Outstanding! We were a bit skeptical when we read the other reviews about this place as it sounded almost too good to be true. Well, I am happy to report that it IS true, that Petit & Keet is an outstanding restaurant. We made it in, in time for their terrific happy hour at the bar. Packed at 5:00 PM on a Tuesday (who woulda thunk that?) we were able to squeeze in and jump in on their goodies. The HH Menu was so appealing we would up just tasting several things; for starters, their signature frozen drink, the Peechy Keet, was absolutely phenomenal (it might also be because it was over 100 degrees outside). Not too sweet, nicely fruity and packing a punch. The Crudites was atypical with a larger assortment of veggies (including some tasty Sheshido peppers) and a really, unique and delish hummus. Next up; the Tuna Tostada. This could actually be my favorite item on the menu; sashimi grade tuna on a larger Tostada, perfectly marinated. Yummy. We topped things off with the Empanadas' that were also delectable; plenty of filling, not overly fried so as to be firm but chewable. I can't believe we wound up being stuffed, and sadly, it prevented us from diving into what looked like some wonderful entrees. Next time! A special note to the management; your bartender (sorry, her name escapes me, but she's in the pic with my wife and me) was as phenomenal as the food & drink (and the decor; sorry I hadn't mentioned that before, but it is a lovely space). She was everything (and more) for what someone behind the bar should be, an expert concotionist, professional, fun (and funny) and on top of everything at a packed bar/restaurant. Petit & Keet was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Little Rock. We had a great meal, great service and a few pleasant surprises that really stood out. Food (9/10) Lobster Bisque (6/10): This was the only miss for me. It was a little too watery to be called a bisque, the lobster was overcooked for my liking, and it just needed more flavor. Birria Empanadas (10/10): These are usually only served during happy hour, but we asked if they happened to have any left, and they graciously said yes. I'm so glad they did. These were phenomenal--honestly one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. The crispy shell reminded me of the Wonton Tacos at Applebee's, and the filling was creamy, cheesy, meaty... just ridiculously good. Paneed Chicken (9/10): I stole a few bites from my wife's entrée, and it was excellent. The chicken was lightly breaded, tender, and flavorful, and the sauce tied everything together nicely. Brussels Sprouts (8/10): These were good, but we've had better. I would've liked them just a little more tender. Sipstock Star (7/10): If you enjoy drinks that mimic the taste of alcohol, you'll probably like this one. It wasn't sweet, but it had good flavor. Spice Spice Baby (10/10): Now this was my kind of mocktail. Sweet, refreshing, and exactly what I was hoping for. Service (8/10) Robbie took great care of us. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without hovering. We never had to wait on anything. Ambiance (9/10) Petit & Keet feels like it can be whatever you need it to be. It has a little sports bar area, a little upscale casual patio section, and a little fine dining area all under one roof. The lighting, décor and overall atmosphere make it feel warm and inviting. Lagniappe (10/10) Before we were even seated, we got a glimpse of the kind of place this is. We came in through the side entrance, and a gentleman wearing a chef's apron walked in behind us. He apologized that one of the doors wasn't working, fixed it, asked if we had a reservation, looked it up, and seated us himself. I never asked who he was, but I got the feeling he was either the owner or someone with a lot of pride in the restaurant. Those aren't things you see every day. Then, after we got home, I realized I'd lost my receipt, which I needed for expense reimbursement. I stopped by the next day, and they explained they were in the middle of prepping for dinner service but promised to text me a copy later. Sure enough, a few hours later, my receipt showed up exactly like they said it would. It's little things like that that separate good restaurants from great ones. So I have never got to try this restaurant. My wife on the other hand has eaten here once or twice. So when I saw their valentines menu come out, I jumped at the chance to grab a reservation. Got there a little early and our table was ready. Since it was a fixed menu, we only had a few options to choose from. First course I chose duck and pancetta, meatball, and my wife chose the Ahi Crudo. Ahi Crudo - flavors were good, just wish they would have gone with a sashimi cut over the thicker cut of tuna. It had a little chew to it. Duck and Pancetta meatball- probably the best seasoned bite of the evening, almost to the point of being too salty. The meatball was cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. Second course I chose the lobster bisque, and my wife chose the strawberry and beet salad. Lobster bisque - lobster meat was very tender, and you could taste the good salty water that