Stopped by Kids & Coffee on a short staycation in SD, and it was incredible! The space was so much bigger than we expected and had plenty to do for our kids. Our oldest loved the large play structures and the youngest loved the trampoline and block building area. The cafe team was great and served us quickly, and we were impressed by the number of food items available. The coffee was alright - not amazing - but not terrible. One thing to note if you go is that the café is tucked into a corner so not every seat from the café has a line of site to the play area. And if you have drinks, you have to stay in the café. So if you were planning on having a relaxing coffee, while watching your kids from afar, that is not exactly an option. My only note for improvement would be for the staff to do a little more to help manage particularly physical/destructive children, if/when the parents are not doing enough. When we visited, there was one young child who was running around knocking kids over, knocking over blocks, and just generally being really hyper. That is totally understandable for a young kid, but the parents were nowhere to be found, and the staff clearly looks concerned, but didn't really do anything to help mitigate the situation. read more

Went one time. My kid caught a staph infection and a virus all in one go. Kids get sick and I expect it, but dang. Also, the food was horrid. Coffee wasn't bad. Play structures are cool. My kids had fun, but it definitely wasn't worth the following week (still going) of illness. Tried to work while my kids played. There's one staff member in the play area, who wasn't really monitoring the kids. There also weren't really plugs if you need to charge. My husband and I really like Kids & Coffee and plan to keep coming back. The space is fun and such a great concept for families. However, there are some safety issues that I believe need attention. My main concern is the 24-month-and-under area. During a busy Sunday visit, multiple older, more active children repeatedly ran through the space, jumped into the baby ball pit, climbed over the low walls, jumped down from the turf hill into the baby section, and played very close to crawling infants. One older child accidentally swung one of the baby toys and hit my 8-month-old on the head, knocking him over and causing him to cry. His mom immediately came into the infant section, apologized, and had her child apologize, which I appreciated. What concerned me most was seeing another child climb onto and walk along the wall separating the infant section from the front lobby--not even part of the play structure--and then jump down into the baby area. She accidentally kicked my husband on the way down while he was sitting beside our son. A staff member was standing nearby, clearly saw her walking on the wall, and simply walked away without redirecting her or saying anything. I understand that parents are responsible for supervising their own children. However, during our visit, several parents did not prevent their older children from entering and actively playing in the infant section. When staff directly witness behavior that is clearly unsafe, especially around crawling babies, I would expect them to step in. The current layout also makes the baby area feel like an extension of the larger play space. The low walls, open entrance, connecting tunnel, turf hill, and small age-limit sign--which is only visible from one side--seem to encourage older children to enter, climb, and jump into the area. We genuinely enjoy this place and will continue visiting, but I hope the owners consider clearer signage, more consistent staff redirection during busy periods, and possible future design changes to make the infant area safer and more clearly separated. read more

Best indoor playground I've been to in So Cal so far. The jungle gym, ball pits, trampoline areas are all well kept and safely designed. Most areas have cushions and are padded. It feels safer than other indoor playgrounds we have been to. It can def get crowded when there's a birthday party going on. Multiple hand sanitizers and air purifiers around the place. Staff vacuum regularly. The cafe is a real cafe and serves decent food compared to many other playgrounds. It would be a perfect place if the kitchen and market play areas are better stocked with toys and organized. I've been to a bunch of these kind of places and I definitely think this one is better for younger kids like six or seven and under my friend and I brought her poor little daughter's on a day when their preschool was closed. We were able to work in the coffee area. They have a full breakfast sandwiches and a breakfast menu as well as pizza lunch for kids, snacks, juice, etc. It seemed really clean and wasn't too crowded on a Friday morning. This was my second visit here, and overall I had a good experience. In my opinion, the experience would be even better if the check-in process were a little easier and faster. The play area is very clean and well-maintained, which I really appreciate. I think this concept is best suited for children between 1 and 3 years old. Older kids may get bored after a while since there aren't many activities available for them. The staff members are friendly, helpful, and attentive. They made us feel welcome and were always willing to assist. The drinks were not my favorite, but since the kids get an hour of playtime, I ended up purchasing something while waiting for them to play. I've ordered food and drinks here three times and finally after the last visit, I've decided I won't bother anymore. The woman in front of me today said she waited almost 30 minutes for her latte, and after one sip said it was terrible. I waited 10 minutes for them to heat up a packaged burrito for me, because they forgot about my order almost immediately after I placed it. (there didn't appear to be anyone whose order they were working on ahead of me, and only one person ordered after me). The workers there are young, very kind I must say, but clearly inexperienced, and absolutely in no way in any hurry to get anyone's order out to them. Go for the kids, but skip the coffee. read more

