It's a clean candy store. Customer service was not helpful at all. I waited about 10 minutes to get helped in getting a few chocolates and some ice cream. There was no line, I was the only one in line. Not sure what employees were doing, for sure not paying attention to customers. My son grabbed some airheads and those were super expensive for a small bag. It is on cannery row and in a touristy spot so I'm sure that's why the prices are a bit higher. Such a fun place to stop by- even if it means simply browsing. CandyLand is located on Cannery Row, in the heart of Monterey, offering an abundance of sweets. Everywhere you turn, the store is filled to the brim with mounds and mounds of candy. This little shop is on Cannery Row and is pretty packed. While the vibe is cute the store is small and cramped. There is bulk candy and taffy as well as fudge and hand dipped chocolates. Nothing is made there but it looks good. Unfortunately even though you know that rent can't be cheap, the candy is ridiculously overpriced. Even for a shop in a tourist trap. It's eye candy. I mean that literally. It's a cool candy store that specializes in salt water taffy...every flavor you can think of in these huge barrels. Remember, this store is located at the wharf so it's a tourist trap. The taffy is really yummy but you will pay a hefty price for it. They charge by weight. Stopped in CandyLand last weekend while we were in the area visiting family, and had the yummiest treats. While every that we got was delicious (1 piece of s'mores fudge, 1 chocolate covered pretzel, and 1 peanut butter cup, it was super expensive. I mean we spent almost $20!!! Yes our treats were really good, but $20 good...I am not sure. The assortment of candy is ridiculous though. There is so much to choose from. They have everything from gummy candy, to salt water taffy, to handmade chocolates, and everything in between. Also, the customer service is meh. The young lady working only spoke to us when we went to pay, and it seemed as though we were bothering her. I like visiting this store when I'm in Monterey because I know I can find Bit O'Honey candy pieces here as well as the peanut butter crunch pieces. It's more expensive to buy candy here by the pound. The woman managing this store is a witch. I walked in and heard her talking bs to her young employees complaint about someone getting married. It was a nice photo of because it's bright and lots of old school candy options. Overpriced but it's California Coast so I'm used to it. My daughter wanted a candy necklace and when it broke in the doorway as I put it on her neck, the manager frowned at me. The fiancé and I had brunch around the area and wanted to explore a bit before heading to our next destination. We stumbled upon CandyLand, and although we had no intentions of buying any sweets, we headed inside just to check the store out for fun. The shop is huge with a ton of salt water taffys in many flavors imaginable. There are also other types of candies, gummies, chocolates, along with a few toys and gadgets for the kiddos. Prices are a bit steep, but I think it's expected due to it's touristy location. Lastly, although I didn't interact with any staff members, I did overhear a conversation she was having with another customer, and all I can say is that it wasn't very pleasant. Overall, a fun and colorful candy shop to check out if you are in the area. I shopped here with my boyfriend on March 23, 2024 we decided to stop by. Only to be yelled at by the EXTREMELY rude, bitter, older lady working the cashier. Terrible experience I do not recommend. It's a very bad look because all of the other shops at cannery row everyone is extremely sweet welcoming and kind. I was extremely disappointed. If you do decide to walk in there good luck to you! She will yell at you for not being on the right side of the line? There is no sense of direction or signs indicating the "RULES" and the cashier also made rude inappropriate remarks as my boyfriend was paying very unnecessary. The fudge was very low quality it tasted cheap like dirt chocolate or something. I recommend Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory instead which is across the street. read more

Came here to get salt water taffy. If you are bringing a stroller (double) you will have a hard time to maneuver and it would be best to leave it outside. This place is located near bubba gumps and inside this small building. They have a good amount of salt water taffy with different flavors. They have gummy and jelly beans to pick from to other various hard/soft candy the kids can pick from. They have an icee machine, serve ice cream and have other various of snacks behind the counter. My gripe is seeing tourist using their fingers in pulling out the candy from the bins when there are thongs/scoops to pick from. After seeing a tourist put his hand in to grab the gummy sharks I was a little disgusted and just decided that we would only get wrapped candy here. This is the only place that has all the jelly belly flavors that I love--Snapple, Chocolate Pudding, and Snapple. They also have my childhood favorite--Sour Nerds! With so many businesses struggling to stay afloat and so many wonderful candy shops in Monterey, please consider going to another shop more off the beaten path and happy to have your business. I was treated very rudely by the cashier who made chastising remarks to me after I asked if I could get half the candy in from my 3 year olds bucket (her uncle had taken her around the store) until I payed for my kids' candy and left. She kept making snide remarks to me and I was honestly so taken aback as it happened that I continued to pay and leave. I wish I had stopped and gone elsewhere to support a business more in need. Then along the walls, there are jelly belly dispensers, M and M dispensers, chocolate covered gummis, chocolate covered raisins, cotton candy licorice,......... Like other candy shop along SF Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, you grab a basket, fill it with goodies, weigh it, pay it. Some novelty items are individually priced. They also have fudge, icees, sodas, and Dreyer's ice cream. Next to Claire's 10 items for $5 sale, my daughters spent a long time in this store. First off let me say that I know CandyLand is located in a high traffic tourist destination. I am very well aware of why the prices at many boutiques/restaurants cost a tad more than in other areas of Monterey. However, there's no justification in the outrageously high price on their candy. I've bought candy at Fisherman's Wharf in SF for less and, frankly, it is a MUCH nicer tourist spot than Cannery Row. I also know the candy store located in Seaport Village in SD has lower prices as well. CandyLand is a total rip off. I was appalled when my total came up at $16 for the limited amount of candy I picked up.
