I am not sure if that makes a difference but the only time you can get in without waiting for 30 mins or more is at an off time. However, the salad was not very good and the salmon salad has pounds of smoked salmon on it. Not my thing particularly, but if it is yours you would love it. The bread was burnt weirdly but the drinks were good, especially the peach iced tea. Overall, good but was expecting more regarding the excellent reviews. read more

This little place is delicious and explains the number of people waiting to eat here for dinner the night before we ate there for lunch. The staff are wonderful! We enjoyed delicious crispy artichokes after our Vatican tour guide suggested them, they were so light and crispy and paired with the potatoes chips that are served to all tables. After reading reviews my cousin and I decided to check out Cantina e Cucina for dinner. We came and the guy said it was going to be a 15-20 minute wait. But the PLUS was he offered some wine while we waited in line. In the end, we were sat in 10minutes! How cool!! LOVE IT. I ordered Lasagna & he ordered a Cabonara. They were both amazing!! Definitely with the focaccia and Vivaldi salad (the corn is so fresh!). Seafood lovers also adored the calamari but it was a little meaty for me. We ate at Cantina e Cucina for our first meal in Rome on this trip and we loved it. We got in line (looked really long) free prosecco while we waited. Host guessed it would be a 30 minute wait but we were in in less than fifteen. Great atmosphere even though it's very crowded! The menu is available in a few different languages so they cater to tourists but the food is still exceptional. We started with calamari and fried artichoke. Calamari was excellent and artichoke was ok. We just had pasta for dinner and I did the carbonara which was very good. They used rigatoni noodles which was new to me and very smoky pork flavor. I loved it. Only concern was a little bit more cheese than I like. My fiancé got amatriciana which was exceptionally good. One of the best things we ate in Rome. Highly recommend and worth the wait. Our hotel was less than a block away and we had a balcony so one day for lunch we got pizza take away. You can skip the line and save 30% if you take away. Salcica e patate (sausage and potato) pizza was excellent as was the traditional Margherita pizza. read more

This restaurant is located in a bustling area, right by Piazza Navona. There was a wait of two parties before us when we arrived at 730pm on a Thursday night. While waiting, they gave us a small glass of prosecco. The table that opened for us was the one right at the front. Literally at the most forward point of the restaurant, displaying us for all passersby and those waiting in line. I almost wanted to wait for a different table, but we were very hungry. Our order was simple- bottle of Merlot, carbonara pasta and pizza rustica. The wine was great (see photo for bottle). The pizza and pasta were average. Nothing jumped out or was particularly awesome, comparing the dishes to others we've had. They gave us a shot of limoncello after paying the bill. The restaurant is filled with interesting decor. The first meal we had in Roma and we got super lucky with this place. We had heard that this place has a long line but we had to wait only for 20 minutes on a Sunday night. Amazing pasta amatriciana and one of the best pizzas I've had in all of Italy. We ordered the diavola Pizza (equivalent to a pepperoni pizza in the US). During our second night in Rome we decided to try this place given the high ratings on TripAdvisor and Yelp. Luckily it was a short walk from our hotel near the Pantheon as well. When we arrived around 9PM, there was a line outside of the restaurant with maybe 8 people ahead of us. We gave our name and the friendly gentleman outside seating people wrote it down on his list. While we waited, he came out to give the people waiting in line outside some bread and a small glass of champagne. It was a nice touch. Friendly guy, too. It's definitely tight inside the restaurant as far as seating as is most places in Rome we've been to, so ladies and gents be aware if you're bringing in large purses/bags inside this restaurant and be mindful of "bumping" them into other patrons by accident. We were seated faster than I thought and the server was friendly, spoke English. Decor was very charming, an intimate setting for sure. The food was just acceptable to me. I was expecting to be blown away, but for what we ordered, it was just fine. Nothing memorable or absolutely delicious. We got rigatoni carbonara, which was very simple in taste and just fine, a bit too underdone for my liking. But perhaps too simple. My husband also got the steak dish which was also just fine, nothing spectacular. Definitely a place that was just average to me, personally. I've definitely had better steak. But they do have good service here. Maybe I just didn't order the right thing. I'd be willing to give them another chance if we ever visit Rome again. read more

A pretty fun looking restaurant, with a lot of decor to explore. There was usually a line up outside when we passed by during our stay in Rome. We chose to try it before the big line up started. The service was pretty good, but the pizza I tried was just a pile of arugula lettuce on a cheese and Prosciutto meat pizza. This restaurant was located very close to my Air B&B and I am SO glad I found it. The staff at this restaurant are the nicest. Fabio was the main host, who greeted you out front (if there was a wait, it was only short) and started your experience in the restaurant off right. The main dining area is cozy but also upbeat with a good music playing and old Italian signage on the walls. The floating dried flowers hanging from the ceiling was a great touch as well. As for the food. this restaurant has some of the best food in Roma. From a caprese salad to the delectable cheeses and vegetables, the appetizers are great. This restaurant has hands down, the BEST lasagna I have ever had in my life and this is a bold statement coming from a foodie like myself. My family and I returned to this restaurant for lunch before our trip was done, it was that good. We also had the classic meatballs and homemade spaghetti which was out of this world. Our servers Mattia and Alex were very attentive and brought us all of our food in a timely fashion. They ensured we were having a great experience. If I had to recommend only one restaurant from my entire week in Italy, it would be this one. We read reviews that said "we'd give this place greater than 5 stars if we could..." and being from NYC where these yelp stars aren't given our as generously as they are in other parts of the states, we were very skeptical at first. I have to say that we stand corrected and this place by far exceeded our expectations. We stayed near Piazza Navona and this place is along a street which has a handful of restaurants/wine bars, gelato places, and wine shops, clothing/souvenir stores. This was our first meal in Rome - which I have to say in retrospect was an awesome choice because it helped us ease into adjusting our palette! Try their lasagna (by far one of the best we've had), cacio e pepe and their vivaldo salad was refreshing and a good side order to all the gluten/starches! Their pizzas were pretty popular by observation (almost every table had one!, these are personal size). Their drinks are all priced reasonably and service is actually pretty good here! They serve you a shot of limencello with your check when you're ready to leave! Overall, awesome experience here, we dined here twice during our trip, we'd definitely come back. Save room though, turn left when you come out, down the block is Frigidarium (Gelato Place!) which is also out of this world! read more
