On a recent trip to the Prescott area, I was in the mood for some good Chinese food. After reading reviews for Canton Dragon, I decided to give it a try. When you first walk in the door, the decor is pretty and definitely Chinese. The restaurant is clean and big enough to accommodate larger groups. I was seated quickly and decided to try the Jalapeño Chicken, which was a dish I hadn't heard of. The servers were kind and very efficient, my lunch special came out fast and the plate was piled high. I can only imagine how large the dinner portions are. The restaurant offers the usual choices like Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Kung Pao Delight. The Jalapeño Chicken was served in a flavorful sauce with lots of vegetables and for those who like a little more heat, they have a variety of condiments. Prices are reasonable, lunch was great and if I'm ever back in the area, will definitely have lunch here again. read more

Went to my friends house in Prescott Valley. We decided to stay in for the night so we ordered takeout from Canton Dragon 2. The portion sizes were quite large and so I'm glad we only got two for the four of us. We had an order of sweet-and-sour chicken and an order of chicken chow mein. Along with an order of white rice, egg rolls, etc. Everything was fantastic! My friends tell me that if you go during the lunch hour, they have a lot of stuff that comes with a meal. It's a smaller portion, but you get soup and egg rolls and rice, etc. Definitely wanna try that out and we found another one downtown Prescott.. The only complaint I have is we ordered it for delivery and no one rang a doorbell or anything and we were sitting out back waiting for the food. Finally, when we were like, I wonder where the food is we went and looked and it had been sitting outside on the front porch. That was a little disappointing because we don't know how long it had been sitting there. It wasn't hot so it probably been sitting there a while. But loved the food and we are looking forward to trying the one downtown and maybe ordering from that one from our home. read more

Not much personality (no words of welcome) by the one taking us to our table but got seated right away! Server was nice. The chicken egg foo yung was badly burnt and almost inedible. Loved our meal at Canton Dragon in Prescott Valley, AZ Authentic food, charming peaceful and nice music. My husband and I go at least once a month. Reasonable in price and they offer take-out which is very popular! Louis is a nice young man who always provides excellent service. Kathleen is authentically charming and respectful in her manners and greets you immediately when you enter. She is a hard worker despite a slight disability walking. I have only been here once years ago and had a bad experience. But this year my good friend was having her 56th Bday and wanted to eat here for her birthday. There were 4 of us in the group. I ordered Singapore Mifun. I order this ALL the time. And when I picked it up tonight it was covered in sesame seeds. I HATE sesame seeds. It's never had them on it before. Ordered to go and the food was hot and ready and ontime at 6, we were in a hurry to get home and watch Argentina v England semifinals and so this was great. The food selection may have been a mistake, next time we come here we will order differently. The Kung Pao Mifun Delight $21 had complex flavors, not the Kung Pao we were used to. I liked it, but she didn't. I found the noodles tasty and the spice level just right. Broccoli shrimp chicken beef and onion were all blended in niicely. The Wor WonTon Soup $16 sadly we did not bother eating. Huge foldings of undercooked dough filled the container. Some stiff thinly-sliced rectangles of carrot had been added to unidimensional broth along with shavings of cooked protein and a couple stiff shrimp and that was about it. I haven't been here for years due to not having a very good experience last time. This time wasn't any better. After a quick seating around 4:30 pm, I ordered some sweet and sour tempura shrimp for an appetizer. Ok, but a little gummy. The Kung Pao Mifun delight was my main course. It was okay.. huge portion which I took most of home. It was actually better the next day. My daughter ordered Chinese wonton noodle soup which she said was ok. We also tried an order of pork dim sum from their menu. There was just a tiny bit of pork inside.. It was all dough. I would not order that again. The interior is nice and clean, and our server was nice... but... the one thing that really bothered me was the small grey haired Asian man at the front of the house.. maybe the owner. He wasn't friendly at all and would come ask us what we ordered after we already placed our orders with our server. When I told him that our order was already taken, he just said "I need to know what you order!" in a thick Asian accent. The last major mistake in my opinion, occurred as we were getting ready to leave. The server brought our bill back after I paid, I signed the receipt, leaving a good tip for our server which was nice to us. As I'm standing up and getting ready to pick up our to go boxes, the Asian man comes up and actually reaches around me to grab the signed bill off the table without saying a word. Maybe it shouldn't bother me, but after thousands of dining experiences in my life, my bill is never taken off the table until I at least walk away from the table. The food here was just okay, nothing special. When we walked in, the place was dead quiet, we thought they had closed really early. We were going to leave, they said to come in and that they were still open. There were only 2 other people eating inside, and we were hesitant to eat there. They brought out some free soup for us and crispy wonton chips and hot tea. We ordered the curry chow mein and happy family chef's special. They were decent, but lacking in flavor, especially the curry chow mein. The portions were a good size, but the service was slow even though we were the only ones left in the dining room. We decided to check this place out as they were still open when we were in the area. It was really quiet, there was only like one other couple eating inside, granted we were only there about an hour before close. They welcomed us in and the staff was very friendly. I am giving them an extra star for this. The decor was pretty typical Chinese restaurant. We ordered some curry chow Mein and happy family chef's special, I think I preferred the chow mein of the two. The servers gave us some free soup and wontons I think because business was slow. It was a nice Gesture. The food was ok. I would try it again, but maybe order something else the next time. We really had some good Chinese food here and even though the prices are a little high, they give you enough food that you've definitely got leftovers for the next day. We live full time in an RV. Our lifestyle allows us to travel extensively and visit many places. Today, we visited Prescott, AZ. These days it is a bit difficult to find a full service Chinese Restaurant. The Canton Dragon fit our needs completely. The atmosphere and the service staff were very accommodating. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. The menu included all of the traditional restaurant fare. There were also several items we had not come across before. They even have a Dim Sum menu. Our waiter helped us navigate the myriad choices. We chose won ton soup and moo goo gai pan. Hot tea rounded out our meal selection. The soup and tea were a perfect starter. They were prepared to perfection and served hot and fresh. The same was true for the moo goo gai pan. The portion was generous. The chicken was tender, juicy and perfectly flavored. The vegetables were fresh and plentiful. The entire meal was fantastic and we left fully satisfied and eager to return and try some of their other choices. read more

