We went here last night and we weren't very impressed. The restaurant has a really bad set up and everything is all crammed together. The tables near the front are freezing due to the door being opened constantly. The house dressing in fairly sure is just mayonnaise with Italian seasoning, the lettuce was yellow and brown, the service is slow, and the food is mediocre. I ordered chicken parm and my husband got veal parm and they mixed up the orders so I was given veal...YUCK. Not fresh at all! We also got garlic bread which should actually be labeled as buschetta because it's got onions and tomatoes all over it. That part wasn't bad, but I don't think we will be returning. read more

So you'd be surprised that I'm giving 4 stars when I tell you that the parking is terrible, the service was not great, and it's really loud in there, so loud you can't hear each other talk, which is amazing since they're are only about 15 tables in the place. But the food makes up for all of that, it's excellent! I had the chicken Gorgonzola which was delicious, and my husband had the chicken piccata which was also great. So the food made up for the fact that it took 25 minutes to get our drinks! read more

Decent if nothing exciting. One of the few places around that makes a Sicilian style pizza. The dining room is VERY tired and dated... desperately in need of a face lift. You get the sense that this place was once 5 star, but things are gradually sliding in the wrong direction. Service again was "meh". In a town with few "non-chain" dining options, Campanale's could/should be a winner. The bar area suggests that someone here seems to think this place should be competing for biz with the South Side Tavern rather than Spazio or Sintra. Ownership should stop parking their big Ford F-350 out front in one of the only parking spaces in front of the restaurant. Sends a bad message to customers. read more

I was psyched to see a living social deal for here as its been one of the places my husband and I keep saying we will try soon. They have pizza, so he's covered and I like everything else. We made a mistake by going here soon after the living social deal was online. Everyone seemed to have our same idea. Our mistake. Parking was difficult. There was a large lot behind the restaurant that was closed with "no restaurant parking" signs. Actually those same signs seemed to be everywhere. Once parking was secured we ventured in to find a hostess telling us there was a 30-45 minute wait. She seemed unhappy that it didn't deter us and we were put on the list. Off to the bar for a drink. We waited too long for a too expensive, average wine. However once we had our drinks we were called for our table. The wait was hardly 20 minutes. Bonus! But the hostess practically yelled through us to locate our party all while we were standing inches from her, announcing our presence. The bread was fine. Apps were described beautifully, too bad they didn't appear or taste as nice. Entrees were mediocre but a good sized portion at least. We both asked to wrap up our leftovers (my meal was hardly touched) but the server never came back with them. After 3 trips to the table, I think it was safe to say he tossed them instead of saving them. The server was nice and appeared knowledgable, not frazzled, but overall service was very slow and lacked good customer service. Very bummed, I wanted a good local Italian restaurant to frequent. Like Catherine, we bought the Living Social deal and were excited to try a new (to us) place. We had the same parking issue, which was frustrating. We were seated right away, which unfortunately was not an indicator of service to come, as the service was extremely slow. The server was nice enough, but we spent a lot of time waiting for him. He asked if we wanted anything from the bar and we said no, but before we could say "but we'd like some soda and water" he had already turned his back on us! The food itself was ok, but not worth going back for more. The prosciutto in our appetizer was extremely salty, more so than most places, and my entree (the pan-seared scallops with pasta) was ok but nothing special. read more

Campanale's is a frustrating place; it can be truly satisfying on some nights and truly awful on others. The problem is, you never know which version of the restaurant you're going to get from night to night. The last time I went, however, all of the food we ordered was excellent (the chicken panino and the chicken and sausage larossa were both top notch), so I'm hoping that maybe they can get on a roll of sorts and keep their quality consistent. As our group entered this establishment, I was shocked, as I recalled that it had been almost 11 years to the day that I had last been here. At that time, had I been a Yelp member, it would have received 4 stars. WHAT HAPPENED? Of our group of 5, 4 ordered the safe and traditional chicken and/or veal parm. All were somewhat satisfied. I ordered the Seafood Fra Diavolo, which was a disappointment. The small scallops were overcooked to the extent that it took a while to chew before swallowing. The same was true for the shrimp. The mussels were fine albeit small.The same held true for the little necks. The redeeming grace of this meal was the quality of the red sauce; quite flavorful. It would not take much to bring this score up to a 3 or 4, but an honest commitment from management is required here. Perfectly cooked shellfish is slightly undercooked, not overcooked. So many of the restaurants that I've patronized fail to grasp this concept. I'll give it a try here sometime in the future and report back, but for now, I would seek better. read more

I drove by this place for weeks before I walked in. I was jonesing for a Pizza and a Chicken Parm, so I tried them for the first and last time. I spent $35.00 for 2 individual pizzas and a Chicken parm. I do not know how to describe the pizza's other than to say they tasted "wet." They we under cooked and the sauce has no flavor. I am a pizza whore and will even eat frozen pizza (in a pinch) but this pizza was so bad we threw it in the trash after two bites. I was so upset, it is very rare to get an inedible meal from a restaurant. The Chicken parm breading tasted like it was missing the seasoning, but at least it was edible. One other crazy thing, you have to park in the back and walk around the corner on this elevated walkway to get to the front. When I turned, there is a metal door that makes a pounding sound when you walk by. (it must be the other unhappy customers trying to escape) read more

Have been here a few time with my family and am always very happy with the food and service. The waitresses are very friendly and attentive, which is great because my husband probably drank 4 diet cokes in the time we were there! I've had pizza and pasta and always thought it great. Not as good as my Italian Grandma's home made pasta, but on par with other great local italian restaurants. Very happy that they now have a gluten free menu so we will be taking my niece there next weekend! read more

