On the crap end of what is left of The Shoppes at Carlsbad Mall, someone decided to open an Indoor Park that caters to younger children. It's like if someone crossed a SkyZone Trampoline Park with a McDonald's Playpen and slapped it with a coat of pastel paint and candy stickers. Sorry, CANDEE stickers. I will say that the prices are very reasonable. $25 buys you two hours of playtime. Grip socks are extra, food is extra, some of the games are extra. And the area itself is impressively clean, especially considering the number of young children traipsing about. On the negative side of things, however, the list is a bit longer. First, there's not a ton to do. Candeeland has limited space to work with and much of it is taken up by sitting areas for parents. The empty space could easily house 2-3 more small activities without sacrificing any existing areas. Still, what activities they do have are pretty intricate, with the multilevel play area having a nice array of padded areas for children to crawl through and a toddler area with nice pneumatic tube setup to delight the young. Next, even though the place is less than a year old, there's already some breakage of some of the area. There's a floor made up of touch screens that displays numerous games for kids to step on a play with. However, it's apparent that some larger kids have smacked a number of screens, causing them to go out or flicker. Which leads to my biggest issue. There are not that many people working here. This means that there are usually people minding the gate and checking if your kid is leaving with the right person. But, there aren't enough people on the floor to ensure safety or police older kids from doing things they shouldn't be doing. Candeeland really is a place that caters to those between 3-8 years of age. Older kids either don't fit on some of the slides or play a bit too rough with the environment. More than once, a screaming 12 year old almost barreled over my kid, knocked her off a slide, or hit her with one of the nerf axes. Sure, they balk when you glare at them. But, they just go back to screaming and thrashing about while their parents sleep oblivious in the corner. So, does my seven year old like Candeeland? Yes, she loved it and wants to come back. Disappointing experience - not the same as before I visited Candeeland Carlsbad yesterday with my 5-year-old son, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. I want to start by saying the front desk attendant was very friendly and welcoming. However, the rest of the staff completely changed the tone of our visit. They were consistently rude and made us feel not welcomed there. I've been there before and had a very different experience, so this was surprising. This time, I was not allowed to sit at the tables with my coffee and reusable water bottle, even though they sell drinks and snacks on-site and I've done this on previous visits. I had no intention of taking anything into the play structures, just sitting at the tables. I also planned to do some light work on my computer while my son played, something I've done there before, but I was told that wasn't allowed either. I was told I had to stay with my son at all times. The way this was communicated was the most frustrating part. The staff came across as dismissive and unwelcoming, not just to me but to other families as well. I ended up speaking with the assistant manager because the situation felt so uncomfortable. As I was leaving, another family actually thanked me for saying something because they were feeling the same way, which says a lot. I had been planning to host my son's birthday party there in June, but after this experience, I will definitely be making other plans. I really hope management takes this feedback seriously, because this place has potential, but the customer experience needs a lot of improvement. read more

First time here super cute ! Everything looks so new ! Grip socks required, they sell them for $3 or you can bring your own . It's about $20 a child for an hour , one adult allowed in but most play areas say no adults allowed so you're more just watching or following. Cute cafe , they sell quite a few items . I had an Americano made by Felix ! Super friendly employee . He asked me if it was my first time here and said yes . He gave me 10 free token s for the games ! Extremely clean; colorful, interactive attractions; and excellent service. What more could you ask for from a park? I would recommend this place over Kids & Coffee or any of the other indoor playgrounds in the area. I liked how there was an area for younger kids (that was still a blast), and more attractions than most places. The arcade area requires more money but I found that they made the claw games easy to win for little kids. The kids had a euphoric experience every time they won something. When one of the machines broke, the owners were happy to comp us the money we put into the machine. I especially liked the drawing zone where kids can draw something on a small screen and have the animal or whatever they created appear on the giant projection on the wall. read more

Ok, I don't know whose eyes got bigger, mine or my grandkiddos! My husband told me they were going to open this place awhile ago. I'm excited it is finally here! I wanted to play on everything with my grandkiddos. I just had to go down the lighted slides! I didn't slide down as fast as the littles but still had fun. But before I enjoyed a little play time I had a can of cold brew from the snack area. Now, the prices are not budget friendly. Hey, if you are desperate for some energy, there you go! They also offer regular brew. This place is very open and inviting with the happy colors (colors that says, candy is here). There is a section that offered candy. We did not dare visit that area since Halloween was just the other day. We will visit that section the next visit around. You must wear the special grip socks if going into the play section. Socks are $3 a pair. Customer service at the desk are friendly and ready to help and answer any question's. There are seating spread throughout the play area. We saw some instagram post and decided to come during opening weekend, and boy was it packed! The place is brand spanking new. We were looking for a new place. Definitely better than Baby Hop in the same mall. There's a lot of activities for all ages. My toddler spent most of the time in the little kid area. They have staff checking too, which I like because older kids can be rowdy. Lots of sitting area for adults. They have party rental rooms. The cafe wasn't fully operable yet, they were still in the process of getting their licenses for some drinks. Staff were really friendly. Definitely come back! read more

