After searching through reviews online, I decided to go into the spa for an initial consultation before buying the Gilt City. The spa informed me that I would be a good candidate for the procedure based on my skin and skin regimen, and I decided to buy the Gilt City package. After the consultation and before the IPL, I was instructed to stop retin-a and other actives, which I followed precisely. Right after the session, I saw a darkening of my forehead, which got a little worse. Worried, I chatted with the therapist, who informed me that I should wait for four weeks. Fast forward through four weeks of a darkened and splotchy forehead, which foundation would not cover up, I went into the spa to speak with the doctor. Seeing my skin and after a few minutes of discussion, the doctor said he would refund my treatment. I was beyond happy about this, because even though it was a Gilt City, it was still a large expense where I wasn't happy with the results. I return to the reception area, where I am informed that I actually cannot get a refund because I bought the deal through a Gilt City. They pushed back at my request and told me that Gilt City takes 60% of the cost, and therefore I cannot be refunded any money (despite what the doctor had stated). Instead they said that my few minutes with the doctor was enough compensation for the adverse effects of the treatment. The doctor prescribed retin-a, which I have no need for because I was already using it before IPL. I left disappointed in how I was treated, broken down, and weary. I walked away saying that I did not see the point of arguing if they did try to understand where I, the customer, was coming from. If I wasn't a good candidate for IPL because of using retin-a, I should have been informed this. I am skincare fanatic and was very happy to find a spa right in my neighborhood, where I could develop a relationship with knowledgeable staff and improve my skincare needs. Unfortunately, this simple problem should have been handled with more respect and good customer service. My advice: save your money if you're considering a Gilt City deal. I should've just stuck with my retin-a and regular skincare regimen. read more

I go to Cane + Austin for laser hair removal. So far the results have been good. Lyuba is the technician who performs the service and is detail oriented and incredibly kind. Her calm energy and thoughtful nature definitely make the experience a bit more bearable as laser hair removal is already uncomfortable. Overall the space is very clean and well kept and I have never had any issues with appointments. They are always on time and confirm via e-mail. She does a great job! I do agree with some of the comments. There is a gentleman who works there who can be quite short, if not rude, when asking questions. Also I find it incredibly inappropriate that he knocks on the door during your service. This has happened to me several times. It makes me extremely uncomfortable. It feels like he is trying to rush your appointment and it is very disturbing. I've heard him become incredibly annoyed with other customers over the phone for what seemed to be someone asking for clarification on their question. He as speaking so fast even I couldn't understand what he was saying. But he doesn't perform the service so that's something. read more

I had the same experience as Cat L. Worst customer service ever. I tried to reschedule an appointment for a laser hair removal days in advance and Ian was so rude. As I was trying to figure out their availability for my service, he said Lyuba is only available on my original appointment day and time, and that's it. He then told me that he can't really help me at the moment as he was getting ready to leave; best he could do is to send me an email of Lyuba's schedule. So, I said I'll just call some other time to reschedule since he's leaving now. Ian replied with, "I can't really deal with this right now because I have other patients waiting here." Few hours later I got a call from Lyuba and she wanted to cater to my availability but I decided to just keep the original schedule to avoid confusion. Fast forward to appointment day and time, I had to call up Lyuba on her personal number because the clinic is closed and she is nowhere to be found. She said she didn't see my name on the schedule and that she was still at home. Waste of time, money, and effort. Avoid this place at all cost. read more

First appointment was absolutely amazing! I had Classpass credits I needed to use, and I've been wanting a facial (it's a luxury that hasn't been a priority, but now I totally want one every 6 weeks!!!). They even emailed me about a cancellation and offered to accommodate me earlier! I really appreciate how nice they were considering I booked this through classpass. In my experience I've found using deal vouchers and even CP for gyms they are not as attentive because they assume you won't be back/don't have money to become a regular. So, THANK YOU! Lyuba was such a knowledgeable and kind aesthetician. She knew EXACTLY what my skin needed. Normally you have to answer a bunch of questions about your skin history but she's incredibly good at her job and took one look and nailed my skin type and all my concerns. She recommended what type of products I should be using (chemical wipes, spf) but didn't try to force any of their products on me which I really appreciated. I enjoyed talking to her and can't wait to go back. I left with incredibly smooth and glowing skin! I'm returning in two weeks for a few laser treatments and am excited to see the results! I was hesitant at first to try a new spa for a facial but had the absolute best experience. I was completely relaxed and loved how Michelle understood my skin needs, and the experience was personalized. Michelle knew exactly what I needed. What I found to be most professional was that she wasn't just trying to pitch the spas products, unlike a lot of other estheticians. I will definitely be back for regular facials!!! read more

