I decided to eat here a few weeks ago. It was about 1230pm (lunch time) why was I charged dinner prices? When I walked in there was a "pond" inside. It was very unsanitary. If they can't keep it clean then just get rid of it. The food was not appetizing at all. I had a lot of Asian food and this was not it. To make matters worse they have a grocery store in the restaurant. I knew I should've have immediately walked out but I figure give it a try. So hole in the wall places are actually good.... Not this one. If you want to save money and eat well this is not the place to go to. After I ate I had an upset stomach for a few days. DONT WASTE YOIR MONEY!!!! This was absolutely worth the stop! The price was decent and the service was incredible. We were greeted by a friendly face and smile and it continued throughout the rest of the staff as well! So many items to pick from as well as a sushi bar and chef on the grill so you can even make up your own little dish! This place is literally a scam. Their prices seem reasonable, but during peak dinner hour they were only serving their cheapest items. We went there because we heard they had sushi. When we arrived, there were literally three pieces of sushi left (everything else was veggie rolls, no actual fish), which we took. Immediately we could tell it had been sitting out, the rice was hard and the fish was warm. We had salads while we waited for them to refill the sushi bar. During that time, multiple other dishes ran out with nobody refilling anything. After about a half hour, we asked about sushi, and the chef came out and offered to make us each two pieces of sushi. That was it, despite this being a buffet. I thanked them for the offer, but said that if they weren't going to be refilling their food, I wanted my money back. Was told that because we'd had other food (again, salad) they wouldn't, despite their outright refusal to serve the food offered. Absolutely do not reccomend, would never go back. read more

Walking in they have a price list and the price says $14.99 a person. They charged us $16.99 because the cashier said that the price list is wrong and that it's always $16.99. The food was old, tough and cold. Sushi was marginal and the place was old and dirty. They have zero customer service and it's not worth the price. My parents have a weird fascination with buffets. It's like they moved to Spokane, decided they needed a hobby, and chose buffet dining. Not even buffet dining in a casino, just run of the mill strip mall buffet browsing. On a recent trip up to Spokane to visit them, they suggested an Asian buffet they found. After we realized there was no way we could say no, they dropped the fact that it was 30 minutes away from their house. Ugh I thought. After the trek out to Canaan Buffet, we walked in from the frigid, terrible Spokane weather and were greeted with a large water feature full of healthy looking koi. I was unable to determine if the koi are being farmed for the sushi buffet section of Canaan. As a veteran of many an Asian buffet, I was pleasantly surprised with Canaan's selection. They go way beyond the normal buffet fare of General Tso's and Chicken with Mixed Vegetables. I had positive experiences with the jalapeno chicken, duck curry and a few of the sushi options. The snow crab legs and crawfish were both over steamed and had rubbery shells, but they tasted OK. The service was helpful, the décor was tastefully garish, and pricing was low for what you got. In the realm of possible terrible experiences that could have arisen from my parents saying "Let's get Asian buffet", this was one of the better outcomes. read more

