Most sites that we could see had a definitive slant to it. Also, the one way roads route you through the permanent residents every time you come into the park. Worth getting over though because the people running the place are extremely friendly and helpful. Our month stay here was very enjoyable. We did not get to use the pool but it looked great. (daughter was sick - then it was raining). The little playground was nice. We would probably stay here again if we thought we could get a flatter site. Everything else was great.

Campsite was clean and quiet…read more The Pocono 400 was scheduled for this weekend, we didn't go, and a forecast of thunderstorms might have kept people away. This place is clean, my girls commented the bathrooms were super clean, the grounds were well manicured. A pool was offered, a mini front office/store, and bingo. You will be assigned a key card to re-enter the grounds, there is a gate at the front with only one road for incoming and outgoing. Owners were very nice. There are a few rules and might sound a little strict but any sensible camper won't have any issues. I can see where the Pocono Speedway could bring in the party people, again I had no issues. We stayed here as were doing Camelback adventures which was conveniently 10 minutes away. 15 min away is a Walmart, CVS. I would stay here again, and cost was reasonable. My site had full hookup.

We stayed in an RV spot (#51) which was perfect. Easy back in and plenty of room to hang out outside of the camper. The majority of the campground is heavily shaded by trees which is exactly what you need during summer months. Not to mention you get the full camping experience here vs other campgrounds that clear the trees to pack in as many spots as possible. Although we were only there for a few days the long term RV campers were very friendly to us which made us feel even more welcome. Also the wifi was perfect the entire time we stayed there. This isn't something to take for granted at a campground so it's worth noting and we are thankful for it! Although tent camping isn't our thing anymore we noticed how awesome the tent sites were. They looked spacious and comfortable so based on what we saw I'd recommend tent camping there as well!

Room was smelling of smoke and dog pee. I asked the owner to change the room but she refused to do it with the reason no available cottage right now. Despite all cottacges around were empty. Then we told her that we have no choice but stay(because didn't want to ruin vacation on first day) but also my wife told her that she will write review about smell. Then she turned to angry bird and switched to mood "karen" mode. She and her husband tried to find justification to kick us out from the campground. And they found it. My 13 years old daughter was in a swimming pool and suddenly she approches to us with aggression like: "your daughters lied to me with saying she is almost 14 when she is actually 13. So she can't be in the swimming pool by herself and for that reason we have to leave. After back on forth police came and told us that the business owner doesn't want you guys on their property so leave. So again, first day and they asked us to leave in middle of the night with two kids(5 and 13). She said going to refund all amount and I didn't argue at the beginning tried to be nice and deescalate the situation but barbara openly said that she doesn't like my wife and will not let her stay here. Wow... she really was a mean to us promised to refund but after packed up she hide behind a closed doors and didn't even want to take the key )) Long story short every bad review about rudeness of these people are true. This business with this behavior's should go out of the business very soon.

On the other hand, because of so much COVID-related isolation, quarantine and fear, it was refreshing to be in a place where that fear was not present. You could hear the laughter and jovial conversations of neighbors as well as children running and playing together. 1 big con for us was that the showers were only open 2 hours in the morning (9-11 AM) and 2 hours in the afternoon (5-7 PM). We wake up early and shower every morning before our 6 AM meditation but since the water was off in the morning we had to resort to "birdie bathing" in the sink. And even then, they did not turn on the water one afternoon and we were there waiting in the bathroom for 30 min until one of us finally told the employees to turn it on. They said that the person on duty must've forgotten...It was 5:30 by then. The limited hours is annoying, I would recommend extending them and also being punctual and responsible with turning the water on so that you don't have a bunch of dirty campers lined up outside of the bathroom to use the shower. Overall, the experience was positive and the environment was relaxing. We enjoyed our stay and it was a worthwhile visit because we had first-time campers with us. That being said, I would probably not visit again. Been there done that.

NYS doesn't have a centralized booking system for campsites like NJ does which makes the, booking, experience so much easier especially for noobs like me. I visited the group camping site at this state park for a large meetup family group camping trip. I passed several solo camp sites down the road leading up to the group camp site and all the sites seemed to be situated nicely along the road side. Working facilities are near the individual camp sites but for the group sites you get the good 'ol fashion out house which I wasn't a fan of but managed to drop it like it's hot as needed right down into the abyss of a hole for the toilet. No showers or working facilities near the group site but you can drive over to one for a hot shower. The best part of this state park is the absolutely awesome astronomy club that has an observatory you can visit and use the super expensive telescopes to see other planets with the guide of an astronomer. The staff at the astronomy club are all eager and delighted to answer questions to all who are curious. Peering through a telescope to see the rings of Saturn is absolutely awesome! If interested the observatory is located within a stones throw from the main park entrance at 333 State Park Road, Great Meadows, NJ 07838. The observatory is free to visit but they do have donation bins there to help support their projects and facility. While this state park doesn't have as many camp sites as other locations I've visited, the astronomy club makes this place an epic visit!

There are music weekends all summer long, Grateful Dead, Phish, Pearl Jam, Alannis and so much more. Only thing that wasn't awesome was the huge heated pool was closed after Labor Day. I'll make sure to hit it in the spring. Family run and lotsa fun. They have camping from tent to large RV and many on site rental options like cabins and yurts.

You have river trips, water falls,rail trails, antiques, etc.) Good prices, good folks.

We purchased our membership several years ago and considered this place our "home away from home."…read more Around six years ago (after Stefanie and Sara left) the place went downhill. So many problems and way too many visits by the police for my liking. We considered selling our membership and moving out. Place was horrible in every area. This year (2016/2017) a new manager took over and he turned this campgound around. Everything is clean, I feel safe again. No more drunk driving on the grounds or midnight drug deals. He managed to make this campground safe for families. He stopped non members from using the facilities and taking over the common areas. They bring in awesome entertainment and actually try to make the weekend enjoyable for families. He has strict rules and some people don't appreciate those rules. In my opinion, maybe those people were part of the problems this campground used to have. We are delighted with the new manager and the outstanding work he has done in such a short time. Most of the staff is friendly and accommodating. Once again, the campground is a home-away-from-home for us. If you tried Scotrun in the past and had a horrible experience, give it another try. I am pretty confident you will like the new campground and the new management. Thank you so much for make Scotrun great again.
