Over all not bad at all. The food is decent and the prices are reasonable for a sit down establishment. Typical of most ethnic restaurants in the south & mid west the food is tamed down for the American tastes. The service was excellent, Joe was very friendly and made us feel at home. We will return. Very disappointed! We ordered kung pao chicken, crab puffs, and, chicken fried rice. Brought it home opened it up and the kung pao was basically just peanuts and green peppers with onions. Visited yesterday for lunch and ordered the Walnut Shrimp. Have had this dish at many restaurants and never once was the shrimp breaded like they did at this restaurant. I wondered why on earth they would ruin such a delicious dish as I removed the breading from my shrimp. Then looking at the large stack of breading I realized it's to make it look like a huge amount of food. Most of my food at this restaurant was starch. Bland rice (I should've ordered steamed), deep fried flour that I guess they wanted to pass off as wonton, egg roll with rotten tasting cabbage inside and of course the thickly breaded shrimp. We will not be coming back. I hope we can find a good Chinese restaurant but there really aren't many around Prescott. read more

But why do I always end up with that one grumpy waiter? we went there for lunch, shared #15, mifun with chicken. we substituted meat for tofu. they put down two egg drop soups, even though we were ordering one entree. I have been all over Prescott and eaten at most of the different restaurants here and around for many years. I first moved here in 1974 so over the years I've seen alot of places come and go. As far as Asian food in this area there are many great places that come to mind but, the best of all of them is without a doubt the Canton Dragon over by where the Albertson's used to be. If you want a solid place with very decent prices then this is where you want to go for lunch or dinner. They've been around for a long time and just keep getting better. The food was better than the other Chinese Restaurant in Prescott I reviewed, because everything didn't taste the same, but still not great. We ordered General Tso's Chicken and twice cooked pork. Neither dish looked or tasted like any Tso's or twice cooked pork we have ever had. In addition, we asked for spice level of 7, and it was about a 3. Seriously the worst restaurant!! Save yourself some money and go to the Panda Express right across from it. First, we walk in and get seated no problem there. We noticed that Fat Joe and Akon were playing from their speakers. Rap really? Next, we were given water which one of our glasses had a crack in it. The Salt & Pepper Squid smelled horrible and tasted just as bad. Frankly this was just an all around horrible experience the waitress and staff treated us as an inconvenience. They are overpriced!! Featuring Cantonese, Szechuan, and Mandarin Chinese cuisine, Canton Dragon is likely the best Chinese restaurant in the Prescott area. Located near the intersection of Montezuma and Sheldon Streets - in the Albertson's strip mall - you will find the Canton Dragon. When I first saw this restaurant, I questioned whether the food was good. I feared that the darkly tinted windows concealed a culinary disaster. I was wrong. Upon entering this restaurant, you will note the darkly lit ambience - provided by the dark window tint and low lighting. Expect somewhat of a crowd, depending on both the time of day and day of the week. However, I have never been required to wait for seating, as there is an abundance of seating - and my visits usually have not been during peak hours. For dinner, I recommend "Beef on a Skewer" as an appetizer. However, if you are going with another person, I highly recommend the "Po Po Platter." The Po Po Platter comes with egg rolls, fried wantons, fried shrimp, BBQ ribs, paper wrapped chicken, and beef on a skewer. And in the center of the platter, an awesome heater-thingy with blue flames (used for heating the skewers)! The Po Po Platter is priced at $6.50 per person. For an entrée, I recommend the "Chow Fun," and "Roast Duck." The Chow Fun consists of flat rice noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef, and bean sprouts. The Chow Fun and Roast Duck are $12.95 and $16.95, respectively. Entrée portions are very generous. If you are visiting with two or more people, you may want to CONSIDER the "Canton Special Dinner." Well, I try & only write good posts on Yelp to help people like us find good restaurants. hotels etc...(unless it's really bad) so, after eating at & putting up with rude service and so so food at Canton Dragon for the last ten years we had the grand finale tonight!!! Because of our allergies to shellfish & knowing exactly what we can eat at Canton Dragon we continued to order out Chinese from this restaurant. Tonight I ordered the same thing we have ordered for the past ten years....Ginger Chicken & Mongolian Beef...not a big, hard order, right??? Well, my husband went to pick up the order & the lady said we DID NOT order any Mongolian Beef....well, I did & he was sitting next to me & heard me. He waited for them to bring out the Mongolian Beef, which just took a few minutes...He got home with the order & it was not Ginger Chicken but a Chicken dish which we have never seen or ordered before so I called them. The lady was NOT friendly or helpful at all!!! She argued with me & told me I had ordered Garlic Chicken...I didn't even know there was such a dish!! She told me to hang on as she would have to go talk to someone else as it was not her fault... My husband took the food back & they were VERY RUDE!!! The lady at the front desk just kept arguing with my husband telling him HE was RUDE & he had received what I had ordered & for him to NEVER COME