This place is just ok. There isn't any good sit down restaurants in Stanfordville or Pine Plains that don't break the bank and have a good atmosphere and vibe. The margaritas are great, strong and worth the price and they do to go drinks.Food tastes old, dried up and microwaved. I hear the people here are typically nice but they must have just been fed up with it being slow the day we came. Everyone on their phones the entire time, and started clacking silverware and abruptly turning the music off at 8:00 even though they are open til 930. We had a high tab. The Food was better than any Latin American or Spanish restaurant outside of Texas and California. I came in from Florida after being away from REAL AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD. I got used to the way others made it in their country . It was very refreshing and it was a very special surprise to find such quality food and more than reasonable prices in a small town on a road that you would pass without thinking twice during the day. At night it has lights and is welcoming. They make the food fresh and nothing is ever from the day before. It's a family legacy restaurant from what I understand and the daughter who I had the pleasure meeting is awesome. This used to be an old school diner in Stanfordville about 20 years back, and now a family owned and operated Mexican restaurant. The food has gotten much better in the last year or so. Really good service, live music outdoors on Fridays, gets quite busy when it's beautiful weather out... and I have to give it five stars for having all of the above in upstate New York. Of course, you won't find any diversity here in the crowd, but the pork tacos are great, same with the trio enchiladas. We also got the stuffed peppers and tamales. It'll never taste like the tacos you find alongside roads in Mexico, but I really enjoy this family operated joint in the middle of Dutchess county. Nice ambience indoors and out! read more

Of coyote flaco is an option to make a stop on your road trip than make the stop here. Before I start ; the name... come on. What a freaking cool name for a restaurant. You won't have an issue looking for parking. They offer inside and outdoor seating. I like sitting out but the horsefly made it a bit uncomfortable. So I suggest you eat inside during the day. Inside it's decorated with colorful and lively colors. It seems to be a family run business which had me hoping the food were family recipes. On that account I was not disappointed. I had ordered their take on a skirt steak and it was absolutely delicious. Probably the best I have ever had with a volcano flow of flavors. Not your traditional skirt steak at a Hispanic restaurant. Tip: it's served on a hot plate, so make sure you order it rare if it you want it medium because it's going to continue cooking on the plate unless you transfer it quickly. The yellow rice was good with the beans. The sweet plantains were cooked perfectly which for some reason some restaurants mess up. By the way their drinks are not poured with a measuring apparatus. Amazing food and I was surprised. Bring the second time in this area for camping, this is about the best Mexican food I had in a long time. We started with some free chip and salsa and they are very generous for a refill. They are so good either we are starving or carving for food. Jalapeño margarita is the best item on the menu. Don't skip it. Don't go for the frozen one because they are that much weaker and too sweat. We ordered a few entrees. They are all amazing. I started with beef taco and it's about the best tacos I ever had. My friends got the fajita and all. Every dish is an art. We came here twice on a weekend and that's something. I usually dont have time to write the review while at the restaurant but over 15 min. waiting for the check (just asked for a second time) affords you that opportunity. The other thing that was kinda lame was the measly portion on the chips and the guacamole. Best of all, after the 2nd nearly empty basket they tell you that you'll be charged for the 3rd. WAY OVERPRICED AND RUDE. Customer service is very unprofessional. I placed a relatively large order and picked it up. They didn't include everything I ordered and paid for. When I called to let them know I was missing a roasted vegetable quesadilla and two salads, they said they had packed everything I ordered and refused to provide what I paid for. My go to test of any new Mexican restaurant is to order cheese enchiladas as I figure if they can't get that right the rest of the menu will be equally as bad. Coyote Flaco's Enchiladas Rojas with cheese we're excellent rated right up there with dishes I've tasted in Laredo and better Mexican restaurants in Houston. Missed peas in the rice but it was also delicious as were the beans. My wife's Chili Relleanos with cheese were equally as good as was the Guacamole. Definitely set for another trip to Coyote Flaco the next time we're Upstate. read more

Went there to get a large side of guacamole the lady completely ignored me when I got there. Then proceeded to charge me 17$ for just a small container of guacamole. My husband asked if there was chips for it and she said no. He then proceeded to ask if she would serve it like that it we were seated and she said yes, so what are people just eating guacamole by the spoon as a meal for 17$? My husband, mother-in-law and I love Mexican food and have frequented quite a few all over the state. Our favorite was in Carmel, NY but sadly since moving father north we don't get to go anymore. Thought Coyote Flaco could be a welcomed replacement. Good god, that'll never happen. To start, the salsa was made with ketchup. KETCHUP. Just because it's red and was once a tomato doesn't mean it belongs in salsa. It's obvious they were running low and chose to extend what they had left with a hamburger condiment. The plating was imaginative, I'll give them that. Too bad the best part about the food was the presentation. Husband ordered chorizo and got some sort of kielbasa. Mother in law got sick midway through the meal and apparently her meal was as appetizing coming up as it was going down. The only credit where credit is due is that our server was very nice.
