Canton Express, after eating at this place for many years, is a solid three stars. The inside is always dirty and I'm never sure what kind of service i'm going to get. I like the food better than typical Chinese food places. It's just a little different. Tonight my kids split a sweet and sour chicken dinner while my wife and I split a General Tso's chicken dinner. The dinner portions have always been big enough to split between two people. Tonight, sadly, my spring rolls were really burned. My crab rangoons were better than the standard little ones you get at most places. The fried rice was kind of shitty but there was a lot of it. I'm not sure that's a good thing. I wouldn't go out of my way or anything like that. Canton makes me nostalgic for being broke as a joke living in an apartment in Speedway but none of those things apply to me anymore so maybe it's time to move on. read more

I have read all of the reviews, not sure where those people are comparing. I've had nothing but excellent meals from here. I live in Castleton and drive to Speedway. I have found it to be the best Chinese take out in town. It is very reasonably priced and generous servings. The Chicken Spring Rolls appeared to be hand made, not the frozen ones. I'm very surprised by the reviews on here. I've tried several different Chinese restaurants in the northwest part of downtown and Speedway and this is the only, seriously the ONLY, one worth coming back to! Every dish was spicy hot even when I didn't expect it! That's a huge plus for me. The chicken dishes also had quality meat in them, no mystery chewy or chunky parts. The hot and sour soup was some of the best I've had. You definitely get a bang for your buck here. If you're looking for something fancy, yes this probably isn't for you. I just don't get some of the reviews on here. This place provides VERY inexpensive Chinese Food and delivers! Why does seem like people want gourmet for cheap?! For the price this place is more than accommodating. The Food: - Much more flavorful than expected. - Didn't even need to add soy sauce or anything extra. - It certainly isn't the best Chinese Fold but it's worth going with again. - the cost is great for the service provided. I was doing to get a family style plate (fried rice, General Tso's Chicken, Beef in Garlic Sauce - total cost $30+, but they offered 2 dinner specials instead with side of fried rice plus egg rolls or hot and spicy soup for just under $20! The only place in Indy Metro area to get Malaysian noodle dishes like Char Kway Tiaw, Cantonese Fried Mee, Curry Noodle. Good quality and quantity. I usually order one and can eat them twice or even three times. It looks like standard Chinese food until you order the food. The cook is actually Malaysian, so you know it's somewhat authentic. If you live within 5 miles of speedway, this Chinese restaurant is a MUST! Being a big Chinese food fan, this place is great because you can order online, and they deliver (within a 5 mile radius). This was my first time here. Have been looking for good Chinese takeout in the Speedway area and I think this will be my go to. The Crab Rangoons are some of the BEST I have ever had. And the General Tso's is the best I've been able to find in Speedway so far. It actually has some spice and a good flavor. The chicken was way undercooked and I had to throw it all away. The egg drop soup tasted burnt and I had to pay $1.64 for the crackers for soup. I will not be going back. Ever. read more

Absolutely love it! They're Chinese food isn't extremely greasy like in most other Chinese establishments, it's has a unique flavor and they're portions are very generous! My favorite is their pineapple fried rice, chicken wings, and crab Rangoon. You must try, I moved from speedway to Avon and I still make the drive to come get my Chinese food from here when I'm in the mood for Chinese. I was disappointed in the crab rangoons - a chinese restaurant must - and my sesame chicken was mediocre. most chinese places have a "combination" platter with the option of fried rice, but they only have steamed. I have ordered from here before and had no complaints. However, we ordered orange chicken and lo mein this week and it was mediocre, AT BEST. Generic, VERY little sauce on chicken, lo mein had a very strange taste. Two stars only because the crab ragoons were pretty good. read more