they boiled it in. The base of the bisque was lacking a depth of flavor. I expected it to be more pronounced lobster flavor in the biscuit itself. It was good. It was just a different flavor than I was expecting. Strawberry / Beet salad - the salad was very good. I liked the cheese that they put on the salad. Luckily I was able to steal a few bites from my wife. Main course I ordered the New York strip, and my wife ordered the lobster risotto. New York Strip - when the steak hit the table, I was very excited. As you can see from the photos, it was cooked perfectly. From the first bite, I could tell the steak was tender, but there was zero flavor. I don't know if the steak was not seasoned at all, or if they were just playing on the drizzle over the top of the mushrooms in the steak to add flavor. But the overall plate was bland and flavor. I had to add table salt, which I almost never do. Lobster risotto- lobster risotto looked amazing. My first bite of risotto that I was able to steal was pretty bland. I tried another bite before my wife finished the entire plate! The second bite was much better had a lot of of the pepper flavor in the risotto. My wife said the lobster was tender and delicious. Dessert! I chose the Tres Leches and my wife chose the chocolate pot de creme. Tres Leches - this cake was probably the overall favorite thing of the evening. You could taste the vanilla and the cream. It was a match made in heaven. The frozen strawberries on top provided a good texture contrast. Chocolate pot de creme- this was an amazing dessert also. The depth of flavor in the chocolate cream was truly remarkable. You could taste the different chocolate. Rich and decadent for the last bite. We chose to add the wine pairing on with the mail. All the ones were pretty good. Nothing earth shattering, but all paired well with the meal. Service felt a little rushed, and I understand that valentines is a big day for the restaurant. We would not be halfway through a glass of wine when the next glass of wine for the next course would show up. It almost felt like our server was trying to push the pace of our dining experience. This review will ultimately get updated. Because I never judge a restaurant based on one experience. So we look forward to our next date night, where we can stop by and try the standard menu. read more

What a breath of fresh air. Started with a wonderful experience with Jade at the bar. Recommend several drinks that all hit. The house frozen drink was perfect for the occasion and heat hitting Arkansas. Husband tried several signature cocktails but the Tropic Like it's Hot is unbelievable. David was a great waiter. Pros: Our server Jeremy was very kind and attentive. Happy hour prices are very reasonable and drinks are strong. The atmosphere when I arrived at 5pm was relaxed and quiet. It was getting more lively around the time we left. I also started with a drink at the bar and the bartending staff were all lovely. Cons: I entered at 4:50pm and was told I needed to wait for my table to be ready. The restaurant was very empty, so I was confused by this statement. I asked to be seated at 5pm and was taken to a completely empty area. I am sure there is likely a reason for this, but it was a very odd way to start the interaction. From the moment I walked in, this spot was eclectic and casual which perfectly mirrors the personalities of its founders, Louis Petit and Jim Keet. Meeting Louis Petit was an unexpected highlight. Absolutely incredible dinner tonight here! Came with my parents, as we are in town to visit family before the coming holiday week, and we absolutely loved our meal. Began with a bottle of the Chablis; available by the glass, but with three of us, we decided it was just better to indulge with a bottle- it was the Chartron et Trebuchet Chablis though- a thorough review of that wine is available elsewhere, but suffice to say it was delicious, and an excellent part of their menu. We started with the shareable appetizers of the baked goat cheese and crispy Brussel sprouts. Upon overhearing us state that my father would be the only one to enjoy the sprouts, our server, Carman, asked if he would prefer a side size of the Brussels, which we greatly appreciated. The baked goat cheese was fantastic- I would have appreciated the tomatoes to be blistered, mostly because the one that was made it much, much easier to not have it roll off my crustini since it was slightly softer- the ones that were fresher were a bit more difficult. Mom and I ate most of it, and the fresh pesto on top was wonderful, though the shaved roasted slices of garlic may have been better if incorportated in to the pesto, as that flavor did enhance the cheese well. Dad liked the Brussels, he said that the salty-sweet with the honey balsamic glaze and the course salt very much elevated the dish. We did end up ordering some of the parker house rolls as well, since mom and I wanted a bit more bread for the goat cheese, but we were all impressed with the lavender honey butter on top of them. I may have to admit to eating the top of one as my dessert because it was so good. Dad got the Lamb shank, and it was so