Yes to a clean, safe, well kept, and fun place for kids! I have been to this indoor playground a handful of times and just recently for a large birthday party (around 80 guests). Every time we come it has always been a pleasant experience. My 3 littles eyes always brightens when we visit. Parking is easy since it's at the slow part of the mall (enter between the old Sears and Macys on the 2nd floor). When you enter, it's to the left. You cannot miss the brightness of the establishment. The check in staff are nice and helpful and the entrance fee is reasonable. ($25 for 2 hours). Socks are extra but we were able to bring our own to use. For every kid entrance purchased, an adult is free. Adults can accompany kids into the structures (if you can fit). The party room is large enough to accommodate about 80 max with both kids and adults. For our party, some of the guest sat outside the room. You can bring in your own food but you would need to set it up yourself and breakdown. The party packages are pretty reasonable as well. One of my top places to take the kids for a couple hours to burn off energy. read more

Came here for my great nephew's 3rd birthday and it was really fun! The staff were very friendly and kept cleaning throughout the whole time we were there. They didn't kick us out right at the time our slot ended which was very cool of them. It wasn't too busy either and we had cake and pizza in the food area. I like how there's age specific areas. And lots of stimulating activities to do. The ball pit where you can actually throw balls at the screen at zombies or other things was one of my favorites. My nephew loved it! We were in the area on a family trip, but with the rain I started to look for activities to do with my kiddos. We came across Candeeland and stopped in on a weekday afternoon. The space is bright and definitely loud, with a lot of excited and energetic kids. The area is really well thought out, with space for younger kids to play, lots of different areas for kids to get their energy out, etc. There are ball pits, obstacle courses, lots of slides and climbing areas, etc. My kids had a blast and my husband and I got a workout chasing them around. Bathrooms are very clean--we went twice in the time I was there and staff were regularly checking in. They provide slippers (since the facility is sock-only) and have child-sized toilet/sink area. My kiddos are bigger so they don't need that kind of thing, but I could see it being helpful for younger ones. read more

Came here with our godson and I cannot rave about this place more! First of all this sounds weird but just for security - we walked in (were waiting for our godson and his mom) and were kindly but immediately asked if we came with a kid. It was clear that if you didn't you weren't allowed there which I really loved out the gate. Second of all everyone that worked here was absolutely LOVELY. Just great with kids (even crying ones, angry ones, you name it). Third of all this place is SUPER clean and there is always someone around cleaning everything constantly. As for the activities - what a great playground. From slides, things to climb, fun games, you name it. It was the perfect place to spend an hour or so. Someone was also having a party there and I couldn't imagine a more fun place for kids to have a party. Please note it is kinda expensive (per hour) but honestly worth it in my eyes. You have to wear grippy socks there (which you can buy), and there are cubbies to put your items in. There are some arcade games as well for little ones that you can buy coins for and a place in the back for food and drinks. All in all a clean and safe place ran by really lovely humans. Will absolutely return. PS for parking it's easiest (in my opinion) to park on the ground level closest to the freeway by the Macys entrance. You then go through Macys (past the perfumes) to the main mall's hallway and take the elevator up and it's right there to your right. Please note for strollers there is an elevator to the left hand side of the perfume area in Macys that will drop you off on the top level. Again you'd take a right and it's right there. read more

