Camping World always gets a bad rap. Yes. They are HIGH-PRESSURE salespeople. Just like car dealers, window salespeople, boat reps, or any business that utilizes a commission form of salary. If you haven't figured this out by now when shopping for high dollar items, then you haven't been out there shopping enough. For the record. I HATE salespeople. I walked into this dealer with a chip on my shoulder from the get-go. We knew exactly what camper we wanted, and we just wanted to see it. Our luck of the draw was Johnny Brooks. And Johnny and I did not see eye to eye for sure. In fact, I was sure I hated him after just a few minutes, that I left my husband to deal with him, I wanted nothing to do with it. But you know what? I got over it. Johnny is a good guy and in the end, we bought our camper, and he's been great! He took excellent care of us. Go Johnny! There are bad RV dealers across this whole country, and I think if more people that had good experiences posted instead of only the upset angry ones, people might find out that no one company has a monopoly on good or bad service. Yes, there are some smaller mom and pop dealers that could have 5-star reviews, but sometimes smaller dealers are inaccessible to the masses. And if anyone has paid attention to the GROWTH of the RV industry over the past 5 years, you'd realize the there have been hundreds of thousands of RV sold. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS!! In fact, growth is so explosive that year to date for Towable Travel Trailers alone in 2017 is over 290,000 sold! Are you reading that??? That is from January to August 2017. Even with some of the financing changes it was all in all a positive experience and I'm truly happy I didn't judge this place by the reviews on Yelp. I am only giving this a 2 star because our sales rep was absolutely amazing. We had two sales representatives working with us. One was newer and one was to make sure she did everything correctly which I did not mind at all! The issue I'm having with camping world (this one in particular) is that they told us we were approved for the trailer we were looking at. They told us the monthly prince and who we were approved with. We made a deal that we wanted to see the trailer hooked up to make sure the lights and utilities worked before we took the trailer off the lot. They agreed and we signed paperwork. Tell me why 2 days later we get a call saying we need a co-signer and that we weren't approved? I told them there must be Miss communication happening because we were approved. We waited to hear back. We didnt hear anything so we figured no news is good news! The day we agreed to see the trailer hooked up, our friends came down with their truck because I figured there wouldn't be an issue and we could use their truck to tow it back to the house. We were then informed that we were still waiting to be approved and that our monthly payments went down because our credit was better than we told them! I started to get nervous because we already signed papers. To make it worse, the trailer was not hooked up. And we would have to wait additional time for it to be hooked up! We decided to go get something to eat and while we were eating we were told we were not approved. This is absolutely insane to be going back and forth with customers who already signed paperwork and had an agreed upon date to see the trailer. We already agreed how much to put down, and what our payment would be and who we were financing with. This is awful business practices read more

Bought a 2022 Heartland Bighorn. Got the Elite Good Sam Insurance. 8 days after use the fridge dies. Husband spent all day talking to CW in TN and Utah. I called Good Sam and for the $7000 we paid they only cover batteries, jumps and fuel. WOW so worth it. CW salesman told us if you rip the carpet or fridge goes out don't worry. We will come to you and fix or replace. Nope. Fridge died and they don't have mobile techs in Salt Lake City or anywhere near. Good Sam will tow it to repair but won't reimburse for hotel. Oh, and WE have to pay for all repairs. We also called maker of fridge (Best Buy). They told us we aren't original purchaser. Heartland is. Called Heartland. He said have to call local Heartland Dealer. Went to Provo and Draper. They can't help either. Had to go and buy a new fridge ourselves. Bet if we ruin something on camper Good Sam will say we voided warranty so they won't fix that either. Never again. We have 1000 people going to work this job and all need campers. I WILL be out there telling them not to buy from CW. read more

Took my travel trailer in for AC maintenance. Listed price for Good Sam members is $124.99. I also asked to have both propane tanks refilled. When I went to pick it up, they did NOT perform the maintenance requested, only plugged it up and let it run and charged me $139.99 for that "hour" of inspection and did NOT refill the tanks! Their attitude was that I should be satisfied they even bothered to look at it. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE unless there is no other alternative!!!!!!!!! read more

