Took my six months golden retriever to do the intermediate boot camp program at Camp Mutt. They offer military discount which was great. We did the private, one on one training sessions with Jerica to learn focus, sit, down, stay, come, loose leash walking leave it, and door manners. Jerica is a great trainer who is very patient and responds to emails quickly. Each training session consisted of 40 minutes talking and 20 minutes of actual training. You need to be consistent and work with your dog at home. If you're looking for a place to actually work with your dog, this is not for you. Camp Mutt trains the owner and not your dog. The only reason I knocked off one star is their training methods doesn't work for every dog. I was told by the owner, my puppy would be walking on a collar by the end of the session. However, that was not the case. They sold me a prong collar for excessive pulling. I was also told they offer socialization in which we never met another puppy at Camp Mutt. I did everything exactly how I was told and my puppy simply did not pick up some skills. I strongly suggest taking your puppy to Ridgeside K9 Carolinas for their $10 socialization puppy classes. This is the moment where my puppy started being more obedient and calm. Ridgeside also worked with my dog and gave me correction advice when leash walking wasn't working at Camp Mutt. My puppy wasn't perfect after all the training which was a little disappointing. He's still very much a work in progress but there's only so much you can learn in a short amount of time. I wish they offered some program for post training support instead of emailing. If given the option to redo training, I'd much rather go to Ridgeside. A suggestion for Camp Mutt is to teach the "place" command during the 40 minutes of talking each session. It's a highly valuable skills that I was surprised it wasn't taught. read more

Kristen and her team are the best! We sent our doberman for puppy board and train and then for recall training when she got a little older. She has been doing really well, she's still a puppy and started to develop a fear of bicycles, after a biker ran into her and knocked her down. After 2 weeks with campmutt, she is able to walk by a bike calmly. We continue to do our "homework " to keep her training successful. I'm beyond grateful for campmutt! They are under new management, so if you ever hear anything negative it was before Kristen took over. We are getting another doberman and will be sending her for training too. read more

I can't say enough about Camp Mutt or how much they have helped our family over the last year. When we adopted Remington H. Puppy, my wife and I were both working and living in a smaller 3rd floor apartment and immediately knew from Remy's personality that crating would NOT be an option. Remy first graduated from basic obedience class at about 4 months old and we immediately noticed a huge difference in his potty training, ability to walk on a leash, all basic commands, and his puppy manners. We continued bringing Remy to Camp Mutt to ensure that he was getting well socialized and had an outlet for his... abundant... puppy energy. Their prices are extremely reasonable and the results are incredible. Most importantly, Camp Mutt has been an incredible friend for our puppy and our family. He can barely wait to get out of the car in the morning to go see his friends and when we pick him up, my wife frequently comes home with diplomas, report cards, or facebook posts featuring Remy that make us laugh (probably more than they should). When Camp Mutt heard that my wife and I were expecting our first son, they immediately offered to help train Remy to walk with a stroller and keep his puppy-guy whits when our little boy comes home. Camp Mutt is so much more than a trainer or a kennel to our family and we appreciate everything that they have done for us. I had an unpleasant experience with camp mutt and their trainers. We had sent our dog to Camp Mutt for the 3 week board and train, upon return there was little to no progression from when we first sent him. They recommended the intermediate training instead of the training in which my dog needed. They lack communication skills which was not only unfair to me but unfair to my dog. I feel we were kind of kicked to the curb with our dog when they wouldn't respond to our questions/concerns. Unfortunately after the training, our dog decided to go after a puppy(which he has never done). We called and emailed Camp Mutt about the situation and there was no response. we decided to show up and they turned us right back around out the door because the trainers were too "busy" to help with this newfound problem. I don't recommend this Board and train because they lack knowledge on how to properly train dogs in situations they'll be put into with their owners. After everything was all said and done the trainers tried to blame us for not doing our "homework" and how to properly handle this situation, all the while we were following the trainer's instructions, there was no progression with the dog and the actions we were trying to resolve. At the end of this unfortunate experience we had to put our dog down all because they poorly trained him and us on how to become better handlers for our dog. read more

This place has gone drastically downhill since the new owner has taken over. I was thinking of bringing my dog here for daycare until I heard the horror stories from my neighbor that the new owner used to work for another training company in town and got fired for animal neglect and too many complaints of her training. I will never bring my dog here and see now that a lot of people have had similar experiences with this place within the past few months after ownership changed. 15% off all training? Camp Mutt staff are truly amazing with our German Sheperd pup who has many behavior issues. Josh, Kandi, and the team are all very knowledgeable, trustworthy, compassionate, and make us feel like family. This team goes above and beyond to help our Xena be the best she can be given her issues. Xena was saved because of Camp Mutt and their abilities to assist with even the worst behavior issues. We started receiving services last year and continue on to this day. Xena absolutely loves attending the doggy daycare now. She can't wait to get out of the car every morning to be with such caring people and play with the other pups. I called and scheduled lessons for my dog, and paid 1/2 the total cost up front. Then I received a call 6 days later, 1 day before the first scheduled lesson, to tell me that no lessons had actually been scheduled and that they do not actually schedule lessons until they get paid, despite what the guy (Josh) told me on the phone, and despite the fact that they had been paid within an hour of my initial call. I received an invoice of my payment within seconds of paying it (1 hour from my initial call), but apparently they did not. Also, they apparently made an error in charging me and wanted more money. They (Kristen) then told me that the original date and time scheduled would be ok, and when I showed up, she told me they couldn't do it and that I would have to come back next week. I can't speak to their dog-training skills since I've decided to go elsewhere, but their basic customer-service, business and communication skills are absolute garbage. If you you decide to give your business to these people, just be forewarned that Josh and Kristen both are abject liars. read more

Hey guys! So I wanted to share my story and how Josh at Camp mutt helped our family so much! So we rescued my Pocket Pitbull in Nov 2015. His back story of what they told us at the humane society was he was apart of a fighting rink and was the bait dog. He was to small to fight but was thrown in the fighting pit the get the other dogs going. He has many scars on his face and suffers from PTSD because of that. Well from being in the Marines I also suffer from PTSD and other things. Well I wanted to make him my service dog so I started training him. It didnt take to long to get him to do what he needed to do because he was very very smart. The only problem we had was him around other dogs especially males. He would be fine and playing and then all the sudden something triggered him and he was in full attack mode. Another thing he would do was he would never allow my 1 year old son near him he would tuck his tail and run from him anytime he got close to him. My son had never hurt him and rarely touched him.. So we went to Camp mutt and told him everything. They knew what they were talking about becuase we signed up that day, when we went in for a free evaluation on him. We started training once a week for about 3 weeks and that was all confidence boosting teaching him new thing and going over old things. I had to learn a lot to about patience and high pitched good boy rewards. I could see a change in him he wanted to learn, he wanted to please me, and his love grew even more for me. And then we started doing training 2 times a week for the next 3 weeks where we focused on his dog on dog interactions. My goal for him wasnt to play with other dogs becuase of him being a service dog. My goal was for him to ignore all other dogs no matter what they did just to keep eyes on me. It was a bumpy road but by weeks 5 it started to click with him and now I can take him into Petsmart with tons of other dogs around and he isnt in the defensive mode or whining or anything. Just focused on me! Also my son can now use him as a jungle gym! They will literally cuddle up in his dog bed together. My son can pull at his ear and face and feet and he just lays there. I love what Josh and the team at Camp Mutt helped me accomplish with my fur baby Rocco! And we also are going to be taking our other pup to them in a couple weeks!
