As a W&L alum, Napa Thai is always at the very top of my "must revisit" list whenever I'm back in Lexington. I ate here all the time in college, and years later I still haven't found Thai food that hits quite the same. The ambiance is great, not too formal but still great for a date night. The food is consistently amazing. You really can't go wrong, but my personal favorites are the pad thai, panang curry, drunken noodles, and the fried rice. Everything is flavorful, comforting, and exactly what you want after a long day exploring or reminiscing in town. What makes this place even more special is the staff. They are unbelievably kind and welcoming whether you're there every week like I was during college or just stopping in every few years like I do now. They have also always been incredibly accommodating with my mushroom allergy, which I really appreciate. The fact that they even remembered me years later honestly says everything about the level of care here. Lexington may be a small town, but Napa Thai is truly a hidden gem and one of the places that makes coming back feel so nostalgic. If you're in the area, it's absolutely worth a visit read more

I appreciate the fact the menu isn't overwhelming. They really cater to all levels of gluten allergies. I heard several accommodations being made which is nice to see. I had the basil duck with a spice level of 5 that automatically came that way. I would have went atleast 8 or 9, 5 isn't spicy at all but I wasn't given the option. Veggie rolls were ok, I do like they came cut in half. Service was pretty slow for it being empty. I would come back but I will check other places out first. read more

Great food, and a good atmosphere. First time visiting and yelped some restaurants. Napa Thai had great reviews, so we decided to check it out. The reviews were right. Cost: VERY FAIR! 4 adults, dinner, drinks, and apps for under $115. (Plus tip). Score! Taste: excellent. We started with steamed dumplings and chicken satay. Both were superb! Service: good. We went at dinner rush on a Friday, and they were very crowded, so it wasn't lightning fast, but our food was piping hot when it came out, and our water glasses were never close to empty. And the server was very friendly and helpful. Variety: spectacular. I'll probably spend my next three years eating my way through the menu. Highly recommend! read more

Located in the historic district of Lexington, VA, Napa Thai is truly a gem. We found our meal to be exceptional. "Seafood BonBon". This dish is presented in the aluminum cooking tray that the waiter opens at your table. The steam and aroma of fresh seafood fills the air, Inside are large Scallops, Green Lip Mussels, Shrimp. Red peppers, Green Onions, Garlic and Thai Basil in a tasty Thai sauce. (We were able to substitute eggplant for red peppers.). Thank the chef for being so accommodating. Pad Prik King is a Green Bean & Red Pepper Stir Fry. Choose your protein.. Served in a Thai sauce. This a a house favorite according to our waiter. I had dinner there with a friend last night and it was fantastic. Both my friend and I are kind of picky eaters in so many different ways and then throw us together to place orders can be a challenge. They were very accommodating to both of our pickinesses! Spice levels were adjusted, multiple questions answered, and all with an endless supply of patience on our lovely servers part. Our meals were excellent, and the steamed dumplings are to die for. We were traveling north on I81 and looking for a late lunch. Yelp had some great recommendations and we selected Napa Thai with 4.5 stars. It is rated the top asian restaurant in the Shenandoah Valley. Only about 10 minutes from the Interstate and street parking, we were able to get in and out easily. We started by sharing some steam dumplings that are made by hand on the premises. You could tell the difference in taste right away. Not sure about the sauce but it complimented the dumplings. My friend had chicken pad Thai. The flavors were some of the best he's had. I ordered wanton soup and chicken Thai Garlic. It came with a mixture of vegetables including broccoli, carrots and onions. The sauce was perfect and paired well with the rice. The wanton soup was outstanding. Different than normal, it had really hand made dumplings, Napa cabbage and spring onions. The broth had great flavor and was not overloaded with MSG or salt. I really enjoyed it. All-in-all it was a positive experience. The staff seated us as soon as we arrived.. They took our drink orders and were pleasant and attentive. The restaurant was clean and had a good crowd considering it was 2:00 in the afternoon. I would definitely repeat!!! read more

Daughter came here for a soccer ID camp and I happened in bc I was craving pho and some Thai stir fry.... I've visited many many Thai places in Atlanta and so many more Pho places and by hands down... This is the best pho and stir fry and papaya salad I've ever had! I resorted to making my own pho at home bc i couldn't find a decent place but OH MY GOODNESS...I don't think I can ever eat pho anywhere else! Frank was an amazing server and I asked him for Spicy and he asked from 0-10 and I told him maybe 10...he politely just looked at me and asked maybe I go 7. Thank goodness he suggested that bc my mouth was on fire and I had to take my sweater off! Between the food and excellent customer service....I wish I could give more than 5 stars This is my very first Yelp review...that's how good it was!! When in Lexington...you must try!!! read more

I cannot help it, but it was SO BAD that I had to say something here. This must be THE worst thai food i've had in my life. The Tom Khao soup tasted like powdered Coconut or straight from an expired can and not the coconut/lemongrass, kind of sour, spicy and little bit of sweetness taste to it. It had none of those elements. The chicken meat that came in it along with the chicken in the drunken noodle dish was dry, old, and had cardboard texture. Not to mention the noodles were stuck together and more like a clump of starch rather than slippery , wide rice noodles that it should have been. Everything was so bad that the papaya salad actually stood out and was surprising decent. At least it didn't taste stale. And thr lettuce tasted just like lettuce. I don't know who the chef is, or if this place is even owned by am authentic thai owner. But it's about embarrassment to the culture and Asian cuisine. Please improve your food quality before serving to the public. In such a quaint little town with supposedly other "fine" choices, my husband and I were extremely disappointed to have stumbled in this restaurant. Good thing we were only passing through. But it's the worst $40 ever spent and we should have just ate at Burger King tonight. read more