If you like being talked down to, for no reason, this is the place for you. I made the mistake of asking for a glass of water, I got a small warm plastic cup like at the dentist office. Next person who came in was brought a bottle of water even though she seemed indifferent. What was the point of that? The man at the reception desk could not have make this a less pleasant experience if he was trying. The reception area was dirty which made it uncomfortable for me once I went into the treatment room. I did not have any confidence in the aesthetician, nor did she seem to have any knowledge of the products she was using when I asked. I won't even get it to the attitude I was given when I told the receptionist boy that if tips are requiring cash, you should let people know in advance. I'm pretty surprised to see some of the gnarly reviews on here, but I can only speak to the hydrafacial I had with Maria. She was amazing! I was nervous my face was going to look like a total disaster afterwards because the extractions were probably the most painful I've ever had, but I left looking pretty great (which I never expect to see immediately after a facial). My pores were declogged & overall my skin was way more hydrated. This review is based on more the professionalism of the employees than services rendered. I purchased a groupon for laser hair removal treatmen, and after 2 of 8 treatments I'm not going back. First, while I was in the process of laser hair removal the aesthetician asks me to help her daughter get a job. Super uncomfortable! Additonally, this office lacks respect for their patients and their time. I booked an appointment, and the day before my appointment they left me a voicemail saying my appointment time "would not work," and offered a different time. Annoying but no big deal. I then see I have an appointment on their booking app for said different time, which I never agreed to. I cancelled it and booked for another day that works for me. Immediately after I receive a scathing email from Ian, about their cancellation policy (pay a fee or wait 6 weeks to reschedule) and am scolded for cancelling 3 times in the last 24 hours (WHAT?). I responded and explained the situation, and I receive a reply back from Ian with no apology for his rude response and not acknowledging the confusion and annoyance their office has inflicted upon me. They also tell me I can no longer book using their app because it causes overbookings.. not sure how I should be penalized for what sounds to be an schedule management problem? If it's. problem then no longer offer it! Not sure if this is how they treat all of their patients or if this is special treatment they reserve for Groupon customers. I had my first consultation yesterday with Dr. Austin and I loved it. The medical assistant who helped him was the nicest and I loved her as well. The office has a gorgeous decor and I can't wait to continue my treatment with them. I've been to so many dermatologist and they usually rush you out and don't explain anything, but Dr.. Austin and the staff were so helpful and explained to me everything that I needed to do. UPDATE 08/15 I just finished my second facial with Lyuba and she's amazing. She makes you feel so at home and she knows exactly what she's doing. I loved her and will always get my facials with her. She's a pro and cares so much about your skin. I purchased a Groupon here for laser-hair removal and was worried I would be treated like a Groupon user, however every person I met was welcoming, professional, and upbeat. The office is clean and smart-looking and run by a dermatologist from Mt. Sinai, who gave me a tour of the place--which includes a beautiful outdoor patio (too cold to enjoy for now). When I got in the room, I was worried about the pain from the laser and received extra cold gel which drastically reduced the pinching sensation. Got an amazing medical facial today. The extractions were thorough, sometimes I feel like during a facial I will just get a few on my nose and chin, but my aesthetician (her name was Lyuba and I LOVED her) spent a LONG time on them. My pores felt so clean afterwords. My face was dewy and healthy looking. My experience was top notch and I really recommend Cane + Austin to anyone who is looking for a MUCH more than basic facial. I called to schedule an appt with a voucher and the man on the phone wouldn't even let me schedule something saying they were closing at 2pm, when their hours spell out a different story. He said the woman had been there since 8am, but it says they don't even open until 12pm. He was incredibly rude and condescending making up his own rules about how vouchers work. When I called Gilt to tell them what happened they said the way I was treated by this office was horrible and that they will look into the matter. Maria took wonderful care of me for an IPL facial. She took her time explaining the procedure with an initial consultation and patch test and was extremely attentive during the laser treatment. The treatment room was spotless and comfortable, and I left with some products post-treatment which are supposed to shorten recovery. At first, my freckles became super dark, and then they gradually disappeared. After a week, the difference is dramatic. I will be coming back for a regular facial with Maria to help maintain results. Okay. After years of searching, I finally got a facial at a place that seems worth returning to. You know those facials where the esthetician keeps slathering random cleansers and lotions on your face with seemingly no logic behind it? This is NOT one of those facials. Lyuba took a good look at my skin and was able to pinpoint my issues right away. Everything she did had a specific reason to it, from the extractions to the lymphatic massage to the glycolic treatments. She was so nice and friendly and I loved the facial so much that I scheduled a recurring appointment to come back every 6 weeks. I'm also excited to schedule a consultation with Dr. Austin to talk about more medical-related treatments. I highly recommend this lovely office and their staff and can't wait to go back. read more

I had a heart attack today because I received an invoice of $650 in the mail for something that was ALREADY PAID FOR in April of 2018! LAST YEAR! THEY ARE CHARGING ME TWICE. They never emailed or called me but mailed me a letter after all this time?!! And what's more is I paid them in full with a gilt voucher! I have this on record and this is fraud that they're trying to be manipulate customers into paying double. I still have all my gilt voucher numbers and receipts along with taxi records that I went to the exact location for my appointment. I also have email records with the cane Austin staff and I specifically told them I was using the gilt voucher in writing and made the appointment. It is clear in email. I also called gilt city directly and they say you guys claimed the voucher and there should be no problems. YOU GUYS SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS. Also, the voucher states I can have a complimentary touchup and I never took advantage of that either. I had to go through all of my emails, phone records, credit card statements and taxi records to find proof to protect myself from your fraudulent charges. Because obviously you guys can just mail me an invoice from a year ago without double checking and not take responsibility for it. My weekend was totally ruined! I will be suing and you will hear from my lawyer. read more

I received a trip-polar radio frequency treatment from Lyuba. I could not be happier with the results. My skin looks fresh and I look younger. Ian did a great job scheduling my appointment and Lyuba gave me a thorough and rewarding treatment. Highly recommend Cane + Austin. This review is for GILT chemical peel promotion. I've had a few chemical peels done before so I know what to expect, trust GILT even though I don't usually purchase deals. Scheduling was easy, it's a good location, clean place. However, what I got was a waste of time, some extractions and tonic. The technician even said, oh this is not like a real chemical peel, it's a light one. She put on something that felt like a tonic at the end and nothing happened. I have had to buy and apply pimple cream nightly (which I don't even own bc I have not had a pimple since I was a teenager). I am so upset.
