I needed boxing gloves since I take a class, a women's sports bra in black, (was on clearance rack 50% off). Not too shabby. I also needed a folding chair that I can use to sit outside. I found the exact chair in the color that I was looking for. It was $15 NOT/including tax. It even has a cup holder which is a plus. I also needed a Foam Roller for my back. Got that too. Last, but not least, I needed 2 and half pound dumbbells. They had pink and black. I went with the pink color. That's all I needed from this store yesterday. Everything was nicely organized, got a very nice welcome from 2 of their employees, store was clean with decent sized parking lot, and they did have a bathroom. Love Big 5. He knew his stuff, put in a lot of care towards being helpful, and pointed me in the right direction with everything i needed. Not to mention, he's personable and FULL of good vibes, while being super professional at the same time. I couldn't be happier with my visit and am compelled to go back just cause of him. Two guys including the mgr are just standing around chitchatting while a frustrated obvious newbie learning as he takes longer than usually to replace the tire and tube on one tire. I ask if one of the guys chitchatting could do the other tire so as to be more efficient. He just kept asking me to sit down and he'll be done in 10 minutes. He obviously was not used to changing tire tubes. It costs $48 for the labor!!! I am currently w/a strained back. Such a rip off. I could have gone to bike kitchen and done it there with help. I foolishly thought getting it done at REI would be faster and with good customer service-I was very wrong. Recommend giving your business to local bike shops!

I may have tossed them during my last Spring Clean in 2008.... Realizing this at 10pm, I jumped on the Big 5 website to see if they had any inventory. As luck would have it thy were posting their end-of-the-season clearance and a perfect pair was in stock. I had budgeted $60-$80 for a new pair, so I was surprised and a tad bit skeptical when I saw a perfect pair of Denali brand for just $30. Next day, I drove down, parked in the large lot and entered, being greeted cheerfully as soon as I walked in. I headed back to shoes, found the pair of Denali's on the wall and within a couple of minutes an employee asked how he could help. I noticed he had been assisting other customers and could hear his patient, professional and cheerful demeanor with each one. After asking for the shoe, he quickly popped off to the back and retrieved my size. Perfect fit and the reinforced toe, which my pointy little elf feet require, was as good as the online picture showed. SCORE! After peeking around the clearance racks, I grabbed some sports bras, further discounted another 25% off, a pocket bug spray for hikes and "after bite" as impulse purchases. Made my way back up to the front, to the pleasant young lady who initially greeted me, paid for my items and out the door I went. So nice to have this dependable business located so close. Big5 has been around my whole life and I have always found something needed at a great price and helpful employees. The store could use a bit of cleaning. Stuff is often out of place or mixed up, but still in the same department which I guess is good. In all, Big 5 is a great option for your youth sports needs. And this is the best one on the area.

I knew fleet feet had a great supply and the ability to measure mama's sore feet. So, mama is a five time cancer survivor and warrior. Unfortunately she had a large mass on her toe which prevented her from being able to walk without a boot, which after months leads to body pain throughout. Her poor foot and ankle always hurt, and swelled up real bad. She had pain throughout her body from the imbalance and reliance on crutches. I didn't think we could find a pair of hokas that would fit, and even better actually heal her feet. Then we came in and met Dan, the kindest most knowledgeable specialist we could have hoped for. He was patient and supportive at every step, through mama's laser measurements- which are amazing and they email them to you if requested. Then he began the work, we tried 4 great recommendations but alas none fit, all too tight around the ankle. But Dan wasn't done, he looked at the measurements and put in an order for a men's size in extra wide trusting it would fit- and if they didn't we could exchange within 30days. Four days later, my mom put on her first pair of shoes that fit in over a year. Im in tears of thanksgiving. To see her walking in a new pair of hokas, with proper balance and arch support. She's so excited and we are forever grateful. Also, they didn't try to sell me the most expensive pair, they had an awesome shoe that was less than what I expected!
