Tucked into this little corner, it defintiely has a nice diner feel! You order from the front so there is defintiely no waiter besides giving your food. Very busy when we went in for lunch during the week. The crab salad was quite fresh but surprised how small it was for the size for an entry. It was romaine lettuce with some overcooked eggs and half a avacado. Glad I got the musubi with it which was warm and sweet with the sauce. Wife got the smash burger with fries which was probably the best item on the menu but I just wanted to be healthy with the salad! Great place, nice food.

    Katsu

Decided to come here with my bro, and as a twin, we (un)surprisingly ordered the same Katsu (forgot what type of meat it was, but it was bomb!). Note this ain't the Japanese Katsu, the breading is thicker and it comes with macaroni, not miso soup. Still it was amazing, the sauce was delish, and crunchy! Although most people seem to enjoy the burgers (which is what I'm getting next time), try this Katsu if you want a bit o Hawaii and friendly service! After we finished we walked a couple minutes to the beach to burn off those calories, and my goodness the view was a nice dessert!

Our first time here and the person who took my order, he was super nice and helpful. Even the lady who packed my order was thorough and made sure I had all my items, condiments, and utensils. The place was getting slowly packed for Valentines. Inside it was simply decorated and they even had a little shop to buy shirts etc We ordered: 1. 3 musubis: 2 spam and 1 chicken katsu. All were fresh and perfectly seasoned. 2. Loco moco: It was decent and I got extra gravy on the side. Surprisingly, the mac salad was amazing in my opinion. 3. Smash burger with bacon & bbq sauce: I tried ordering a smash burger but with the western bacon cheeseburger and it didn't come out right. It ended up being a regular burger, not smash and it had shredded lettuce in it which threw me off. 4. Chocolate whoopie pie: Soft and fresh. It was delicious 5. Chocolate chip cookie & white chocolate butterscotch cookies: Soft and fresh. You can taste all the flavors without it being overly sweet 6. Chocolate milkshake: Average nothing special. Overall, the food was ok. I'll definitely come back to try other items.

I rounded up. Rating should be 3-3.5. Lunched here on 5 January on a very rainy day. Wife had fish and chips; I had an open-faced turkey sammich. The fish was okay to good but lacked flavor. We added salt and it was then good. The chips were soggy; should never happen. My turkey sammich was very tasty but...$22 for, no kidding, two slices of good tasting turkey on bread with gravy and mashies. I really liked the taste but the price for what we got was pretty high. Would I eat here again? Probably. But I'd return the soggy fries next time. Service was friendly and pretty quick.

The Shore Shack soft opening is off to an excellent start! Excellent food. Great vibe. Perfect beach location. I had the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger with fresh house made Potato Chips. Super Yum! The burger is is daily fresh ground beef. Offered with the customer choice of either flame grill, or flat top cook methods. I ordered mine flame grilled to a perfect medium since it's fresh ground. So good! Sev The Coke here is from a fountain. The fountain produces a nice glass of Coca-Cola. A vibe that reminds of earlier days. A staff that cares about your visit. Fast and free Internet to help you share family visits. A cute shop for Pacifica gifts too! Every point above adds up to a bright future for The Shore Shack. And steps from the beach is great too! I will be back!

Great service. Food was good. Nice ambiance. The staff was very friendly and helpful

    Smash burger - Yum!

Nice spot in Pacifica by the water. We specifically came here for the smash burger and wasn't disappointed. Restaurant is nice and clean. Love the high ceiling. You place your order at the counter. The staff was friendly and came to our table a few times to check on us. The food we ordered was delicious: smash burger, chicken bacon ranch sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich and corn dog. The soft serve ice cream was an added bonus.

Clam chowder with crab, cup (to-go) 5/5 Also had lightly toasted sourdough slices. Yum!!

My husband and I came here for takeout and the staff was professional and nice. We ordered 2 smash burgers with fries and sweet potato fries. I also saw one of the soups of the day was clam chowder with crab. Our order was ready in 10 minutes which allowed me to take a quick walk to see the shore. Smash burger: 5/5 Savory and meaty! So good! We did takeout because I had ripe avocados at home so I added that in. We got grilled onions and those were delicious! My husband did note that there weren't any frills with lettuce or tomatoes but honestly it didn't need it. Chowder: 5/5 Delicious and the fresh crab on top was so sweet! I wish I got a bowl instead of a cup. My husband and I will be back and we'd love to dine in. The interior is clean and nice with diner vibes. Reminds me of Ruby's Diner in SoCal, but a light teal. Can't wait to try to banana split too!

We decided to try our new local spot, and we liked it! They have you order at the counter first, but then plenty of people around to bring your beverage, offer refills, and buss tables. We had a French dip, buffalo wings, patty melt and fish and chips. .you fish and chips were very tender and fresh tasting. Comes with malt vinegar and tartar sauce. The wings were cooked perfectly, even though a few were pretty deformed looking lol. This is classic diner type food and would be a great stop for a bite fresh from the beach. Owned by the same folks who run Breakers and happy to support another local business. Couple suggestions...plates could use a little more "refinement," just meaning they are not all that much to look at. We eat with our eyes first! Wings would be nice if they came with some extra buffalo sauce on the side to dip in. Plate visuals notwithstanding, it didn't take away from the flavor which was right where we wanted it!

