I've come here for their "Tuesday Half Price Pizza" and "Wednesday $15 Pasta" and I enjoyed the ambiance, food and the service. The restaurant is spread throughout 3 levels and an outdoor patio. The bar is located on the ground floor and the kitchen is on the second floor, where you can watch the chef making pizza in front you. The below ground floor is mainly intended for larger groups or private events. We tried "Gorgonzola" and "Mortadella" from the pizza menu and "Spaghetti Cacio E Peppe", "Linguini Primavera" and "Rigatoncini" from the pasta menu. Came here for happy hour and really enjoyed our experience here. The service here is great. Very attentive and polite. They're patient and gave us good suggestions for pairing. We had both their house wines. Their red wasn't anything special but pleasant. Their white was our favorite. Very nice clean taste with a buttery finish you'd get from more expensive chardonnay. The pizza here was the star. Great cruise and flavor with fresh ingredients. I like ordering arinchini when they're on the menu because I never deep fry at home and CIBO does a good job of it. Attended a holiday dinner at Cibo last week, we were in a private dining room on the lower level. The restaurant is designed very well with a lot of detail, great seating and large bars. Staff are attentive, friendly as well as knowledgeable about the menu and wines . For our group we had a selection of appetizers - salad, polenta, pizza , calamari and eggplant , for mains - Gnocchi, Risotto, pasta as well as chicken parmigiana and desserts. TL;DR: A server raised his voice at me over a minor issue, and Cibo ignored my follow-up message. During my visit, the server aggressively demanded my ID when I ordered wine. When I explained I only had my health card, he rudely cut me off and raised his voice, which I found both disrespectful and unprofessional. This made me feel uncomfortable and undervalued as a customer. I understand that not being able to offer alcohol due to an invalid ID is standard policy, and I respect that. However, what I found disappointing was being condescendingly lectured (aka MANSPLAINED) about the law. To make matters worse, no alternatives (i.e, non-alcoholic drinks) were offered, and other tables (coincidentally white customers) received far better service from the SAME server. Additionally, he gave us the wrong dish initially and did not apologize. He did not offer pepper/cheese or check in with us throughout our meal . Meanwhile, he was so friendly with the other tables. Came here for a friend's birthday. Service was a bit slower than what I expected. The food was just okay considering the price point we paid. My partner and I shared a pasta dish and Caesar salad. I have been to this restaurant twice. Service was really great both times. First time I got the prosciutto pizza as a lunch meal and took half home. Second time I got the Peach Bellini with sparkling wine which was delightful, the carpaccio app and the Margherita pizza. If the carpaccio came with capers, would have been 5 stars but was just missing something to the flavour. The pizza was fantastic. Served hot and split it with another person so we could eat the whole thing. Overall, my only gripe is price as it is a fairly expensive date night, however, as this restaurant is located in Yorkville it is to be expected - 4 stars. read more

Cibo was a pretty standard Italian restaurant in the Yorkville area. Our reservation for 4 was honored and we were promptly seated when we arrived. Our server was very busy so we had long waiting periods to get our food, to pay our bill or to get our drinks refilled. This is one reason for the reduced rating. The food was pretty good and the portion sizes were also great. However the other issue was the size of the bill. I thought our bill was quite high for the service and food that was received. It didn't seem too busy on a Friday evening - we were able to nab a reservation earlier that day. I ordered the mushroom truffle tagliatelle, which for some reason was very salty (unfortunate because this is typically my favourite pasta). One of my friends ordered her pasta with chicken, but it came with shrimp. At this point, we had been waiting for quite some time, so she opted not to send it back. The service is definitely a hit or miss depending on what time of the day you come and how large your party is. I have to say that my most recent visit, which was last week, went perfectly fine for a Friday lunch. It was surprisingly not busy that day and we were able to get our food quickly. We called for our server to order food and she said she would be right back but then forgot...ordered the grilled octopus and a mushroom Truffle tagliatelle. What a disappointment... the grilled octopus was so overcooked and burnt that it was far from tender. It was almost not edible and i found a huge piece of shell in one of them... the mushroom tagliatelle had decent flavor however the noodles was so thick. My wife and I were part of a wedding party in a downstairs room. It was a little crowded but overall a nice environment. The food was fantastic. We had a special events set of eleven dishes starting with Polenta Fries, and proceeding through Arancini, Funghi, Grilled Octopus (the leg not the usual rings), Polpetinne (a little spicy), Gnocchi, Lobster stuffed Ravioli, Orecchiette, Chianti braised short ribs, Pollo Parmigiana, and ending with Salmone Fresco Atlantico. My 2 stars for this place are based solely on the fact that their patio in Yorkville is nice, and I feel like I'm dining in luxury on that patio. Beyond that, I don't think this place offers much, especially when there are other great Italian places right around the corner. We ordered the seafood linguine and the margherita pizza. The seafood linguine was ok, nothing special. My major qualm is with their margherita pizza. If you look at my pics (or anyone's pics) you'll see that this is nothing like a margherita pizza. It's essentially a cheese pizza from Pizza Pizza with a couple basil leaves on it. When I asked my waitress why my pizza looked nothing like a margherita pizza, she said "We're not the most authentic place." That was a very strange response to me, considering their website/branding says that they're authentic. I don't mind their price points if the food were better, especially given that this is in Yorkville. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Their patio is nice if that's what you're looking for. (3.5 rounded to a 4) I've been to this CIBO location multiple times and can say that I have had mostly positive experiences. The only "bad" visit I had was when I was seated at the bar stools near the patio door and it was FREEZING. I think my friends and I had to keep our jackets on the entire meal. Try to get a table upstairs in the main dining area if you can. The atmosphere here is pretty upscale and casual. Their food here is quite delicious - I usually order a pasta and split a few apps. The burrata here is a MUST TRY. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their pastas but my personal favorites are the pappardelle and shrimp fettuccini with pesto sauce. Received a gift certificate for Liberty group so thought we would spend it here. Made a reservation. Happy I did. Place was packed. Was seated upstairs with a nice view of outside. Ordered a couple of glasses of rose. This is called a wine bar so we assumed the wine would be over the top. It just wasn't chilled enough. We decided not to complain but when we ordered another glass we changed to a Chianti and a Pinot Grigio. The Chianti was chilled way more than the Pinot and they almost served the Pinot Grigio in a huge ass red wine glass. What the heck?! Anyway, onto the food which was excellent! Started with ceaser salad. Lots of yummy Parmesan slices. Just the right amount of garlic. Then shared the Quattro pizza and linguini with clams in a light tomato sauce. Both were great. Mushrooms (fungi) were very good. Overall: Someone was either sucking dick in the bathroom or fucking. All I know is a dude and a skank left a stall as I was at the urinal. It's a very beautiful atmosphere. We ordered the fried zucchini and artichokes which were okay, then polenta fries which sucked. So unflavoured even with the sauces they give you, I had to ask for the waiter to add parmesan on it and give it some flavour. I've never had an appetizer like that before it was really unsatisfying.. kind of a let down. The pizza was DELICIOUS but you can only eat it with a spoon a fork and a knife. The pizza is as thin is a crepe and the crust was thick and delicious. You lift the slice up and the entire top slides off you need 3 forks to help get it onto someone's plate But you can't pick it up and hold it which sucked , but the flavours were amazing.