Finally got a chance to experience this amazing concept on a Saturday morning 1015am. Reservations are pretty straightforward online- just make sure you also fill out the waiver online cause if you don't it's quite a hassle trying to do so with excited kids who want to just rush and play. The lobby is small but has kids tables and a few toys to help distract them while you fill out the waiver. Large cubbies are available and can easily fit 4+ shoes, bags, jackets, etc. I love the feeling of cleanliness of the whole place. The large open play area, the various slides and obstacle courses for all ages. The Cafe is a major+ with breakfast items, lunch items, and even adult beverages. You can bring your laptop and somewhat work there if you have to. Only thing missing from making this a 5star in my book, was the staff on the floor seemed blah (no smiles, no hello). Like they had a rough prior night and seemed they needed coffee more than the parents there lol. Definitely a solid 4 star place. Love that you can bring your own slip resistant socks and not forced to buy. But they have socks in stock if your forget and adults can use their own socka. Came in on a Saturday, the previous day I went online and tried making reservations and the website was down. So I figured we could just walk in. Upon arrival we were told we needed reservations when we tried making them again the site was down. It was very difficult for no reason. Staff was nice and trying to be helpful. There is no coffee allowed in the kids area which defeats the whole purpose of kids and coffee? If you get a coffee you need to drink it in the cafe area but it's so cramped and small. This random find out mine was easy to get in, even though we walked in without reservations. Very friendly staff and clean open space. Lots of spaces for my 2 year old and 6 year old to play without getting tired of the areas. It was our first time and only booked an hour- I quickly realized 2 hours woulda been perfect. We were on our way out of town- it was the perfect way to get the energy out of the boys on a hot day, in a nice cool environment. Lots of cubby spaces for our personal belongings, sanitizer available and good size bathrooms. The coffee shop was THE best part for me of course! They had so many GOOD adult beverage options (both non alcoholic and alcoholic) in addition to very satisfying food and snacks for kiddos. Great view for most part of the play area from the cafe but also books to get work done if need be. Everything was very well priced including the socks for the whole family, entry and food/drinks. Everything seemed very carefully and thoughtfully planned out! Also- cherry on top was th calming and adult vibe music! Not the regular old kid (sometimes over stimulating) music, they played my favorite band LOCAL NATIVES that you almost never hear anywhere amongst many other no less than amazing artists. 5 stars for the space, design and activities for the kids. It's awesome. But for the price and what they charge they should have more workers keeping up with the facility. The bathrooms were disgusting, the pretend play areas didn't really have any of the toys in them. The ball puts had the hard lego type building blocks in them. I literally found myself cleaning up like at home organizing the place. And there was zero enforcement of the baby area. Big kids playing in there. Bravo to the owners of this establishment! We trekked from OC to Carlsbad to let the kiddos burn energy and this did not disappoint. We made reservations online and filled out the waiver prior to entering which made the process smooth and quick. *Reminder to all parents, bring grip socks for kids and have regular socks for yourself! The establishment is large and clean. There's a play area for 24 months and under, as well as structures for kids ranging from 3-10 years old. They have mini kitchens and grocery store and had music time going on when we arrived. My kids loved the songs and musical instruments that they were allowed to play with. The ball pits and slides were a big hit! This place has was well though out. They have complimentary diapers ranging from sizes 1-5, bathroom shoes, step stools for hand washing, a coffee shop inside, a nursing room, a quiet room aka "the comfort room" and little books and crannies for everyone to go through. My kids were loving every bit of it and it didn't feel cramped. AMAZING!!! Went for a playdate and birthday party for my 6-year-old. My 9-year-old was tagging along and was fully prepared to hunker down with a book while the little kids played. But both girls had a blast running around their play structures. The owners really thought of everything from making sure everything is padded, to having a great space for parties and classes, to having a quiet room when the kids are sensory overloaded and need a mini time out. Since the facility is shoeless, they even have slippers to borrow when going into the restrooms! And extra diapers in case someone runs out. So thoughtful!!! Oh and there is a grabber machine. My girls LOVE those. We all enjoyed lunch thoroughly. I highly recommend their eggs and bacon sandwich with avocado - hot, fresh, and delicious. Their pizza is made locally and the crust is nice and crusty as it should be. I love the options for mimosas or beer, but I found their coffee to be absolutely delightful! Love the decor and aesthetics, the modern calming color choices are so nice, and everything is clean! It's a pretty big space so there's a good variety of climbing and jumping activities for the kids! There are 2 play houses with foods and grocery, a small trampoline, big ball pit with slides, a rope bridge, rock climbing walls, climbing towers, monkey bar rings and blocks! 