Seafood platter appetizer. Scallops were the best!

Great food with reasonable prices! Every single person working at this restaurant was funny and charming. After having very expensive hotel meal, this place was just a gem. We will go back again!

Excellent little unassuming restaurant slightly off the beaten path in San Marco. We had the degustazione de la mar, which was an incredible seafood platter, and the crab linguini and mushroom tagliata. Everything was delicious and fresh. It's probably not a local restaurant as it is in San Marco, but the atmosphere was far from touristy, and the service was great.

Owner and LONG staff who's been there over 30 years!

Undoubtedly one of our best meals in Venice and our whole entire trip in Italy! Ristorante Canaletto nails it all: amazingly delicious food, attentive and kind-hearted service, and a clean and lively atmosphere. You really cannot go wrong here- definitely a must try!! My family and I tried out a lot of various dishes from their menu to complete a full 3-course meal & each dish turned out to be so tasty. Don't go without ordering the the black squid black pizza (can't experience it anywhere except here!) and their seafood antipasti--definitely the highlights for us! In addition to the great food, our meal was really complete due to the exceptionally kind service. We were greeted with warm smiles and kind service from all the staff we interacted with-truly completing our satisfactory experience here. The waiters consistently checked up on us and attended to our needs. Special shoutout to Gary and JP for taking such good care of us. All in all, ristorante Canaletto is 5/5 stars for us! We had such a great experience here and we highly recommend this place to anyone who is in Venice!!

It was our last night in Venice and we wanted to dine in a really authentic Venetian restaurant. While walking around searching, we found a group of Filipino's who live there. We are a group of Filipino-Americans traveling - asked them if they can recommend a good restaurant. They hesitated and suggested Cantina Canaletto, hesitated because according to them, it's quite difficult to get to, unless one uses a GPS. I said, no problem, I'm using Google maps. So they gave us the directions, said to look for Gary. We had no problems locating the place and there he was, Gary greeted us and gave us our table. We started our meal with 2 appetizers, Gnocco con Delize (Gnocco Fritto, mortadella and Salami) and the Tentacolo di Piovra (Crispy Octopus). We were all blown away! If this was an intro to a fabulous meal, then bring it on!!! For our entrees, we had Linguini Litorale (baby cuttlefish & zucchini), Stinco di Agnello (lamb shank), Cotoletta XXL (pan fried breaded pork chop), Ossobuco Canaletto (veal ossobuco), and Fritto e Croccante (fried mixed fish and shellfish). And as expected, everything was amazing! The best dish was the Cotoletta, the porkchop was a revelation. I cannot remember what we ordered for dessert, since we were all full from our entrees. But if a real authentic Venetian food is what you're looking for, it's worth the walk from Rialto or Piazza San Marco. Thanks to Glenn for recommending this place to our group, Gary for taking care of us, and giving us a excellent dining experience, and to Chef Carlo for preparing a scrumptious meal. We will definitely dine here again next time we're in Venice.

Excellent food and service. Very friendly staff! The servers have excellent recommendations for wine. We had our 8 year old daughter and they were great with her! A little off the main streets, but definitely worth a stop!

Solo trip here! Glenn and Gary did a suburb job making sure i felt like family my first time in Venice! Food and drinks was phenomenal!

Lots and lots of restaurants to choose from in Venice but this unassuming restaurant is a true gem…read more It's easy to miss as it's tucked in a corner right by a bridge. Once inside they have a couple tables with small window views of any gondolas passing by. We started off with a plate of lightly fried sardines topped with pickled white onions. The fry on the fish was super light and those vinegar-y onions were the perfect pairing. We cleaned that plate. The lasagna was well balanced with the meat, sauce, cheese. The squid ink pasta was chewy/al dente with a subtle touch of seafood flavors giving the cuttlefish. It was very umami but nothing too overbearing. Delicious! It's a Family business that was been around for many years. Grazie to the friendly staff and chef!

The jovial mood with the waiters with big personalities is gone. The menu you can find online is no longer available so you get a very limited menu to choose from--nearly entirely seafood. So if you have anyone in your party that just wants pasta with a red meat sauce or a non seafood lasagne, not available. We were a party of 8. Two people ordered the scallop appetizers. Pretty presentation on shells. 3 tiny scallops in the shells. More like an amuse bouche. Totally disappointing. The linguine with clams as an entree had clams so small you almost needed a magnifying glass to see them. Couldn't taste the clams and annoying to try to eat something so tiny , and just try to eat the pasta with all those tiny shells. The baby shrimp on polenta was actually good. But again the shrimp were like tiny hatchlings tempura battered. Tasted okay except for those that were soggy from the polenta that was very soupy. I wanted the gnocchi with crab which was on the very limited menu but no longer available. The alternative was gnocchi with a sea bass sauce which I chose but didn't like at all. The gnocchi were good but the sauce wasn't at all for me. We had to continue to ask for side dishes for the bread, butter, olive oil, salt and pepper. We will not return. Poor value for your money. Plus there is a cover charge and service included in your bill which was a surprise. Very sad to see our favorite Venetian restaurant decline so much.
