Great food We had a great time here to celebrate my daughter's birthday. There are two sections. At first we were in the back section upon walking in and it was a bit cold on a cold day. But they moved us to the front without a hassle. We ordered Fried rice, Spring rolls, Pad see, Chicken lo mei. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. The service was very warm and inviting. One notable exception on the northwest edge of town is Tian Fu. It's in a residential area, in strip mall, with convenient parking. Tian Fu offers authentic Chinese and Japanese (sushi) food. For this day and age, and considering the quality and quantity of the food, the prices were reasonable, and a good value: Soup Dumpling $10.95; Shanghai Rice Cake 11.95; Old Mama's Pickled Pepper Fish $18.95; and Golden Tofu $13.95. The food was great. We would return. Note: there is a similarly named restaurant on the eastern edge of Indy. Not sure if it's under the same ownership. So my best friend and I are obsessed with soup dumplings since having them in NYC last year and the only place we have found them so far in Indy is Tian Fu! We ordered the pork soup dumplings and they hit the spot for now (until NYC again ) We also ordered a couple sushi rolls, pineapple fried rice, and a pepper beef off the Chinese menu. Quiet, low lighting makes for a fantastic place to wind down for lunch. Service is prompt and to-the-point, without unnecessary small talk, yet lovely and pleasant. This was my first experience and I went with a large group so we got to try several dishes. The bao was excellent and reminded me of my Mom's. Wood ear mushrooms, Szechuan Mapo Tofu, spicy beef, rice noodles, green beans, and dumplings. Had a lunch date with my daughter and after finding out that the only dim sum place closed in Indy, we were looking for some new spots. Tian Fu is bigger than I expected and the menu was HUGE to the point of overwhelming. They had Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food. We ordered: Salt & Pepper Calamari: We really liked the calamari, but I wish there was some sort of sauce to balance it out and I felt like the lettuce was not needed. The calamari itself was delicious and we ate it all. The soup dumplings were good and I liked the flavor. It was a fun experience for my daughter who was wondering how soup got into the dumpling! Walnut shrimp: it was crispy on the outside and the candied walnuts added a lovely crunch that contrasted nicely with the shrimp. Party of nine on Christmas Day. I'm willing to cut some slack because few restaurants are open, and this one was jammed when we arrived at 1pm. The staff were already fried. Not a happy face anywhere. Our waiter arrived in about 20min to take drink orders. Food arrived, dish by dish, for the next 1.5 hours. The food was mostly OK. Basic items like silverware and napkins had to be obtained manually. Also to-go boxes. Last year, it was a three star. This year, two. We won't be back. Perhaps it's not a Larson cartoon (Crisis clinic on fire, about to go over some waterfalls), but it came close. The food as not bad; it was OK, nothing above average. I wish I could say better because my sister thinks it's fine.... until her meal arrived somewhat cold, ninety-minutes after we sat. It was mostly empty by the time we left; restaurants are a tough business, especially on Christmas. Will we be there next Christmas? Nope. read more

Our foodie group came to Tian Fu Asian Bistro for dinner to celebrate the Chinese New Year, and it was more than I bargained for that night. The ambiance is beautiful and gorgeous with a nice Chinese decor and atmosphere,but it was extremely packed wall to wall. I had heard how amazing and incredible the food is here, and I can concur that this was the case for the night. The service, however, was disappointing. Our server was running around the restaurant ragged taking care of a bunch of tables at once because the restaurant was busy and packed for the Chinese New Year. Some people in our group waited over an hour for their food! The service was slow and the server did not speak clear English so it was hard to understand her at times. She did the best she could given how busy the restaurant was that night, but we were still disappointed with the service. The food did make up for the slow service. I ordered the chicken teriyaki entree with Miso soup and salad. It was terrific! The chicken teriyaki was very flavorful and had the perfect texture. The Miso soup was delicious and the salad was good. The red curry chicken looked amazing that my friend ordered and the hot and sour soup also looked terrific. From what my group told me, the restaurant is not usually busy, so this was unusual for the place to be packed,but since it is the Chinese New Year, it would be conceivable that the restaurant would be busy. I'm sure if I came back to Tian Fu Asian Bistro another night when it is not busy, the service would be better. I came here with a few friends and a lot of what we had was really good. I would definitely come back here for my Chinese fix. Food was chines legitimate. The soup dumplings were really good. You have to eat it right away as it comes out. We also ordered Dan Dan noodles, which were also really good. I would order both of those again. Pig ears were good. What I wouldn't order again is the Peking Duck. I like Cantonese style peking duck better. The duck meat and skin here just didn't have the same effect as if it were thinly cut. Once again, we are on the hunt for good Chinese food in Indy to feed my college student. It was located nearby after shopping at a Costco. It is in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Maybe because I asked for a table in Chinese, it was assumed we wanted Chinese food (which we did). So we got the Chinese menu. The name of the restaurant has the word Asian in it, and I see later the other side has the Japanese offerings. I can confirm that they serve authentic Chinese food, not just Americanized Chinese. We went with the soup dumplings, scallion pancakes and 2 other dishes. They were all very good! The skin on the soup dumplings were thin (just the way we like it) and tasty. We really liked the pocket tofu and bamboo/pork dishes. The bamboo had red chili so it had kick. The menu doesn't tell you which is spicy (which we don't really eat) so just ask. We were interested in ordering a lo Mein dish but it wasn't on that menu (maybe on the all English menu?). There is table and booth seating as well as large round tables for groups.