I always enjoy eating at Campanale's. The food and service is consistent in a good way. There is nothing special about the food but it is very good and always satisfying. Just dreadful overall. The dining room, while visibly dirty and outdated, still offers some level of charm. However, the food was really bad. Chicken Piccata...pasta was literally a solid block of mush. Veal Parmesan was pounded thinner than paper and the consistency of shoe leather. Who is this place fooling? It's tiny, dull and feels like grandmas house (The grandma's house your forced to go to. Not the one you actually like going to)! They charge you $18+ a plate. Staff shouldn't be wearing T-shirts and your shouldn't have paper napkins at these prices it's just sleazy. Your forced to sit on top of each other and you waitress has to squeeze around the place to get back to you. Don't worry though when they want to ask you a question about something they will ask you while standing at another table. The food is weak in flavor and poor quality. The presentation is sloppy and your plates will arrive oily and oversized for the table. They don't know their drink wear the table next to us has there soda served in a wine glass.. (fancy? Haha) This was one of the weirdest places I have ever eaten and feels like they are having an identity crisis. Visit campanales restrarant a few times a year. It is "our" place, my wife and I. Never had a bad meal, antipasto is the best, garlic bread, and have had at least half of the items on the menu at some point. And you can't forget the dessert, tiramisu is to die for. the food was pretty decent, although didn't look the best, however one of my friend's chicken parm sandwich was still raw so clearly those must be frozen. The service was pretty bad overall, the waitress needed to be tracked down a few times for appetizers and then for the meal order. Then at the end of the night we had to track her down again to pay. It was a Friday night so they seemed busy and once we mentioned the chicken was still raw she took if off the bill. My friend didn't order more food b/c by the time she came back to check on us everyone had already eaten their meal....I felt so bad :( I most likely wont be going back here.... read more

What a gem on Pearl Street! They have an extensive menu that is cooked fresh, so you may add or omit anything to your liking. The wine list is a great value with a vast selection and we were blown away by the pricing. The service was stellar, warm, and personable. We were there on a Saturday night, so we were serenaded by a lovely lady and her guitar. We are from the Northwest, and the Ducks were playing, so we sat in the bar and Dave graciously turned the big screens onto our game. The Ducks let us down, but Campanale's did not. read more

Love this place! Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my sister. It was sunny and hot outside cool and dark inside. I got a melon flavored martini that was heaven in a glass! We got the fried calamari - excellent only problem was the calamari was a bit small other than that no complaints. We both got veal piccata. It was wonderful not only that but for 10.00 we got a very good portion! I was expecting two tiny little pieces of veal but we each got four medium sized medallions and they were soft and tender. The sauce was great a bit thicker than what I've seen in other places but the taste was great! I got pasta with red sauce on the side - good red sauce- close to grandma's but not quite. Our server was the nicest guy very friendly and the desserts were incredible. I am not saying this place is better than the restaurants in the North End because it's not but the food is exceptionally good and you just can't beat the price - I've paid more other places for food that was smaller portions and not half as good. I will be going back you can bet on that! Need to update review. I went here again recently and for some stupid reason they took their veal entree's off the lunch menu! I asked why and was told they didn't get enough orders for it however if I really wanted veal the chef would make if for me. Well.....I REALLY wanted the veal and it was good but it was a little more costly that it has been in the past. Still good quality veal!!! read more

A decent little Italian restaurant. We ordered the calamari to start off which was pretty good, but not the best calamari. On the menu, you can create your own pasta dish. I chose angel hair with Alfredo sauce and shrimp. The waitress brought out pasta with chicken by mistake, but got me the correct order after several minutes. It wasn't a big deal, but I'm not a fan of chicken which is why I ordered shrimp. Anyways, the pasta dish was okay...tasted like simple angel hair and Alfredo I could make in 10 minutes at home. We came on a slow Thursday night, but had to wait about 15 minutes for the calamari then at least another 20 minutes for our entrees. It shouldn't have taken that long especially on a slow night. read more

We were seated and the waitress came and gave us water and bread and said she would give us time to review the menu. 20 minutes later we still had not seen the waitress. Love this restaurant! The food is great! The owners are wonderful and staff so nice. This is a great spot for a private event also. We have had numerous family events there such as Family Holiday parties, First Communions, etc. They also do a wonderful job on bereavement luncheons. read more

Family owned restaurant. We visited yesterday a little after lunch time and had a wonderful meal. Party of 5 and everyone had a wonderful meal. We had the lasagne, two of us had the tortellini Felicia, Clams Bianco, Veal Pizziola. Everyone raved about their dishes. I can tell you the tortellini was in a rich smooth creamy sauce with mushrooms and roasted red peppers. OMG I think I've died and gone to heaven. I made a reservation earlier this week and they made it very easy for a party of 11 on a Friday night. The food was delicious and huge portions! Something for everyone on the menu. The service was amazing. So professional and wonderful with a large group. Wanted to pick a place that would be easy to make all family members comfortable and it exceeded all expectations. We had the opportunity to host a babyshower at Campanale's and it was an awesome experience. Deana and her staff were extremely helpful, they even assisted in set up of the place to ensure we were ready to go for guests arrival. Deana the Events Manager was very accessible in answering questions, obtaining measurements for decorations, pictures, etc. The food was delicious! I'm not a huge fan of Italian food but this location for events and food was great! In the end, it turned into my partner proposing which Deana and staff were completely on board and assisted in clearing the way for the proposal moment!
