"Cammack and see us," that is the slogan of this Yorktown/Muncie ice cream shop. The slogan takes the cake. I know that when ever I visit the Muncie area I have to go to Cammack. Cammack is a reto diner-like restaurant. The food is what you typically expect for an ice cream shop, corn dogs, nachos, tenderloins, and their famous FRIED BOLOGNA. I am only here for the ice cream in all honesty and I have yet to be disappointed. My all time favorite is the Yorktown Mudpie. It has coffee flavors while having chunks of Oreo bits throughout. The consistency of the ice cream is so creamy and very rich. The ambience is that of an old time gas station or auto shop. I remember when Cammack Station was just Pete's Grocery, a tiny shop in a tiny town with just a single stop sign. Cammack Station has made an outstanding name for itself with an over-the-top retro vibe, consistently good food, and friendly service. It has expanded three times since opening, and one visit explains why. The strawberry shortcake (in season) is the best around -- generous portions, fresh strawberries, and a lightly crusted cake bottom that doesn't get soggy like you might find elsewhere. Car shows and other events bring traffic from far away. And the way the decorate for fall and the holidays is beyond anything I've seen at a restaurant. A true destination! read more

Found this place on yelp while near by for a meeting. It's a very nice, large facility with indoor and outdoor seating. They've done a nice job with decorating to give it a nostalgic feel. It was busy but the line moved fast. My buddy got a burger and liked it. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it was disappointing. It wasn't bad, but just bread and the chicken salad and it felt like it came directly from Gordon food service; out of the container and onto the bread. We haven't been here in quite a while and they spent 2020 reconfiguring and adding to their delightful space. This needs to be a destination for everyone! Cute, kitschy atmosphere. Simple good food like the sloppy Joe and fries our daughter had, and the pulled pork sandwich and tots for my hub. Both were enjoyable and I was told the buns made their sandwiches even better. I opted for the grilled chicken salad and was happily surprised at the warm tender chicken topping my salad abundantly. I want to love this place and they are ALMOST there! The burgers are just so average though. I've tried 3 different burgers and they are always dry and a bit underwhelming. I switched to the tenderloin WANTING to love it, but it was a bit greasy and bland. I hit it with some salt and it livened it up a bit. Went to Cammack Station for lunch today. Don't know if I didn't notice how clean it was before or maybe because it was so crowded. It was just a neat restaurant that has a transportation theme. Loved the decor. Now to the food. I ordered there famous breaded Tenderloin and French fries. Asked for the fries to be crisp and they were. As for the Tenderloin it was crispy and a little thicker then I have had not a complaint at all. Others in the group all had different hamburgers and not one complaint. The food here is great, nice selection of choices, cooked fresh when you order it. Not fast food. The restaurant is always clean, the food is very consistent and good, They have great ice cream and the atmosphere is very nostalgic. They are very popular and at times it is harder to get an inside table. The only complaint I have ever had is service consistency. This place had me so excited, but really feel short with execution. The presentation and aesthetic was amazing! The place was clean and the decor was exciting. But the service and food did not equate to the atmosphere. You enter and order at the counter, pick a seat after. But while ordering, the cashier wasn't very polite and seemed to be in a hurry, even though the place was nearly empty. I ordered quickly, a pulled pork sandwich with fries and a side of nacho cheese. I had to clarify that I wanted a side of nacho cheese twice because they almost tried to charge me for an appetizer of nachos. The food itself was mediocre and not worth the price. The pulled pork was bland and definitely not house made. The fries were generic and not very appetizing and hardly salted. I should've tried the ice cream, but I didn't feel so well after eating the food or else I would've, since that appears to be what they are known for. If you are a fan of nostalgia, then this could be a five star location to check out. It is filled with signs and memorabilia/photos that reflect an era that some of us older Yelpers remembers. Even the music playing was popular about 50 years ago and quite enjoyable too! Inside there is a counter where you can look at a menu and select your items. After paying, you give your name and they will call out to you. I ordered a Cammack Station Shake and a breaded tenderloin with tots for lunch. I got a shout when my shake was ready, and then another a few minutes later when the meal was ready. The menu is traditional American food, just a step up from fast food. I will give the kitchen credit that they didn't smash the tenderloin flat to make it look larger. They let it cook and retain its natural juicy texture. Now, if they would only add some seasoning to the food other than the tableside salt and pepper, they may have received a higher rating. The tots were okay (but unseasoned) and were a bit oily in taste and