A true definition of a tourist trap. I desperately wanted to believe that it was as good as all the reviews depicted it to be, so I subjected myself in waiting in the line for 40 minutes as people walked by shaking their heads as if you say, " look at those suckers waiting in line for terrible food when there are thousands of other fantastic local places just in the next few blocks". Unfortunately that wasn't the case. The food was nothing shy of horrible. The Roman Artichoke tasted like it was drenched in artificial butter that you would get from a movie theater, and the raviolis were cold in the center and rubbery on the outside. I give this place a TEN! We could have eaten there every single meal it was THAT good. They do not take reservations so we had a short wait upon arrival. Looking back, I would have waited an hour+ for this awesome meal. They brought us out complimentary drinks (very nice touch!) for the wait and continued to update us on the status of our table. A round of prosecco was offered whilst we wait. Silvia attended to us and recommended a few dishes. We picked this place for our last dinner in Rome and my only regret is we didn't stop by earlier. As mentioned in other reviews, there was a queue of 3-4 groups ahead of us (at around 8:40pm on a Friday), but the line moved quickly and our party of four was seated within 20 minutes. We ordered the grilled vegetable and cheese platter, calamari, and focaccia bread to start. Everything was delicious and the portions extremely generous- by the time we polished everything off, everyone was pretty full. For the main course, we all ordered pastas: cacio e pepe, amatriciana, carbonara, and tonnarello. The cacio e pepe and amatriciana were especially notable. Again, portions were generous and in hindsight, after appetizers, we could've ordered two or three pastas to share. Ehh! I was a bit disappointed with my meal here tonight. I have seen long lines throughout my stay in the neighboring area and thought to give this place a try. Wait was not too long 35 minutes-they served focchica to the waiting guests as well as porcessco which is a nice touch. Felt so rushed once we sat down to order-the salad came as we were served our beverage ...we did not even get a chance to munch on the appetizer before they were pulling it away. Hmmm. Our dinner came fast as well. In and out in 60 min. I ordered the chicken cacciatore and it was good. The potato's were rubbery and the side salad was ok. Not the best I've ever had (the salsiccia wasn't as flavorful as I've had it before, but still delicious). I had the Rustica pizza with chicory and salsiccia. I really liked that pizza. It's thinner crust pizza like the Romans do. First time haven't it (as opposed to Neapoletana pizza) and it was very good. I also tried a capirissima (rum) and that was very delicious as well. This spot is just a gem. Found it with yelp because of the reviews. I honestly probably had the best pizzas I've ever had in my life. Everything was done perfectly like I asked and even though the waiters speak mostly Italian, they do their best to understand your requests with a large smile. The service was great, nothing more to expect from a service in Rome.
