The Love and Camaraderie was AMAZING! Everyone seemed to have such a great time and smiles and laughter filled the air! So many new friendships were made and the positive feedback has been overwhelming! Thank you CampOut Poconos for promoting such an inclusive and diverse community in the Poconos!! We go to a lot of campgrounds similer to Camp Out (Woods, VT Freedom, Oak Hill Hideaway, Twin…read morePonds) to name a few. I thought the $40 PP membership was a bit high but I understand. I was taken aback at the size of the foot print and acrage here. Its HUGE and very hilly. Its very spread out. We came for one night to check it out and it was a Thursday so not much going on, which was expected. The pool was nice and clean, however closed early. There was little to no cell phone signal (AT&T or Verizon) or Wifi which needs to be addressed as it is a safety issue. The overall infrastructure is there but needs some work. There were many old seaonals that looked abandoned and run down and campers that needed to junked. THe store was nice and had a cool lounge area attached. The pavillion was also nice and close to where the bon fires are held. Our RV site was easy to pull into and hookup which was appreciated. The staff were friendly. I would come back but on a weekend to see more people and activities.

That includes…read more50amp electricity, and a water hookup was available but our hose was not long enough to reach it. For sewer, there is a centrally located dump station near the shower building. There are 2 showers and a four-stall bathroom on each side of the shower building, and they were relatively clean. It was very quiet and peaceful. With only 18 sites, there were not a lot of people and we felt like we had the forest to ourselves some days. Despite the hot weather in July, it was very comfortable sitting outside in the shade of the trees, and I was rarely bothered by mosquitos at all. Our dogs loved looking for chipmunks, which were all over the place. I went on a few walks with the dogs on the purple and red trails. We never saw any bears, deer or other wildlife besides birds and chipmunks.

At 3,494 acres it is the largest park in the Morris county Park System. The park has 24.5 miles of multi-use trails including a blazed bike trail. Horseback riding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, bow hunting, tent and RV camping are available. There are hiking trails for all levels. Headley Overlook at 1,280 feet provides a view of Lake Hopatcong. Saffin Pond provides fishing opportunities although no swimming or boating is allowed. Bird watchers often come to observe migratory birds. Beaver inhabit this pond and can often be seen. The park is free with the exception of RV and tent camping which require a permit. For $20 you will get water and electricity (30-50 amp) hookup for your RV. Spots are wide and well separated. The park has clean restrooms and a bear proof garbage system.

The owners are nice and accommodating. I called to make a reservation and was able to do so. It was $35.00 a night. The price includes your campsite, fire pit, access to kayaks, showers, and bathroom. To be clear, we picked a site where you can set up a tent and not an RV. But RV sites are also available. Check in was a breeze and was brought to our site once we checked in. Wood is sold on the site. Its a dollar per log. We did see a bear by the garbage and immediately called the owners to let them know. They did come and close the garbage bins and made a lot of noise to lure the bear away. Make sure after you eat you put all food and drinks in your car and leave nothing out once you head to bed. This will attract bears if you leave stuff out over night.

There is nothing…read morewrong with expanding into luxury cabins, but the campground should not raise campsite prices while simultaneously reducing amenities and leaving the camping area itself unimproved and overlooked. As it stands, the value for RV campers is simply not there. The entrance has been beautifully done, but once you enter as a campsite guest, that changes. We stayed at this campground years ago when sites were around $70 per night. At that time, the campground was basic but acceptable, especially since campers had access to the pool which helped justify the price. We just returned and found the property significantly changed, with much of it converted into luxury cabins while the lower loop of campsites remains completely untouched. The check-in experience was positive; the staff member was very friendly and welcoming. That said, the current pricing for campsites is hard to justify based on what is actually provided. Campers no longer have access to the pool, only cabin guests do, which is entirely disappointing. There is no reason why the pool could not be offered to all paying guests. There are no meaningful upgrades to the campsite infrastructure itself. In fact, the sites are increasingly worn down rather than improved. For the price being charged, I would expect at minimum some investment in basic site upkeep--such as replacing warped wooden picnic tables and upgrading old, rusted fire rings. Instead, the campsites are largely unchanged from years ago, while rates have increased. With what they've invested, the campsites need to reflect that as well. But it fell entirely short.

The sites are well cared for, the facilities are clean, and you can tell the owners take pride in keeping everything looking great. We spent our mornings fishing, afternoons at the pool, and evenings roasting marshmallows or sitting by a warm fire. The arcade was a huge hit, especially when we wanted a break from the heat, and the snack shack was perfect for grabbing a quick bite without having to leave the campground. There was always something to do, but it never felt crowded or chaotic. What stood out most was how comfortable and enjoyable the entire experience was. The domes are stunning outside and beautifully…read moreappointed inside, with every little detail somehow already thought of--from a fully stocked spice rack to binoculars and accompanying birdwatching guide to boot. It's all the magic of being out in nature without sacrificing an ounce of comfort. My adorable dome was romantic, peaceful, ridiculously charming, and close enough to New York City to make for the perfect easy escape. This is a wonderfully unique way to take a break from city life and enjoy the outdoors in style ~ I think my highlight was lounging in a hammock on my private deck on Saturday morning, coffee in hand, looking out over the lake and thinking, "I can get used to this!" With gorgeous Catskills scenery, five-star-resort comforts, and just enough wilderness to make you feel adventurous without ever having to suffer for it, I absolutely loved it, cannot recommend it enough, and will 100% be back.

The water pressure is very strong for the shower and faucets, which is great. They do have bikes and kayaks, but you have to pay to rent them, according to the website, so we didn't bother because it's ridiculous that they'd charge you after paying so much per night. You can't drink the faucet water, so they give you 16oz bottles of water, and we stayed three nights and got eight bottles of water. We weren't sure if we'd get charged the $1.50 per bottle that was on the website if we asked for more. Guess you can't drink your recommended amount of daily water. They also have a bunch of creepy statues around that look more satanic than gargoyles like they have on their map. To get to your dome it's a decent walk for most, so they do offer you a ride, but when we checked out, we texted about a ride and never got a response, so we lugged everything up the hill to the car and then when we got there the one guy said you should've text and I would've picked you up. Yeah, we did a half hour ago and you never responded back. They even tell you at check in if you need anything to text them, but they aren't that responsive. We texted two times our whole trip and when we did get a response it was an hour later and the second time we never got a text, which is why we lugged everything up the hill. The domes are nice, the beds are comfortable but the hospitality sucks. The grill is great and there's plenty of seasoning, plates, pots and utensils to get you through your stay.