texture. Not bad enough to send back, without the crunch that makes for a good tot. The shake had a nice flavor but was thick enough that I couldn't get much of it through the extra long straw. I ended up using my spoon for most of it until it had melted sufficiently to make its way through the straw. So, the food was pretty standard fare and not much to rave about. But it wasn't bad either. The table condiments perked things up so that I was able to enjoy the flavor that I found. Come for the nostalgia and grab a bite if you are hungry. Typically order the same thing, breaded tenderloin with tater tots. Seems like they've changed up the loin in the last year or so, been a little inconsistent. The tots rock though! You get your food quickly, no matter how packed they are. The ambiance is an acquired taste (& reason for 4-star [it's way Way WAY too much clutter for my taste]). We stopped to look at their Christmas display and realized it had been at least 6 years since we had been inside. We took the opportunity to have a bathroom stop from Christmas light driving and have a little snack. It won't be 6 years again until our next visit. They have expanded both the physical location and the menu in that time. The inside had all kinds of fun decor. The menu had a little bit of everything. My husband is on a mission to find Indiana's best tenderloin and Cammack has made his list. We ordered a quick snack of French fries and onion rings as we had already had an early dinner. French fries were thick and crispy, non-salted. Onion rings were a beer battered and devoured by our 5 year old. The menu had sandwiches, salads, soups and of course ice cream and plenty of sodas to choose from. Staff was friendly too. We came in after 7:35 and they technically closed at 8pm. No one hovered and several people ordered meals after us. Everything was clean, for being a "burger and fries" place there was no greasy feeling like some places have. The building and decor was fabulous. Me and my husband split a tenderloin. Onion rings and mushrooms so we would have room for ice cream.The tenderloin was good but a little thick. My half had a tough part that I couldn't bite through. It looked homemade. The mushrooms and onion rings were average, not homemade. The ice cream I picked was black Cherry. I didn't care for it at all. It didn't have any flavor and was not frozen enough. It was almost the consistency of whipped cream. I threw it away. This place is as good it gets. It's a short drive from Muncie, IN and well worth the 40+ minute drive from Indianapolis. This quaint shoppe will bring back memories for all ages. Cammack is a beautiful brick building, with an old refurbished gas pump in front, and a menu you'll stare at for 10 minutes because "everything sounds good". Another user said "this is not really a restaurant - this is an ice cream shop that also serves food". Although this place serves tremendous Ice Cream, I respectfully disagree. The Ice Cream is Blue Bell sold at any local grocery and with such a large kitchen, Cammack could build a much larger food menu, but keep true to the "station". A quick place to grab a bite to eat, a soda, and an ice cream. If you want a Sundae or a Shake, go to Cammack Station. If you want a sandwich or burger, go to Cammack Station. Truthfully, you can't go wrong here, but this place shouldn't be remembered as an ice cream first type of diner. I ordered Pete's Onion Burger, and it was easily the best burger I've had in a very long time. I just wish I would have gone the extra step and made it spicy. Usually onion rings are onion rings, but the rings here knocked my meal out of the ball park. If you came here for the food, save room for a shake on your way out to really cap off your experience. The inside is cluttered with old decor that will take you back in time. If you're nostalgic of the first 50-60 years of the 20th century, this place will be your heaven. We wanted to pick up our college student for a quick bite on our way home from Fort Wayne. I had seen the billboard several times on my many trips to BSU and decided this would be a great place to check out. From the moment we pulled up, we were not disappointed. The nostalgia and warm glow of neon was precious, upon entering the doors we were further impressed with the decor, such a cute restaurant! The menu is extensive, not healthy but who wants anything but greasy good comfort food at a place like this. We all got burgers and they were sooooo good, and so were the tots... the mozzarella sticks were grocery store quality so we may skip those next time but it didn't dampen our experience..... we topped it off with some delicious ice cream which was sweet, but the customer service was far sweeter. It's probably a good thing I haven't because years ago when I would come here, the tenderloins were pre-made fritters, the ice cream was blue bell, and the onion rings were frozen. But today, the tenderloin is hand dipped, and excellent I might add. The pork was thick and juicy and the batter was crunchy and not oily. The onion rings were also hand dipped and very tasty. The ice cream is now home made and it was excellent as well. I can't wait to go back for a burger and a milkshake. The ambiance is pure americana. The building is an old service station impeccably restored and full of beautifully restored gravity gas pumps (with huge glass tanks) and old pop bottles and other automotive memorabilia.