We just had my kids birthday at Candeeland and wow what an experience. First off, we wanted to just put a party together that was going to be easy on us and not require much effort on our end. This was exactly what we needed. The party package was well worth the cost, seemed fair to me. The employees were very helpful and allowed us to use their carts to bring our stuff inside. A step back, the process is so clean! They give you a unique link to share with your guests and not only does it allow you to track your guest list but it also helps them sign a waiver which avoids more time at the front desk. The party room was awesome! The room was clean and it smelt nice in there. The tables were just the right amount for my folks and they also have tables outside of the room we used for our guests to utilize. The older gentleman that works there, Indian man. He was quite kind and very welcoming. Kept stopping by to ask us if we need anything. We had fresh hot dominos pizza delivered for the kids and it was delivered in a timely manner so that our guests can eat. I wanted to check out Candeeland. Now I understand why my son always stops himself on the slides when he wears grippy socks. Why do parents need to wear them also? My son loves the ball pit. I was surprised he wasn't that fond of the slide. Maybe because it's big and didn't end in a big ball pit. With the big space, I felt like there should be more for kids to do. We had our daughter's 8th birthday here and it was amazing!!! 3 hrs of fun for the kids, relaxation for the parents and Dominos Pizza for delivery? Yes please!! We booked the strawberry package with the large party room, 40+ kids & parents. You can bring outside food and drinks, we even rolled in our cooler to keep drinks cold. Def recommend extra water, the kids will be sweating and thirty! Package came with socks for everyone, pizza, drinks, coins and a great time. The owners were both amazing, checked in with us frequently and offered cake cutters and a lighter, you know, the little things we forget running out the door. Took my Niece (4) and Nephew (4) here with their Mothers and we had an excellent time! I booked a 2-hr play window in the start of the day. It was everyone's first time there and my nieces reaction to the place was priceless! It was so fun watching them explore and play. My Nephew loved the ball pit, and all of its interactive elements! There is a section for 2-4 year olds which has its own ball pit and soft play. My son had a blast. Truthfully, I saw late teens and adults enjoying themselves all over the playground. For the older patrons, think candy land themed ninja warrior padded obstacle, slides, and ball pits. Probably not a great place for people on the spectrum if they have sensory sensitivities. We went on a Sunday, there were 3 birthday parties but the place still had capacity for more patrons. Staff are friendly for the most part and all equipment seems clean durable. They charge $3 for adult grippy socks. For my son and I, we paid $28. This is the largest indoor playground in North County and arguably the most equipped. We visited Candeeland Wonderpark with our 4-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son, and both had an amazing time. There's something for every age -- from coin-operated rides for littles and claw machines (that are actually winnable!) to endless mazes, obstacles, climbing, sliding, ball pits, jumping, and interactive games. The place is clean, well laid out, full of energy, looks amazing with all the different bright colors and glitter. Two hours flew by so fast, and honestly, our kids could have stayed much longer without running out of things to do. Our 4-year-old kept escaping our grasp and running back into the tunnels and climbing area. Lol. She did not want to leave at all. We eventually did and our arms were full with prizes we won from the claw machines. It's a great spot for the whole family, and we'll definitely be coming back. My kids keep asking to go back the "Candeeland," so we will be heading back there this week. Highly recommend this place. Can't wait for their café and candy shop to open! read more

I took my two children here yesterday. It's really big, nice and clean. They have so many different play areas for the children, a lot of interactive things and they definitely will not get bored. I also really liked that they had a candy station in the front. The only complaint I have is that they offer some food selections, but their food is really gross. Their pizza tasted like plastic, their Dino nuggets are just straight out of the box from Costco, and their fries are not edible. They charge a good price for them too. If they are going to offer food and charge the price that they are, the food should at least be decent. I'm also not a fan of the mall location. Where do I begin? Besides this being an AWESOME place for kids (clean, fun, modern, creative, fairly priced), the owners are truly exceptional people (I'll explain). First off, about the location. We were visiting SD for a few days in October and it happened to be on a rare very rainy day. Searching for something to do with our young child we searched for play rooms. Often, you expect to find a mediocre place with run-down equipment and disorganization. Instead we found Candeeland which is even more awesome in person. The venue is large, brightly lit and super clean. The activities are large and creatively designed for a variety of ages. The price is reasonable and totally worth it if you need to help the kid(s) burn some energy. Our child explored and played for a full two hours. They also have a cafe with good choices (healthy stuff too) for grownups and kids. The bathrooms are clean and they even provide slippers to wear (since you have to take your shoes off in the play area). This keeps the bathroom germs out of the play area. So for all these reasons alone they deserve a 5 star review. And then there is another for us... somehow in the midst of playing in the various activities with our little one, we lost a ring. We didn't even notice we had lost it until a couple days later. At that point we assumed we left it in our hotel and called them but with no success. After a few weeks we assumed the ring was lost forever. Then we got a call from the owners, they had found the ring and went above and beyond to figure out who it belonged to and reached out to us. They were even kind enough to meet us on a day off to give it back. We are so grateful and amazed. Thank you very much Deena and Sam. read more