This is ABSOLUTELY the worst business I have ever seen. We actually bought an RV from them earlier this year and were extremely unimpressed with the buying process. We have since been very disappointed in the customer service experience as well. For starters, they lie, try to pull the wool over your eyes and aren't fully forthcoming during the buying process about costs. If you do purchase, I hope you already know everything you need to know about RVs because they sure don't! The walkthrough was weak, and done by someone who doesn't own and RV and probably wasn't even old enough to rent a car! Just expect to learn from YouTube, Owners Manual or experience. Then when you complete the sale, expect to spend a lot more money when they walk you through the store! Since then, trying to actually get an answer to a question, good luck reaching anyone. You can call over and over and you will go to voicemail. But they wont call back. You can even send an email with a response that "I will get back to you TODAY"...crickets. They earned a 0 today and I have already called corporate. Worst customer service from the salesman Chris. We went today I'm hoping of leaving w/ a new RV. Chris introduced himself to my husband and my grandfather w/ a handshake....NOT ME, NO acknowledgement at all even thou I was standing next to them. As we walked out to the golf cart he asked them if they wanted a water...NOT ME! Got on the golf cart and out to the rv, opened the door for those 2 and walked in...NOT ME! So I looked around the outside and saw a lot of shotty work w/ bubbling under the paint, stickers, and caulking. Not until my husband made mention to him that I pointed it out, then Chris went on a long explanation of how it was an easy fix and that they can replace the stickers but would probably bubble up again but said don't worry about that "my shop can just take the stickers off completely". Well Chris if I wanted a New RV or a Used for $80k cash. I would expect I wouldn't have to do that. Or atleast be discounted for the imperfections. We go in to crunch numbers BEFORE looking into credit. Never asked me if I was going to fill out an application so I didn't. I had the highest of all Credit & Salary...but he never asked me, I was going to pay cash for the entirety today. Instead he asked for $1000 credit just to run the numbers, not including credit. No, Never do that! They claim you will get it back but credit cards hold for a certain amount of time. He ran the numbers, came back and tossed paperwork on the table, did show us or sit it down, threw it on the table and started talking numbers. My husband slid the paperwork to write a correction. Which Chris later claimed my husband "snatched" the paper out of his hand which was a lie, and Chris decided yelling and raising his voice at ME! Would be old you can imagine my husbands reaction to that. Again through the process never asked for any of my input or opinion. Chris returned to the table w/ those tossed papers and stated "well, you won't be getting anything for $0 down with that credit" Excuse me!?! They then claimed that a 730 credit is a subprime score and that since RVS are considered Luxury the standards of credit scores are different. Then got mad yelling and stormed off to the office like a child. Not sure how they do things here but when you buy a Luxury Sport Tahoe there is no difference in scores as if you were to buy a 2013 Honda Civic. Don't trust this place. Talked with the manager and the only apology we got was for not buying an RV. And still even the manager didn't acknowledge or attempt to shake my hand but attempted to shake my husbands hand, which was even more awkward because the manager talked to Chris before coming out and so then the manager was cherry like nothing just happened. No apology for being rude to me. RUDE AND EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL ALL AROUND. You will find better deals shopping more local and not w/ a large corporate store. And of course be ready to read a reply debunking everything. Remember! In the few 1st seconds of introduction sets the mood for the whole negotiations....maybe he should do some more professional manners training. read more

Visited this location a few weeks ago to browse their selections of towables. From the highway it looks like the have a great lot and tons of RV's. We entered and filled in a visitor form and the roamed the VERY disorganized lot. Not 1 of the campers had and detail sheets or price sheets anywhere to be found. The lot was just a mishmosh of straggler campers not grouped in any form or fashion. Very disappointing. Not sure after that that I would return when I am ready to purchase. read more

Worst company we ever dealt with. Went with mother in law who bought a 30k dollar rv. Didnt buy their extended warranty. As soon as we told them no everything changed. They were so mad we didnt when the deal was done they just threw a folder with the paperwork on the table , said nothing and walked away. We didnt know where the rv was how we take delivery. Had to find someone to figure what was actually going on with it. If your that mad we didnt buy something it was clearly the smart deal not to. read more

We bought a camper in March of 2023, our salesman Ricky was the best part of the experience, pretty much the only good part. Upon looking at the camper we went back and forth from the camper to the office, and when I wanted to look at it one more time, the unit had already been unpluged and I was told it would take several hours to hook back up due to them being so busy. I was assured that everything was in working order, they had to order another mattress for the camper, they did not have the correct size for it, which was no big deal. When we got the camper home the brakes smelled hot and the rims where to hot to touch. Come to find out, the had installed the wrong wiring harness on the truck causing the brakes on the camper to drag and get hot. So I went and bought the correct harness from a local camper place and installed myself which they did reimburse me for. After that I found out the the water pump did not work, it took two tries for them to send me the correct replacement which should have be working when we bought the unit. I also had to install this myself. After all of this, four months later, I still have not received my paperwork to get the title and tags done, I have contacted them many times and the blame the third part company that does that for them. Long and short of it is, If I were you, I would think strongly about going some where else to purchase your camper. read more

