We take him once a week on fridays and just loves it and we love it because he gets to play with all the dogs and is super tired when we pick him up. this is the place we take him to stay over night(s) when we go out of town for a few days and they take good care of him. We took our two dogs there for the first time and loved the staff and place. dogs running around tails in the air wagging, running and sniffing a true doggie paradise. Our one dog is a rescue and he can be timid at times.. but he did great. Since it was their first time there the staff made sure that they would FIT into the environment without any issues to make sure they were social dogs, this is something that I appreciate so no dog will get stressed and act out. I found camp canine on Yelp based on the good reviews and location. We needed to leave our dog there for a few hours in the morning and wanted to make sure he was going to be safe and have fun. I'm so happy that we found camp canine. The staff is very friendly. You can tell from the moment you enter the camp that the people here love what they do. Camp Canine was able to take care of my dog and enabled me to have a stress-free wedding. What a great find. My aunt regularly uses Camp Canine, so when we were visiting for the day and needed a place for our skittish pup to stay, this was the obvious choice. We made a reservation for the day camp (though I found out later, you don't need a reservation if you're just using the day service. Totally great if you need some last minute day care!), and showed up promptly when they opened. The staff is incredibly kind and really cared about the dogs who were there. The campus itself seemed like a dog's dream-a big pool for the big dogs and a nice separate area for smaller dogs as well. Our Maggie was in a trial period so she was kept a bit separate for the day, to see how she'd do with other dogs and much to my surprise she did alright! We were very pleased with the whole experience, and found out right before leaving that since this was our first visit, it was free! My only wish is that they didn't use a photo with a dog in a Native American headdress, but nothing is perfect. We will definitely be using Camp Canine again. read more

We left our 5 month old Aussie here for a day when we had to drive out of town for an appointment. We were a little nervous as he is very excitable and can get overwrought around other dogs, but they assured us they'd match him with the right playgroup and he'd have a good time. When we came back he was happily playing with the 'big dogs' (he has delusions of grandeur) and had clearly had a completely fantastic time. They gave us a 'report card' complete with photos of him and his new doggie besties and the carers seemed genuinely fond of all the dogs. We'll be back! read more

For training, John is the best. He understands dogs, likes dogs and knows how to get you properly working with your dog. I've trained two dogs with him. I've tried other trainers and though many are good, there is no comparison. He has an innate understanding of what the dog is thinking and how to use the dog's nature to it to get the behaviors that you want. There are trainers that can teach rote obedience but if you want a dog that responds to you, or if you have a dog with specific issues, this is the place to go. I've watched him work with dogs of varying temperaments and abilities to learn and am always in awe. He is firm and somewhat blunt with the owners, so leave your ego at home. Anthony is the newer trainer. I did one four week class with him and he was great! Both these men love dogs and understand them. A great place to go for any training issues you may have. Normally I would be giving Camp Canine five stars (or six if I could) but the downside is that the organization at Camp Canine needs refining. Hopefully, that will improve soon. read more

This was and is the best day care we have ever used or been to and felt 100 percent care free leaving Scout. The friendly owner was so nice and explained where and what would go on during Scouts stay, and we stayed until she joined the other dogs. She took to it right away or at least till all the others dogs checked her out. I will make this a special stop when we go back up there (Santa Barbara) we still have more area's to visit and feel very comfortable with leaving Scout overnight if needed. A note 1st time visitors are free for day care for the 1st 2 hours they close at 5pm, we left Scout from 12:30 to 4pm and didn't pay a cent but was given free biscuits and a sweet report card with everything scout did for the time she was there, and a picture. read more

Wow! I was going to try to groom my pup myself because of a horrible first experince she had with a groomer! She was screaming and trying to bite to get away.( Never acted that way before or after) They put on head phones because of the screaming. I was told to call and talk with the staff by one of their customers. The entire staff is wonderful caring and really understood. They had a plan for my pup to take it slow with her. They would let her down to play when it was getting to much for her. They were not in a rush and with their training they knew how to make it the best it could be for her! No screaming or biting. If you have a pup or dog who is terffied this is the place to go. Truley caring. Not only were they good to my Pup she looked super cute!!!!!!! Camp Canine is a wonderful and safe place for dogs! I have no words to express how thankful I am for all the people that work over there. Everyone really cares about my dog, they know him by his name and treat him with love and care. I was about to be kicked out of my apartment because my dog had separation anxiety and would bark and cry when alone. John and Anthony trained him and taught him how to control himself! They are amazing trainers. Maryann is the manager and she has a special place in my heat forever! She was able to accommodate my crazy work schedule, she always has a positive, calm and loving atitude towards me and my dog when I drop him off. She was even able to show me that part of my dog separation anxiety was coming from me, because I used to have a really hard time being apart from him even for one night. The place is amazing and people are really good on what they do. At first I was really excited about bringing our awesome 7 month old boxer puppy to camp canine for 3 hours while my husband and I went to a wine association event in Buelton. The girl on the phone was so nice! We get there and it was a whole different story. We arrived to loud chaos. I couldn't believe how crazy it felt. We signed all the paper work and showed proof of shots. I was apprehensive to even leave him there. The associates tell us that they are going to put our 35 lb puppy in the big dog pen. These dogs are enormous! There are huge Shepards and retrievers , even some pit pulls. all weighing a minimum of 60 lbs and these dogs are wild. I had to beg and plead to put our dog in the small pen. She then proceeded to tell me that they would test him out in there and if there were issues they would have to move him. Our dog is so gentle, of course there wouldn't be a problem with it. When we picked him up I asked if he was ok in the small pen, sheepishly she said yes, We returned home the next day and our dog now has kennel cough, hacking up a storm. He had to be put on antibiotics. He is coughing up flem and is so sad and uncomfortable. This place is a filthy, and they clearly aren't checking to make sure all the dogs are healthy. I highly recommend anyone to NOT go here with your dog. read more

