you like, you're definitely going to leave with a cheese that you probably didn't even know existed which is perfectly matched to your palate. Pair a few items from here with the excellent baked goods from next door and you have the makings of a perfect picnic in the park. Fantastic new spot for all the English goodies. They have a lovely cheese selection and the staff are very helpful. You can get all the nice things for an English breakfast here, and of course cheese and salami for a nice picnic. You won't find Cadbury dairy milk nor crisps, but this is a fancy shop - you can find those at Scottish Imports downtown or online very easily. They are focused on carrying the good stuff here - and my thanks to them for that! read more

This shop makes me miss the year I lived in London. Such a great addition to the neighborhood with all sorts of yummy offerings and great hostess gifts. I LOVE this place! A lifelong Anglophile, I was lucky enough to live in London for a year during college and travel to the UK as often as I can. This wonderful little shop is like taking a step across the pond. Imagine my excitement when I spied McVitie's on the shelf - it was a major food group for me and the rest of the group of budget-conscious students I lived with and they taste every bit as good as they did then. The selection of cheeses is remarkable - couldn't resist taking a few home for cocktail hour. The shelves are stocked to bursting with anything and everything you could want - jams, honeys, Branston pickle for your ploughman's lunch, meat pies, candies, you name it! And the staff is super friendly and generous with the cheese tasting, too. I'll be back again and again and plan to get my cheese board for Christmas outfitted here in the next couple of weeks. Have you ever watched The Great British Bake Off and your little American brain tries to imagine what the hell a Bakewell tart, sausage roll, or Cheshire cheese is supposed to taste like? Then you'll love this shop. They carry an assortment of British cheeses, snacks, and other goodies you aren't likely to find anywhere else, conveniently located next door to Arizmendi so you can load up on carbs to go with. Vegetarians can also look forward to a few Linda McCartney frozen foods. The proprietor Alex is super friendly and committed to changing the "British food is bad" stereotype (but honestly, who still thinks this?) by providing high-quality products you actually want to eat, so no dusty cans of Heinz beans or stale Cadbury chocolate bars here. On his recommendation, I tried an aged cheddar, a blue cheese that was actually orange, and a Ploughman's chutney (Where has this been all my life?).