2 hours went by quickly and my kids loved playing. This place is cute and clean. I did appreciate that you can make reservations; however, you cannot do any walk ins unless you make a reservation first. The day we went was a spur of the moment decision and didn't make reservations in advance. We walked in and was told we wouldn't be able to enter unless reservations were made and then paid. The staff was nice but I was a little frustrated since my phone for some reason wasn't able to access the website and I had to ask the staff to use their phone. After 15 mins and signing the waiver, we were able to enter. Since it was a midweek afternoon, the place wasn't busy so our kids enjoyed the light crowds. When early evening hit was when it started to get busier. The place was clean and structures were new. It's a great place to spend a couple hours with the kids if you plan on going. There's a small cafe available to purchase snacks and drinks onsite. You would need to stay in the designated area, however. This place is hidden in the industrial area of Carlsbad, so look out for the small signs otherwise you may miss it! read more

My daughter LOVES Kids and Coffee! I honestly wish we still lived in San Diego so she could come more often! We got a gift card and finally came down to San Diego to visit family and got a chance to use it. The place is clean and very aesthetic. My husband ran around with our daughter while I got some work done in the cafe. But just a warning if you need a quiet cafe to take a call this isn't the location for you. The bathrooms were so dirty that I ended up changing my baby's diaper in the nursing room instead. The baby area, which is supposed to be for children 24 months and under, is consistently crowded with much older kids running and jumping around. My 8-month-old was nearly knocked over twice because there doesn't seem to be any enforcement of the age limit. There was also a child running around unsupervised who repeatedly grabbed other guests' belongings, including my cellphone. I could barely take a picture of my kids to send to my husband. The pricing was also confusing and disappointing. I paid $30 for the initial two hours, but when I asked to extend our visit by just one additional hour, I was charged $35?? I really want to continue bringing my children here because they enjoy it, but the cleanliness, lack of supervision, and confusing pricing have made the experience much less enjoyable. For 1 kid + 3 adults came out to be $50 for 2 hours. The location is located next to a church & super easy go find. Parking is plenty. They have a good size lobby & shoe/bag area, and you can locate the cafe inside. Location is perfect for 2-3 year olds and plenty of room for everyone without it feeling too crowded. The high ceilings are nice. Bathrooms are big and clean with the changing pad in the last stall of the womans not sure about dads side. They provided huggies diapers in a few sizes. I like how the adults can wear regular socks, i know some establishments require parents to have grippy socks too. I wish they did check temperatures and grippy socks for extra safety.. there were a few kids coughing and having sniffles. The good: This is the best kids cafe I've been to in the states! We got a dino nuggets meal with a side and juice box for $8. The side options included pretzels, fruits or gold fish. I also got a spring seasonal latte that was lemon yuzu flavored with a cookie butter (?) base. I loved how spacious the space was and airy. There was a giant ceiling fan and the entire floor was cushioned and clean. They have a ball sanitizing machine. I saw workers wiping down toys one by one as well. I loved all of the climbing areas and how the climbing spaces were wide so adults could fit in but also aesthetically pleasing with calm/neutral shades. There's a toddler area as well for kids under 2. There's also a baby bouncer and foam mats you can take out for little ones. They had lots of snack options for kids and adults. There was plenty of parking in the parking lot. This place is located in a business area so it feels private/secluded. The shoe shelf area was really large and spacious especially compared to other play spaces I've been to. The bad: I wish this was closer to where I lived! The interesting: Food and drinks must be consumed in the dining area. I think a larger dining area would be good but we didn't have a problem because we came on a Monday and it wasn't crowded at all. read more

This is like a kids dream fort play area. If I was a kid still I would love this place. They have a mini trampoline area with soft Lego like blocks for building. They have restaurant/store buildings to the left after the coffee food area for parents. The floor is fully matted so even if there is a small slip kids won't get hurt. Before the bathrooms have a slipper section to use while here. This is convenient as they as you to put your shoes away prior to entering the play area. I saw this place on instagram and immediately wanted to take my son -- who is at the age that he can enjoy these activities! We came on a Saturday morning and even though there's a whole parking lot, it was almost full. It was an easy process to check-in and store our items/shoes. You can really tell that Vivian and Ken have put a lot of thought and care into creating something uniquely wonderful for families to enjoy. There are so many play spaces to choose from. A small house and market lets kids pretend play and apply life skills. A designated area for babies 0-2 offers a cozier, quieter corner for the littles. There's a miniature trampoline surrounded with soft