On 2/13/2016 I called and placed an order at 7:16. At 9:15 I called to see what the hold up was and they said they got the road wrong and would be here directly. I live less than ten min from them so I waited. At 9:30 I called again and was assured on its way. At 9:45 I called again and asked if it was indeed coming and they said it was on its way. At 10:00 pm they closed for the night and we went to Taco Bell. At 1:24 pm the following day - Still waiting. Sad thing is you've lost a customer that has been ordering delivery for over 15 years and you've never had an issue finding my house prior to this. This is the only Chinese I eat. I've read the reviews from most on here. So here is the thing this is legit food. Its not the BS sysco preplanned junk you get at every other "Chinese " restaurant. If you like the bland fried to shit panda express style crap, you'll hate canton. If you've ever had real handmade Chinese food this is your spot. The general Tso is the best you'll get in the city. If you like egg rolls skip them here, same for the egg drop. The egg rolls aren't made with the wanton wrappers that get super crispy with the little exploded air bubbles on the outside. They double wrap a rice paper roll which fries up crispy but is crumbly on the outside and a bit soggy in the center. The egg drop is just basic fast Chinese manufactured "yellow" broth with egg. Instead live a little and get the hot and sour. Its delicious and far different then the standard throw away you've had elsewhere. The beef in garlic sauce and capital pork are very good. The sweet and sour pork or chicken are both of good quality but just basic flavor. The dumplings are a solid appetizer the mini fried wanton are also pretty solid. I'm not a fan of the crab rangoon's but only because of the green onions and their ability to not mask but destroy any other flavor. If you get plain fried rice its just that PLAIN....FRIED.....RICE. you want vegetables order vegetable fried rice. You want a meal of it? I suggest the pineapple fried rice. Spicy, fresh, sweet and complex for a basic rice dish. If you decide to go with delivery which I often do ordering on beyond menu is best imo. Phone ordering can be tough because of communication and staff level. Its a small place with only 2-3 worker at any given time. You can dine in but its not a looker and certainly not something they work at. I would skip the dine in. Overall a great local spot with good out of the norm Chinese food. Prices are very fair and delivery is a convenient option as well as online ordering through 3rd party sources. Its a solid 4 star spot that I'm giving 5 to boost due to the clowns who have rated it far too low. read more

This was by far, the most disappointing food experience I have had in years. After being ill I wanted to treat myself to delivery a good movie and some of my favorite foods. Ordered bourbon chicken, egg rolls, crab rangoons, and beef fried rice. The bourbon chicken was in water with no sauce and the soggy egg rolls smelled weird like cinnamon...I.didn't get to the beef as stomach was already turning. This is a refund worthy experience: over an hour late and the driver stood and talked on.his.speaker phone in my.driveway for three minutes holding my.food.in the cold...actuallu put the pen in.his nose while waiting for the card reader to work and I still tipped the man! This place sits neatly next to a Jimmy Johns. As I drove up I fancied a bit of Chinese and decided to go in for the first time since moving to Speedway. I was oblivious at first of my surroundings as I was very hungry, but after ordering and paying I realised the place was a filthy. The kitchen as far as I could see through a window was disgusting. The drinks machine had Dr.Pepper stains all over the wall next to it that had clearly been there for a long long looooong time. I got the food and went home to eat it. The flavour wasnt bad as its almost impossible to ruin Chinese food if put enough soy sauce into it. I finished my Lo-mein and hope that I dont regret it. My wife however couldnt finish her Spring rolls as they were covered in grease and tasted old and crummy. The portions were small, and for Chinese it was expensive. We didnt get napkins, sauce or even chop-sticks. All in all a bad experience, but you live and you learn. We wont be going back there anytime soon. There are better places down the road. read more

I guess it's kind of hit or miss with place according to most of these reviews. Got some dinner take out with my wife the other night while we were out and about. The inside was empty, but very dirty. Didn't look like it had been cleaned all day. We ended up ordering two of the General Tso Combos with friend rice and a side of some Plain Lo Mein. The fried rice to me is really sub par, and I couldn't take it. It tasted stale and didn't have any vegetables or anything. The General Tso was the perfect combination or sweet, with that little punch. The Lo Mein was good as well, I just couldn't take the friend rice or their egg rolls. Maybe next time I'll try just regular white rice if we return? Just another average Indianapolis Chinese restaurant in my opinion. read more

Very poor service. I placed my order online at 7. A little after they called to tell me they didn't have an item. An hour later still no food. I called and they said the driver is on his way. Another 20 minutes passed. Still no delivery. Called again and spike with someone different. Her English was very broken and she told me that the food was on the way and we would get 10% off!!!
