A red tractor is in the outdoor space which allows the kids to play on while waiting or after eating. Outdoor space is clean and a relaxing vibe. I opted to eat Indian food on my first visit and would like to return to try the Backyard pizza and burgers. I ordered the butter chicken which comes with basmati rice $14.95. Ordered two garlic naan bread $3.95 and mango lassi $4.95. My food was served to me at my table. It was truly delicious and tasty. I really enjoyed eating outdoors that early evening. During my wait, one of the workers was swatting flies on the counter by the desserts and wiping the dead fly onto the floor I got my food and as I got back into the car noticed their "okay" health inspection rating on the window lol. The mango lemonade was a shame. No flavor. It didn't taste like mango or lemon so it was just weird. I Ended up getting a lemonade from chick fil a. The tikka masala was weird too. It tasted like honey tomato sauce. It was super sweet. No robust flavors or aromatics, no traditional Indian spices etc. The chicken was definitely cooked separately from the sauce bc the chicken had a roasted flavor to it. It was super tender which was nice but I was baffled by the lack of flavor. I have made more robust chicken tikka masala from a seasoning packet from Safeway. The naan was great. Tasty and a perfect balance of salt and chewy texture. I ate my naan but threw the rest of my food away. Safe to say I won't be back.

I picked up a large order for my office and arrived a few minutes earlier than what they quoted over the phone, so I got the chance to speak with one of the owners, who was overseeing operations. He and his wife are so kind and welcoming, making sure I had a great experience. Their son runs the operations and has a wonderful system for door-dash and traditional pickup. They are BUSY but you would not be able to tell because they are so efficient at getting orders out the door. If you want delicious Indian food and an inexpensive meal - check them out!

My attitude towards Gateway slowly grew more positive after seeing them at farmer's markets and getting their Indian Tacos. Wow I still think about those and as the weather is slowly getting warmer the farmer's markets will return and I can get a hold of those again. In case you are confused what exactly is a taco at the market version of Gateway it's a kabob type chicken put in a naan bread and you can make it a spicy as you want along with a nice dash of veggies. After having so many great experiences with those we considered going back to the restaurant itself and we did when a group socializing opportunity arose. We got the (Jalapeno) Mirichi Naan which we picked off of the menu and before making that decision we realized we never had naan before with jalapenos in it so we seized the opportunity to try it. It did not disappoint at all and was so, so good. Being able to smell the aroma of the peppers coming off of the bread made us drool and devour it all all the while enduring the heat. After that I got the Saag Aloo to share with Steve. I haven't had Saag in so long and I usually get Vindaloo when it comes to Indian restaurants but this time I was wanting a change of pace. I got the Saag Aloo which is a spinach and potato dish along with onion, tomatoes and ground spices. I got a medium heat (three stars I think) and it was perfect. So delicious! Steve got the Daal Maharani which was a mixed lentil dish. It was very good as well... but I still liked my Saag the best. To drink we got the Rocket Beer which was an Indian beer which I must add they have a nice selection of Indian beers here so that was very noteworthy and well worth remembering. For dessert we split some Ginger Ice Cream and it was great! It was strongly ginger forward as one would expect but the creaminess of the ice cream kept it more tempered and it was just lovely! With our large group... I am not sure if Gateway is used to handling large parties. Service was always, always friendly and was great in that regard but it was fairly slow, some parts of people's orders were forgotten ( like Steve's Daal dish) and when our large party tried to pay a whole bunch of separate bills not everyone got one so we had to talk to the the person ringing us all up on what we ordered to cash out. Despite that part of the service being uneven we will certainly be back sooner rather than later as we really enjoyed the food a great deal on our return visit ( second visit total).

The lunch buffet is a great way to try multiple items and expand your love for the food. There isn't a single thing on the menu that I do not enjoy. (Try the goat. It sounds a bit adventurous, but the flavor is a 10!) Aside from that, I've become disappointed over the years in the shrinking portions, removal of some of the extras that used to come with the meals and now the addition of a 15% "gratuity" that goes to the restaurant and not the staff while also being prompted to tip another 15% or more. I myself work in the industry and understand rising costs which is why we as consumers see price increases. I however do not agree with adding a blanket fee for restaurant costs to all of your orders. That should be built into the increased prices. Even though this is one of my absolute favorite things to treat myself to, I unfortunately have cut back on the frequency that I order because of these things.

Hubs ordered the Diavola pizza, with crisp pepperoni and pickled serranos. Either the serranos or red pepper sauce gave it quite the kick, not overly, but deliciously. It was perfectly crispy! Family ordered Carbonara and the lamb ragu. Both great portions, very flavorful! Our dinners came with a salad, which was a perfectly lightly dressed compliment to the appetizer and mains. We ordered: 1 rose cider (sweet but not too sweet), 1 pulpo (grilled octopus!) starter, 1 boscaiola pasta for the preschooler (boxed leftovers), 1 spring ravioli (more Italian name), and 1 rabbit with polenta entree. Each main came with salad and meal started with bread and whipped butter. We were offered a kid menu option of pasta with alfredo, marinara, or bolognese sauce, but opted for normal menu so we could bring back leftovers.
