The Sunday $2 hamburger and $1 fries actually tasted great! And what a deal! The server was kind and professional. Why the 2 star rating???? This place is filthy and I mean filthy. I know this is a college kid bar/hangout but this place is massively filthy. The salt shaker actually stuck to my hand and I had a hard time actually letting go of the damn thing. I worked here years and years ago and assume that they still make their ranch dressing homemade if so it is the best ranch dressing I've ever tasted in my life and campus bar and grill which used to be Big 12 Bar and Grill is the reason that I reached almost 200 pounds at approximately 20 years of age! As a business owner, I hate hyperbole-fueled negative reviews. Mizzou Dad here. Walked in, guy sitting in a chair said "sit anywhere you like," so we did. Wife and daughter go to the bathroom, came back and said "wow, that was a disgusting bathroom, and did you notice the floor is sticky in the whole place?" I opened the men's room door and didn't go in, the smell was too pungent. They must live by the "we clean it once a year, whether it needs it or not" philosophy. I did use a separate single stall bathroom that didn't stink but was very dirty and had fruit flies buzzing about. Got back to the (pretty dirty) table, we waited for another 3-4 minutes after the bathroom trips (8-10 minutes total), and after no acknowledgment from the staff that were sitting at a table doing homework and using their phones, we persuaded our college student (who loves the grilled cheese there) that we needed to eat somewhere else. She got a little upset but it was still the right decision. The chances that they DO clean their kitchen, just not the rest of the place, are low. I know they probably wear their dive bar status proudly, but not a wise decision to ever eat at Campus Bar. read more

In on a Sunday afternoon, football on screens everywhere. Seated promptly, pitchers of beer delivered soon after ordered, and $1 hamburgers to boot. The burger is $1. Cheese is $.50. You get pickles. Anything else (tomatoes, onions) are extra. But $1.50 for a little cheeseburger with pickles, catsup and mustard? Sign me up. A lively place to stop by right across from Missou. But the mens downstairs bathroom. Holy cow. I mean, if you can find a bad gas station bathroom to go to it'd be a step up. Don't touch anything, and don't worry about flushing, nobody else has. Arrived mid-week well before the lunch period, which probably accounted for our excellent service. This is a burger and beer place so you might be taking your chances with anything else. I had the Angus burger--the signature sandwich here--cooked medium rare. Yeah, the handmade, two-fisted, 1/2-lb behemoth was cooked to order. I got an outstanding burger that wasn't overcooked. With lettuce, pickles, onions, pepper jack cheese and mustard this could have been the burger that inspired Jimmy Buffett's Cheeseburger In Paradise. With long, crispy fries and sweet Pepsi this was a meal to combat all temptations to order a low cal, low fat, low taste meal. read more

The food is decent. Better bar food than most other bars in Columbia. However the service here is the slowest I've ever encountered. I'm eating here during the day right now and I'm pretty sure I've aged 4 years waiting for my food. Also we asked for them to put the football game on these tvs in front of us and they preceded to change all 3 tvs on the wall to an advertisement about some stupid powerfit crap that ran for like an hour, and they walked away and never changed it back. The daily specials here are great. This is an awesome little college bar with good drink and food prices.

Have seen this place and heard about it, so this past Saturday went in around 6:00 to give it a try. Few tables were open when we arrived. My wife ordered the Swiss Dip and I ordered the Chicken New Orleans, both were really good and had great flavor. The food was good and service was satisfactory. I find the restaurant itself needs a deep clean though. The 1st floor men's bathroom was disgusting--unsanitary and uncommonly grimy. Someone had recently thrown up on one of the urinals, and it was never cleaned. I don't have confidence that management is paying attention to its basic responsibilities. I wonder what condition the kitchen is in if the rest of the place is so unkept. I'll never go back unless they make cleanliness a priority. Someone's going to get sick. read more