BACK....WOW! The man behind him in line, also waiting for a pick up order, said he just had to laugh at the ladies behavior. ON A GOOD NOTE....tonight was the last time we will visit or suggest this restaurant to new comers. Being in real estate & having new comers ask for the best eateries etc we will not send anyone here to be treated poorly or eat mediocre Chinese food. We have seen the reviews for Beijing Gardens for years & they have always been a lot better than Canton Dragon but were afraid to try due to our shellfish allergies. After having to argue with Canton Dragon about what we ordered tonight my husband went to Beijing Gardens & ordered the same dishes from them....WOW! What a pleasant surprise. The food was so much fresher, not so salty & so much better!! Thank you Canton Dragon for being so rude & having such processed tasting food, we now have a great new favorite Chinese Restaurant to recommend to our "New Comers" & eat ourselves BECAUSE of your poor customer service & stale, over processed, salty food. I went with a group of people each time, and each plate of food was horrible. The servers aren't friendly, don't pay attention to see if you need anything, and don't come back to check on you. Ugh. Decided to write a review because there are more than a few undeserved one star reviews of this place. I come from the Portland, Oregon area which has Asian food coming out of it's ears and I cook Cantonese wok food very regularly. I'm not bragging but just a note that I know my way around Chinese food decently well. First off, the con's: The service is terrible. Not the worst I've ever experienced or rude; just abrupt to nonexistent. The service drops this place from 4 stars to 3 stars. Secondly the prices are slightly high although they are offset by very large portion sizes, easily enough for two meals. On to the pros: The Food! Really excellently done stir fry! I've been to this restaurant 5 times and ordered 5 different dishes. Everything is cooked perfectly, neither over or underdone. This is not your typical cheap crappy American Chinese with sickly sweet or salty dishes drowning in sauce. The reviewers who seem to think the food must be microwaved because it came out so fast have clearly never made a stir fry in their life. Properly cooked stir fry on a restaurant wok range takes 1-2 minutes TOPS. That's what happens when you put food in a carbon steel wok over a 100,000k+ BTU range, food cooks FAST. Microwaved chicken usually has a fairly distinct rubbery texture that was nonexistent in the food I ate here. The kitchen is pretty cautious with the heat due to them catering to American tastes but if you really bug them they will make it spicy. Best Asian food in Prescott that is let down by poor service. As a disclaimer I will say that if you're used to high quality big city Chinese food you may be a little disappointed but for a small town like Prescott you won't find better. I recommend the Mongolian Beef or the Combination Rice Noodles. Pretty much everything I've tried in the Chef's Specialties section of the dinner menu is delicious. read more

Drove around for a Saturday afternoon lunch post-movie. The exterior is quite unique for a Chinese restaurant, which drew us there. The restaurants interior was just as impressive. However, the customer service and food left much to be desired. Immediately after using the restroom, I was pressed to make a drink and food option. I hadn't received a menu yet. A gelatinous soup was placed. It looked similar to Egg Drop but tasted like aged chicken stock. Two rounds of two different waiters in 3 minutes and I had a good idea of what I'd get. I had no time to pick something new so l went with an oldie but goodie, General Tso's Chicken. Horrible. Battered and fried, like Sweet and Sour Chicken usually is, but swimming in sauce and onions. No broccoli or likened attributes. My partner's Spicy Beef was also battered. This has never been the case with either dish from countless other restaurants dining the same cuisine. Service was not good and they were not busy. I asked for hot tea and I had to ask twice because they forgot to bring it out. My son ordered the beef chow mein and the meat had a chewy texture and very bland taste. He did not eat the meat. It was placed on a napkin and probably not good for a dog to even eat. I ordered the chicken and vegetables which was okay but did not finish it. They brought our check out like 5 minutes after we were served our food and never asked if we needed anything else or how our food was. I've been eating here for many years, but have not been here for several months. So when some out of town company came out to visit we decided to go there. We a had a few of us so we ordered lots of stuff. Sweet and sour chicken, mongolloen beef, lemon chicken (stir fried not deep fired), twice cook pork, etc.. we filled the table. I've read some bad reviews, but to be honest, I did not find anything wrong. chicken tasted great, egg rolls were good, pork was fine, all the vegetables were fresh. Are there better places for Asian food? yes, there are. But this is not a bad place. service was fine, and food was good. we came for dinner and it was a good time. no complaints. Experience was not so great. Felt rushed from the beginning shuffled off into a side room because they were cleaning already well guests were still dining even running a vacuum cleaner at one point. They even took my condiments away to refill them while I was still eating felt very unwelcome and. And I don't believe they even realized how rude they were treating their guests. If stuff is in such a hurry to leave at the end of the evening mind you this was only 730... and they should make shorter hours and use the last hour after closing for the cleaning.
