When a quick decision ends up being a good one. Had heard about this place on Yelp. Was in the area and decided to give it a try. My pork dish was delicious. Very spicy but not too much for me. Took beef noodle soup to go. Daughter praised it as close to one we got in San Diego. Not a fan of the water fountain thing, but I get it. I will return!

Ok - be prepared this is like a food court spot in an international grocery store. Great friendly staff. Multiple tables and expected communal seating when situation calls. We got the Sichuan beef noodle soup, braised eggplant, and the beef stuffed pancake. Soy milk comes in a plastic container but is unsweetened so that you can add at the table to your liking. They'll also heat it up for you. Also got the durian pastries to go.

Stopped in with family and we tried a little bit of everything. The har gow was fresh and not too sticky, and the egg tarts were warm and flaky. I loved the variety every dish felt unique and flavorful. The carts kept coming around with lots of options. Staff was friendly and explained a couple dishes we hadn't tried before. It got crowded pretty fast but they handled it well. Would definitely come back for another weekend brunch.

Huge beef noodle for 10 dollars price. The amount of beef in the bowl is a lot too. This broth has a mix of chili oil but I think most of people can handle this low level of spicy. The noodle is different than ramen noodle if you are ramen fan. It's more soft and not chewy as much. Give it a try ! Ps. They have Chinese snacks too. Try check it out over the weekend.

Spicy fish soup. The broth was excellent!

This place has been on my list for a LONG time and I finally tried it! I wish I had looked at more pictures on Yelp to help guide me with ordering. I asked the gentlemen taking orders what he recommended, but his dominant language was not English and he had a difficult time understanding me. A very kind customer came over for a few minutes to try and help translate and he actually recommended a few things. We ordered the spicy fish soup, steak buns, pork sandwich and the bean cake. The spicy fish soup was my favorite out of everything we ordered. There are many other interesting things I would like to try. I wish they had a menu with descriptions of each item to make it easier to order.

As a Chinese person, I will say this is very authentic! Great food and very large portions. The cook is very friendly and love to chat with you. The service is awesome, giving the vibe of family own small restaurant. Very recommended!! Get the JianBing and Baozi!

    Spicy steamed fish soup- Fantastic!

This place is located inside Saraga International grocery store, right across from the produce section. I ordered the spicy fish soup which came with a generous portion of perfectly cooked rice. The soup wasnt too spicy. Nowhere close to even a serrano level but just enough to give it a kick. Its loaded with veggies that werent overcooked. Highly recommend. The chive pancake was loaded with chives, cooked well. It had a bit of a seafood flavor IMO, FYI. Their hot chili oil is fantastic!!! Not too spicy, crisp chili, and you can taste the addition of herbs. They put the oil, soy, vinegar, salt, and sugar on each table and theres a water cooler for customers to help themselves. Great customer service.

Visited with my family on a Monday night. Initially, locating the restaurant was a bit confusing as the GPS directed us to the international market. However, we soon discovered that the restaurant was actually located inside the market. Once inside, we found an authentic and no-frills atmosphere with small seating arrangements. Decor: simple decor and small seating. The yelp pictures look like its a bigger restaurant but currently it only has a table that seats 4 and a bench that can seat 12 Service: We received friendly and accommodating service from the staff, who were attentive and provided helpful suggestions. Food Presentation: Dishes arrived very quickly. The chinese pancake was prepared in front of us Food Taste: We ordered the chinese pancake with fried dough stick, mapo tofu, and hot and sour rice noodle. everything tasted authentic and tasty.

After not being able to travel for so long, we made a little trip to Saraga Market. The international grocery store offers fruits, veggies, snacks, meats, cheeses, teas and candies from around the world. It's awesome. It also as a little Chinese restaurant in the front of the grocery. Asian Snack is literally a hole in the wall in this grocery store. When we stopped by, there were tons of handmade buns set out that looked really beautiful. I ordered the fried beef noodles and we only had to wait for about ten minutes. The noodles and sauce were supppppper good and didn't hurt my stomach from too much oil. Check! The beef however was super fatty to the point that there were chunks of fat. I ended up eating just the noodles and still enjoyed it alot. I'd choose a different meat if you're ordering the dish.

(From top left, counterclockwise) mapo tofu, griddled fish slices, and grilled lamb with cumin. Pea shoots were homemade.

This is a small, hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant inside Saraga market. It's by no means fancy but the food is authentic, super tasty, and come in generous portion sizes. We usually get takeout but they offer a few dine-in tables as well. Our favorite thing to get here is the griddled fish slices - fragrant and intensely flavorful. This dish is executed excellently and always a home run. All you need with it is hot white rice *chefs kiss*. The other dish we got this time was the grilled lamb with cumin. They definitely don't skimp on the spices with this one! The lamb isn't gamey at all and the accompanying onions and green bell peppers were a great combo. The mapo tofu is also delicious here. They add quite a bit of peppercorn which makes it tasty but also potentially overwhelming for those who aren't used to it. Overall, this humble spot is a great option for authentic Chinese cuisine. Highly recommend the griddled fish, that dish has always delivered for us! They also make homemade pastries with fillings like red bean, meat-filled pancakes, breakfast crepes, and silken tofu as well. Lots of great options!

    Steam buns are cold.
    JOEY Z.

The location is hard to find, in a supermarket, not strictly a food court, the price of the food is acceptable, the taste is not pure Chinese food, but modified using local tastes. The only thing I didn't like was that the steamed buns were cold, like they came out of the fridge and I needed to heat them up to eat them.

