We had the opportunity to host a babyshower at Campanale's and it was an awesome experience. Deana and her staff were extremely helpful, they even assisted in set up of the place to ensure we were ready to go for guests arrival. Deana the Events Manager was very accessible in answering questions, obtaining measurements for decorations, pictures, etc. The food was delicious! I'm not a huge fan of Italian food but this location for events and food was great! In the end, it turned into my partner proposing which Deana and staff were completely on board and assisted in clearing the way for the proposal moment! Just got home....should have stayed here. We haven't been to Campanele's for a long time....and it will be much longer if we ever return. The Sauce described with the Saltimboca and the Marsala sounded pretty good - both served with Penne Pasta. It was disappointing to see the dishes arrive and the Penne Pasta served on the side in a Tomato Sauce..... Not at all what we expected. The 'Service' matched the food. We eat here on occasion. The food is always satisfying with very generous portions. The restaurant is reasonably priced. We ate in the bar recently and my husband tried the Sicilian pizza and it's the best pizza he's ever had. The help is pleasant and not overbearing. A friend & I went there for a late lunch. It's definitely better than it ever was. (Hadn't been there in years) Service was excellent. Food was so delicious. I have gotten used to dwindling portion sizes at many restaurants as well as escalating prices. There was plenty of choices on the menu and everything we had from appetizer to dessert could not have been better. And we both brought home lots of food for later. Food was expensive and only fair! I had the veal parm - wasn't great and for $18.00 I expected better. I was so disappointed I only ate half and didn't want to take the rest home. My wife had a $9.95 special, sausage with penne, that contained large pieces of barely cooked onion and green pepper. The mushrooms were apparently canned. The waitstaff was very good and the dining room clean and pleasant, but don't order the garlic bread unless you like tomatoes and cucumbers (surprise!) on top. Went for my birthday with my Italian-side relatives, especially Mamma Mia, the feel is VERY Italian, enjoyed the atmosphere and chatting with the owners, my Mom finished her entire pasta dish, which was HUGE, and which she never does (and she is tiny), and she still raves about it (her mom, my grandmother, used to make her own pasta and every thing else, so Mom is a snob about Italian food, and wants to go back!). I don't usually write reviews unless the experience is extremely bad or supa amazing! This was definitely not amazing! Like others, we too went in cuz we had a Living Social deal. The deal's expiration was on Sunday and since we waited too long to use the deal and did not know they were closed on Sundays, we called them and asked if we could use the deal next day. They refused and though many other places take a day into consideration, I can't blame Campanale for my mistake. So we went in to use the $15 we paid for the deal. The frustration began with parking (of course!). Since we couldn't find a spot, I thought i'll ask the staff if there is some other place we could park. I stood there for 8 good minutes. Waitresses passed by but none cared to have a minute to see i exist! I went back thinking we'd figure out the parking on our own. When we returned after parking, we waited another 10 minutes and then were seated by an elderly lady who I believe was the owner. Though our pizza was okay the service was lame! Wait..wait n wait...! By the end of our meal I was so frustrated that I did NOT tip the rude, lazy waitress cuz she did not deserve it! (I usually pay tips in $5 or $10 bills cuz i understand they work all day long and deserve it). To top it all, the audacious waitress follows us out to tell us that we did not tip her and forgot our Quarter. I wanted to shout "Lady, Tip is a gift or a sum of money tendered for a service performed or anticipated. Using what lens would you tip someone like yourself??!" But I dint wanna create a scene and so we just left! read more

My wife and I have been coming here a couple times a year off and on for 10 -15 years? I have got to agree with the others that it now seems to be a hit or miss on the meals. I do remember for a long time the meals and service were great. Not so much now. The decor is old and tired, and if you saw the place in daylight you would realize how much it needs to be cleaned. This is one of the best values on the South shore. The food is fresh, tasty with generous portions. The cocktails are also very good. The service is excellent. There is plenty of street parking even though the lot is closed because the restaurant doesn't own the property. If you want a good bang for your buck try them for lunch. So not the environment we thought, we got all dressed up expecting to be at a somewhat fancy place. The place is very casual, great to know now that we can come here on those days we don't feel like dressing up and want to go out to dinner. I've been to this restaurant many times and it's usually pretty good. But this evening my daughter and I came in and our server was ditzy. Couldn't remember things, had disappearing acts. I got the veal marsala and it was lovely. My daughter got the chicken marsala and it was not good. Edible but not good, no flavor. We did not finish our meals and took it home. She gave us our bags and told us which was which. Any way, I went to have my lunch the next day and guess what - I had my daughter's dinner! I was upset. (We live in different cities). Just had dinner at Campanale's and ordered the pork tenderloin special. When it arrived it was VERY overcooked. I tried a piece and, predictably, it was VERY tough from being overdone. When I mentioned it to the waitress and showed her how brown it was in the middle and said there should at least be some pink, she proceeded to argue with me that pork should NOT be pink, certainly not in any restaurant. As anyone who has had pork tenderloin at any kind of good restaurant it most certainly can - and should be - at least a little pink in the center. I understand that things can go wrong but I wouldn't expect an argument that pork MUST be served well done. read more