Very disappointed with the overall quality and service that I received at Campus Bar & Grill. The security staff was extremely aggressive when entering the bar but thankfully the waitress was better. The food wasn't terrible but it also wasn't terribly warm either. Defiantly only caters to a college crowd and doesn't have much more than that. I grew up and over the college bar scene quite some time ago. In fact, I never really got it in the first place. Let me explain in two words: duck face. You know those girls? Think cliche, greek stereotype (I'm not saying all greeks, but let's be honest, there is a stereotype, accept it for what it is and move one). The Campus Bar is like the unofficial duck face breeding grounds. Over made up girls with too much hairspray, stumbling around drunk, yelling because the alcohol has somehow rendered their own ears useless, and taking photos of themselves with, you guessed it, the duck face. I went on a Thursday night, apparently it was ladies night (no cover fee) and $0.75 triple wells It was dirt cheap, my buddy was paying so I had a few gin and tonics, the Blackhawks vs. Canucks game was on, three things the night really had going for it. It took over 30 minutes to get a word in to the bartender because people kept ordering 5 drinks for themselves and 30 for everyone else. The place was more crowded than Celine Dion's shoe closet. Once we sat down, one of the ducks came over to start talking to everyone, she then used his head as her personal coaster. He asked her to stop, and she just started to laugh hysterically. It's fun for the first drink (if you are lucky enough to get one) to watch everyone, like you are at an aquarium or zoo. And the specials are nuts. But I'd rather throw down the $10 to buy a nice 6-pack of microbrews, and watch a game at home. read more

Campus Bar in my opinion has the best specials. How could you not like 2 for 1 deals?! Half price appetizers?! The window for this place is hit and miss, I get that. If you're trying to get a beer during a big game, you either better personally know your waitress or be willing to wait. After all, it's a college bar. However, people looking to have a good time on the cheap should check out Campus. Hint: Get there right before 8pm and you can avoid the five dollar cover. The atmosphere of Campus is loaded with Greek life, a turn off for many people, and if you're there for more than an hour you're bound to meet someone with a missing chromosome. It has nice mood lighting and the bar is huge. As for seating, you're likely to find a spot to sit with their huge tables and booths. There are tons of TVs, loud music, and loud people. There is also a rooftop patio to hang out on if you want some fresh air. As for the bathrooms, just wait to poop at home (you're welcome). Campus is a college bar. Don't take your parents here at 10pm after eating at Shakespeare's Pizza. This is the kind of bar where you meet with friends, get hammered, say stupid stuff, yell at TVs, and use a hazmat suit to enter the bathroom. On top of all of that though, it's fun and the specials are the best in town. read more

The new staff is awful. We sat at a table and waited 15 minutes before it was cleared off. We had a waitress within theses 15 minutes but she wouldn't clean off the table until I asked another waitress. She didn't ring in my food and brought me something else that I did not ask for. When I went to the bar to ask for a fork the bartender gave me a dirty fork that you can clearly tell was dirty. When I asked him for a clean one he said "this is the only one I could find back there." Excuse me?! How long did it take you to find that fork and where was it!? read more

I'm now a few years older than the normal college student, but I went to Columbia to visit friends for a few weeks and they took me here three different times. We went on two different Thursday nights, and all I can say is its going to be heartbreaking coming back to Houston to sip $9 cocktails after spending these nights crushing 75 cent triple whiskey and cokes. People were friendly for the most part, a few douchbag incidents aside, and the bartenders were great. I returned on a Sunday afternoon to watch my Buffalo Bills game, which wasn't on any of the TVs. I asked the bartender, who I'd recognized from the previous nights, and he got it on for me right away. I appreciate that kind of service, especially while wearing the jersey of an unfriendly team from out of town. He also mixed up a great bloody mary to help take the edge off partying the night before. This was definitely one of my favorite college bars I went to in Columbia. read more

This place is dirty and the staff is rude. When I presented my out of state ID they proceeded to taunt me saying, "Ohhh an Ohio ID, obviously a fake...I don't know, should we let her in?".
