I was Mass born and raised but relocated to Maine a few years ago. As much as I love my adopted state, they struggle with pizza and Chinese food. They REALLY struggle. I'd driven by no less than 100 times in my life without stopping, only because I already had my regular pizza choices. Upon recommendation from my Aunt, I ordered the pizza one day. I've got to tell you that the pizza here is absolutely fantastic!! These guys use the good pepperoni that makes little cups of grease that is ridiculously delicious. You can blot a little if you're feeling health conscious. Great crust, fresh vegetables for toppings as well. The folks who operate this place are genuine hard working people, who've been very pleasant every time I've been there. One of my first food experiences after moving to Boston -- I ended up here after getting lost finding the "RMV" (the DMV of Massachusetts). Actually, I got lost 3 times, even though I had an iPhone/GPS -- wtf? So I basically stress-ate here at Richardi's. But that said, what a great place to do so; the pastrami with pickles and mustard was excellent. Just what I needed to keep going. I also loved how I genuinely could not understand the very nice lady who worked there. She said "mozzah?" and I really didn't know what that meant -- after asking her to repeat 2x, I finally just said "yes!" thinking it was mozzarella (kind of bizarre on a pastrami, but hey, roll with the local punches, right?). Wow. Ordered for the FIRST time today! Ordered at 7:10 got a call at 8:02 that they couldn't find my address. When they finally got to my door (at 8:27) they gave us attitude because they couldn't read the number on the ticket. THEN after all this they forgot our lg sub, charged us for it, and when we called back no one answered. What f*** shady and unprofessional way to handle business. Dirty, rude staff, and gross food pretty much sums this place up. Placed my order over the phone and the girl on the other end sounded like she just didn't want to be there. Showed up and the inside of this place is gross. Looks like it's never been cleaned. She handed me my food then proceeded to give me change back with the same gloves on. The French fries are pretty much a worse version of McDonald's French fries. The steak and cheese was just a piece of roast beef fried on the grill and tossed into a sub. It was tough as can be and I gave up after two bites. I could have gone to Shaws bought the cheapest roast beef there was and turned it into rubber myself at home. I don't like posting negative reviews, especially on local Mom and Pop places such as Richardi's. I've lived in Braintree for 23 years, and probably been to this sub shop 100 or so times. The last time I was there, I ordered an Italian sub, toasted, no pickles, no hots. 5 minutes later, the kid at the counter realizes that he burnt it. Ok - mulligan. Get the new one finally - no veggies at all on it. Have to ask for, how about some onions and tomatoes - pretty standard for an Italian sub, right? Pretty disappointed. Today, in the neighborhood and in the mood for an Italian, I give them another shot. And doesn't the same kid, once again - BURN my sub. I even say, please don't burn my sub again. The owner (I assume) comes over, opens the oven and says, 'yep, he burnt it. He probably burns 25 subs a week.' So he starts making me a new one. Again. That finally comes out - once again handed to me, like they're doing me a favor, and once again, with NO veggies. An Italian sub, is not an especially complicated order. And the place was not at all busy. You might think, that it being clear that this was the 2nd time they had burnt my sub, the owner would have said 'This one is on the house' or at least 'we're so sorry.' But nope. Nothing. Which goes to the attitude of the place. Again, I've been in Richardis many, many times over the years. They basically make a good sandwich. Good French fries, etc. But never ONCE have I been greeted at the counter with anything but 'Next!' Never a smile, or a 'nice to see you.' For me - it's now, Next. There are other places in town (hello Rosie's) with as good or better subs, and are so much nicer to deal with. read more

Without a doubt, the best Sub shop on the South Shore. Subs like we used to get as kids with real italian bread, great fresh meats and the tomatoes, onions and pickles cubed like they are supposed to be. Also, the best Chicken Caesar salad you will probably ever have. read more

I remember going to Richardi's in the 70's when I was in high school. My mom and I stopped in this past week to split a large sub. The staff was friendly and they were all wearing gloves. As I waited for my turn to order, I observed. The staff handled dirty money, debit cards. One young lady came out from behind the counter and wiped down some tables with her gloves on! I watched her gather a pile of crumbs. She scooped them with her gloved hand, off of the table and into her other gloved hand to throw away. She then went back behind the counter and asked the next customer what they wanted. She picked up the pre cut sub roll opened it, and pushed it open with the palm of her dirty gloved hand! I walked out! Yuck!!! What was surprising is that, this didn't seem to bother customers. Suggestion...Maybe there should be a designated person cashing people out. read more

Many years ago I used to eat from here a lot because we did delivery at work. Then one day I went inside and was disgusted to see that they wear gloves to make sandwiches then don't take them off to handle money then turn around and make another sandwich. I turned around and walked out. Do they not understand the purpose of gloves? It's to keep filthy hands away from food, this includes filthy money. Today I decided to go in because it was convenient and it's been a while but I saw the same thing. Prices are low, food is made fast, quality is good, and the waitstaff is great. Portions are huge (salads and subs are massive) and tasty. I love this place. Cash only, always a red flag for me. In this case I should have trusted my instincts. Tried this place for lunch. Appears to be family run, which is typical. Not the friendliest service, again not a surprise for this area. Here's my issue: Ordered a greek wrap - listed as $5.50 on the menu. Grabbed a bottled drink from the cooler, total came to 8.75?? Either funny math going on or they charge $3 for a coke. Also, no chicken in the wrap - just lettuce, feta, tomato, and some boring bottled "greek" dressing. Awful. Overpriced. Will not return. Wrap was falling apart, couldn't be bothered to correctly wrap $.35 worth of vegetables while they gouge you at $8. Unrelated commentary - Far too many bad sub and pizza shops around this area! I had a grilled chicken sub here. I don't eat much other meat, mostly chicken and I've probably eaten 1000 grilled chicken subs in my life. This was literally the worst one I've ever had. the chicken was overcooked, dried out, and I couldn't get through my first bite. I had my girlfriend bring it to me at work, and if I wasn't stuck at work I would've gone back and thrown it at them. Let me be clear, I like alot of the local shops here, Double GG, braintree house, I mean, I'd rather have had a generic Subway franchise fake meat sub than this sub. etc.... Called for delivery and it took over an hour and a half to arrive. The place is 15 min. away! Flavor of the pizza was decent but was undercooked and very chewy/soggy/limp. Luke warm. Thin crust pizza should be at least semi-crispy. Buffalo chicken chewy, fatty, and room temp. The new menu brags that they were voted best pizza 4 years ago.