5 stars -- because 4.5 isn't an option and I'm not here to start a fight. Stopped into this newly opened, family-owned diner with a 50's vibe that somehow feels both nostalgic and like it actually passed a health inspection this century. It's right next to the ocean, which means you can enjoy your meal while contemplating the vastness of the sea... or the fact that seagulls definitely want your food more than you do. I ordered the grilled smash burger, which was excellent. My daughter inhaled the tater tots and homemade chips like she was being timed. I tried one chip, and immediately questioned why I've accepted non-crispy chips They also have a merchandise shop attached, filled with things you don't need but will absolutely buy anyway because "supporting local businesses" feels better than admitting you just wanted another hoodie. Friendly staff, great food, ocean air, and no identity crisis about being a diner. Strongly recommend.

We're really happy to have another restaurant in this location, and we tried it today on their fourth day in business. The menu has a lot of variety, and the prices seem fair. The staff was amazingly friendly, though they didn't get a chance to check in for drink refills. The food was good, and with a bit of time, I think it could become great. I'd suggest using ground beef that's not quite as lean for their burgers, and actually smashing the smashburgers to get that classic texture and flavor. We can't wait to try more of their menu options soon, and hopefully raise this to a 5-star review.

Misubi; teriyaki chicken, spam, and chicken katsu
    Rick B.

Stopped by Shore Shack and had a great experience. The chicken katsu was perfectly cooked, nice and crispy without being greasy. I also really liked the macaroni, it wasn't drowning in cream, and I didn't realize how much better I liked it this way. The service was super friendly, which made the whole experience even better. And don't skip dessert, the soft serve was hands down the best I've had in a long time. Simple, well-executed food done right. I'll definitely be back.

We walked into a space that feels designed for groups, with plenty of seating and a menu built around shareable desserts. The interior has a contemporary, stylish feel with comfortable seating arrangements that accommodate both small groups and larger parties, making it the type of place where you can come after dinner and spend time trying a few different things instead of just ordering one dessert. The energy is lively and social, with groups gathered around large dessert plates and the hum of conversation filling the room. The bingsu is the main attraction here, especially the mango sticky rice bingsu and volcano-style creations. We ordered the mango sticky rice version and found the shaved ice had that soft, fluffy texture that melts quickly, creating a light, refreshing base that absorbs the toppings well. The combination of sweet mango, coconut rice, and the fine ice created a nice balance of fruity sweetness and the familiar coconut flavor, and the toppings were generous enough that each bite felt complete. The volcano-style creations add a dramatic presentation, with toppings cascading over the ice and creating layers of texture and flavor that make the dessert feel more like an experience than just a bowl of ice. The crepe cakes are also worth trying, with lighter layers that make them easier to enjoy without feeling overly heavy, and the matcha and strawberry flavors stood out for their clean, well-balanced profiles. The portions are definitely on the larger side, so this is a better place to share. We found that splitting a few desserts across the table allowed us to try more of the menu without overcommitting, and the variety of options from bingsu to honey toast and lava-style desserts meant there was something for everyone. The honey toast is a fun choice if you want something warm and more indulgent, with a crisp exterior and a soft, buttery interior that pairs well with the ice cream and toppings. Some desserts can feel a little expensive depending on what you order, but the presentation and variety make it more of a dessert outing than a quick snack, and the quality of the ingredients is noticeable across the board. Service can be a little slower when it gets busy, especially later at night when the shop fills up, but the staff are generally friendly and the atmosphere makes it easy to wait. We noticed the team handling the steady flow with efficiency, and the pacing of the meal stayed comfortable even when the restaurant was full. The energy of the room remains social and relaxed, and the staff checked in at the right moments without rushing us through the meal. U:Dessert Story is a solid spot for creative Asian desserts, especially if you are going with friends and want to try a few different flavors together. The combination of shareable portions, thoughtful presentation, and a lively atmosphere makes it a destination for a more social dessert experience, offering a meal that feels both indulgent and communal. The variety across the menu gives you room to explore different styles on repeat visits, and the quality of the desserts keeps the experience feeling intentional and satisfying.

I wasn't leaning on the case at all--I was just trying to see the flavors. He was rude and condescending. I was then told by another employee there were no samples, so I had to choose a flavor without tasting it. After paying nearly $8 for a small scoop of gelato in a cup with a cone on top, I stepped to the side after paying to put the gelato into the cone myself. Even though I was completely out of the way and bothering no one, I was immediately told I had to do it outside. The worst part was the attitude. Every one of the three employees I interacted with was rude, unfriendly, and seemed annoyed by customers. From start to finish, I felt like I was being scolded rather than served. For premium-priced gelato, I expected at least basic courtesy. Instead, I got poor service, unnecessary rules, and an atmosphere that made me feel unwelcome. I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.