This evening myself and 8 others went out to eat at Campanale's. This was not our first time at the restaurant. Food is usually pretty good there. Unfortunately due to the choice of the restaurant owner to utilize handwritten bills, there was a lot of unnecessary confusion. Most of the bill was illegible. There was a significant variance in what people thought they owed and what was actually on the bill. The server who was very nice and provided good customer service took the bill back to recheck and provide separate bills. The hostess who we believe is owner comes over and says "are you all set. I need my table." When she came over we were still waiting for the server to return. I was surprised to see such poor customer service. No apology or concern for our time being wasted. The issue with the bill was a direct result of poor handwriting and inaccuracy. We will not be back. read more

I went to Campanale's for years, the food was great, the portion sizes large and the prices were very good as well, not the case anymore. I couldn't beleive how the quality went down as the prices went up (double for many selections. We enjoyed our meal this evening at Campanale's until the check came. We were using a Restaurant.com gift certificate but noticed that the waiter had added both the tax and an 18% tip BEFORE deducting the value of the gift certificate which was $25.00. There were three different totals circled on the bill making it confusing to determine what the cost of the food was. We also could have missed the fact that the tip was already added. Under Terms and Conditions Restaurant.com certificates clearly state that the value of the certificate is not to be used for taxes and tips. We decided not to take issue at the restaurant but on returning home called and related our experience and was told that it is their policy to add tax and tip and then deduct the value of the certificate. The hostess I spoke with stated she knew the conditions stated on the certificate but they stood by their policy at Campanale's. I have emailed Restaurant.com regarding the incident. read more

There is NO parking lot. Maybe there might be on street parking. Maybe there might be parking in the public lot. No one seems to know anything. The service isn't wonderful. The waitress came to the table 4 times before taking our order No one offered a second cup of coffee.. We waited a long time for our check. The place didn't seem busy. The decor is old. This was a favorite restaurant of mine as a kid. Even had a good experience a year or two ago meeting up with college pals. This last visit was definitely my last. We got there at 6pm and werent done until 9:30. We had to ask for water refills, ask for our food to be cleared after it sitting in front of us for almost an hour, ask for another bottle of wine after sitting with empty glasses for way too long. This waitress was definitely not looking to make money-she could have sold us more if she tried! She never even offered dessert which we might have had if it wasnt so late. We had to ask for our check. Everything took forever. A neighboring table got up and filled their own water glasses! The food was okay but garlic bread with cheese was more like toast with chopped onions, cucumbers and barely ripened tomatoes on top. A major waste of calories. Two of us went there for dinner last night. We had a coupon type deal, which I unfortunately informed the server of as we ordered. We both had a side caesar salad which was good. I had the lasagna, my significant other had the chicken parmigiana. The chicken dish came with approximately one cup of cooked penne. I enjoyed the lasagna, which was tasty. We each had a diet coke, which arrived in very small glasses. During our meals, the server asked if we wanted another diet coke, we did. After our meal, we shared a dessert and each had a regular coffee. When the bill arrived we were shocked. Twenty seven dollars for beverages!!??!! Outrageous. There was also a charge that looked like it was increased from 9 to 11. My significant other didn't want to question it, instead wanted out. I wish I had not listened. Even with the coupon type deal the cost of what we actually got was absolutely ridiculous for what it was. As my significant other stated, we will never return. read more

On a recent visit to this establishment with my family, the experience was not good at all. I ordered the Chicken, Broccoli, and Ziti. As I proceeded to eat, I noticed my chicken to be very soft. I cut it open and found that it wasn't cooked at all. In fact, RAW. The waitress hadn't returned to our table until after everyone else was close to finished. She apologized and asked if I wanted a new plate of food to go, which I was reluctant on taking, but did so because there wasn't even a mention of removing the dish from the bill. I don't go into restaurants to get free meals nor do I go for any discounts. I do expect to get refunded for a terrible meal and to either have a manager or the chef come out to apologize, but that never happened. We were offered a complimentary slice is carrot cake. Never once were we offered refills on our drinks nor did she ever come over and ask how our food was. I will not go back nor will I recommend this place. Very poor service. read more