tender he ended up using just his fork to enjoy his meal. Mom got the Coq au Vin, which she thoroughly enjoyed, but didn't; say much about it, since she was too busy eating! I got the steak au poivre, medium rare, which was perfectly cooked- I would have preferred less pepper on the vegetables, as a nice compliment to the brandy peppercorn cream, but it was still wonderful- I just ended up not really eating the vegetables since it was a bit of an overwhelming amount of pepper. It was a chilly night in late fall when we visited, so the comfort food level of the warm entree was delightful. The ecletic but casual decor, especially the small additions of older books around the restaurant enhanced that cozy but fun atmosphere as well. Be aware though, parking is sometimes difficult to get- be courteous to others and not take up more than one spot (thanks, sports car driver that wasn't even an overly nice sports car...) or utilize the valet. Or, some of the other nearby businesses are not open past 5, so those may be an option as well. Definitely one I will visit again, as the seasonality of the menu means there's more to constantly enjoy. read more

Three ladies and I went to happy hour at Petit and Keet last night. What a fabulous setting on their patio. Our server, Tim, was so accommodating and upbeat. The front of house staff was great. Our waiter was a little overwhelmed and we didn't get much attention, but another waiter stepped in to try and help. We got the tuna tartare as an appetizer. It was really good. I got salmon with mushrooms and kale. The salmon and mushrooms were good. The kale was too salty and the sauce was not good. My boyfriend got the lamb shank and it wasn't seasoned well and was just bland. We were really disappointed in our experience. Out of all the things we ordered-the Cobb salad was the only tasteful food on the menu. They redeemed themselves with the cook on the lobster this time, but it was cold water lobster pasta. Sat at the bar and the bartenders are so fun, entertaining and chatty! They even had happy hour on Sunday with great appetizers and drinks! They also had 1/2 off on a bottle of wine with a great list of wines from France, Italy and California. The appetizers were outstanding with crispy Brussel sprouts and smoked Ahi dip and pita bread. When I cut into it, it was raw and bit bloody, and that's not how I like eating my pork chops.i had to cut around the raw areas. The flavor was good though 2. Before that, I got a salad with romaine lettuce. I asked for green goddess dressing and they got me Caesar dressing. I sent it back and they insisted it was green goddess so then I asked for a light dressing and they said they had a vinaigrette.... Which actually was a creamy dressing and tastes just like their Caesar but they insist it's vinaigrette. Ok whatever. The romaine is not the freshest quality so I had to scavenge through it. Chicken was just alright but decent portion. $24 with $4 up charge for au gratin potatoes which were absolutely tasteless. Snapper was decent but very small portion $48! I really enjoyed my time at this restaurant even though we got off to a bumpier start. I went here on a date night with my partner. We had made reservations and arrived early. They were able to seat us. We said there for about 10 minutes before anyone came to greet us and that was after I got the attention of a passing waiter. Soon after I wait or did arrive and was apologetic about his delay. He was able to order our drinks as well as I'm meal rather quickly. The manager is well as one of the owners did visit our table and we're quite polite. They provided us with a free dessert as well as our first round of drinks. I had the melon mixed drink in my partner had the starfish. The starfish by far was a superior drink. I ordered one of those for myself so I wouldn't drink his! I ordered the pasta and my partner ordered the steak. Both were cooked very well! They were very flavorful and seasoned to perfection. I have visited their sister restaurant, Cypress social and I recommend this one more. For this to be one of the pricier restaurants in Little Rock, they need to up their game. The smell when I walked in the door was strong of bad seafood. I thought that maybe it was just the front area and not in the restaurant itself, but it was everywhere. I had the crab cakes and a wedge salad. I was excited to taste the "seared jumbo lump crabcakes". Unfortunately, they were swimming in remoulade sauce. This sauce needs to be served on the side as it overwhelmed the taste of the cakes. Also, if this was jumbo lump crab, it must have been really small crabs as there was nothing jumbo or lump about it. The cakes themselves were pretty tasty...I ate them all once I got past the remoulade. I enjoyed the arugula salad that was served with them. I ordered the wedge salad. I was looking forward to the "smoked" bleu cheese...I didn't taste even a hint of smoke. The lardons were more like bits and not very plentiful. The tomatoes were mushy. Otherwise, the salad was ok. I know it's hard to respect a review based on an appetizer and a salad....so do with it what you will! read more
