First of all, I want to say the server was fantastic. She was quite outstanding. I did not send the food back nor complain to the restaurant, I didn't feel it would be corrected. We used to go there quite often, then one day, we went and ordered the exact same food as usual, except they didn't season any of it. None. We stayed away for a couple years after that. I had hoped they had just had a bad cook and they resolved that by now. I was wrong. Ordered the chicken fajitas and it was like trying to eat steamed fajitas, zero flavor and no caramelization whatsoever on the vegetables. My wife and I decided to go to Cantina for the first time in quite some time. We were seated at the bar and were given menus, chips, and salsa right away. That's when the service stopped. We waited 15-20 minutes to order a drink. It is extremely loud. We decided we would order food at the same time since we were ignored by all of the bar tenders. And we waited ... and waited... and waited for anyone to take our order. We finally gave up and left. We went next door to Big Orange and were promptly served by Ben. He is great! So if you have trouble with the big chain Mexican restaurant next door with mediocre food... there is always Big Orange! A much smaller chain but local ! read more

My first experience with this place was extremely poor, and I am leaving this review so the restaurant can learn from its mistakes. The hostess insisted I speak with the bartender to pick up my order, so I went and stood at the bar. Several minutes later, the hostess went over and informed the bartender of my presence (the irony being that she had just said she could not get the order for me, yet here she was). The bartender then said to me, "Would you like to come over here?" To this I replied, "Not particularly," as I was not interested in touring his bar--I only wanted to receive my order. He then made it clear that he would not bring my order to the other end of the bar (again, ironic, since he is a bartender at the bar in a restaurant, where I was told I could receive the order). He insisted I journey across the restaurant and repeated that his stipulations were the only way I could pick up the food. I laughed and politely asked him not to speak to me anymore and to simply provide me with the order. He told me I was being rude. Still, I was not interested in his projections, so I only laughed in response. After this, I watched him load quesadillas into a bag--no warming tray, no heat lamp. Just food stacked on a bus tray behind the bar, unpackaged until that moment. Interesting. The entire time he packed the bag, he continued speaking to me despite my clear requests that he stop, determined to share his pseudo-psychological read on me. He proceeded to insult me, asked my name, wrote it down, and then demanded I never come back. To which I replied, "Have a nice day, you fucking idiot." So, what can Cantina Laredo learn from this?First, your host can do more than stand around. If she had simply retrieved and handed me the order, I would never have had this negative encounter. Second, there is no theatre in online ordering. I do not need to watch food being bagged--I expect it to be packed correctly. It's almost as if the restaurant doesn't trust itself to pack food without a chaperone. Have confidence in your work! Third, to the bartender: your opinion on customers' attitudes is not part of making drinks and handing out food. I was clear and consistent in not wanting further conversation--a sentiment you chose not to respect. To close, I will remind you all that sometimes just making sense makes all the difference. This version of events is unabridged, the only clarification I will make is that the bartender was on the phone during my initial wait, not his fault but yet another indication that the mostly empty eatery should reevaluate its distribution of roles and tasks amongst available staff. read more

So this was a few weeks ago but I'm STILL thinking about it. I was in Little Rock with my gal pal for a ladiepants weekend away from the men in our lives. We'd spent the day down in Hot Springs and were coming back home. We were staaaaaarving. And while there were many things that would satisfy- we agreed that there were two things we NEEDED. And that was, chips&salsa, and a margarita (yes that's technically 3 but the c&s is a package deal so it's only 2 things). So we stopped here. And the food was delightful! We had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant during the holidays while hanging out with our favorite LR couple, Philip and Judy, who told us this is one of their favorite happy hours in the city. We were pleasantly surprised with our experience. I say surprised because I have not had great experiences in the past with service and food quality at establishments near the University/mall corridor. But this was different. From the moment we entered the restaurant, service was on point. