Tonight, July 13th, around 8:30 PM, I tried to place my usual online order (a Daily Double, times two). It had been an exceptionally challenging day, and I was completely fixated on getting a comforting, tasty meal to ease the stress. Unfortunately, the online system informed me it was too late to order. Completely understanding the rules but wanting to take a chance, I called the Puyallup location directly. I wish I had caught the name of the gentleman who answered. He was incredibly accommodating, kind, and pleasant. Without hesitation, he told me, "Don't worry, I'll take your order now," and assured me it would be ready before closing. He was absolutely right. My family and I have been away for a year or more. We were there when you first opened and wow I am sorry to say in my opinion- garbage. Y'all used to be a great place that was homemade great pizza but now it seems commercial stamp and go. The lady that took my order was super nice and very accommodating even in person which is rare. Often people are ok over the phone but change up when I deal with them in person. Especially in places like Puyallup. Its super weird I wonder why. But anyways thats not the case here and the service was very good. Beware the Karen customers though. I ordered a pizza to go and was told it'd be ready in 10 minutes. While waiting, I saw flies landing on my pizza as it sat on the counter, and also around the drink station and takeout area - even on other customers' food. It was extremely unsanitary and concerning. While the pizza here tastes good, I can't bring myself to order again after seeing how the food is handled behind the counter. Had I not walked in and witnessed it myself, I never would've known- and what I saw was both unsanitary and concerning. It's disappointing and unacceptable for food to be prepared that way. read more

This Fat Zack's pizza was one of the worst pizzas I have ever had. A frozen pizza from Safeway has more taste than these! We decided on a whim to grab pizza here the other night and man where we not disappointed! I remember getting pizza from the south hill location and it was not good, but this downtown location was delicious! Our pizza was hot, fresh and ready when we went in to grab our to go order. We don't live too far and by the time we got home and settled it was a bit cold, but still delicious! The service was amazing (even for a to go order), we were greeted by all the staff as soon as we walked in (which never happens anywhere, anymore, these days). Pickle lovers, rejoice. Fat Zach's caught my eye after I discovered their The #NBD, aka their pizza loaded up with dill pickles. I quickly added this to mine and my boyfriend's date night list and much to my surprise, they've got several locations but the closest one to us was only 15 minutes! I expected this place to be similar to The Rock, but it's not! First off, they're fast casual, so be ready to order at the counter! They give you a buzzer and you snag your food. Also, it's much smaller. They've got limited indoor seating and outdoor seating with heaters. We were outside on a warmer fall evening, but it might be a little uncomfy to do that now, even with heaters. We tried a few items off the menu: the honey sriracha wings, The #NBD, and the Italian salad. The wings were delicious. Perfect balance of heat and sweet, definitely recommend. The salad wasn't anything exciting, but I love a salad with Italian meats, cheese, and pepperoncinis, so it was delicious to me! The star of the show was in fact the dill pickle pizza. The crust is a little thinner than I expected so it becomes quite messy, but it's worth it. The base is a ranch sauce, topped with mozzarella, dill, dill pickles, and then drizzled with more ranch. Heaven - I had very recently found out I was pregnant so this pizza was giving me LIFE when I first tried it. Entirely worth the try and will always be on my order when I stop in here! My husband tried Fat Zach's when they came to a work event and gave away pizza to employees and absolutely loved it, so we've been here a few times since then. When you walk in you're surrounded with first responder memorabilia everywhere and greeted by friendly staff. You walk up to the counter, order your food and take a seat and wait for your name to be called. They have an assortment of pizza, wings, salad and beer to chose from. They also have various daily specials and lunch specials. There is plenty of seating inside as well as outdoor seating with heaters. We've only gotten tried the Fat Zach pizza, which has a variety of meats and it's always been good (have gone three times) - they're definitely consistent with the product they sell. The first time we got boneless wings, which were meaty and flavorful. This time we got traditional wings, extra cooked - because I don't care for the chewy skin of bone in wings and they were okay, just not crispy like I enjoy - so I had my husband eat them. Next time I'd go back to ordering the boneless wings. Overall, definitely recommend Fat Zach's for their variety of amazingly flavorful pizza and the laid back atmosphere. read more