All I wanted was new tires and an inspection of my travel trailer. When I picked the trailer up it was raining and that night I had leaking around the air conditioner, the floor near the entry was spongy, I have siding where the awning is attached coming off and the gray water leaking out. The gray water valve would not close and the water tank outlet cap leaked, thank goodness it wasn't the black water. We did not have all these problems going in, but did have them going out. read more

We just purchased a travel trailer from them and while they were selling us that trailer they was so attentive, everything made simple and fell into place but let something happen and you can't get a hold of anyone or get anything from them. The day we were to pick up our trailer they put on our hub caps and did some hitch work. we only live 60 miles away and by the time we got home one was gone. So i called down there and told them how upset i was that it wasn't put on right and expected them to replace it. First of all no one who call me back then they had to ask their boss, then they would send one for 15 dollars then when i said no to that they said ok we will send you one for free. well after 2 weeks have not received anything and again no one will return my calls. Camping World of Chattanooga gave us amazing service. We bought a fifth-wheel camper and everyone that we had contact with was super helpful. Lydia was our salesperson and she answered all of our questions and was very patient with us because we couldn't decide which camper we wanted. The finance department offered us a loan that we were happy with and the service dept. walked us through the camper and showed us how everything works and how to hook the camper to our truck. We foolishly allowed ourselves to become victim of Camping World's high pressure, rude and dishonest tactics. We purchased a low mileage, 2014 Winnebago in 2017, and it has been a nightmare since. We've spent over $8,000, and are still finding problems. It was raining when we took delivery, so the employee sent to instruct us on the 'many' luxury features did not engage the automatic levelers. To our dismay, the levelers NEVER WORKED, according to an expert with integrity; a trait not present in any of Camping World's minions. Do not waste your time and money at this place. I went to Camping World to look for a used camper. I walked in and was greeted by a saleswoman. She grabbed a sheet of paper that she wanted all my information like my phone number, email, and even my home address. All this to just see if they had any campers that need to meet my criteria. I told the sales person I don't want to fill out any forms just to see what they have in stock. She told me is was for a drawing for $1,000. I told her I don't want to give any information and I'm not interested in winning $1,000. This is a scam to get any information so they can call, email, send me flyers. As I was talking to the sales person saying that people don't want to give them this information because we know exactly what it will be used for. She agreed. Just behind us was another employee (name tag says he was the finance person). He was listening to our personal conversation. I thought that was very unprofessional. I asked him why he was listing to our conversation and he said he wanted to make sure that I was taken care of. He told me the reason why they need all this personal information was to help me find the perfect camper and to make sure they had most of my information just in case I purchase a camper. I told him that didn't make sense and he kept on trying to explain this non-sense. I got upset and told him he was an idiot for telling me that. He got mad. I then told the salesperson lets go see what you have that fits the two things that I was looking for. We got into a cart and she showed me campers that did not meet any of the two things I needed. I left and went to 4 other camping places and was treated very well. None of them wanted my information to just look. I went to Northgate RV's and Dunlap RV's and they were great. Stay far away from Camping World. They treat you like your buying a car. They have people that sit behind a glass partition and they make the calls. Just like auto dealerships. read more

I have had warranty work performed several times at Camping World of Chattanooga. Each time Jessica Ervin was my Service Rep. She was always friendly, efficient & helpful. I appreciated the frequent detailed updates on the progress of my work. In 1 instance C.W. had my RV for warranty work for 2 mths with a promised delivery date. On the promised date my RV had not even been assessed for work/parts needed. Jessica was aware that I had a planned & paid for camping trip cross country that was now in jeopardy. Working through her Manager she had the parts delivered in 2 days, work completed in 1 day. Thanks to Jessica's efforts & dedication to her customers I left for the vacation of my life only 1 day late!! I continue to return to C.W. of Chattanooga because of Jessica. This is the worst camper dealer I've ever visited. They insist on taking you around instead of just leaving you alone. You can't drive their golf carts, and we had too many people to fit in one, so we had to walk with young children in the heat and humidity. What a joy that was! They steer you toward the ones they think you'd like instead of just letting us decide. When we finally got into the cool indoors again, the tried the HARD sell. The guy said " let me go get my business card" even though we told him several times we weren't buying today. Then instead of the guy coming out, he sent his BOSS. What a joke. Another hard sell and we were polite and kept telling him that we weren't buying today. He kept pushing and asking what it would take to get us into the camper. Way too pushy!! Plus what they charge to fill the propane tanks and "walk-through instructions" and hitch is more than other places that don't push themselves on you. Save yourself and go anywhere else!! read more