We were checked on by the waitress several times while we were eating, and there was plenty of food, with PLENTY of variety. I went there today for the first time with my 79 year old sweet Japanese mother. I was so happy to see how clean it was. The owner was nice and professional, no screaming at her employees over the customers, like Vicky and her husband, at Hong Kong Buffet, located at the Spokane Valley Mall. Oh beware of the flies.Please Yelp their restaurant before you go there. Well, enough of that. Let's go back to the absolute pleasant atmosphere, nice employees, the SUSHI lady, I think Molly...was so sweet and keeps the freshness continuing to come. The food is fresh and so delicious. Well, surprise! We all liked this place. Started with a recommendation from family (who was from San Francisco) and thought we'll try it. The food was good. Some of the dishes were a bit plain, but they were obvious and meant for the tame. The baby octopus salad was a delight. I would never expect to find it done well here. Everything was fresh and the people were extremely helpful. My daughter has allergies and the sushi chef took time to explain everything she had out and guide us to the other side of the place to show us some other dishes. It was our first time there, and the lady at the front counter, Oksana, recommended we try the Mongolian Grill feature, which I did, and it was outstanding. I later sampled several buffet items, and all were excellent. Oksana came and asked how my Mongolian plate was, and seemed genuine in wanting to ensure I was well pleased. Great assortment from sushi to soups. As with most buffets the flavors are, for the most part, so-so. The entrees are tasty, I tried the teriyaki chicken and broccoli chicken and they were both good. The chow mein noodles were bland but the rices were good. Pot stickers, spring rolls and sushi were quite good and the hot and sour soup was really good. We were driving by Spokane and my wife wanted to try this place. First off, it's way off the highway, and I was hoping it was worth it and it wasn't. You have to pay first before you eat- that's weird and my first thought is what kind of town is this? I'm really starting to get pissed at Chinese places that can't get the basics right. Just make some good egg rolls, fried rice, lo mein, and maybe some general tsos chicken. I don't want meat loaf or fish with cheese on it. There were no egg rolls- just those little miniature spring rolls with barely anything inside. This place has certainly cured any desire of mine to eat at a Chinese buffet for quite some time. Great variety of food, including sushi, fish, soups, salads, ice cream, fruits; both, Asian and American dishes. My whole family, from teens to adults, find a lot of dishes we like. I like the most the grill with your own selection of vegetables, meats, and spices. I would say it's a great family-friendly buffet. Every penny is worth it. Staff is very friendly too. How this place has good ratings is beyond me. Aside from having pretty good sushi for a buffet of this type, everything else was mediocre. The egg drop soup had no flavor, and was orange. ORANGE. Most of the food was 3/5 or 4/5, but the good quality sushi (considering it's a buffet) and the Mongolian grill option put me at a solid 4/5. We were there at an odd time between lunch and dinner, so I can't complain that the food wasn't fresh off the grill, but I can complain about how hard it was to get a drink refill. I took my wife there for her Bday as she loves Chinese food and the reviews were good. BIG mistake. At $16.95 per person and an additional $10 a lb for crab legs it is very pricey. 50 % of our food was awful. Cold, over cooked, dried out. I tried 2 meat dishes that were without any warmth at all. Noodles had a hint of warmth. For dessert the puddings were runny, the cakes dry, the ice cream mushy. The shrimp dishes I tried (2) were good, the sauce excellent. Several other dishes were OK but not great. Mac and cheese were excellent. Service was good and the restaurant was nice and clean. We were there at 5pm ant the place was empty. We were looking for a decent Chinese buffet and decided to try this one. They offer military discount, student discount, and senior discount. The selection was good and especially we liked their crawfish. Our waiter was friendly... when he was available. The waiter (male) was talking really loud with two girls (one is another waiter, I am not sure about another one. She was the loudest) and when owner told them to stop, they just moved to a corner table and sit there. They started video chatting on their laptop (really loud). Dishes are piling up on our table and we needed a refill of our drink, but I wasn't sure if he was still working or not. Finally a lady from other table went to him and told him that we needed service, then he came and started picking up dishes and filling drinks. It was very weird. We ate there at least 4 times. w Went in last night with the family paid almost $100. Past experience food was fresh however last night it seems like the dinner food was sitting out from lunch time it was terrible the chicken was chewy the the food had no flavor it just was very poor and sloppy dinner. Three out of five of us ended up with a stomach ache. Unfortunately I will not be going back there anytime soon and I will not be recommending this Buffet to anyone. My suggestion to anyone is to before you pay go look at the buffet food then determine if you're going to eat there or not this is a rule that I'm going to follow as well. Also check out the floors usually the floors will tell you how clean the restaurant is the bathrooms were dirty the dishes were not clean I should have just got up and left. Lesson learned. I also called them this afternoon to let them know how bad their food was they could not do anything about it since it was yesterday I understand however if you would like to keep your customers there should be something to compensate the poor food that was serve last night for dinner. They should check their food to see how dry it out and chewy it looks. Being cheap is what closes restaurants down. read more

My hubby and I were searching for a nice buffet. We found this place and we love it. The food is fresh and hot, the atmosphere is pleasant and calming, and the staff are friendly. They have a fresh sushi station and a mongolian BBQ station. I absolutely love their green beans. This is already our go to place when we want to just spend a little time together. Very disappointing service. The food is fine however it is difficult to to enjoy the food when the male server is extremely rude. I am not certain how this individual has been allowed to work in a service job. He did not check on any of us in the dining area. Never asked how the food was, dis we need anything, would we like a refill on our drinks? I had to ask for refills then I received a dirty look and no response whatsoever. About 5 mins later he brought more tea, never said a word, no response when we said thank you. He stood for about 10 minutes talking to some ladies about how he boxes for 3 hours after work. I've eaten at this buffet for five years now, and the food has been consistently good! The staff is always super friendly and helpful. Also, the decorations inside are lovely. There is a wide variety of fresh food, including a dessert bar and sushi. Lots of classic Asian dishes, such as egg flower soup and steamed pork buns. However, they have added some more American food, including fries and mac and cheese. As for dessert, I would definitely recommend the coffee cake or ice cream! First reaction, their POS system is incredibly slow, each guest is taking 2 minutes to pay. We were the 3rd group in line, 7 people in line total. took 5 minutes to get in w/e. told to sit where we like. took about 10 minutes to get silverware and drinks and I had to go and grab a waitress or prolly would have been waiting all night. The only food I tried that was BAD was the crab. tasted like old sulphur eggs and had the texture of overcooked eggs. The sushi was subpar. the reviews about the rice are right. I mean I know they're using cheap ingredients to provide all you can eat sushi, but calrose (sticky) rice is the same. You can't use the excuse "well we use affordable ingredients" there, it's just bad. I couldn't find anything at this buffet that had me go "wow this is good" Most of the food was unappetizing. Veggies in every dish raw, breaded shrimp raw on the inside. Most everything with any sauce were heavy on mirin, soy sauce, and teriyaki making it all taste the same. Selection isn't nearly as large as the 150plus items make it sound. Thankfully there was a party going on in the banquet area and it was a little loud so the music was muffled, but when I went to the bathroom yup, they do indeed play christian faith music..