We went up to Santa Barbara from L.A. for the day and left our two Mini-Schnauzers with Camp Canine so that we could go to the museum on a Sunday. We were so happy that they were open. Nothing was open in L.A. long enough for us to be able to enjoy the full day trip. I just love the campiness of this place. It just seems like a fun place for your dog to hang out for the day. There is change in the terrain, ups and downs, outside, inside; lost of shade and water; and curious things to sniff around. The people were really nice and knew how to handle the dogs and kept the area clean. What else could you ask for? read more

This place is the best resort/spa/training center in Santa Barbara. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and the campy atmosphere makes you feel like you are at a camp in the high sierras. I have two dogs who love going there more than anything. They all know my dogs and call them by name. They always fit them in for a drop off day care, or bath even if it is last minute. If I cannot pick them up their concierge service will drop them off at my front door. Mary Sorosky the owner is the engine behind the place, she is always finding the most organic, newest nutritional dog food for your pet. My dogs waste used to smell. She now has them on a food called NRG which when soaked in hot water and mixed with high quality kibble their waste no longer smells. My 6-9 year olds are fitter than they have ever been and are never sick due to the excellent diet she has them on. She is more knowledgable about nutrition than a lot of vets in this town. They are currently putting in a therapy pool which older and arthritic dogs will enjoy. No other dog spa can hold a candle to this place. The other owner, John Sorosky brings over 25 years of experience training everything from puppies to difficult dogs. Both of them rescue all types of dogs, rehabilitate them, and find them suitable homes. I can honestly say my dogs love camp canine as much as being on the couch at home. I have heard that some competition moved a few blocks away, what competition? They are the best at what they do, and with their 50 years of combined experience in the dog industry, no one can claim this in SB. They live, eat, breathe dogs. I'm really glad I found camp canine. Their training program is wonderful. We took a puppy class when she was little, but I still had a tough time getting Izzie to listen to me. I found Camp Canine's training program to be very effective. It was as much about teaching me as it was about training my dog. Now I know what I have to do to be the leader Izzie wants to follow. She pays much better attention now, even when we're in busy places like at the beach or when people come over to the house. And she loves going for doggie day care where she gets to play with all her pals. read more

We started taking my Zoey to "camp" as a puppy to help with her dog socialization. She now goes once a week for the day and loves her time there playing with the other dogs and the caretakers. I love that there are rocks for her to climb and pools for her to splash in. Not your typical astro turf and fence doggy environment. The staff is wonderful, I always feel comfortable leaving her in their care and they are truly knowledgeable when it comes to all things canine. I am new to Santa Barbara and was very nervous about leaving my precious Simon in a new place. I went to interview a nearby competitor and was turned off by their unfriendly manner. When I found Camp Canine online and read the reviews, I was hopeful that this would be the place for Simon. I called Jayne and found her to be not only friendly, but patient with all my questions. She offered a free 3 hour visitation to make sure everyone would feel comfortable before we committed to boarding. The environment far exceeded my expectations; wow, it really is a fun place, complete with rock climbing, swimming and lounging areas. Simon made lots of friends and Jayne always stayed in touch by email and sent me lots of pictures of Simon having a great time. It's really comforting to have that kind of contact while you are far away from your baby. I cannot recommend Camp Canine Enough! Just what I was looking for! My dog spent 4 days here while we were on vacation. I guess the only real way to evaluate this type of facility is to notice the condition of your dog when you pick him up. Our Lab is always happy and playful and that's how he was when we dropped him off, but not that way when we picked him up. He was subdued, had cuts on his muzzle and was limping. He got a bath on the last day and they cut his nails....way to short as it turns out. That's why he is limping and two days later continues to limp. At first I thought it was just sore muscles but now he can barely walk. His Vet appointment is tomorrow. The facility staff said he was having fun the whole 4 days, which is probably true, but I can only say he certainly is not happy now. Also, I noticed that there were some very aggressive dogs there and I observed several dog fights that were broken up quickly. The reviews show it's a great place for dogs and for many I'm sure it is, but just not for me. However, the staff is very friendly and professional. It's just after spending so much to board your dog and now to have to spend more for the Vet visit, it's disheartening. read more

The second visit to Camp Canine, I was going to be leaving my dog for a longer period for boarding. Before dropping her off, I decided to take her to her favorite park along the beach, telling her I would be leaving her for a little while at camp. Well... we got to the park & she would not get out of the car. Totally refused to get out of the car even being oceanside! I was confused & selfishly a little sad bc I wanted to have our park time together. Finally after she stubbornly refused to get out even at the temptation of a treat, we went on to camp. As we approached Camp Canine, she stood up in the back of the car & started whining & whimpering. Before I could even get out of the car, she was trying to get out of the back. I barely had the gate unlocked when she flew through & landed on the ground... She then pulled me right to the front door & before I knew it, she was pulling the staff member to take her back to Lake Splashmore. It was cute although I was going to miss her, I was relieved to know that camp was exciting & fun for her. Needless to say camp became a regular place for her to go for day care while I was working, swimming for her hips, amazing nutritional resources, & on occasion, grooming. The staff is incredible, friendly, knowledgable, efficient, effective, & accommodating. Even after having to be away from the area for awhile, if you ask her about camp, she perks right up! Looking forward to surprising her with a camp visit soon! It's the absolute BEST place I have ever taken my dog in 11 years. read more
