We've been loyal patrons of Cantina Laredo for over 35 years, starting in Frisco, TX, and continuing after our move to Miramar Beach. Sadly, over the past few months, the quality has steadily declined. Today's visit was especially disappointing. My husband ordered two beef enchiladas that looked more like child-sized portions--thin, about four inches long--with only a heaping tablespoon of rice and a small serving of charro beans. I ordered the steak fajita burrito, which was filled with gristly steak, overloaded with charro beans, and topped with a strange, overly salty cheese. It came with a small side of rice and, oddly, yet another bowl of charro beans. To top it off, my peach margarita had black specks floating in it. When I asked about it, the waiter explained it had been frozen, so the chef had put it on the grill--hardly an appetizing explanation. The food was underwhelming, and the service wasn't much better. The waitstaff seemed more interested in talking among themselves than attending to guests. After so many years of enjoying Cantina Laredo, it's disappointing to say we won't be returning. read more

If you are in the Destin area and looking for some good Mexican food, dine here! Started with the queso with ground sirloin and it was delicious! The ground sirloin was the perfect topping to this queso since it wasn't super greasy like the ground beef that most places use instead. For entrees, we had quesadillas (half with grilled chicken and the other half with skirt steak) and the grilled chicken tacos with rice and beans. Both the chicken and steak quesadillas were very good but the steak was definitely my favorite. The steak was very tender and had great flavor. The chicken tacos were good too as well as the rice and beans that came with them. Service was fast! This place has both indoor and outdoor seating. read more

we ordered the guac, veggie quesadillas, veggie enchiladas, chicken fajitas, and impossible tacos. the guac we were dissapointed in as it was extremely salty - overhyped. the chicken fajitas were very good in flavor and juiciness. the veggie quesadillas were okay and lacking in veggies, same with the veggie enchiladas. the impossible tacos were very bland and very much lacking in the impossible meat (especially for the steep price of $18). everything especially the beans were severely lacking in salt. i think the highlight of the meal was the smokey chips in salsa in the beginning. the service was also a bit slow but it was busy. it was an upper scale mexican restetaunt with dim lighting and fairly alright decor. i would not recommend this for vegetarians. if you are gluten free you could get by. read more

Service was not the best because the workers were busy but the staff was extremely kind. Food is expensive and quality is not good at all. I got fajitas and got two 6" tortillas. This chicken was gristly. The steak was grey. Queso tasted like broccoli cheddar soup. I swear the rice was uncle Ben's bag rice. It tasted IDENTICAL. It was also very loud and chaotic. Ya know I wanted to give this a 5 : it wasn't out of this world but wasn't bad either. The prices were MUCH lower than I anticipated being it's a 'higher end' Mexican and in Destin. Got seated really quick (we were in Destin before school got out so it wasn't crazy busy in town) Kinda bummed that the $12 guacamole that they make fresh in front of the table only has one avocado in it. We stayed at a hotel within walking distance and decided to eat here twice. We got different things both times and everything was excellent. The guacamole and queso were both worth the price, fajitas and tacos were tasty. Overall recommend! read more

We drove to Cantina Laredo to grab some good Mexican and to catch a break from all the seafood we had been having while in Destin. We really enjoyed the free chips/salsa as most Mexican restaurants typically give. The food: I tried both the fish tacos, and the spinach/mushroom enchiladas. The fish tacos were pretty good and tasted fresh, but were not my most memorable fish tacos I have had on the trip. The enchiladas on the other hand were fantastic with the creamy sauce on top really making it a great dish. I would come back here and order this over and over. Our waiter Luis was pleasant and was quick to serve us extra chips or drinks. Really thought the service was exceptional here. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Destin, Florida. If you are in the area you must give it a try. The food is fresh and the bartenders know how to make a drink. I love their watermelon margarita. Last time I was there when I ordered my second drink they were out of watermelon purée so they sent me a pineapple margarita free of charge. The food is the best Mexican Food East of Texas in the Florida Panhandle! The service was smooth and space has always been available when I come here. I ordered the Cheese Enchiladas with beans and rice. This will tell you how well it is prepared and they know what they are doing for most items on the menu. The enchiladas are corn with the Chili Con Carne on top. Just like you get Tex-Mex in Texas. Well prepared and seasoned. The refried beans are why I call rustic with a texture to them. Also, the Guac is not pudding but chunky with some not much spice but texture as well as some tomato and onions detected. Excellent meal and experience every single time. read more

To make it clear, this place is in a high-end area of Destin, so there are virtually no authentic Mexican food options here. We had been to this place for the first time a few years back and it was an above average experience, so always kept it in mind when we were in Sandestin. The next few times were average and the recent visit will be the last. Look at the captions of the food and it's self explanatory. The lack of waiting staff was being overworked. The lady waiting our table was throwing our stuff at us like a Dennys waitress. At the end we were served a birthday dessert that was inedible (melted ice cream over a brownie). One thing I couldn't figure out is crushing fresh guacamole at each table as some type magic performance. It's an avocado folks, not an exotic truffle. I guess they are expecting tourists from Nebraska and North Dakota to be in awwh.. Anyways, this gringoized Mexican chain needs to get it together. 2.75 stars. read more

Cantina Laredo is a good idea, nice clean place with big big potential. The environment was excellent and the staff that is there is great especially our server he was excellent and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks, 5 stars for him alone! With the exception of the bartender. The bad is that the food is nothing short than a cheap Mexican American restaurant. To put it simple, the rice tasted like my friends boxed rice that he uses for camping, the beans feel like they were just slapped on on the spot with no added seasonings, I mean I feel like these other big chain restaurants simply have better tasting food and they don't even cost half of what we paid for at this restaurant. The tortillas are simply mission tortillas store bought, the chips they bring in the beginning are missing thickness and seasoning, the sauce dip tastes like way too much tomato. The avocado and cheese dip is the same thing the guacamole has too much onions, like waaaay too much, and the cheese is nothing short of a taco cabana imitation. The meat was way too chewy all tough it did have a decent flavor. The margarita I got was way over priced for basically 3 shots of tequila, was not mixed well at all, bad bartender. I overall rate the place 2 stars only because the waiter was kick-as*. Save you're money guys. Hit up Taco Cabana or something. It has potential tho. read more

Good Mexican restaurant with an upscale vibe. The restaurant does not take reservations or call ahead seating, so you will receive a pager upon check in. They have a spacious outdoor dining area which faces a fountain and gathering area for the town center. The food is okay. You are served fairly standard chips and salsa upon seating. We ordered steak tacos and steak nachos. The tortilla was falling apart on the tacos, so that is a thumbs down from me. The steak nachos were served on large tortilla chips, the cheese was tasty and the steak was cooked and seasoned properly. I would ordered the nachos again, even as an appetizer. read more

Our first time trying this place, and it did not disappoint! The food exceeded our expectations and it's one of the best Mexican places in the 30A area. Prices were reasonable too. The complimentary chips were light and crispy and the salsa was freshly made. Entrees were very good and the rice was seasoned perfectly. What can I say- the outside dining area was extensive and spaced well apart (this is a covid-era review), the service was efficient, and the food came out hot. Food-wise: Is Applebees-esque a word? Visited her on a Sunday. Not crowded at all since it was November 6th. Very friendly staff and starting with the chips and salsa we knew this was going to be good. Chips were nice and warm and the salsa was very flavorful and not over the top with heat. I had chicken enchiladas and my wife had the two taco lunch. Both were outstanding and came with rice and beans all of which were very good. One of the best Mexican restaurants we have eaten at and we love Mexican food. Great job guys!
