I first saw this place a few years ago in winter when it was closed so when I was back in LM recently and I needed lunch I jumped on the chance to stop. This very cute place is walk-up only with a dozen or so outside tables. They have a number of sandwiches and sausages to choose from but to be honest I really did not study the menu. I was here for a Chicago dog. I ordered my dog at one window and at the next they build the order by quizzing you on what you all want on it... seemed unnecessary when you order a Chicago dog. Anyway the hot dog was very good and was relatively inexpensive (given the prices these days). The patio was very pleasant especially on this mild August day. I will stop again. read more

Doyle's has a couple location but we dined at the former gas station transformed into a super cute walk up hotdog stand. Staffed by friendly high schoolers and featuring a menu of brats, dogs and Italian beef, you walk up and order and pay at the window on the left, then customize by speaking to the person at the second window. There wasn't a line when we arrived so it took maybe 5 min to get the food and pay-really quick. Our group tried the Italian beef (order it "wet"), a brat and two Chicago dogs festooned with the classic condiments including tomatoes, peppers and the weirdly colored relish on a poppy seed bun. With a couple of bags of chips we were all set. Every one enjoyed the food but I'd go back just because of the sheer cuteness of the place. A great spot for a quick, inexpensive lunch. read more

What a great find! I was out and about exploring on my motorcycle and found myself in the lovely town of Lake Mills. I spotted a sandwich board on the corner pointing me in the direction of Doyle's Dogs just down the block. What a great surprise... Doyle's is a great looking hot dog joint that took over what appears to be an old filling station. I ordered a nice hot dog and a can of RC Cola. That set me back less than $5... And it was worth every penny! They also have a nice selection of ice cream bars and popsicles too. But I had my mind set on a different ice cream joint. Kind of wish I'd have just stayed at Doyle's! Good place to grab a quick bite to eat in Lake Mills when checking out the downtown. I had the italian beef, regular size. It did not disappoint. It was made to my specification, not too "wet" (with au jus), piled high with italian beef, mild gardineria that tasted home made, melted mozzarella and a thick chewy bun that held up to the sandwich. Inexpensive, filling and good to eat in the tables inside. It hit the spot! I was full for hours and had a bottle of water and a bag of chips for an extra charge. Pay attention and when I say no peppers on my dog I mean no peppers please. I hate the Vienna dog because it is tough and tasteless so I always get the brat Chicago style. Awesome little spot that is perfect for Covid dining. They have a very basic menu of dogs and beef with a few sides. What they do they do really well though and I'm glad we found it on our trip up north. The staff was super nice and everyone was keeping their distance even though we were all outside. Love the fact that there are 2 Doyle's Dogs locations in the Lake Mills area. One of them is on Lake street and the other is by Ming's Garden, fantastic! Delectable hot dogs, friendly staff, and great prices - can't be beat. As I mentioned in other reviews, growing up in the New York City area - I've been exposed to a vast variety of hot dog styles and truthfully speaking, nothing beats a good o'l New York hot dog, but this place is certainly on the same level. We were in the mood for Chicago style hot dogs and decided to give this place a try. I grew up eating the famed Chicago hot dog and operated a small push got dog cart as a teen, so I think I know what this consist of. Vienna all beef hot dog Lots of mustard Neon green pickle relish Chopped onion Tomato wedges Pickle wedge Celery salt Sport peppers (optional) No ketchup, ever! The first thing I noticed was they offered ketchup. Then I noticed they used a cheaper hot dog and not the Vienna brand (yes it makes a difference). I asked for two dogs dragged through the garden. That's what a fully loaded Chicago hot dog is called. I was asked if I wanted ketchup on it. A very disgusted no was my response with an explanation that if he put ketchup on it, it was no longer a Chicago hot dog. The stand is cute and there is seating outside. While the hot dog was prepared properly it left a lot to be desired. We won't be back anytime soon. read more

My family takes a 20 minute drive to eat here 1-2 a month and I love it! My hot dog is hot, bun is warm and the toppings are fresh. While the Chicago dog is my favorite, I've branched out and tried the Virginia Dog and Chili Cheese Dog. Both are delicious but Chicago style has my taste buds hooked! No matter who is making the food, everyone is so friendly. Patrick Doyle, owner, will even stop outside to chat with us when he has time. Was in town visiting my parents, and they took me to this fun little hot dog stand. They not only have two sizes of hot dogs, but brats, polish sausage, veggie dogs, and Italian beef sandwiches. I had a regular dog, with ketchup, mustard and tomatoes. They did not have mayonnaise available as a condiment, so I was a bit disappointed, but I do realize I am in the minority for using it on my hot dogs, so I can't really hold it against them. My parents got the large dogs, and they got a lot more topping on them, and both enjoyed them. Chips and sodas rounded out our meals. Lots of tables to sit at and umbrellas to shade you from the summer sun. Will come here again on my next visit. read more

Doyle's Dogs may not be a Michelin rated restaurant but what they do is done very well! They offer a wide assortment of hotdogs and sausages and a decent veggie dog as well. Every topping imaginable is available, and the coleslaw is even decent. The outdoor seating area is extremely pleasant with nicer than usual plantings! I do wish the employees had been wearing masks, which is my only complaint. Covid-19 is on the rise in Wisconsin and both my partner and I are senior citizens. Perhaps they will soon be wearing masks at Doyle's, as towns and counties are now requiring them. I would not hesitate to eat there again during this pandemic if the employees were wearing masks. Otherwise we will have to wait until this virus finally runs its course. The place is otherwise very clean and well maintained. read more