blocks and shapes. But the main attraction is the gigantic indoor jungle gym! I love the variety of materials used and the plethora of designs for climbing, tunneling, balancing, jumping, sliding, and playing. It feels endless in the route options, and continuously delightful. In addition to being fun, everything was safe (i.e., cushioned, rounded edges) and clean. Bonus points that adults can fit, and are encouraged, to join in the play! We were here for an epic birthday celebration. The private rooms in the back are huge, with furniture to accommodate both adults and kiddos alike. Decor was incredible and they even had Princess Anna come perform magic, tell stories, do face painting, and lead a dance party. I saw some previous Yelp reviewers unsure about the bathroom arrangement, but I found the clean crocs were a creative solution. It reminded me of Asian spas. There is an array of clean crocs (in adult and child sizes) available for use to slip on before going to the restroom. This keeps the play space clean, and keeps our socks from touching the restroom floor. Make sure you have reservations, and read the waivers and rules before attending. Outside food is permitted in the front lobby if you have dietary restrictions, but the cafe has a great selection of drinks and snacks. There is plenty of parking in the private lot. Check-in is a smooth process, and they have a sitting area right inside the lobby with lots of cubbies for shoes. Overall, it's a great location for indoor fun for families with small children. Also highly recommend for parties and events, for which they have amazing amenities for any celebration. We will absolutely be returning with family and friends. Found it on instagram and immediately knew my boys would love it... same day reservations are tough, but managed to make some a week in advance for Mother's Day weekend and got in with no issue The spot itself is fairly easy to find, parking was fine, and the staff were all very friendly! Boys jumped around for hours, ate snacks, painted in their little back craft area, and we even got caricatures done! stunning 10/10 experience at kids and coffee! with all of the instagram marketing and higher pricing, i had pretty high expectations. and they met, every. single. one. they have spared no expense making the space beautiful, comfortable, clean, and even homey?? i brought my 5 year old daughter here for a play date with a family friend (6), neither of us had been. we made a reservation online the same day with zero issues (weekday). we had a 3:30 reservation and the place was almost empty! however i am so glad they limit the # of people to keep the place from feeling overcrowded like others in the area (PC) the staff were so friendly and smiling the second we walked in. they made my daughter feel welcomed and happy. the crocs to walk to the bathroom is key! there is nothing worse than walking in water in socks. they provides crocs for parents and kids to use while using the bathroom. the play area is not only stunning visually, but my daughter was playing for hours! she wanted to stay all night. the ball pit with the sea life stuffed animals is the cutest touch. finally - the CAFE !! i actually don't drink coffee and opted for a smoothie instead, which was incredible. they don't have many options but the service was quick and the ambiance is everything. i want to come back just to sit in the cafe! thank you kids and coffee, we will be back. read more

Kids and coffee is such a cute aesthetic place. Love that there is a coffee shop in there. One thing that is frustrating though is you can not take your coffee out of the cafe. So you can't enjoy it while the kids play. It's a little frustrating as it's not really known until you get there. Not cheap... but value for money. Still clean considering the traffic that goes in and out of the venue since it's November 2024 opening (per owner). Owners were there enjoying playtime as well with their two daughters. Ideal for special occasions with grandchildren. The equipment will keep the littles busy and happy. Two ropes were broken which I told two staff. Hope they fixed those coz kids can fall or slip through those big gaps. Try this place out. Saw this place advertised on Instagram and finally got to check it out with my hubby and 2 kids ages one and seven. You must make reservations online- even for the adults. I like that they limit capacity although it was still quite busy when we went. We were promptly greeted and checked in Hubby was impressed with the size and play gyms. He disliked the steepness of the grassy area and the foam block edges in the 0-3 area could be rounded instead of squared for safety. My 7 year old said it was a lot fun. She mostly enjoyed climbing and going through the tunnels as well as the slide. She unfortunately discovered one of the tunnels had feces smeared on it. Staff was quick to clean it up when we reported it and comped us a cup of coffee and some pretzels for our inconvenience, which was nice. I wonder if people are really not watching their kids?! Anyway, she said she wished she could jump on the trampoline like her little sister. She also noticed the Little Rock climbing area that was still un de construction, showing an interest to try that. The baby was sketched out at first but enjoyed the sensory area, the 0-3 area and just playing in the ball pit at the base of the large slides. Coffee shop has oat milk as the non-dairy option and lattes were good. Snacks and bottled drinks available for purchase. There were lots of seating and tables in the cafe area. Overall, fun place for kids (may be a little exhausting for parents with young children as they try to run around with their kids). Two hours is a good amount of time for play. I think we were there for about an hour and a half. We will likely return in the future.
