Absolutely top-notch experience at Cantina Laredo Sandestin, to end our weekend! Our server, Emanuel, was fantastic--attentive, friendly, and on top of everything. A female manager also stopped by our table (I wish I remembered her name!) and was incredibly welcoming and personable. We also happened to see the female bartender handle a difficult situation, and we were genuinely impressed with how calm and in control she remained. She handled it extremely well, and it definitely stood out to us. And the tableside guacamole--hands down the BEST we have ever had. Fresh, flavorful, and worth ordering every single time. This was the absolute worst meal I've ever had at Cantina Laredo. Honestly a first for me! We eat here often and love everything. On this occasion the quality and quantity didn't fit the price and was very insulting! I ordered Mahi Mahi with the asparagus and rice. It was the size of a child's meal for starters. The Mahi Mahi was VERY dry. I did tell my server but nothing was done, only an apology. I was also surprised at the tiny size of the asparagus and small portion of rice. I didn't push it because my husband gets embarrassed and will eat a disappointing meal and never complain. This was ridiculous however. His meal was also pretty small for the cost. Maybe it's changed since Covid rocked our lives in so many negative ways that restaurants are cutting back, but to be dried out fish isn't acceptable. I wish our server would have at least offered to replace it. I was just as mad at myself for not asking for a new dish or my money back. Our server was nice. But that didn't make anything better with my meal! Next time I won't be swayed by my dining partners desire to not complain. He also gave the server a VERY generous tip. We were in Destin, FL on a family vacation and decided to visit Cantina Laredo with a party of 14. I had called ahead hoping to make a reservation, but was told they don't take reservations, so we expected a pretty long wait when we arrived. To our surprise, the staff was incredibly accommodating. The patio was full, but they were able to seat our entire group in a private dining room. It ended up being even better than we expected--quiet, comfortable, and perfect for a large family gathering. Our server did an outstanding job throughout the evening. Managing a table of 14 people is no easy task, but he was attentive, friendly, and kept everything running smoothly from start to finish. We started with three orders of the tableside guacamole, and it was a huge hit. Watching the server prepare it fresh right at our table made the experience even more enjoyable. The food was excellent all around. I ordered the Brisket tacos, which were flavorful and delicious. Our son had the chicken enchiladas, and they looked amazing and tasted just as good. My husband ordered the carne asada plate, and the steak was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. For dessert, we ordered four of the apple pies with a scoop of vinalla ice cream served on sizzling skillets, and they were absolutely outstanding. The sizzling presentation was fun, and the warm apple pie was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. From the attentive service to the delicious food and the unexpected private dining room, Cantina Laredo made dining with a large group easy and enjoyable. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back the next time we're vacationing in the Sandestin area. Highly recommend! We were shopping and it started raining, so we decided to grab some lunch. Carlos was our server. He was very entertaining! I had the lunch beef tacos and they were very yummy. The rice here is excellent as well. My BIL had chicken enchiladas and said they were great, and my niece had some sort of chicken tacos. Adobo maybe? Anyway, she loved hers too, and tried some flan for dessert! I brought my leftovers back to my sister's house, she enjoyed them today! This review is for takeout. We ordered for dinner on a Saturday night for pickup. Service was quick and our order was ready upon-pickup. We got the Relleno de Camaron, Carne Asada Specials. We couldn't resist and also indulged in the Mexican Apple Pie, and the Flan. The Mexican apple pie was a throwback for my financé, who used to order this 20 years ago. Although it wasn't the same as being served on a sizzling plate, it was still very good but better in person! I loved the carne asada dish, the beef was cooked perfectly and so tender. Included in our order was a container of salsa and a bag of perfectly crisped tortilla chips. We loved this addition and surprise! The area of this restaurant was super festive with all the Christmas lights and decor. There is a center with a tree, and we will return to explore it as well as a full dining experience. read more