We sent out camper to Camping World of Chattanooga for repairs to the side of the camper. It had fire damage. We had to wait 4 months to get it back. It took too long in our opinion. Then when we picked the camper up no one completed a walk through with us. Also during the walk through that we did alone, we noticed they did not clean up after themselves. We were told that the camper would be clean and washed, but neither was done. We will not be repeat customers. read more

I was looking to purchase a used travel trailer and was showed 3 that the salesperson said I could qualify to finance. They showed me what my payment would be had me sign papers and told me to bring back my proof of income. Upon returning with my proof of income I was told They would submit it and let me know. Now I had put down $300 because my impression was I already had the financing approved. Imagine how disappointed I was to get a call saying I had been turned down. I had been led from the beginning to believe the financing was a done deal. These people get your hopes up just to smash them. read more

First of all I purchased the RV online with home delivery.....don't do this! Go and see what you are getting. The sales team will send pics and videos but you can't see the nicks or any other problems. When mine was delivered it had a gash in the kitchen floor that I couldn't see in the video so buying online is a stupid idea. In addition one of the pieces of trim around the living room window was broken and sticking out. When I received the RV, one of the first things I did after hooking up the power was to open the slide out. It didn't open. Imagine trying to move around in the living/kitchen area with the slide out in....you can't move in there. It was a nightmare. I figured it was a blown fuse but because of the poor design, you can't get to the fuse box when the slide out is in. Camping World Myrtle Beach was good about coming the next morning, but it was horrible trying to live in the RV while the slide was in. One other problem is that you don't get a manual. You get info on how to get an online manual but nothing I saw is specific to my RV..it was all very non specific or general. I was trying to find info on how to manually open the slide but everything was very general and I never found anything on how to manually open my slide out. Overall it was a bad experience but mostly my fault for not getting off my ass and going to see what I was getting. I realize now that there are some things that can't be done online. I am also pissed about the negative comments the CEO of Camping World said about Trump supporters. If I had known this before, I would not have purchased anything from Camping World. read more

One of the worst RV dealerships to purchase an RV from. We purchased our first camper here a few years ago and we took some friends there today to look at campers they were trying to choose between. They flat out refused to allow us to look at campers without a salesman there. I initially told him we wanted to just look and we would come get him if we had questions. 5 mins later here he comes. He followed us through two campers and while we where trying to discuss with the other couple what the pros/cons were about a certain camper he kept asking stupid questions that had nothing to do with what we were talking about. I again asked him politely to leave us alone. He flat out refused and blocked the door to the camper and would not allow us to leave. I finally told him to move so we could get out the door and he said "oh would you guys like to leave"? I finally asked him point blank if he was refusing to leave us alone and he said "yes". I then went and spoke to his manager. His manager not only condoned the behavior but told me it was their "policy" to follow everyone around. He stated that it was for safety purposes in case someone were to be injured on the property. What a crock of "$hit. My wife then leaves to go to the restroom and I asked the manager if they were going to follow her in there "for safety purposes". :) Just wanted to get this out there that if you want to look at campers and make your own decisions on your likes/dislikes they will not allow it there. They would much rather harass you in hopes that you don't have the back bone to stand up to their high pressure BS. I hope their "policies" make them $ because i will never spend cash there. read more

I regret ever hearing of this place. We bought an "as is" camper and expected it would need some attention, but this one was horrible. First of all, there is water damage all over the camper that wasn't viewable with just a walk-through. The worst of it was in one of the pop-out tent beds--the entire floor of the bed was rotted completely out. This was not mentioned in the ad nor did the salesman mention it when my husband picked the camper up. There is no way they didn't know about the damage. I always expect to have to clean a used camper, but this was beyond the pale. It was completely infested with roaches. It took four bug bombs and a complete spraying before we finally got them all, now I'm spending hours and hours scrubbing and sanitizing every surface of the place. In response to our complaints and photos of the damage, they offered us a $500 gift certificate--to THEIR camping world. Terrible, unethical service. They should be ashamed that they let a camper in this condition ever leave their lot without disclosing the damages. read more