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by both bartenders - one young lady with Princess Leia braids and the other was clearly a master mixologist who resembled Beth from Yellowstone- and I say that with admiration not shade. We ordered the standard fare for apps - queso, guacamole, the fish tacos and the tuna tacos. Everything was really good - chips were fresh, salsa was spicy but not too hot and the tacos were stuffed with fish. The drinks were also on point. We actually ordered micheladas, which are not on the menu. The bartender was in her bag! She created a custom mix of Bloody Mary mix, hot sauce and tajin and served it separately with the Tecate in the can, allowing us to finish the Micheladas to our preferred concentration. That little touch put the whole experience over the top! Lastly, shout out to the general manager, who came through the bar and checked on each individual patron while checking in at the bar to make sure everything was stocked and ready for their New Years Eve menu. Nice touch, even though he is a Texas fan . We look forward to visiting in the future. Second attempt here after this place didn't give me all my to go good - ceviche ain't cheap!!! I should have known when I walked in to two rude hostesses that the evening would not end well. But, going to the bar to get a drink, I thought how bad could it be. Apparently, pretty bad. When we first got there, the bar did have several people there, however it cleared out within 5 minutes. After that we still had no one ask for our drink orders or food orders for several more minutes (husband says 10 more minutes) while staff chit chatted and checked their phones, told jokes, etc. We finally left and one of the same hostesses gave us a dirty look like we were running out on a tab, so we informed her we were going next door to Big Orange where we can get service. She then proceeded to go to the window and give us a dirty look all the way around the building. Will never be back. Absolutely horrendous. From the time we sat down, our server Genesis was so pleasant and sweet! The salsa was delicious (especially for my very picky great aunt).. my steak was DELICIOUS paired with cilantro lime rice and asparagus. I ordered my food (steak fajita burrito) and I am not exaggerating when I say that I got my food in under one minute.... Seriously.... No joke. The steak inside was cooked perfectly and had great taste. Medium with a little pink and very tender.... This is not done cheap skirt steak rubber stuff.... This is GOOD steak. Salsa provided with the chips is not the usual and it's darker and nice and spicy! If I lived around here my family and I would be going to this place regularly. It was a great dining experience because of the service. Jessica was phenomenal and attentive, but balanced. She checked and provided all that we needed without us ever having to look for her or ask someone to get the server. The restaurant was nice and clean. There's also a nice patio and bar. It could be great for dining at any time. The brunch mimosas are totally worth it! It's a great deal for the bottle. The Crab Benedict was ok. The patties tasted a little sweet and not as much crab meat as expected. I should have asked for my eggs to be lightly scrambled. The potatoes were ok. After craving some hispanic for about a week in Little Rock, we came along this restaurant and decided to try it out. Most of us had never been to a hispanic restaurant this fancy so we were excited. Upon entrance, the restaurant seemed to offer a wonderful calm ambiance. We were seated and got to try out some of their chips and salsa which was all delicious. I ended up ordering the Puerto Vallarta which was honestly disappointing. The meal tasted like it had just been microwaved and the meat tasted very cheap. I'm pretty sure the chicken was just canned chicken thrown into a tortilla. So maybe I unfortunately ordered one of the worser items on the menu but it was incredibly mid. All in all, I had a nice outing to this place but the main course was pretty bad. I feel like I could have gotten better food at any hispanic restaurant. So first off I have never had a bad server I have been here a few times the best are; Richard, Gage and Gabby and AJ. There are so many good servers there but those are definitely my favorites, also Maria and Dean are very good managers very nice and personable, Chris not so much makes it very uncomfortable the air around him is just very thick. This time around there was a long hair in my partner food and a roach decided to eat lunch at our table with us I also got the nachos normally very good but some of the tostados were very stale this time around. First time in, late lunch on a Wednesday. I was very unimpressed with my food. Very basic, with nothing to elevate by tacos above taco bell, essentially. The lettuce and tomatoes were both brown. Also, a lady came in who was in a motorized wheel chair just prior to me. A few of my faves are the carne asada, top shelf guacamole, the (mild) salsa and chip service, shrimp flautas (no longer on the menu but if you ask nicely they'll make them for you), the Mexican apple pie, their margaritas, and last but certainly not least-- their BRUNCH. OMG! The crab cake bene is awesome, and their mimosa special (with an order off the brunch menu) is absolutely unbeatable! I am a long time fan of Cantina Laredo (since 2014)! Chris and the team are amazing at what they do! The Queso Laredo is perfectly creamy and cheesy. One of my favorites is the Grill Steak Fajita Burrito that is topped with chipotle wine sauce. Everything on their menu is beyond delicious! The teamwork by the staff was excellent to get needs met. The only reason that I am not giving 5 stars is that I feel that the menu is somewhat limited. Margaritas rather pricey so we settled for iced tea. Our server, Brad, was excellent! The Mexican Apple Pie in brandy butter sauce with ice cream was to die for.