Good but not great, which it has been in the past. The steak tacos were good but needed a kick of flavor, especially on the steak itself. Without the small slice of avocado and a generous squeeze of lime juice the taco almost tasted bland which was disappointing. The spinach enchilada was also begging for more seasoning or flavor, especially as a vegetarian option it needs all the flavor it can get. Overall service was fast for food and drinks with staff who seemed to be dedicated to running those items. However our server was hard to catch and almost never around our table so it took a good ten minutes to get the check. I had a really disappointing experience at Cantina Laredo. The food quality was far below what you'd expect. My burrito came packed with pre-cooked, clearly frozen chicken, and they completely forgot the cheese. To make matters worse, the rice served on the side was bland and completely flavorless. The drinks weren't any better--they tasted nothing like how they were described on the menu. Food is good and they are typically really fast to get your food out! Sometimes I feel like the service can be a little slow, but the restaurant is pretty much always packed, so I give them a little grace. Try the Camaron Poblano Asada! The atmosphere is classy yet casual. It would be a great place for gatherings, dates, business meetings, or just to have a good time as a family. For having a name like "Grand Boulevard) the street is rather narrow and what little parking available there is parallel parking. I decided to park around back of the restaurant where there is plenty of parking. Having lived and traveled extensively in Mexico, I know Mexican food. If you are expecting authentic Mexican food you will be disappointed. Cantina Laredo specializes in Americanized Mexican food, more Texan than Mexican. I was there for a business meeting, and we ordered some queso dip and guacamole. Again these are Texan, not Mexican, but they were very tasty. The server brought a prep cart to our table and mixed the guacamole for us. The chips, rather than actual tortilla chips were the thin Tostito style chips. The chicken enchiladas were pretty good. They were generously filled with pulled chicken and were covered with a very mild green salsa. They came with sides of rice and beans. On the other hand, the sopa de tortilla was disappointing to me because it was not like anything called by that name in Mexico. It was pulled chicken in a salty enchilada(ish) sauce and only garnished with a few pieces of corn chips. Sopa de tortilla in Mexico does not have chicken, and the broth is very different. Mexican sopa de tortilla uses fried pieces of corn tortillas covered with a tomato based broth, and is garnished with avocado, Mexican cream, diced cheese (panela or fresco) and some toasted pasilla chiles. This had none of those. I think they need to rename the soup as "chicken enchilada soup" as it would be more honest. The service at Cantina Laredo was great... our server was friendly, efficient and kept our drinks topped off. Would I return? If a friend wanted to go I'd join them, otherwise I'd find a place with Mexican food. read more

We were really looking forward to giving this place a shot, but it was a let down, to say the least. We had a party of 7, called ahead and was told at most it would be a 10 min, when we got there it turned out to be about 45 min. They definitely got hit with a rush, and it was a Friday, so that part wasn't unexpected. We were sat, and liked the environment, still had high hopes. We received our chips and salsa, we liked the chips, they were a little thinner than a lot of Mexican restaurants, the salsa was fine, but that's hit and miss at a lot of restaurants. We ordered the chile con queso and chicken nachos for appetizers. The queso was, as my kids described, just like the lunchable cheese, not a compliment (2). The chicken nachos were pretty good, but you only get 8 nacho chips (4). Our table got chicken enchiladas, not much flavor at all (2). Grilled steak fajita burrito, not much steak and covered in the same cheese (2). The rice also, did not have much flavor, and might have been a smidge burnt (2). To be honest, not much flavor would describe pretty much everything we had. Not to kick a dead horse, but our server was absent for the dinner as well, only came back for refills when we asked for the bill. This was our first visit to Cantina Laredo. First, the ambiance is very nice. It has a Tex-Mex influence which fits well with their food. We had a very large party - there were about 20 of us. It didn't take too long to be seated - always a good thing. The server came right by and took our drink and appetizer orders and let us all talk for a long time before taking our meal order. We had tableside guacamole, which was not the best I've had, but was good. It had a little bit of a kick to it. I will say their chips and salsa was outstanding. I loved the taste of the salsa. For our meal, my wife and I split combo Fajitas. They were a little disappointing. It was mainly onions, and there was not a lot of chicken or steak compared to other restaurants. The taste, however, was good. We skipped desert, but when we were ready for the check, the server asked if we wanted separate checks - wow. Yes we did and I know what a pain it is for servers to do that, especially when it means 10 different checks. They did a great job of keeping us satisfied. So, while I think the food portions could have been a little more generous, they more than made up for it with their service. read more

The tres leches cake used to be my favorite dessert. However this last meal left me not even wanting to risk eating it. This visit, I opted for their Espinaca, to which I added chicken, and let me just say--it was the most delicious twist on enchiladas I've ever experienced. Their mojitos are equally impressive; refreshing and utterly addicting (drink responsibly, they're that good!). The complimentary chips and salsa are always a hit too--honestly, their salsa is so good I could drink it! My boyfriend tried the chicken quesadillas and was very pleased with how tasty they were. The ambiance of this location adds so much to the dining experience; it's incredibly charming with all the string lights at night, creating a perfect dining backdrop. On Sunday evening, we tried this restaurant for the first time. We were seated right away, and they have plenty of seating both inside and on the patio. We began with drinks, ordering their mojito and patron Rita. The drinks were good, but they could have been better. We also ordered their fresh guacamole, which is made in front of you. Guacamole was great with chips. Then we got their Puerto Valletta, which includes beef taco al carbon, cheese enchilada with chile con carne, chicken enchilada with sour cream sauce, refried beans, and Mexican rice. We substituted black beans for the refried beans. It was tasty, but it lacked flavor. It was a little bland for me, and I needed some hot sauce to spice it up. We also got their POLLO ASADO, which comes with 3 corn tortillas, grilled chicken, avocado, mango-pineapple pico de gallo, cilantro, poblano sauce, and Monterey Jack cheese. This dish was better.