My wife and I had FZ cater our wedding yesterday. We were SO impressed and thrilled with how perfect everything turned out! They arrived on time and set up quickly and proficiently. The way they arranged the table for our guests to grab from was very professional looking. The pizza and red/white/blue salad was a huge hit. She said her gf/df pizza was better than the ones she's gotten in the restaurant, which I think says a lot seeing as this was prepared fresh and on site. Our guests absolutely loved the pickle pizza and didn't have a single complaint about any of the others. We are extremely happy with how everything turned out. Popped in to Fat Zach's on a whim. My granddaughter and I were just in the area and she was a little hungry. We ordered her a kids cheese pizza. The pizza was pretty large for a kids pizza (they were not skimping) so I was able to steal a few bites (slices). There was slightly more char on the crust than I would like, some bites tasted a little burnt (please do not lecture me on wood fired pizza, it is just my preferences). The dough was good, the sauce was great and the cheese was cheesy goodness! I need to circle back to the staff - they were excellent. Professional, attentive and friendly. Edit to add: we were provided a refund after speaking with the manager. We also got our pizzas (which were burnt so needed to be remade). They also gave us a pickle pizza for free which was actually really good. We just will avoid going during events at the stadium. We usually enjoy our visits at this location, but would highly recommend avoiding at all costs if there are any events ongoing at the stadium across the street. We were unfortunately provided a very inaccurate expected wait time (20-25 mins, which ended up being 75mins) which doesn't bode well when hungry young kids are involved. After 45 mins we checked for an update and were told we were "close", and after another 15 mins requested a refund so we could go elsewhere and were told no, despite our pizzas not yet being in the oven. read more

Hello! Driving back to Southern Oregon from Canada and spent a night right down the road from Fat Zacks. Ordered online for pickup which was simple and easy. (They also have dine in and delivery options). The ambiance when I went inside was bright and fun... a great place to hang out and have a few beers with friends. (There were some screeching children running around...glad we were taking this to-go!) And the staff was nice...no over the top service. We ordered 1) the First Responder pizza- good. Not "wow", but WAY better than Wicked (see my other review). My wife ate the whole pie! TBH we had been camping for 10 days! 2) garlic cheesy bread. Good flavor but a little too much cheese for my liking. And could use more garlic...again, that's my taste. 3) large caprese salad. Meh...I mean, it was plated well, but 1 leaf of basil to 1 tomato slice and 1 thick mozzarella slice - don't be stingy with the basil! Lol or add some pesto drizzle... I'm Italian so, garlic and basil have been a staple my whole life. The final thing is price... and portions. Almost $20 for a 10"(?) pizza?? The whole order was over $50 with tip. That seemed a little excessive. But we're on vacation so, there ya go. Would I choose again? Given the choice between Wicked and Zach.... I'd choose Zach...if I had to. read more

I have recently moved here from the East Coast and was looking forward to picking a new favorite pizza place, and the food looked great on the website with appetizing choices. I accidentally went to the wrong branch to pick up my pizza but while I was there I got a Fanta soda, one of their cookies and a small container of their ranch dressing. Just that was almost $18. The pizza was going to also be around $18 which I was fine with if it was really good, and the size I expected. Instead it was basically a personal sized pizza with slices literally smaller than my finger. Again if it was the most amazing pizza I ever ate I would've been somewhat fine with the price, but all it tasted of was raw flour and the stronger tasting ingredients like black olives and onions. I literally could not taste that it had sauce on it. Sadly very disappointed and will not be going back, the search continues. MOD Pizza, the fast food of pizzas blows them away. read more

Tasty pizzas, but fake cannolis. My newest friends invited me to eat an early dinner here before Bible study one Sunday night. The menu was pretty impressive, and we opted for the 2 for $24 special, as well as some cannolis (3 for $6). While waiting, we got to work on a pizza coloring page, with these sheets + free crayons. So good, so far~ our order was out in no time, and we got: *pepperoni: on a base of a mozzarella blend. Perfectly cheesy base on top of a medium thick, doughy crust. No complaints here. *weekly (or was it a summer?) special: mild cheese (sorry, can't recall what kind) with prosciutto and peaches. Wasn't too hot about this. I'm not the picky type, but the flavor combination caught me off guard. *cannolis: wasn't notified when the order was ready, so I inquired after 10 minutes, and they just took it right out of the fridge. They gave me an extra order for waiting. Turns out, the cannolis were filled with icing, and definitely not ricotta cheese. Attending a wedding where the young bride and groom chose Fat Zak's to cater the meal. The mobile pizza oven rolled up on a trailer about an hour before the wedding to set up and get the wood-fired oven up to temperature (900 degrees F.). Been cooking pies for years and couldn't resist getting my nose inserted into the process. Wilmar, the young man working the oven, was kind enough to give me a tour of their operation. We talked dough and sauce recipes, discussed dough ingredients, and pizza styles. Wilmar is the kind of positive employee every business searches for but rarely finds. He is a great ambassador for Fat Zak's. On to the pies. The oven cooks a 12-inch pie in 90 or so seconds. The sauce uses imported San Marzano tomatoes and they keep it simple. The result is a solid base for the numerous pizza options offered... the most interesting of which was the Pickle Pizza. I'm still surprised how uniquely flavorful it was. Bottom line... give Fat Zak's a try and ask for Wilmar. He will elevate your eating experience. read more