I can't enough good things about our meal here. We travel and we were pleasantly surprised to find an eat in Chinese restaurant. It was clean with a beautiful atmosphere, the servers were attentive and pleasant and the tableware very nice. The food was outstanding starting with the hot tea and wonton soup. very nasty people. We are from east coast and close to philly china town. Almost always we order several appetizers and one main meal. Never had a problem. At this place we tried this and they stuck a large "sharing charge " on our bill. We asked what this was for and were told we could not share a meal. So its ok to share the apps but not a meal. We asked to see the manager and the owner came out and started yelling at us for questioning restaurant policy, we tried to tell him we ordered lots of things and that we always share. Not here you don't. So we paid our bill and left. We will NEVER go here again. We relate this story to everyone that asks about a chinese restaurant in town. They should not be in the business. You won't get sick with the food but I wouldn't return. I've been here three times, and last time, I ordered sweet and sour chicken with plain white rice. The chicken comes in fried pieces which it should and that tasted good. Everything else was a total disappointment. The dish comes with a bit of a onions, carrots and green bell peppers slices. And all of the vegetables were old, sliced days ago and tasted stale. I was also disappointed about them not offering a small portion of hot and sour soup, a Chinese restaurant staple. You gotta opt for the big portion at 15+$. Their side of fried rice, that they charge extra for, is nothing but plain white rice smeared in cookies oil. No sign of eggs, and definitely NO vegetables of any kind in there ... The Asian servers are weird/unwelcoming (happened EVERY time I've been here). They don't say a word. The young Latino was friendly. All in all, a total miss. If you must go, I'd opt for something fried with no vegetables. read more

I attempted to dine in on Christmas evening. The man apparently in charge of the dining area tried to seat a couple that came in after me. I interrupted him and told him I wanted a table. He tried to seat me in a booth. It took five minutes to receive a complimentary glass of water. I ordered tea without lemon. He brought me tea with a lemon slice in the tea. He placed a note with the number 18 on my table. He then changed my number to 17. I saw a woman studying the menu while standing at the cash register. I asked to place my order so I could be in front of the to go orders that were placed after I arrived. He refused. He did not see what happened but assured me that I did not see what I saw. I don't understand one star reviews on this restaurant. It was great service, great food, and wonderful ambience. We had sizzling rice soup, which was delicious. The Popo platter was great and enough for one person to never order anything else. The warm sake is delicious and the wine comes filled to the top of every glass. What can I say? I am very disappointed in service today. Whoever I spoke on the phone with was very rude. I ordered to-go. I get home my order is wrong. I called to let them know my order was wrong and if I could get the right order and pick up.. they argued saying I ordered this specifically and was not able to get the plate I asked for. They said they could have me listen to the phone call to prove that I ordered this order. What kind of establishment does this? My family and I loved ordering take out here for years and never had an issue but now we will never be eating here again. They treated us like crap over the phone. This Chinese restaurant used to be okay. My husband and I enjoyed going here and trying different foods. The last three times I have been here I have been severely disappointed. From the moment you walk in the door you feel like you are a hassle to the staff. They seem to have Busboys that will get you drinks but they don't take orders. These last three times I've had an older gray haired Chinese man, wearing a mask, with a piss poor attitude. I hardly even dare talk about the food as it's not worth talking about. The orange chicken was 95% breading with 5% maybe chicken. The egg drop soup has literally no taste. How can something based in chicken broth have no taste? And the big lazy Susan on our table was grimy with grease. If you share a plate they now charge and extra 2 dollars. I could live with that, but I cannot live with the fact that for parties of four or more they automatically include an 18% gratuity. I have never felt like the service there is worth over the standard 15%. Oh and by the way if you use a credit card they charge you for that also. In my opinion there are much better places to eat around here in Prescott Valley and Prescott. Canton Dragon needs to pick up their game or they will be closing their doors! read more

Average food at best! We love all kinds of Asian food, especially Chinese and Japanese. This was our first dining experience at Canton Dragon 2! Staff were NOT very fluent in English-a disappointment. The dishes we had were just, OK as far as flavor. The only thing done well was how fast they serve customer. We could tell, this food was ready in the kitchen because it came out so fast and was very warm, but clearly NOT, piping hot! The Crispy Chicken was clearly more dough than chicken. Several pieces were only crispy dough with no chicken inside. They have a long way to go to compare to excellent Asian/Chinese restaurants down in the valley. The ambiance is dull! One thing that would help is for this restaurant to install some kind of soft, Asian/Chinese music. This was the absolute worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life! I ordered General Taos Spicy Chicken and it was so sweet I couldn't eat it. I asked the old man with a mask on below his nose why it wasn't spicy and he told me to take it home and put some hot sauce on it! I actually couldn't even tell what the meat was. Should I get started about the mushy egg rolls? YUCK! My husband ordered the Mongolian Beef and didn't like it either. He took the beef pieces to give to our dog and the dog wouldn't even eat it! Terrible service. They racially profile you while walking in and base their service accirdingly. I walked in and was told the bar was only togo in an agressive tone by an older gentleman. When i asked why there was someone clearly sitting at the bar eating he was more agressive about not sitting at the bar.