One of the best Thai I have had in a while. My wife went with her usual drunken noodles and I went with my usual Panang curry. Both were delicious. Panang curry was flavorful. I asked for spicy one. So I had the extra heat. Really enjoyed. My wife didn't ask for extra spice and even then it was flavorful. Most often Thai restaurants tone down flavors, make it bland, or make their curry really thin. This was none of that. In addition chicken fried rice for kids and that was good too. The sign outside said this restaurant is the best Thai food in town. It may be the only Thai food in town. That said, this is great Thai food. We ordered the fried dumplings and steam dumplings as appetizers. We decided to not do chicken wings or calamari because you find those options everywhere. The dumplings were perfectly cooked and the sauces were great. The steamed dumpling sauce seems thicker than other places so I would guess it is house made. Unsure on the duck sauce but it did not disappoint. The chicken mixed vegetables was a perfect sized portion for the price. I was happy that it wasn't obscene in size. The vegetables were fresh and tasty and this will probably be a meal I order again and again. My son said the beef pad Thai was awesome and he was happy he ordered it. He wants to come back. There was a sign at the front that said because of lack of staffing, please be patient. They were friendly and timely in the delivery of the food. I didn't even notice a personnel shortage. We stopped here on our way to Virginia Tech. We thought Thai food sounded like a great alternative to fast food . They were busy with lots of diners there for various graduations. Wow! What a night! We had the best, funniest waiters! The food was good- we had typical Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and Panang Curry. My friend fell in love with her tea cup and kept teasing the waiter she would steal it except that it was chipped and she didn't want a chipped cup. Years ago, this was my first experience with Thai food, and it's definitely some of the best I've had since. They don't play around with the heat, but know if you ask for 1 star spicy, it's going to be 100% mild. I always go with 2 star spicy, even if it does melt my lips sometimes, it's better than none at all. If Thai food doesn't melt some part of your body, it ain't proper Thai food. read more

At first entrance to Napa Thai, it was like a long hallway (ramp?). We didn't know what to expect but at the end of the hallway, it opened up to a spacious restaurant. The staff is friendly and welcoming. My kids and I tried different dishes and they were all delicious. I hope one day to visit again. read more

Having arrived in Lexington after a long day, I was hungry and asked Google for local highly rated restaurants. Number 1 was Waffle House, so I searched for ALL eateries and noted this Thai restaurant. My wife refuses to eat the aforementioned, so I called ahead and was instructed that I I ought hurry over (I'd called on a Friday 5pm) since several robust groups had reservations at 7pm. I was promptly seated and waited upon. A 5 year old in the adjacent booth was trying to goad me into playing peek a boo, but I resisted the urge to regress to juvenile shenanigans. The fried banana was delish! The food was served promptly, was hot (temperature) , and quite tasty. If you like Thai (as do I!) definitely check them out! read more

I happened to find myself in historic Lexington, VA for work and was starting after my road trip. Most places were closed by the time I arrived and checked in to my hotel...but found this incredible gem. The service was amazing! I ordered the classic pho for dinner. It didn't come with the giant fancy plate of add-ins like you might find in other spots, but the soup was no less delicious, and I rather enjoyed the simplicity. I had a tad of a sweet-tooth, so I indulged in their "fried bananas and coconut ice cream" which really hit the spot. The bananas were little mini lumpia-like wraps and the ice cream was simply divine...creamy with some texture from perfectly toasted bits of coconut. And the price was great for the portions!!! Even better for a cheap fat guy like me! Would definitely come back! If I lived here, this would be a regular spot for me! read more

After living in Lexington three years we finally decided to give this restaurant a try. What a shame that we wasted those years without dining here. When you look at the restaurant from the street you expect it to be a little hole in the wall. Upon entering the restaurant you walk down a long wide corridor and then enter the main area which is huge and well decorated in an Asian style but not overly garish. We were there for lunch so it wasn't too busy and we were immediately seated. Being new to Thai cuisine it took us some time to read through our menu. Our server, Setty, was so nice and patient in explaining all the different foods. I got the green curry with shrimp (you can also order it with chicken or pork) which I loved. However, be advised that Thai food is hotter than Indian and I definitely needed my beer. Also, Thai curry differs from Indian in that it is more like a soup with rice served on the side. Also started with the spring rolls which were hot and crispy. My husband had the crispy shrimp which I will get next time. Portions are quite large. It is obvious that everything was prepared to order and not sitting in the kitchen under a heat lamp. Overall it was a delightful experience and we will definitely return. read more

Our experience that Napa Thai was overly good. This restaurant is located in Lexington Virginia. The food quality was very good. We had steamed dumplings, crispy tofu stirfry vegetables, basil fried rice, crispy, shrimp roast duck and mango with sticky rice. The only issue seemed to be our waiter was new not as friendly as we would've liked and not as knowledgeable about the Food food. For example, we had a hot sake of 750 mL to share and he did not know what that meant and he gave two separate cares over the meal. I think he should be a little bit more interactive with the customers asking for example how things were is there anything else I can give to you is for an opportunity to care clear the plates, which was not done, but I think this will come if he is given better direction. The food however, was exceptional. The quality was good and without question we would come back for the food. The Napa Thai cuisine restaurant deserves to have an upscale wait staff and knowledgeable. Perhaps the management should focus on educating at least in our case the waiter that we Had. That would certainly help in bringing it closer to a five star. read more

I ordered drunken noodles and papaya salad to-go, and the wait is only 10 mins. The drunken noodle with beef smells so good that I can't wait to eat it and forgot to take a picture (of course the drunken noodles taste amazing). However, the papaya salad was a bit disappointing. I'm not sure if that's because of the papaya or the seasonings, it tastes nothing like what I had in Asia... Anyway, I would come back and try other noodle items, but I will for sure stay away from the papaya salad. read more
