Super clean strip mall location. It was fairly busy for a Wednesday with a mostly senior crowd for lunch. Service was super friendly and prompt. There seemed to be a regular crowd that the owners knew and engaged with nicely. Menu is small and predictable but includes good lunch options. I would have appreciated a 1/2 and 1/2 option for soup, salads and sandwiches. Prices are fair and portions were generous. Plus they have a rewards punch card. The food came out quickly and was super fresh and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed a Cuban overflowing with meat. I was tempted by the soups (tomato, cheesy broccoli, chili) and sweet treats (ice cream, frozen treats, shakes, cookies) but knew my limitations. Went here on a Thursday night on our way up north. We were kind of surprised that when we walked in a little after 6 that we were the only ones in the place, but after we ordered a few more people started to show up. You order at the counter, and the woman who took our order was super friendly. The place was also very clean and both staff who were working were wearing facemasks, so from a sanitary standpoint, seems good! As for the food, we ordered a bbq chicken sandwich, a spicy chicken wrap, and a multiberry shake. On their menu they have a section where you can choose sandwich, wrap, or salad, which I really appreciated given I normally want a wrap. They also had two options of wraps with a plain and a garlic; I opted for my wrap to be garlic. The spicy chicken wrap actually did have a little kick, not overly spicy, but just so you know its there. I think I would order the dressing on the side next time, as there was a lot in the wrap. I wouldn't say it necessarily made it soggy, but I think it might have been easier to eat if I would have just had it on the side to dip the wrap into. Overall great flavor though. I will say, I was kind of disappointed that I didn't get it in sandwich form after seeing the bread that the bbq chicken came on. It had a good chewiness to it and can imagine that it would be very good pressed. Each part of the bbq sandwich was pretty good, but we think by putting it together they almost muted each other over enhancing. Although that might just be because we think the cheddar was unnecessary. Still pretty tasty though. The multiberry shake was a pleasant surprise. They use a vanilla softserve base and add a berry sauce to it, but the berry sauce had a nice tartness to it, so it balanced well. They also top it with whipped cream! We also had to get a free pup cup for our pup which he gobbled down immediately. One thing to note is that sides don't come with the sandwiches, but the sandwiches are plenty of food on their own. Overall, very tasty food for a decent price. The staff was super friendly and the food came out quick. This might have to be our new go-to spot for trips up north. read more

"Canape Sandwiches" opened a few moths ago in the Northridge Plaza in Portage, WI. I went there for the first time today. It is a small, family-run business. The place was spotlessly clean, with about 10 tables. They specialize in hot & cold sandwiches, hotdogs, burgers, side orders, and desserts (with an emphasis on ice cream). I ordered a Chicago Style hotdog with a side of chili-cheese fries. Both tasted really good, and I was impressed by the quality of the ingredients and portion sizes. Not a "fancy" place by any means; but good, reasonably-priced food, served fast by friendly people. For those that are interested, check out their Friday "Game Night". I wish there was a 3.5 star honestly. My daughter said her chicken bacon ranch wrap was the best she's ever had however my jellyfish sandwich was ok it's was actually an interesting sandwich with salami anc grape jelly I enjoyed it but it wasn't the best I've had and the Mexican corn I had on the side was not good, I'm sorry it just wasn't. The place was squeaky clean but the bathroom not so much. I would go back and give the place another shot because I really do love a good sandwich read more

Love the sandwiches but they tried doing breakfast. Got steak and eggs that looked like it came from dollar general next door! And if was 7 bucks I'd say I got what I paid for. But 14 dollars and a 10 dollar tip! Never doing it again. I couldn't even identify what cut of "steak" that came from? Sirloin is cheap tuff but tasty. What was I served? read more

2nd visit to this very unique sandwich place - loved it both times. Highly recommend the canape steak sandwich. Nicely tenderized and seasoned meat with no fat blobs or grizzle. Surprisingly, the aioli and avocado make a gravy-like coating and flavor which is so satisfying. Bread was fresh and just the right softness. The sandwich doesn't look very big, but it's hearty so my husband and I each found it to be plenty even without a side. Sides don't come with, which is just as well so you don't eat more than needed and, given the diverse group of choices, why encourage the usual bundle with fries? On our 1st visit the place was pretty busy and 5 of us walked up to order at once, so it took a while to get our food, but the owners thoughtfully have games available so we joyfully passed the time playing Jenga. Everyone ordered something different and all enjoyed their choice. We just pass thru on trips, so can only get here occasionally. Please make sure you check it out and support this jem. It's clean, the staff is down-home friendly, and they are happy to tailor things per your request. On a whim, I asked if they could add peanut butter to my chocolate shake and got an immediate yes and it was sooo good.