Best authentic Chinese restaurant in Indiana! Amazing food at reasonable price you won't get disappointed on any dishes

Steamed fish with chili oil OMG! So good!!!

I happened to visit on a warmer day so I was able to see the space with the garage door open. It was golden hour and it had everything all lit up. Very beautiful. Our service was amazing, couldn't have asked for a better server. I can't remember her name but she was so detailed in her descriptions, thoughtful with her suggestions, and had the perfect amount of attentiveness. Now on to the fun parts.... Drinks were a hit! We told our server what we like and they recommended a couple options. I again can't remember the exact name of the drink but mine was a gin cocktail. I'll attach some photos for you. As for the food, every bite I took was delicious. Our table shared the fried brussel sprouts and the ginger miso salad. A very lovely way to ease into our meal on a lighter note. They split up the salad onto two plates for us, which was sweet of them. The portion was pretty good for a $12 salad. Very refreshing. Brussel sprouts were absolutely fire. Get them! Along with that, I also ordered the tempura shrimp maki roll. Inside the roll was cucumber and avocado with giant tempura shrimp right on top, drizzled in spicy mayo. The presentation was cool, a slightly deconstructed version of what I would get somewhere else. There wasn't a single bite left on the plate. I would order all three of these dishes again in a heartbeat. Perfect for a date night or special occasion, but also works for just grabbing a bite with friends. Whenever I find myself back in Indy, Modita will be on my list.

We had a reservation at 6:45, and were sat shortly after that time. The place was busy for a Friday night, and was somewhat loud. Our waitress greeted us quickly, and was on top of things throughout the night. I started off with a ginger miso salad, based on recommendations on this page. Personally, I could have went without the $12 salad. I would have paid more like $6 for the amount of actual salad I got. The dressing was good, but nothing extraordinary. I did ask for no cucumbers- I could taste a faint taste of cucumbers on the salad, so think they just took them off after they were already placed. We split some Bao Buns. These were the highlight of the show. The pork on them was thick, the slaw was fresh, and the bao bun itself was fluffy. We split two dishes for dinner- the short rib and the chicken udon noodles. The chicken udon noodles were fantastic- packed full of flavor and tons of toppings in it. The short rib fell a little short of my expectations, but I had high expectations to begin with. We have had the short rib multiple times in the past- and normally it is a hunk of meat, similar to a roast. Now, it is strips of tiny pieces of meat with a bone attached to it. If the owner/general manager is reading this- GO BACK TO THE ROAST STYLE- the strips of meat was too much work to eat. Still packed full of great flavor though. I had the bridge to Anshun for my drink. I had never had Baiju before, but glad I tried it. It was a tangy drink that was also sweet- would say it's a must try. Overall, some changes since our last visit that weren't expected, but overall had a great evening here. Can't wait to return.

My server, Alan, walked me thru the options to build my custom bowl. The bowl is ready in less than a minute! I selected a lettuce base with chick pea curry, Brussels sprouts, a fabulous pickle onion, kimchi, carrots and topped the bowl off with Korean bbq made from beef brisket. The ingredients were flavorful with varied degrees of spicy heat. The spice levels were perfect for me without added sauce. The curry was tasty and the bbq was tender and juicy. I loved my bowl. I especially liked being able to select ingredients that fit my diet. The dining area has an upscale vibe with six long tables. I had a bowl with sweet potato noodles, some veggies and the Korean crispy chicken. The flavors were good, but the thing that struck me was that some of the items were essentially cold and others were lukewarm, but none of it was really hot. I think it's an inherent property of what they do. They never "grill" or warn all these items together. It would be much better IMO if all the items were stir fried or thrown on a grill quickly together to warm up the dish and meld the flavors. That said the Korean crispy chicken was flavorful and the noodles were a highlight, and seemed to be like Thai glass noodles I've had before. My dining partner got a bowl with the same noodles, some veggies and the salmon. She really like the salmon, and said her bowl was good. The restaurant was clean, the workers were very welcoming and helpful on informing how to pick bowl items, etc. Parking was very easy. Now, to be entirely candid, the building itself looks a touch weathered at first glance but once you step inside, the décor is absolutely flawless. The arrival was completely seamless, thanks to a sweet little dedicated parking lot, and the exterior of the venue is just as cute as a button. The moment I crossed the threshold, the lovely cashier greeted me with the warmest energy and elegantly walked me through the day's catch. What truly blew me away and frankly, brought a little tear to my eye was the sheer depth of knowledge and passion they share about their sourcing. They explained exactly where the fish came from and how it was caught with such beautiful, undivided commitment. That level of bespoke service is precisely what turns a first-time guest into a lifelong devotee. I opted for a Fish Taco prepared with a brilliantly unsalted catch, and it was an absolute revelation. The fish was incredibly soft, delicate, and practically melted in my mouthnot a hint of chewiness in sight. It was simply bursting with that clean, ocean-fresh flavor. A flawless, five-star experience across the board for the taste, the charm, and the beautiful soul of this place. I shall most certainly be making this a regular stop on my lunch rounds!

The seafood on display just looked sad not fresh, not vibrant, not the kind of stuff that makes you want to throw something in a bag and take it home to cook. I fully understand we're landlocked in Indiana and truly fresh seafood is a challenge, but if that's your entire concept, the product has to be able to hold its own.