I will write this review by repeating an e-mail I sent to Camping World on 5/16/2019. Which by the way has so far been ignored. This is my second time with similar experience and again Rachel in service will not return my calls. I went in to have a toilet repaired under warranty, this portion was done as expected. I also requested that they repair the back-up and mirror cameras(I had been there for this before and was told there was a short and that it was fixed). Since the repair was not done correctly this was my second request that they be repaired. I was told that it was the radio and it would have to be replaced (since it worked I didn't think so, but what do I know). The warranty company would only pay the price for the original and since that one was no longer available I would have to pay the difference of $342.58, which I did. This was not the answer apparently since they are worse than before. While the vehicle was in the shop I was told the battery was no longer good and would not crank my motor home and that they would install a new one, out another $224.99. Well I thought that was extremely high, but no real choice. The problem here is they did not install a battery as stated and when I got home it went dead in my drive. I know that they did not install a battery because the opening in the dash on the Thor Axis has to be removed through the dash and it had not been disturbed I just left a garage where they removed the battery and the battery was fine except the cables were corroded and when they cleaned them the battery worked fine. All this is to say that I feel that I am due a refund since the battery was never installed and apparently the new radio was not needed. (end of e-mail) This is where I am since so far I have been ignored. The first problem I had they charged me with repairing a tire and when I got home the tire was flat with the same screw in the same place. See a pattern? I will not be ignored! We had a RV on our daughter's property in Fl. When a job switch had them move we needed to bring the fifth wheel back up here. We cleaned it up winterized it then called Camping World as they take good used RVs on consignment to sell. The salesperson came out, checked out the trailer, gave it a thumbs up that it was okay to sell on their lot. The way it works, you'll get blue book value for the camper if it sells, (it is verifiable not a made up amount) you'll be changed $295 once the RV hits the CW lot for the technicians to do a multi- point inspection. Anything major wrong (air conditioning, heat, plumbing) you'll have to pay to have it fixed or CW won't sell it. Minor things you can choose to have fixed or sell as is. All pretty standard stuff. Here's the two gripes. As mentioned I winterized the trailer, a ten minute routine with $8 of antifreeze. I get a call saying that-in order to complete the inspection it would be $130 to rewinterize the unit. I blew a gasket over that OBVIOUS gouge. #2 This is not the most communitive group. If you want to hear from them it's all up to you. All in all Camping World did what they said they'd do. The four rating should be a 3 1/2 do to the gouge and silence. But they take away all the issues of you trying to sell it yourself. read more

We arrived around 11am at the Camping world of Chattanooga after travelling for 2 hours. We were taken out to the lot and shown several models that were not what we had expressed interest in. We were shown a Carbon 347 that was very close to what we are looking for. I am not a fan having a slide on the entry/awning side of the camper. Still, a very nice camper and hit many of our wants and must haves. One word of caution please do your own research on what your truck tow rating is. Maximum trailer weight is only part of the equation. The other consideration is hitch weight/pin weight versus the cargo carrying capacity of your vehicle. The salesman did not seem to understand my concern with pin weight vs. cargo carrying capacity of my truck. We decided that the 347 would work for us and began to work numbers with the salesman. After working the numbers on the cost of the camper + $199 Document fee + $995 Dealer preparation fee + tax we came to an agreed upon number with the salesman. He went to the bullpen to get approval. He returns with an out the door price (OTD), no breakdown of numbers. My wife asked what the tax rate is so that we could verify the number he presented. He did not know and don't worry about it and kept pushing this was the OTD Price! So, we agreed trusting this was the agreed upon number including fees and tax. When he brought the official finance paperwork the base price we agreed upon had increased $3,000 with the document fee and tax on top of that for a total OTD price. We were not pleased. We questioned the number and were told the original agreed upon price was not approved and we had agreed to the OTD price (with no detailed breakdown as mentioned above). We were not told the original agreed upon price had not been approved. We felt this was very dishonest so we canceled the deal. We left after 7 hours of effort. The lesson we have learned from this is that we want to see all the numbers and tax rates etc. upfront before ever agreeing, initialing or signing anything. They play the game of scribbling numbers in crayon and having you sign in agreement so that you feel obligated, then change the numbers. Also, they kept pushing a monthly payment number which is baseless unless you know the base price, fees, taxes, interest rate and term. We kept asking them what this monthly payment number was based on, since we had not settled on a base price, and they would not answer. I thought we were going to be dealing with a reputable dealership/chain and we did not receive the experience we anticipated. Bottom line, angry and disappointed but smarter for the experience!
